Uhh hi, my name is TSO and I am your friendly neighborhood overlord.  I am the head administrator of Maidens of the Kaleidoscope as well as its sole defender against the terrors of the digital void.  After Katchura excused himself of the site almost 6 years ago, I took admin duties and stewardship of the community over along with Seventh Holy Scripture and Leviathean.  I became the technician and server administrator (well really, the only person with any sort of extensive administration experience and the masochistic tendencies to do it).  We've had several servers and hosts over the years and for the most part I've been the designer and maintainer of all the backbone infrastructure that makes MotK tick.  I am also the site's web designer, albeit a horribly unsuccessful one as I've yet to finish any of the myriad of web projects I've threatened over the years (frontpage anyone?).

My role prior to that was operator (@) in #shrinemaiden and general channel annoyance.  I tagged along with 7hs and a few other people from another community (MegaTokyo) and since then this has been my home on the Interwebs.  When Keine was born I was given joint ownership by 7hs and helped myself to channel ops, at first mostly as a joke, but later I began taking on a leadership role in the channel.  My first and probably biggest contribution to the community at the time was the construction and administration of Yurika, MotK's first server.  She was originally intended to be a game server and file dump for the channel but later evolved into Keine's home and then PPIrC's first IRC server.  She has long been retired and now rests as my file server at home, filled to brim with 6TB of the most vile of porn you can imagine my data.  For the most part I've kept my hands off the forums except in a technical capacity.  My realm was IRC and my network, PPIrC.net, my pride and joy.  7hs paid for the forum server, I paid for the IRC servers and managed the technical aspects of both while he handled the moderation and politics.

But after a major break-in involving the IRC server and a growing discontentment amongst the community (as well as SMF 2.0 finally reaching RC status), we completely revamped our server structure and reset the community and forums (Herefore known as SECOND IMPACT).  From scratch Triela, then primary server for the IRC network, was redesigned to host the forums.  Suzuran, resident magical girl and somehow the only person in the world nerdier than I, took over hosting and technical management of the IRC server (the attack came from web stuff I had on Triela).  I also decided to take a more active role in the forums, feeling personally responsible for their decay.

And now, 2 years later, here we are. ^^;;

What's the source for that cute pic in the OP there?  :3

MotK has a good number of different positions of administration. Acolytes, Janitors, Admins, Global Mods etc.
Some people might say that's more than is really needed. What do you think about all the positions?

Some people might say that's more than is really needed. What do you think about all the positions?
Really there's only two major groups, staff, and the users.  The various tags within the staff are mostly for separation of powers.  Being a security minded person you really should only give as much access as someone needs to do their job, no more no less.  After several experiences with rogue staff and users abusing powers, I've made sure that powers are limited to only those who need it.  That and being a Navy brat means I have a natural love for ranks and divisions :V

It's not that I don't trust you guys or think your opinions don't matter, it's just strictly for security reasons.  If you're a staff member, I weigh your opinion with equal weight, regardless if you have an admin tag or an acolyte tag.  I don't get the last say even though I hold all the keys to the kingdom.

The janitor rank was created to allow users take responsibility for the maintenance of their community.  The community doesn't just exist for the benefit of the staff, everyone owns a piece of it no matter if you're a newbie or a moderator.  And I feel that when people are given ownership and the ability to make a difference, they take more pride in their community and it builds a better place for all of us.  While not staff (and not afforded all the privileges and access along with that), they are also given their own special forum to directly raise issues in confidence.  I value their insight as much as I value staff's, more eyes never hurts.

What got you interested in science, specifically the nuclear side of it?
My love with science has been a lifelong affair.  Ever since I was little I was fascinated with the world around me.  I was reading from encyclopedias about weather when I was in kindergarten and I was staring at the stars since as long as I can remember.  I've wanted to be a meteorologist, an astronomer, a biochemist, an electrical engineer working at Intel, all sorts of different science/research jobs.  I'm a tinkerer, I am not satisfied with it works just because, I need to know WHY and HOW something works.  The universe is a fascinating place and the more I know about it the more I fall in love with it.

As for why I've settled on nuclear engineering, I've always had a soft spot for nuclear physics.  I know I have gifts and talents, and I feel it's my duty to use everything I have to benefit society at large.  Electricity is probably the single biggest discovery in human history, and is directly responsible for the massive leaps and bounds we've made in scientific development and quality of life.

The biggest crisis facing our generation is going to be power.  Fossil fuels are going away, and even if they weren't they're extremely harmful to the environment.  And so much suffering in this world is simply a problem of power.  Hunger, thirst, disease, all of that can be solved if everyone had regular access to electricity and the technologies it brings along with it.  And I feel nuclear power is currently the best solution we have to propel ourselves to the next stage in human history.

I'm still not 100% settled on it though, I'm also extremely fascinated in biochemistry and astrophysics but the big thing that's pushing me towards nuclear is the lack of talent and the unjust demonizing it has been getting.  The recent antinuclear trend especially has me determined to prove people wrong about it.

Quote
Was it related to your interest in computers?
I built my first computer when I was 5, and I was banging on a keyboard in my highchair before I could talk.  My love affair was sparked by my dad mostly.  He was an electronics tech in the Navy, and I of course grew up in that world.  To me though computers have always been a hobby.  Doing programming or computer work as a job sucks the fun out of it for me, plus I feel it's a waste of my talents to be writing scripts instead of mixing chemicals and discovering cures.  That's why you couldn't pay me to do this gig (although money would be appreciated :ohdear:)

Quote
What would it take to get you to leave your current state?
I have to move in 2 months and I have no intention to stick around here.  Part of me does want to stay here because it is where my extended family is and I did want to graduate from Ohio State but I think the minuses far outweigh the positives.  Where I want to go I have no clue though.  I like the conveniences urban life brings but at the same time I want to be somewhere where I can see nature and stare at the stars at night.  My dream home would have to be a wooded area in the pacific northwest, with a giant oak tree in my front yard on a hill so I can sit in shade and read in the summer.

Quote
Do you like Skyline chili?
Love it.  3-way is the best, as well as their cheese coneys.

What do you think was the worst thing (besides the April Fools incident) that happened on MotK? How was it resolved?
The move from Pyoko to PPIrC was probably the worst this community has faced and I still don't think we've fully healed.  A lot of people I loved and respected got caught up and some very ugly things came out of it.  It was never really truly resolved, we kind of just decided to go our separate ways and try to move on.  It definitely shaped how I treated this community and the position I gained in the process.

:ohdear:

How would you define you and Seventh as a team?
Jay and Silent Bob.  He's definitely Silent Bob.

What is the favourite type of car you would want to own?

Quote
And now a real mean tricky question: In terms of self confidence, moral and mental achievements online, do you think you are doing a good job as an admin of Motk and how did you thought about this before?
To be honest, I'm extremely pessimistic when it comes to viewing myself.  While I don't think I'm the worst person ever, I definitely think there's a lot of things I've screwed up on, and a lot of things I could have done better, and a lot of things I shouldn't have done at all.  And for the longest time, I never really thought I deserved this position.  I was more than willing to donate my time and effort to maintain the inner technical workings of the community, but I never felt I had the right to "lead" the community.  But then I realized that without a leader I did more damage to this community than I supposedly helped by not being one and now I'm trying to make up for that.

...Who is/was Leviathean? :V
Probably the oldest member ever still around in MotK, although he's super busy and hardly talks anymore.  Huge EFZ fan (his avatar was pixel art of Akiko jam for the longest time).

What motivated you into takin admin's duties ?
I love this community and I felt that my technical skills was the best I could do to give back to this place.  Before I took over management, MotK ran on a horribly outdated copy of phpBB and ended up getting spammed and rooted by some stupid weed fanatic.  We were also on a decaying IRC network that died constantly.  I took that opportunity to move the forums over to SMF, a relatively unknown (at the time) but highly lauded forum software. I provided a home for the IRC channel on the IRC network I had constructed for a Pangya community I was a part of.  And the rest is history.

You seem to be online often,How many hour do you spend on MotK (being here or fixing stuff) ?
Vast majority of my day.  I'm on here while I'm at work and usually a couple of hours when I get home.  Weekends I generally take a break from all things electronic (aka I sleep all day).

Quote
Any other Programmer helps you fixing stuff on MotK ?
Nope :(  I mean |7hs| can code but it's essentially me running the show as far as infrastructure goes.  Matsuri begs me to train him all the time but really I'm not sure how I can teach this stuff, it kind of just comes naturally to me.

Quote
why do I see so many Kosaga avatar lately why did you switched avatar ?
I let people change my avatar all the time.  I can't remember the last avatar I actually chose for myself.  There's also a tradition that on someone's birthday they get powers to be able to change people's avatars and they make a big deal and usually go with a theme.  Vic's birthday was recently and he gave everyone Kogasa avatars.

What learning advice can you give a Starcraft noob before I let you pwn me?
I have a preference for Protoss, what would be the matchup environment if we play?
It's all about spending what you earn.  Train yourself to never go above 300 minerals.  If you can't spend that 300-400 minerals in the next 30 seconds then you need to start thinking about expanding or building more unit production buildings.  Stockpiled resource is wasted resources, if you're not building 24/7 you're not doing it right.  You want to constantly be making workers.  Even if you've already saturated your main you're going to need them when you expand, and the more you have to transfer immediately the much faster your economy will pick up.

Number one mistake I see a lot of people do is spend too much time babysitting their units.  To be honest the most important resource in Starcraft is your attention, and there's diminishing returns for spending more time babysitting your army rather than your base.  As a newbie you should honestly not pay attention to your units at all, just attack move them wherever you want them to go and focus strictly on production.  This may seem counterintuitive but trust me, a stronger economy means far more than a few extra kills here and there.  NEVER neglect your base for your army.

Number two mistake is the focus on build orders.  While build orders are powerful they don't really teach you that much except for specific timing attacks and stuff.  You should learn expansion windows and tech windows naturally.  If you notice after x number of workers you have enough resources to safely expand, then do so.  If you notice after x time you can safely tech up, do so.  Don't get caught in this mindset you HAVE to do x at y time to win.  Nothing's easier to beat than someone stuck on a script, because the moment you fall outside the script you're going to be completely lost.

I play Zerg so you're going to have your work cut out for you.  Protoss has the strongest units in the game but as a result they're more expensive and can't field as many.  Playing against Zerg you need to be harassing me early and often.  Zerg's biggest strength is also their weakness, all units, from the mighty ultralisk to the humble drone, come from the same structure.  This means I can either make workers or I can make combat units, I can't make both at the same time.  Larva is the Zerg's biggest limiting resource, and given the chance Zerg wants to spend its larva on workers as much as possible.

The best situation for Zerg is to be left alone.  There they can spend all their larva on workers and amass a enormous economic lead before crushing you with superior production and resources.  By harassing Zerg you force them to not only spread out their attention, you force them to burn larva to create combat units.  Harassing at multiple areas at once forces Zerg to spread out its units as well.  Your units are better than equal food cost of Zerg units, its the massive ball and extremely fast reinforcement where Zerg wins.  Divided and singled out, Zerg units will lose every time.

The other strength of Zerg is the ability to make wild tech switches very fast, so you need to keep up on scouting (even moreso than usual).  Once the tech structure is up, Zerg can spawn hordes of units instantly, the only limiter being larva and resources/pop cap.  One moment you could be fighting hydralisks, the next moment you're up to your ears in ultralisks and cracklings.

Wait, TSO plays starcraft? I must play with her!
I mostly play DoW2 now.  I am a competitive person when it comes to games and I want to play at my best, and frankly I don't have the time to get to my peak in SC/SC2 :\

In DoW2 I'm ranked in the top 50 3v3 teams on the ladder and I'm still not satisfied >>;;

What features does the Cirno bot in #shrinemaiden have that Keine doesn't have?
Cirno's really just a simple bot for two features: forecasts from NOAA and the ability to summon Suzuran with an emergency page.  Keine can do everything else Cirno does.

Quote
What is your opinion on the US's current political situation?
It sucks.  While I have some philosophical objections to socialism and tend to lean libertarian, it doesn't really matter because neither major party represents anyone except themselves.  They all claim to be for the people and for certain tenants of socialism or libertarian, but in reality it's just a puppet show to appease the masses.  They are more than willing to sell out to corporate interests and screw over their electorate and go back on every single campaign promise they make.

I still vote, as it's my civic duty to do so and it's the only real power we the people have.  But I will never vote for either of the major parties, I vote Libertarian everytime.  I'm not in love with the Libertarian party either.  I think a lot of their policies are nonsensical and downright irresponsible (isolationism, returning to gold standard), but we need a viable third party if just to show people you don't have to vote for the lesser of two evils.  There's more than 2 answers to life's problems, why do we pretend that politics are so black and white?

Considered it?  The Mid-Atlantic area is the area I want to be in.  I grew up in Maryland and the Hampton Roads area and I loved it.  Really the only thing stopping me from moving out now is securing work.  If I can get a job then I'm out of here.

What is the criteria for picking Janitors from the submitted applications?
Trust and familiarity with the forum, staff recommendations, where we actually need help and how familiar that user is with that area.  Before the SJ change SJs had staff rights so any sort of vetting a staff would go through applied here as well, although of course it's been loosened now.

Crack staff pairing!  Why?
Anemone x Testing OTP  The ambiguously gay duo of Kilga and Edible comes second.

Of the BSDs, which would you prefer to use on sm.org?  FreeBSD?  OpenBSD?  And what are your opinions on them, for use as a server distro.
Right now I'm evaluating NetBSD for use with SM.org although I also have extensive experience with FreeBSD.  I just like NetBSD more because the attention paid towards portability pays off in stability.  Since all code has to be portable and easy to maintain across a myriad of platforms, you don't get as many platform specific hacks and the code is cleaner overall.  Of course this means there's less support for esoteric hardware and drivers but that's irrelevant on a server platform.

OpenBSD is nice for simple stuff like edge firewalls and single purpose boxes, but I think for a server handling more mainstream loads you'd be better off with Free/NetBSD.  OpenBSD is a damn secure machine by default but it does have a noticable cost on performance.

Since I am well-versed in the art of Starcraft, more tips from you, Pesco.

Protoss has a single rule in mind, NEVER GO UPWARDS TO 300 TO 500 MINERALS. When you do, it means something is wrong and you need to spend that, either by making more units like Goons or Zealots or upgrading, say, speed. Protoss in incredibly powerful in terms of units, so use that as some sort of Psychological Advantage to win. Try it out, walk a group of Speedlots to an enemy base and they WILL back out. But then, Starcraft is not all about massing units up and A-moving towards the enemy base.

With that in mind, keep a well-rounded composition. In mirror matches, it all comes down to Goon/Zealot micro and timing. (Some Reavers wouldn't hurt too.) In PvZ, stick to zealots, high templars and zealots as Zerg will tear up weak units very very easily. Late game, Archons are great for killing those cracklings beneath Dark Swarm. For Terran, Goon/Zealot still stands out, but the massive amounts of mines and vultures may keep you at bay.

Resources are key for Toss, especially GAS. Yes, they are powerful, but with a hefty price. Like TSO said, aim to expand if your minerals get too high. It will give you the advantage in uber late game.

I can give more, but yeah. I was once a Toss user so I know these stuff. Just recently switched to Terran.

Depends on what you mean by homeless but if you're referring to if I care about social status in a potential date, no not really.  Now would I date some random guy off the street?  Probably not, I'm extremely shy and it's actually pretty hard for me to get comfortable enough to be around someone in an intimate manner.

IN ANY NOTE, Is it really hard being in charge of everything? I always thought that being in charge meant ordering people so that they do the work for you.
There's a tag called [hr], you should look into it.

As for your question, being in charge isn't about being bossy and ordering around.  You can't lead if you're not willing to follow.  A terrible boss leads by barking orders, a good boss leads by example.  I don't expect anything from the rest of the staff that I wouldn't be willing to do myself.  I didn't take this position to stroke my ego either.  Trust me, if I wanted to stroke my ego there's far easier ways than running and maintaining an online community @_@

What is your ideal career?
Anywhere where I can fully put my talents and gifts to the benefit of mankind.  I enjoy pretty much every branch of science.  I'm also a huge music nerd and musician and I seriously considered music education as my career.  If I had my choice I'd probably be a music teacher, but unfortunately the political and economic climate for teachers right now is horrendously poor.

Quote
Where would you like to live?  Where are you going after you move?
I have lots of places I'd like to live, but what matters to me the most is access to nature, a clear night sky, and Internet ^^;  I'm just as much an urbanite as I am a country girl.  As for where I'm going now, totally dependant on where I find a job more than anything else.  That's what's going to determine where I move to.

Quote
Why are you excessively stabhappy?
I stab therefore I am.

What's the best way - both from a personal perspective as well as that of an administrator - of dealing with stupid people?  Oblivious ones?  Trolls?
Patience.  Trolls feed off the lack of patience, and "stupid" people may not be intentionally ignorant but just not as quick or as knowledgeable as others.  If they're just not up to speed, then getting angry isn't going to solve anything.  And if they're intentionally being obtuse or trolling, being angry gives them exactly what they want.

It takes a LOT to get me ticked off to the point where I lose my composure.  Now I may seem curt and I may use strong language, but that's not out of anger, I just think it's pointless to sugarcoat and pretend.  If I'm being dumb, I want to be told that up front, not be pat on the back and patronized.  That being said I am learning to use less "charged" phrasing and language so people don't get the wrong idea and think I'm being hostile.  I know I have a tendency to use words and language that tend to get misconstrued and misinterpreted.

I understand if this is a touchy subject (and you're free not to answer), but do you think the Touhou community tends to attract more LGBT persons than other fandoms, and if so, what the reason for that is?

I remember you saying quite a while ago that you hadn't played any touhou games since IN due to your staunch refusal to pirate them. Have you played any of the more recent touhous since then? Do you plan to buy them eventually, if not?

What got you into Touhou?
I was aware of Touhou from an earlier rant by Dom (Megatokyo) about PCB, but it was his rant about IN that really got me interested.

Quote
why do you like it (or not)?
It's just... different?  And it's so big and varied it's very easy to find a niche you like.  Plus it's decidedly different from other fandoms I'm attached to and I like variety.

Quote
any bad habit you have to work on ? :D
Procrastination :(

Are we still on for a Hayate and Signum cosplay at some unforeseen point in the future?
As long as you bring the wheelchair :b  I'm open to any other duo (or trio ehehehe) cosplays as well ;).

Quote
What are your problems with socialism?
I'm mostly about self determination.  We all have the capacity to choose our own destiny and I feel that I should be free to choose what I want to do.  And I think we should operate on merit.  Some things are simply more valuable than others and the way to attract interest in a lot of these fields is to well, pay more.  Pay is a big reason why I'm going for nuclear engineering over music ed.  I'm not materialistic by a long shot, but the difference between a guaranteed job and not even being certain if you can pay off your student loans is huge.  If I had any sort of financial freedom I'd do music ed in a heart beat.  It sucks that people don't see the value in that, but we don't have the right to force people to care about something they don't.  All we can do is educate them and hope they eventually see the value in it.

And I fully believe in the social contract.  We exchange freedom for security, and by design a socialist government has to be large.  So increasing the bureaucratic weight inevitably means we're giving up some of our freedom for that.  I'm ok with exchanging a little efficiency for a smaller (in the sense of bureaucratic) system.  That being said, I definitely see the need for regulation in order to foster competition and keep prices in control.  There are some industries that have natural monopolies that need to be heavily regulated (power distribution, physical internet lines) in order to promote fair competition.

Basically, I want as much freedom as possible for everyone, but on the same token I want everyone to be on the same playing field.  Hence why I'm not COMPLETELY libertarian, but I'm not exactly anywhere near socialist either.  I see instances where government regulation is necessary and where the free market isn't even close to the best solution.  But on the same token I would like to have as little government intervention as possible.

Quote
What is your favourite breakfast food?
Tie between oatmeal and any sort of fried potato dish (home fries, hashbrowns, etc).  Oh and grits too :O... and chicken biscuits... and waffles.... and eggs.. and *drools*

I understand if this is a touchy subject (and you're free not to answer), but do you think the Touhou community tends to attract more LGBT persons than other fandoms, and if so, what the reason for that is?
I don't think it does.  I just think that visual culture communities tend to be more accepting and open about it.   Visual culture people tend to be more on the outliers of normal society to begin with, so it's not exactly a stretch that people tend to be more open and accepting.  So it's selection bias, you think there's more because there's more people open about it.  While it probably would attract more people, it is an escape after all, I don't think it's significant enough of an effect to make a difference.  I think the openness matters more.  Being gay or straight is just sexual orientation, it doesn't dictate your personality.  There's countless gay people who don't fit the standard fashion minded preening pretty boy stereotype and there's all sorts of straight guys who aren't macho beer guzzling football fanatics.

Quote
Where'd you get the nickname of TheStupidOne from?
Combination of Courage the Cowardly Dog and how horrifically bad I used to be at StarCraft.

Why was my question ignored? /wrists
Maybe if you didn't quote a giant ORZ I wouldn't have blocked out out mentally and shuffled your post away as dumb?

Anyways the only question I'm going to ask out of your pile is the game genre one (that death question is absolutely creepy and I really don't like to talk or think about death).  My favorite genre has to be RTS.  I am a tactical genius and I enjoy bossing around my peons and crushing my enemies.  4X (expand, explore, exploit, exterminate) comes a close second because there is just a mindboggling amount of things you can do with such a simple premise.

As for what I want to do in life?  Get married, have kids, do something meaningful that I enjoy, and above all, make a contribution to mankind.  How I do that is really going to be based on what life throws at me.

What kind of plans do you have for the front page at the moment (as in, what kind of content would you like it to have)?
Basically everything that's in FPH is of course going to go on the front page.  We've also got a really neat new feature where we review the various items in the touhouverse.  That includes games, doujins, music, what have you.  Then there's another thing I've always had in mind, a Youtube for replays, but I don't know how practical that'll end up being.  Not to replace gensokyo.org, but to make it easier for new people to be introduced to the games.  To be able to browse replays and watch without having to worry about setting up game, having patches, etc.

Basically the idea of the frontpage is to have content that would help someone new to the universe get acquainted.  To aggregate news and reviews and to help people explore the wonders this fandom has to offer.

Quote
I remember you saying quite a while ago that you hadn't played any touhou games since IN due to your staunch refusal to pirate them. Have you played any of the more recent touhous since then? Do you plan to buy them eventually, if not?
I haven't :\  I just haven't had the money to purchase them.  I do plan on buying them eventually.

Have you played touhou since 2011?
Other than IaMP occasionally no, my obsession right now is DoW2 and the massive RPG backlog I have @_@.

Quote
Which difficulty do you usually play?
Hard/Lunatic.  I would much rather fail constantly at the hardest difficulty than get a clear on easier ones.  This is how I essentially play every game.  Go straight for the hardest difficulty option.

Quote
What are your current goals in life?
In order of importance.

1. Move out
2. Finish school
3. Get married
4. Get my "dream job"

Quote
What keeps you going as the head admin of this place?
I really enjoy helping others.  And I know if I went away this place would essentially cease to exist, and I don't want that to happen.  It gets hard I'll admit when I don't feel like I'm appreciated, and I will admit I do get discouraged even when it's just the minority making a fuss.  But I think what's kept me coming back is just realizing how much this community has given to me.  As long as there's a few people here who I think are worth sticking around for, I'll be here.

What is your greatest fear?
Being alone.  I like my alone time, but if I was every truly alone I'd probably go insane.  It's one of the big things I'm dreading moving out, being alone for the first time in my life.  I grew up in a very big family so I never really had extended periods where I was left alone by myself and I honestly don't know if I can properly cope with it.

Quote
Which programming language would you say is most useful in today's world?
All of them?  There's no specific language that is a cut above the rest.  All of them have specific strengths and weaknesses and different utilities.  I wouldn't say there's any one right language for every situation, except maybe C for embedded applications.

Quote
If you could break one of Newton's laws of physics, which would it be?
Oh god this question got leaked to me earlier in #t-m and I have to say breaking any of them would completely destroy my current concept of how the Universe works.  I couldn't describe what would happen.  Probably the only natural law that I would think would be breakable without affecting the Universe too much would be the third law of thermodynamics.  100% efficiency heat engines can't be that mindblowing.

Quote
How did your parents meet?
Blind date on Valentine's day.  We actually try to go to the exact Pizza Hut they met every year, although they tore it down a while ago :(.

I remember you once said Eisenhower was your favorite president. Who would your second pick be, and why?
Hmmm... Polk probably.  While I don't quite agree with his policies, he did do exactly what he promised to do.  He got us the Northwest Territory, he won the Mexican-American war, and only ran for one term.  As far as "successful" presidents are concerned, he's definitely successful.

Quote
What is your favorite guilty pleasure (i.e., something you're genuinely ashamed of enjoying; not something others might laugh at that you have no shame in enjoying)?
Bad action movies (Last Action Hero, Broken Arrow).  I know they're awful but I can't help but watch every single one.  Even the worst ones will amuse me if it has enough explosions.

Quote
Ever fallen in love with someone you shouldn't be falling in love with? Elucidate.
I've not had that many crushes tbh, mostly because I've been extremely shy and uncomfortable to get close to someone.  But the one crush I vividly remember is another girl in the marching band.  I was fascinated by her and I knew she already had a boyfriend (and my friends reiterated this point many times).  I still pursued her, and I remember being devastated when I got rejected when I asked her out to the prom.  I ended not going to my senior prom because of it.

How important is religion in your life, however you take that to mean?
Well, it's important in the sense that it helps define my beliefs and my desires and my feelings.  I'm not too attached to the actual rituals and motions, and in fact I haven't really gone to mass regularly in years.  I do have some serious objections to the Church and some of its dogma.  But I don't discount belief entirely, because by definition we cannot comprehend the true nature of God, so everyone's views and interpretations are going to be different.  Noone's is any more right than someone else's, as long as they respect the basic inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness every human being must have.

I take the Buddhist phrase "If you see Buddha on the road, kill him" to heart.  Your beliefs are your own, noone else's.  While I definitely take guidance and advice from others, in the end you are yourself and noone's going to tell you exactly how to live.

Do you like any sports?
Sports I'd like to play?  Tennis and golf, especially tennis.  Tennis skirts are hawt <3 <3 <3.   I definitely enjoy watching football and baseball and the occasional hockey or basketball game.

What the most important thing you learned from college?
Drinking is not as glamorous or as fun as it seems, and nothing's more valuable than a good nap.

Quote
Favorite pet?
I love cats and dogs and fishies <3.  Best pet I'd want to have though is probably an african grey parrot (so very smart) or a red panda so cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Know any foreign languages?
I used to know Hawaiian and Tagalog and a bit of Japanese, and I learned German in highschool, but unfortunately I've more or less forgotten it all :(.

you said you wanted to get married :)
what Qualities your boyfriend should have ? what he shouldn't do (like smoking ^^ )
I'm definitely not a fan of smokers, and I don't really enjoy drinking.  Above all I'm not too particularly picky.  I guess it's more about intangibles like personality and values that would matter more to me than looks or money.

Quote
Honestly;
can you say that you're happy in your life ? if not what should be changed?
I wouldn't say I'm perfectly happy tbh.  There's definitely a lot of things I regret and a lot of things I wish I hadn't missed out on.  But I think that's the case of everyone's life, noone really gets everything they want.  That being said there's still a lot of things I'm grateful for, and there's definitely people in my life that make it worth living.

Quote
what would you change about yourself if you could?
Oh there's thousands of things I'd wish I could change >_>  My physical appearance definitely.  I definitely wish I was braver, and sometimes I don't think before I act.  I also don't like how I sometimes tend to use harsh or offensive language, even if my intentions are pure.

Ok enough for tonight, I have a huge headache orz.

Probably not enough to hold a conversation anymore (Did I read that right?  You were asking if I understand?).  My vocabulary is nonexistant at this point.  It's probably been close to a decade since I've actually spoken any.

Growing up I was a Navy brat so we got flung all over the place.  I was actually born in California and I grew up in Hawaii and Okinawa.  I didn't actually live in Ohio until I was 8 or so.  During my freshman and sophomore years of highschool I lived in Maryland and almost all of my friends were Filipino.  Oh god their moms were excellent cooks and always made tons of food.  I really miss having access to Filipino food :(.

Your opinion on capitalism?
It sucks, but I think as a general idea it's about as good as we're going to get given the current state of human evolution and social development.  Just like communism, capitalism sounds great on paper, but when you take into account human nature pure capitalism is awful.  A mixture of both capitalistic and communistic ideals is probably the best, with the "ratio" really being up to personal taste I suppose.  There's just some things you can't trust the free market to solve (infrastructure, low/nonprofit medicine, etc), and then there's some things that the government really shouldn't have its hand in.

Quote
What do you think is your most defining trait?
I'm... not sure.  I can't say there's one outstanding trait that defines me as a person.

Quote
Are there stupid questions, or only stupid people?
The only stupid person is someone who isn't willing to ask stupid questions.

One celebrity in particular you wish had never existed, and why.
Paris Hilton >_>  She's so awful and she's basically famous for being born rich.  She's got absolutely no redeeming qualities as a human being and is very aware of this.

Quote
If you had to make a webcomic, what would it be about?
I did make a webcomic, several in fact.  One I did with my friends in highschool called Juan Bondo, the Mexican Secret Agent.  It was basically just a bunch of really bizarre jokes involving cactuses and tequila.  His car was actually a donkey.  I'm sure I still have all the comics somewhere.

The one I made myself was called OS Wars.  It was basically Star Wars except with Bill Gates being the Emperor (and Ballmer Darth Vader) and RMS and Linus Torvaldis as the Rebellion.  I had jokes about dragging people into recycle bins (Vader force choke) and planes bluescreening as they attacked.  I think I got through 3 comics before I got bored and gave up on it.

What's the one video game you've played that's had the biggest effect on your life?
Descent.  It's the one game I can point at and go "yeah, that's what got me into games and programming".  I mean I played NES/SNES games and stuff before that, but Descent absolutely enthralled me.  I played the shit out of the shareware levels, and the greatest day of my childhood was when I finally got the full versions of Descent 1 and 2.  I actually had the strategy guide for Descent 2 and read it religiously years before I even got the game.  I made so many levels for that game and my friends and I would play eachother constantly over dialup.

-A little over 1 year ago, the forum went under heavy changes: Community Fanworks became PSL and AAA; the game board got split into Akyu's Arcade and RPG, etc. One year later, what are your feelings on these changes and how the effect they've had on the forum?
Well the game board has always been split into Akyu's and RPG, it's just we made the decision to make RPG a main forum instead of a subforum of Akyu's.  I wasn't pleased that it became the RP center (and I know I ruffled quite a few feathers when I said this) instead of its original purpose, a place for MotKers to share private server info, plan game nights, etc.  But that's the direction the community went and it wasn't like that stuff didn't fit into the new RPG forum.

The Fanworks split was in my opinion probably one of the biggest and best decisions we've made after the reset.  While fanfiction was never really a problem, the artists of MotK were definitely in disarray and it was hard to actually discover people's artwork.  From an organization standpoint it just makes more sense.  It makes it far easier for people to discover new artists and writers and there was no real need to keep them crammed together anymore.

-A well-known battle has been CPMC's role in MoTK, with numerous threads being locked, deleted, or moved into another subform. What would you like to see in CPMC, especially in comparison to Renko's?
Sigh... this discussion comes up constantly in the Staff forum and I'm actually kind of frustrated how people are taking it.  It's great and all you've guys made CPMC your own little corner and all, but there comes a point where your "comfort" is coming at the cost of accessibility.  Threads are moved out of CPMC not to punish you guys, but to make threads easier to find for people who may not be completely familiar with the nuances of this community.

As for thread locks and stuff, we have an upcoming change to CPMC that's going to help alleviate that.  Basically after the next wipe, we're going to try switching CPMC to a 24 hour thread cycle.  What this means is, when you make a thread, after 24 hours it will be automatically locked.  After 72 hours - 1 week (haven't decided), it will be removed from CPMC.  This is meant in order to break up the megathread issue that I think is a huge hinderance to participation from new people and lurkers.  Instead of having to trudge through days if not weeks of replies to catch up, you have at most a day or so of posts to catch up to.

In exchange for the post change, we're going to loosen all moderation on CPMC.  Basically threads will only be locked if they break a rule, and threads will only be moved if they belong somewhere else.  We're going to trust the community to be able to moderate threads for "quality", if a thread sucks it's only going to last a day and be flushed away, and if it's good it'll get repeated the next day.  Threads can be LS'ed immediately instead of waiting for a mad dash before a wipe.

Threads that are stickied will avoid the thread lock on age check, but will still get autolocked if they exceed 1k posts.  This allows mods and IDs to pin topics of interest, such as contest threads, or maybe some big happening or discussion topic.  We want ID to return back to a position of importance instead of just a fancy badge, and by allowing IDs to basically highlight topics that interest them, they can influence CPMC a bit more.  It shouldn't be abused though to avoid the thread lock and keep perennial threads like the rage/happiness/etc threads alive, just for specific instances where it'd be desirable to keep a thread around longer.

Along with the thread change we're also considering merging all off-topic (serious or otherwise) down into the new CPMC, and replacing Renko's with a proper Audio/Video forum.  Things like news posts and stuff make perfect sense in the new CPMC thread cycle (no need for a giant news post, just post individual articles in their own threads and after a couple of day they're shuffled out to reduce clutter).  There will no longer be thread wipes in CPMC as the thread cycle effectively takes care of that.  There will of course still be pantheon wipes.

-Who's your favorite character in the Touhou series? Favorite song?
Favorite character is probably a tie between Sanae and Satori.  Satori is very close to me in terms of personality (I'm extremely empathetic and a big sister type persona), and I just absolutely love Sanae's character and design.  Older favorites are Yuyuko (Dreamcast-tan!) and Youmu (gee I wonder which team I chose in IN), and Komachi is my kind of lazy.

Favorite song, I can't really pin.  To be honest I don't really remember game music that much except in certain instances where it defined the game experience.  Of course I'll always recognize iconic themes like Zelda and Mario and stuff like that, but nowadays I tend to mute in-game music and play other stuff instead.  Like I'll always associate System of a Down with Diablo 2 because I basically played their albums nonstop during my big D2 binge.  I'll associate TF2 with Lia because I was on a huge Lia kick when I used to play TF2 seriously.

Probably the only memorable game OSTs for me are from Starcraft and Total Annihilation.  Total Annihilation has the most epic OST of any game ever, it is a masterpiece on its own and definitely shaped me towards a long love affair with classical/orchestral music.  Starcraft because I watch Starleague religiously and I actually got the autograph (and Battle.net login!) of one of the violinists who did the SC2 and Diablo3 soundtrack.

Quote
Outside of computers and games, what is your favorite interest/ hobby?
Music by far.  I am a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge band geek, I can play almost any instrument and I am enthralled by music theory.  I enjoy listening to music that is "technically" rich because I will dissect rhythms and chords in my head.  Another hobby of mine is film, especially stop animation.  I made countless stop animation films with my friends as a kid, and for several of my English projects in highschool I submitted my book reports by making stop animation films.  Like for Beowulf I made a machinima fake trailer using Final Fantasy Tactics (oh man figuring out how to hack positions and character names was awesome).  For Tale of Genji I made a silent film era type movie describing putting the moves on girls Heian style.

And of course I love electronics.  I've made countless little electronic gadgets, and my current project is a custom arcade stick that'll work on my 360 and PS2/PS3.  I'm building and programming the PS2 interface myself using a microcontroller.

Main race on DoW2?
Right now it's Ork, but I've always had a soft spot for Tyranid.  Just unfortunately the balance isn't exactly favorable towards the buggies right now :(  I've played the game so much that I probably have well over several hundred games in each race.

Quote
Favorite PC-98 touhou?
I don't really have one tbh.  To me the PC-98 games are like a completely different era.  I've never played them and the characters and stuff seem so foreign compared to the Winhous.

On average, how much does it cost to actually maintain MoTK?
We just paid our yearly bill and it came out to ~230 for Triela and ~260 or so for Henrietta.  We used to actually pay more in the past, but now we don't have to pay for the IRC side (we hitch a ride on Suzuran's box) and we didn't have a game server for a while.

Do you believe piracy of games or other products is justifiable in cases where they're strictly unavailable through any other means? I know this is beating a really old horse but it's a question I forgot to ask you earlier okay (for clarification, I'm talking about cases where legitimate copies don't simply exist anymore, etc.)
I think that's the only case where you could make the call where piracy is justifiable, and that's for archiving.  If the system is long dead, then in my mind it's ok to make backups of the original carts because the developers literally cannot see another penny from you, all sales will be second hand.  Now, if there's rereleases made I think morally you have an obligation to get those since they can trickle royalties back to the original developers.  I understand though that oftentimes rereleases aren't as good or have things changed from the originals, so I'm not exactly heartbroken if a purist prefers say, the original FF6 on SNES from the various rereleases on PSX and GBA.

Quote
How did you get into gaming in the first place?
I was born a gamer baby.  I'm not kidding when I tell this story.  I was born the night my dad bought my mom Gradius for the NES.  So you could say I was wired from the day I was born.  I was banging on keyboards in my high chair before I could talk and I definitely wasted many a day playing NES and computer games.

Who's your most hated touhou?
Nameless fairy #24513456, kills me everytime :(

Quote
What is your favorite book or book series?
To be honest I haven't read much in a long time, but growing up I was absolutely enthralled by the His Dark Materials series, specifically The Golden Compass.  I actually have a hardback copy signed by Philip Pullman himself.  When I was really little I loved the Redwall series but in retrospect it was kind of childish and absurd but whatever I had fun.  I'm definitely a fan of JRR Tolken's work and Dickens and other contemporary authors (love Tale of Two Cities and Les Miserables).  I really enjoyed Beowulf and Tale of Genji because they were so completely foreign from the stuff I grew up on and it was very refreshing seeing things presented in a completely different literary style.

Do you have any skills with Adobe software?
I use Photoshop and Illustrator all the time for my freelance work.  I was really into vector tracing when I was in highschool, but unfortunately I don't have much in the way of artistic talent for drawing.  I mean, I have good concepts and I can visualize stuff but I can't translate it to a physical medium very well.  Perhaps I just need to practice it I guess.  I've got some minor experience in Pagemaker as well but almost everyone uses Quark for typesetting.

Yes, I did say if you were able to understand. You still have that tiniest bit of Filipino vocabulary in you.
I'm actually kind of sad I know so few foreign languages nowadays.  It's actually pretty limiting to be monolingual.

Do you exercise your second amendment?  Do you have any proficiency in their use?
I don't own a gun but I've shot a .50 cal before.  That was awesome.  As for proficiency, does Quake count? :derp:

In the event that America had to have a Draft, how would you feel to be selected?
If it ever comes to a point where America has to revive conscription, we're fucked simply put.  We have one of the best volunteer militaries in the world, bar none, and if we're forced to have to draft civilians then shit has really hit the fan.  I'd definitely be scared out of my mind.

Quote
Favorite Naval craft?
Ironically despite my dad being in the Navy, he only spent 2 years of his entire 22 year Naval career on a boat, and it was an aircraft carrier.  So I'm definitely biased towards those.  Although the raw power the WW2 era battleships commanded are a sight to behold.

What do you study at school and do you enjoy it?
Right now I'm not in school but I plan on going back to finish my Electrical Engineering degree and either minor in Nuclear Engineering or take it as a second major.  When I was in school I didn't exactly enjoy it but that was a different time and I was going through a real dark period in my life.

Quote
If you *ever* raged at Touhou , what kind of damage did you do because of that?
I've never raged at Touhou but I've raged at other games before.  Pangya has claimed about 6 keyboards and 4 monitors, but I don't blame Pangya for that as much as well, it was during the same time I was going through bad stuff in my life so I was just angry period.  I don't get angry at games or really much of anything anymore.  I'm not a naturally mean person.

Is it worth paying a total of ?27,000 ($44,000) just for University tuition fee's?
Is that per year or overall?  Because after 2 years of school (with nothing to show for it orz) that's about my current student loan debt .________.

Do you know how hard it is to ask you good questions about your moderating style like I would usually do when you're so goddamn above board with everything in the staff forum?
I can't help I'm that awesome :smug:

Quote
What got you into RTS? What is your favorite, and why?
My friends definitely.  My best friend got me into Starcraft and Total Annihilation.  I played TA constantly, I would definitely say it's what started my long love affair with it.  I didn't get into Starcraft that much because on the surface it felt too limiting.  TA though, was like playing SimCity with bombs.  The scale it played at was absolutely astounding.  The economic control it demanded made me crunch numbers for hours.  And it was just downright satisfying to pull off an amazing flank or a long range bombardment of someone, or getting that ONE unit out and being able to crush your opponent.  And above all, it lead to some amazing mindgames growing up with my friends.

Above all, games are escapes and I think RTS and 4x games provide the escape I desperately needed.  I go home every night and play the shit out of DoW2 and I love it.  I get to go from IT peon to general of an elite strike force.  It's actually pretty liberating and relaxing to me to go from being bossed around to calling the shots and being able to dictate strategic maneuvers.  I really got into Pangya not as much because I enjoyed golf, as much as it scratched the mathematician itch in me with its deceptively deep physics calculations.  It also didn't hurt I could play dressup and not get in trouble >>;

Quote
Why am I your favorite?
That would depend on you being my favorite in the first place :derp:

Quote
Have your younger siblings been less irritating lately compared to the tales you used to tell us?
My sister's still a bitch, my brother still disappoints me with how much of a waste he is compared to what he could be, and I still love my two little brothers to death.  All in all it's a mixed bag, there's definitely some people in my family I won't miss when I move out and there's some that I sincerely enjoy being around and I'm going to be absolutely devastated when I go away :\

What is the last good book you've read?
I honestly can't recall, but it was probably the last book in the His Dark Materials series, The Amber Spyglass.  I wouldn't say it was amazing, it definitely got very preachy at times, but it closed out a series of mine I've held dearly since childhood.

Quote
Where or from whom have you learned as much as you have about history?
Knowing your history is knowing where you come from and how you got here.  To not know history is criminal, noone should ever be ignorant of their past, lest they wish to repeat any of the follies made along the way.  I have to say I'm just fascinated by knowledge itself, and I will endlessly study everything I can in order to know more.  From whom specifically I learned so much I would have to say one of my childhood friends.  He is a huge history buff, and to this day I talk to him daily.  He talks all the time about obscure historical tidbits and stuff, like the hats of all the great dictators.  Also being a huge 4x nerd (so is he, gee wonder why) I tend to get exposed to games set in specific historical settings, and it helps if I learn the history of the era I'm trying to immerse myself into.

You know those "What I wanna be when you grow up" questions that were required for you to answer when you were very young? Can you still remember what you wrote there? If you do still remember, compare and contrast to what you really want right now.
I put down I wanted to be a ballerina (not kidding) one time.  I'd have to say that's pretty accurate lol.  Seriously though I've always put down sciencey type jobs, it just depended what my current love affair was at the time.  What I want now really isn't as much important as what I can do with what I become.  I want to give back to humanity in a meaningful way.  I know I've been gifted with a great intellect, and I want to do everything in my power to advance the pursuit of knowledge.

Quote
Apples or Bananas?
Oh god I love bananas.  Give me a banana shake any day.  I like a good apple too, but I tend to like baked more than raw.  Bananas I will devour in any form though.

Quote
Moe or not?
What, you got a problem with Curly?  Seriously though, I'm not a fan of moe.  The whole doormat thing it tries to portray is really unsettling to me, and the fans of moe are even creepier in that respect.  A spineless blob who's happiness is totally reliant on someone else is not something anyone should aspire to be or want someone to be.  You can be cute AND have a mind of your own, they're not mutually exclusive.

Why are :bzzz:, :colbert:, :justasplanned:, :matsuri:, :matsuri2:, and :flowerpower: not listed in the "Additional smileys" window? (They all have smaller dimensions than :dealwithit:, which is listed in the window.)
When they get added they're hidden by default.  Probably just an oversight.

What's your current living situation like?
It's not bad but I wouldn't say it's ideal.  It used to be a lot rougher, but once I got this job my parents definitely eased off on giving me crap.  I definitely have to hide parts of myself though from the family and it's still a big conflict internally for me.  I don't know how much is going to change when I move out.

Quote
What's your current relationship with your immediate family like?
Mixed.  I get along with my siblings for the most part and I'm not having any big conflicts with my parents but we do spar from time to time.  It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.  There's definitely some personalities I can't get along with and some behaviors I definitely do not approve of though, but above all they're my family and I can't bring myself to outright hate any of them or willingly choose to divorce myself from them.

Quote
How far along on your TS transition are you (if you don't mind talking about it)?
Unfortunately nowhere right now.  Being at home has pretty much put any thought of that to a halt.  I'm hoping I can start as soon as I move out but that's all dependent on how well I can secure a job and financial stability.

Quote
Are you often on any IM clients?
I'm always on Steam and lately I've been on Skype but for the most part I'm more on IRC than anywhere else.  I always have MSN open if you're looking to get my attention if you don't have those two.

What's been your biggest struggle stemming from being shy?
Meeting people.  I'm usually deathly afraid to be in social situations.  It's not bad if I'm at say, a stranger's house or around random people for work, but if I'm there for a social gathering I usually freeze up and feel really awkward and acutely self-conscious.  I've never really had many friends growing up, which was exacerbated by the fact I was moving all the time.

Quote
What do you believe to be the greatest invention thought up by mankind?
Probably electricity and the printing press.  Electricity is essentially responsible for every single feature and comfort of modern life, and has advanced scientific discovery in ways unimaginable.  But this is only a smidgen compared to the advances the printing press created.  Suddenly literacy wasn't just in the hands of the elite, now everyone could read and write at a fraction of the cost.  The explosion of knowledge afterwards shaped our destiny as a species.

As a side note, I still don't have anyone for sure renting the last room in my house. Got a bus stop for DC's bus service within walking distance, and there's a nice little park within walking distance of here, too. I hear DC is good for looking for jobs. There's plenty of us here, so you won't have to worry about being alone (also one of my greatest fears). Oh yeah, and the Internet here is fast, and I could always get a faster service if needed, so if Maryland still appeals to you... :3
I'll think about it, a big reason I want to be in that area is there's definitely lots of you over in that general vicinity.  NoVA/MD was definitely one of my more favorite places to live.

your thought on the current state of the world ?
I think it's going through troubling times, but when hasn't it?  Every generation has a struggle to overcome and a major event defining their mark on history.  I think we're no better or worse in terms of DOOM AND GLOOM than any previous generation.  The big thing though is, I think we're on the edge of another major evolution in human society and history.  After over a century since the start of the Industrial Revolution, we're becoming the first truly globally connected generation.

Sure we've had international trade prior to this, but never in human history has communication been so easy and within the grasp of so many people.  Barriers are being brought down and borders breached in ways that have never been done before.  You can see the old guard of nationality, race, and class starting to crumble away.  Whether this results in a complete erasure of divisions between peoples, or just the development of new ones to supplant it waits to be seen, but I hope we may end up giving birth to the first generation that will not know of prejudice and racism.

All the time.  I don't like people getting in trouble on my behalf because of my actions, let alone people I care about.  I can't cite any specific instances off the top of my head but I've had quite a few over the years.

You have a youtube account? If you do have, do you have some DoW2 matches I can watch? I'm interested to see why you are top 50.

Specs on your Desktop/Laptop?
.... which one? lol.  All of my boxes excluding the laptops and my mom's desktop are custom built by me.

Desktop - Suou
Core i7 920 @ 4.11GHz, 6GB DDR3, GTX465, 64GB SSD + 2x 320GB HDDs for data, Bluray drive, dual Dell U2311H (23in 1920x1080) monitors.  Running Windows 7 + Debian in a guest VM under VMWare Server (for programming/testing MotK stuff)

Laptop - Yin
Asus UL30VT-X1K, Core 2 Duo SU7300, 4GB DDR3, G210M + crappy onboard Intel, 64GB SSD, 13.3in screen at 1366x768.  Also running Windows 7.

Server - Yurika (retired MotK server)
Athlon X2 3800+, 4GB DDR, 6x1.5TB HDDs with a 2GB CF card for boot/OS.  Currently running FreeBSD 7.3 but planning on upgrading it to 8.1 sometime this weekend.

Media box - Darla (Finding Nemo)
Phenom II X2 560, 4GB DDR3, HD5570, 500GB HDD, Bluray drive.  Windows 7.

Then there's my mom's desktop and laptop, my sister's desktop, my older brother's desktop and laptop, my younger brothers' machine, and my dad's two work machines, and a spare box and so on and so on.  Basically my older brother gets my last desktop guts, then my little brothers get his old stuff (which was my old stuff 2 gens ago).  I think I have enough PCs in my house :V

Do you have any allergies?
I'm allergic to hydrocortizones, and I have a contact allergy to some types of grass, but other than that I'm not really like sneezy/etc to stuff.  I dunno if it counts as an allergy but most decongestants give me seriously high blood pressure, which is bad because I have to take them often for my ear problems.

How do you think the automobile industry is doing, in regards to fuel consumption and safety?
Safety I think it couldn't be any better at this moment.  The last major fiasco we had with auto safety was what, the Firestone tire blowout issue back in the 90s?  The throttle thing with Toyota ended up being a very isolated incident, with most caused by driver error than any actual hard fault of the car.

As for fuel consumption, we've had the technology for extremely efficient cars for decades.  The problem is the consumer isn't buying them.  Even with gas at almost $4/gallon people are still buying gas guzzling SUVs.  2010 was the first time since the fuel crisis in the 70s where miles driven actually decreased.  I think until people get serious about gas consumption it's going to be this case for a long time.  People just don't see it as that big of a deal.  I myself always look towards fuel economy when I look at a car.  My last car got 32 MPG and my current one gets 29-30.

Quote
Potentially invasive: When did you first feel like you were in the wrong body?
I've always felt different, even as a child I was acutely aware that I held far more in common with girls than boys.  I was probably 7 or 8 when I started seriously crossdressing, well before puberty.

Have you ever eaten this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Tso%27s_chicken)? :V
To be honest, I've never had it up until 2 weeks ago.  I didn't really care for it but to be honest I was sick that day.  I felt like I was going to puke shortly after lunch so I don't think I gave it a fair shake.

How do you feel about the term "fly-over states"? What about the entire "red state/blue state" paradigm?
I fully agree with fly-over states.  There's really not much here in the midwest.  Unless you're near an urban area, it's just miles of corn and wheat and cows.  It's beautiful in places but it absolutely sucks for creature comforts or any sort of trapping of modern civilization.  As for the red state/blue state paradigm, I don't think the divide is as deep as the talking heads like to portray it as.

I think on a basic level (excusing some social rights issues), we're all about on the same page, it's just the talking heads like to drum it up as an us vs them in order to push ratings and try to stir controversy.  We all want to protect jobs, we all want workers rights and other things, it just depends on who got in trouble for what scandal the last election which way the state swings.  Texas is probably the only area that is securely Republican, everywhere else has swung between the two parties depending on who fucked up last.

That being said there's still a lot of growing the south and the midwest have to do.  Racism is still a big issue in the Deep South and I doubt we'll get gay and immigrant rights in the "red states" anytime soon.  Ohio is in a weird state where we have the highest percentage of gay people in the country (higher than the bay area), yet our state is so very homophobic.  We passed our anti gay marriage amendment with a 3/4ths majority, and signed into law making discrimination on gender orientation an unprotected status.

Is there any other country in the world where you'd live? How about countries you'd visit?
Live?  Probably Canada or anywhere in Europe.  While I'd like to live in Japan or Korea, I know how hard it is as a foreigner to live there so I'm not sure I'd be able to make it.  To visit?  Oh any where really.  Southeast Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, etc) in particular I'd like to visit someday, and definitely South America.

Are you the only Idiot Deity in MoTK or is there someone else? Is there a limit to a number of ID's at any given time?
Well according to this (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=groups;sa=members;group=19), I guess I am the only ID at the moment.  There's a limit of 3 at any given time.  The Cirno account is a gag account for the staff (complete with member ID of 9).

You've played Sakura Taisen, right? Which one was your favourite game, and why?
It's been forever since I've played them but ST3 (the Paris one) definitely stuck out as my favorite.  The setting stuck to me better than the Imperial Troupe.  And I absolutely adore Erica <3 <3 <3

Any particular genre preferences?
I'll read almost anything.  Anything you think that's good I'm willing to give a shot BV

You named your hardware Suou and Yin. I demand your participation in Darker than Black Mafia.
God I haven't played mafiers in years and I'm not sure if I want to start that all over again :|

did someone ever confessed to you ?
-> rejected?

would you be shy if it happen (again) in the near future?
Noone's ever confessed to me no, mostly because I've never really actively sought out romantic relationships or looked like I was available.  If I was confessed to, I honestly don't know how I'd handle it.

I've never read any Pratchett books.  I've been seriously considering an ebook reader of some sort so I'll definitely put it on my list.

What music act do you enjoy that most people here would be surprised to learn you enjoy?
Heavy metal and a lot of classical rock.  Give me Rush or Iron Maiden or Def Leppard any day.  I enjoy a good headbang now and then.

Quote
Name a life event that made you more aware of who you are, i.e., made you realize something about your personality that you hadn't noticed before.
Hmm... I have to say my junior year of high school, right after we moved I was getting into the new school, and like usual my dad was trying to push me into doing football.  I had wanted to do marching band when I first entered high school but I wasn't really given much of a choice and ended up doing football my two years in Maryland.  But this was a new school, and I was determined  to finally do what I wanted to do, but at the same time I didn't want to disappoint my parents.  I eventually earned up the courage to tell him what I really wanted to do, and after a long talk, he gave me his blessing and I began marching band.  At that point I realized that I needed to choose what I wanted to do in life, not let my parents tell me what to do.  I had stood up to my dad and in the end I didn't get struck down like I feared.  After that point, the relationship with my parents changed.  I was no longer doing stuff to please them.  For a while I kind of floundered around with no clue or motivation but eventually I learned how to walk my own path instead of the path others laid for me.

Quote
Let's say I wanted to visit Ohio. What is the one thing I absolutely must see?
There's not much here to be honest.  On the short list of things I'd say you'd absolutely have to see would be the Rock and Roll Museum in Cleveland.  Cedar Point and King's Island are two fantastic theme parks if that's your thing.  We have the Pro Football Hall of Fame but it's pretty meh to be honest even as a football fan.  The Columbus Zoo is one of the best in the world.  We have Muirfield, one of, if not the most prestigious golf course in America.  There's a couple of local dives that make some very good food (the Thurmanator (http://www.thethurmancafe.com/the-thurmanator-is-awesome-2/) for example).  And every year we have the Arnold Fitness Expo but that's honestly kind of creepy ._____.  Oh I guess we had Gencon last year and we're a Major League Gaming city.

I can't really pin one thing that is absolutely hands down the one thing you have to see above all else.  Nothing against Ohio, there's just not much here that I would say you have to see once in your lifetime.

If there is one bit of serious life advice you could give everyone here, what would it be?
You only have one life, don't be afraid to take a wild shot at something, especially while you're young and you have nothing tying you down.

the border on the way out

What sort of policies would you find important for the area you live in?
LGBT rights are the only think I'm really concerned about.  I don't have kids so there's not much else I'm concerned on.  A good school system would be nice if I do end up going into education.

How do you feel about studying mathematics? (Whether it's applied math or pure math)
I LOVE math.  I studied it endlessly.  I was in college calculus my junior year of high school because I loved math so much :V  I worked out vector calculations and taught myself some basic stats so I could get better at Pangya and Starcraft/Supreme Commander >>;;.  Now would I choose it as a primary field of study?  I'm not sure, I think that ends up being far too much in the theoretical realm for me.  I like the physical sciences because there's an actual product you can directly observe in some sort of manner.

Can you play the piano?
No ;_____; that's the one instrument I don't know.  I took piano lessons when I was little but I never really followed up on it.  I suppose I could teach myself fairly easily.

Quote
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully with my bachelor's degree in my hand and working on a doctorate.  Possibly married and well, more comfortable with my personal situation.

Quote
Do you believe in fate?
That's an interesting question.  Do I believe we're all here for a reason?  I do.  Do I believe we all have a set destiny?  In some sort of fashion, yes.  But in the end I think we ultimately have the final power over our lives.  Basically how I feel is that God put the pieces in motion for an eventuality, it's up to us to decide where we fall and what role we end up playing.  Like in the case of Judas, someone was bound to betray Jesus, and while Judas was "possessed by the Devil", he inevitably made the final decision to do it.  This is why I don't believe that God allows bad things to just happen.  He only put the natural laws in place, He doesn't dictate or control every single thing that happens in the Universe.

This is also why I feel we're not alone in the Universe.  God only created Man in His image in the sense that we have free will and the awareness to look beyond the "what" and wonder about the "how" and the "why".  He put the pieces in place for sentient life to eventually evolve, so if life can evolve here, why not anywhere else?  Hence what I meant about He set a general destiny, but leaves the details up to us.  Where you fall in the plan is completely up to you.

Do you believe in Fate?
Fate Testarossa <3 <3 <3

why do you keep insisting on worshiping idra
I can't help but love the Gracken.

Favorite color?
Any pastel really, but especially green and blue.

Quote
some hobbys ?
Computers and games of course, electronics, filmography, music (both listening and playing).  I also enjoy hiking and just exploring nature in general, although I haven't done that lately :(

Quote
plannig to live in a house, appartement, mansion or castle ? last tow were jokes but who knows ^_^ I want to live in a huge mansion
I honestly don't want that big of a house.  What matters to me more is the setting rather than the size.  I definitely need access to nature (and the Internet).

Maybe, right now I like doing things on my own simply because I have so much I need to put into place.  Once things are in order I might start training some assistants.

I know you have to be an aviation nut by the patches on your bag.  What's your opinion:  Boeing vs. Airbus?
What, the US company that sold all of our aviation prowess away to the Chinese, or the European country that's more American than our own? :V  Seriously though, I'd have to say Boeing simply because I come from a military background and Boeing is all over the military.  My dad was part of the evaluation and shakedown competitions between the two JSF candidates as well as the initial F/A-18 Super Hornet carrier trials.  I got a chance to fly in the real combat simulator for the Super Hornet (and shot down my brother in a dogfight \o/).  That thing was so freaking sweet.

Did your dad ever meet anyone on the U.S.S. Douglas? (She was a patrol gunboat, active in the seventies, and was my dad's ship)
My dad was born in 1963 so.... I seriously doubt it :derp:  Sorry :ohdear:.

Quote
What's your favorite physical location in Gensokyo?
Probably Moriya Shrine.  I love the mountains so much <3

Quote
What's the highest achievement you hope to have in life as a scholar? As a human being?
In my dreams?  Nobel Prize :V.  Not for the recognition but because it represents that I've made a significant contribution to the furthering of human knowledge.  Realistically?  A nice family and a group of students I've successfully mentored and instilled the love of discovery and creativity into.  End goal I definitely want to be in education in some capacity.   If not music education then definitely one of the sciences.

Quote
I'll put you on the list of people interested in the room. :3 It'd be nice having another lady here, my brother's girlfriend is the only one right now.

Are you a good swimmer? If so, do you enjoy swimming?
I greatly enjoy swimming.  I am pretty decent at it although I've never been really fast at it :derp:

Quote
Would you prefer a pool, a stream, or the beach for swimmins'?
I've actually never swam in a stream or a lake before.  I've lived on countless beaches of course and pools and stuff and I could say they both have their pluses and minuses.

I feel that I should ask this follow-up: How far have you gotten in math when you were still in school? (Or at least your history of math courses.)
Linear algebra was as far as I got.

As someone who plays a lot of RTS games, have you touched the Command & Conquer series? What regard do you hold it in compared to say, the original Starcraft or TA?
I've never really actually played the CnC series.  None of my friends were into it growing up so we never really gave it a shot.  I still hold TA in high regards but I'll admit Starcraft has become the superior game competition wise.  I think TA has the deeper gameplay though, it's just hard to balance 2 races without making them exactly the same.

Quote
What's your opinion on Supreme Commander? Do you consider it to be a worthy successor to TA?
I loved it.  I definitely consider it a worthy successor.  While it had some flaws, I think it captured the feel of the original game very well.  It definitely solidified the core gameplay while providing a much better framework to balance around.  I still think it has the best UI of any game, period.  While each race wasn't terribly unique, they still had enough flavor to make them distinct.

Quote
Would I be right to assume that A's is your favorite part of the Nanoha series?
Very much so, and Hayate my favorite character.

Anyways, why Zerg? Out of all the races, why that?
It's a seat of your pants race.  I don't like being pigeonholed into specific build orders or unit compositions.  Plus it's the most macro oriented of the 3 races.  The biggest thing I never really liked about Starcraft was having to babysit your units.  I far preferred to be the general watching the field and giving the big sweeping orders, not telling each individual soldier how to breathe.  Hence why I ended up getting far more attached to TA and SupCom than Starcraft.  But Zerg let me be that.  From my hive I commanded the swarm, and wave after wave of my creations pound against enemy emplacements and overwhelm.  I enjoy it immensely.

Quote
Do you use an infrared mouse? If so, what is it?
I use a Logitech G9 at work, and on my desktop I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0.

Quote
What do you think is your most favorite food in the Philippines?
Adobo chicken, yum yum yum <3

Your opinion on today's popular music?
I never have and probably never will enjoy American pop music.  I'm just not a fan of hiphop/r&b.  Jpop is a bit of a different story, but that's mostly because Jpop tends to be influenced by trance and other electronica (well at least the acts I enjoy).

Quote
Hot or cold weather?
Mild weather.  I can tolerate both extremes, but I only really "enjoy" cold weather when there's snow on the ground, and hot weather when it's a dry heat and not muggy as fuck D:

Quote
Your favorite DoW/Starcraft unit?
For DoW2, Stormboys.  I too, wish to be an insane ork who straps a rocket to their back just to punch things.  Second would have to be the motherfucking Swarmlord, because the dude's a pimp and he knows it.  Starcraft probably banelings, simply because the speed upgrade makes them so goofy.  I always shout BANELINGS, TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT before I attack with them.

Quote
The fastest you've ever gone in a car?
I live in the middle of nowhere so the road to my house has some decent straightaways with noone around to bother me.  I routinely test to see how fast I can push what I'm driving.  I think the fastest I've ever gone is around 115mph or so in my mom's Impala.  I couldn't go higher because it had a rev limiter.

What is the worst job you've ever done?
I had a one day temp gig working at a Scotts warehouse.  My job was to take expired/damaged bags of fertilizer, open them up, and dump them into big bins.  I'm fairly sure I lost about 6 months off my lifespan that day, my lungs were burning (they didn't provide breathing protection beyond basic dust masks and it was like 90 degrees in there) and I was covered in yellow caustic dust.  I threw out my clothes and I never really got all the gunk out of my cellphone.

How do you deal with a mouth ulcera?
Oh god I have a medical condition that gives me those constantly.  I had one last week near my gums that was so bad I couldn't brush my teeth without horrible pain.

Get the nook, it's the better choice of the three big names out there (Sony Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, and the Amazon Kindle)

Then you can ride my case about finishing up the conversions of the KGB stories! \o/
My mom has a Nook (got it for her for Christmas) and while it seems nice, I'm not entirely sold on it.  The Kindle looks a bit nicer, but I'm holding out for a full tablet like the HP TouchPad at the moment.  As for the KGB thing, I'm already working on the ability to convert threads into arbitrary formats (including PDF/EPUB), but that's way down on my list of things to do.

Quote
Following up on the RTS question, what's your opinion of MBA - or Multiplayer Battle Arena - style games, mostly common of which is Defenders of the Ancients/Shrine? Do they hold your interest at all, or is that style of PvP not your forte/cup of tea?
I don't really care for them because there's too little to control.  It's literally just your hero, no control over the creep waves and stuff.  I like DoW2 because it's that same style of tactical play with minimal econ/base building, but with far more units to control.  I just think the tactical ceiling is too low on DotA and its clones, it's more akin to a beat em up than any sort of strategy game.  That being said I've honestly not played them beyond 1 or 2 games of DotA.  DoW2 just sucks up way too much of my time :V

Hei x Yin or Hei x Amber or Hei x Suou and why?
Something's wrong with your keyboard, you misspelled Yin x Suou.

Do you prefer to look for long term relationships, or just dating around?
I dunno, I don't have much of an interest in a love life right now given my current life status.  I am interested in meeting new people sure, especially for long term friendships.  But right now I have well, a nonexistant drive for anything beyond being a friend if you get my drift.

Quote
Have you ever been to a nuclear reactor complex?
No, and it sucks because I lived literally 20 minutes from one in Maryland (Calvert Cliffs) and then 9/11 happened and there will never be visitation access to nuclear plants ever again.

Quote
Do you think we'll see a colony on the moon/Mars in our lifetime?
I think so.  Maybe not in the next 10-20 years, but eventually we'll have to reach out to the stars.  It's an inevitability.

is there any other carreer you would love to do as much as nuclear medecine ? (don't say normal medecine  :V )
What I would want to do the most?  Ballet actually.  I've wanted to be a ballerina since I was a toddler but unfortunately I wasn't permitted to take ballet growing up :(.  Second would be working in theater, either as an actor or in the pit orchestra as a musician.

For sciences, astrophysics and biochemstry are the two other fields I'd want to get into (and have actually studied in).  Music teaching would be a great job for me as well.  Another ideal job of mine is audio/acoustic engineering, either being one of the sound effect guys in movies or working sound stuff for concerts/recording studios.  And of course filmography, specifically camera work.

What is your favourite drink?
I <3 <3 <3 banana or strawberry shakes.  I'm not a big pop drinker but I love sugar cane sodas, especially strawberry or cherry flavored ones.  I don't drink alcohol except maybe once or twice a year at most but when I do I like gin and tonics.

What if you were to just Sauron Zerg a well established Terran base? You'd technically lose resources trying to defeat an undefeatable defense. Sometimes micromanagement is needed to win such games.

What advice would you give to a person who wants to change genders?
Make sure you are absolutely sure this is what you want.  While I don't think there's any "bad" reason to do it, do realize that it's not going to be easy by a long shot.  While I'm fairly sure I was "born" this way, I don't get hung up on the choice vs birth argument because does it really matter?  If someone chooses to change genders it's their choice, regardless of their reasons or if they were "born" that way.

Keep your composure and your confidence.  People will come for you and try to tear you down and best thing you can do is to prove them wrong and persevere despite the challenges.  And above all, surround yourself with people who support and love you for who you are.  It's going to get lonely, be prepared to lose everything you may have had in your past life (I'm fully prepared and almost expectant I'm going to get disowned by my family).  Your happiness is worth more than their comfort, trust me, I thought I could just live a lie to save my parents and my family the embarrassment and in the end it just made me miserable.  Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

So far, no teeth been interviewed. When can we expect this to happen?
Don't make me bite you >:F

What is your favorite movie? Favorite book?
Oh I have so many "favorite" movies for different reasons.  Probably the one that sticks out the most is Monsters Inc.  I love every joke in it and I always cry at the ending sequence.  I love pretty much every Tarantino and Rodriguez flick, and the 80/90s action moves like Robocop and Total Recall and Die Hard.  I'm also a sucker for chick flicks and romantic comedies although recent ones have been pretty awful.  I have a very wide and varied movie taste.

As for favorite book, hmm.  I'd probably have to say "A Brief History of Time".  I think Hawking is one of the foremost minds of our time, if not the most brilliant person alive.  Both him and Carl Sagan are directly responsible for my absolute adoration of space and of science in general.

What if you were to just Sauron Zerg a well established Terran base? You'd technically lose resources trying to defeat an undefeatable defense. Sometimes micromanagement is needed to win such games.
One, you never let Terran get to that point.  Sauron Zerg is just a style of hoarding up upgrades and preferring expansion play over timing attacks to assert map control.  Sauron Zerg has never truly been bested in terms of straight tactics, all counters to it revolve around the concept of delaying the Zerg from turning its macro machine up to 11 and giving you some breathing room to catch up.  Endgame still favors Zerg heavily, even with the most entrenched of opponents.  I think a big reason why Jaedong consistently loses to Flash is more because Flash is just a better macro player than Jaedong.  Flash has won with some very bizarre builds (all Goliath +1 timing attack?!), and I think that's more a testament of Flash's superior mechanics than any superior build.

Two, the micromanagement required to crack such bases is pretty minimal, dark swarm usage and muta harass isn't exactly anywhere near on the level of marine/medic splitting vs lurkers or reaver/shuttle micro or hell, just proper storm usage.  Deathdrops are something that almost every Terran (excluding Flash) has dismal success dealing with.  And it's still far more important for you to keep up your massive macro, even to the detriment of your micro.  Plus I'm not exactly uncomfortable with micro.  I play DoW2 which has far deeper micro than Starcraft ever will, Starcraft just has more going on overall hence the higher APM requirement.

Haha, don't get me started on Flash. He's called a robot for a reason. Maphacks, even. The Goliath +1 timing is actually pretty easy to counter for Zerg if you ask me, it's just that Jaedong relies on his Mutalisks more, that's why he gets annihiliated every time because Gol can beat Mutas any time. He's also a macro beast. It's like, he only wants to build one Goliath, but the game decides to give him 5.

With regards to micro, I find Zerg to be one of the least dependent on it. In fact, if you want to be a bit laid back, just waypoint units to the enemy base, take care of the production. But in some early games of Zerg, where you need to pressure your opponent with zerglings, it's very well needed. The miniscule health of Zerglings means that they will be torn up if just charged on straight. Surround a ball with zerglings, though, and maybe they might just win.

Take Slayers_Boxer, for example. In his prime, he could do a lot with a group of Marines with +1 and 6 medics to a Zerg expansion. Splitting them up to defeat Lurkers, using one marine to bait the other fire, all while harassing a Zerg expansion. In the end, when that MnM army gets wiped out, what is the tradeoff? With such micro, you can turn battles around like a breeze.

It's just people's opinion, though. Nobody is perfect in terms of Micro and Macro, and it's impossible to be a master of the two at the same time. I just say that Micro is a very important part in RTS, that's all.

BACK TO THE QUESTIONS: Are you in a clan in DoW2? Do you feel good when gamers find out a girl is better than them?

Exactly, the +1 timing is extremely weak to lurkerling or even hydraling (since you don't have the tank numbers to counter hydras), but Flash knew that Jaedong is too reliant on muta harass.  As much as I like Jaedong, he's nowhere near the strategic geniuses July and Savior were.

Well yeah, but at that stage of the game you can afford the attention to micro.  Once the game gets past the early state though give it up, microing as Zerg has far fewer returns as the other races.

And yes, in the early stages of the sport, you could win with superior micro.  But look what happened when macro-oriented players started getting into the groove.  Micro players were left in the dust.

Oh I agree, above all it's a balance of time and attention.  The different races give different returns to micro and macro play.  I just prefer macro hence why I went Zerg.  Plus zerglings are cute <3

Nope, not in a clan.  Just played with the same 2 buddies since the game came out.  I'm a strategy specialist on Gamereplays.org (although retired now).  As for "a girl beat them" I don't exactly tell them.  My RL friends don't exactly know about me and my situation and I'm not the type to brag as it is anyways :<

I <3 scifi.  Growing up I used to watch TNG every single Thursday.  I am a huge Trekkie, and I rewatch TNG and Deep Space 9 all the time.  I love Battlestar Galactica as well.  If it's scifi/space related I've probably watched it.  Right now I'm watching through Babylon 5 and I recently finished Firefly.

When haven't I been honest? :(

No I haven't read any fics, I don't tend to read fanfiction that often.  Nothing against the concept of it, I just don't tend to get that deeply into the universe outside of the author's canon works.  Only exception I've ever made is for Star Wars books, as a lot of the EU books are really really good, and to be frank Lucas only showed a very narrow section of it.  I guess the same argument could be made for Touhou =P

I wouldn't be against reading it if you pointed out some must read stories.  In the case of Star Wars I only got into it because my friends were into it.

I don't really have much of a mindset, mostly because I play DoW2 to wind down after a long day.  I get into it while I'm in the game, but most of the time I'm just tabbed out automatching.  In game I'm all focus though, and of course depending on the outcome I'm either happy or mad :V

I don't have much love for material possessions but if I were to say I had one it would be something with a lot of memories attached to it.  I have a picture from a local artist of one of the fourth grade classrooms in my elementary school.  Artistically it's not exactly "high art" but looking at it reminds me of so much of my childhood.

In no less than 200 words, justify why your favorite touhou is the best. Should you be a cool cat who has no favorites, rhapsodize on your however-many way tie for first under the same constraint.
The shrine of Moriya stands leagues above the rest of those... unclean.  And her defender, Sanae, the purest and cutest of holy woman.  Pure and untouched by the evils of the outside worlds, she stands before the barrier of good and evil.  The rest of the Touhous are a wash of debauchery and immorality.  Lies, trickery, thievery, murder, cannibalism, sloth, lust, gluttony, the rest of the touhous symbolize all that is wrong with the world.  Yet Sanae, on top of her mountainous shrine, represents all that is good.  Look at her counterpart, Reimu.  She is a lying, thieving and lazy slut, unable to give of anything except to herself.  What god does she worship, other than herself?

As for the other houses and characters, what do they represent?  What does Marisa represent other than thievery and shortcuts?  What does Alice represent other than slavery?  And Yukari, Yuyuko and Remilia?  The Yagokoro house?  The sloth and pride and gluttony of nobility.  And their servants are just as guilty as their masters, willingly following such debauchery and waste.  And look what levels they stoop to, to try to discredit Sanae.  Calling her slutty and lazy and dumb.  Is it pride that makes them strike out as such?  Jealously?

But Sanae, Sanae is indeed, a good girl.

Which did you like more, TNG, or DS9?
Both scratch different itches.  TNG is a nice childhood show, a different wonder and a different challenge every episode.  But DS9 appeals more to the adult in me, that feeds on story and depth and characters.  I watch TNG to escape, and I watch DS9 to immerse.

Quote
Who is your favorite Trek character?
Hmm... I'd have to say a tie between Picard and Sisko.  Picard is a diplomat and a scholar, and I think Patrick Stewart is one of the best actors of the modern age.  Sisko is just complete badass though.  He takes the Prime Directive and gives it a roundhouse kick while shooting several Jem'hadar at once.

Quote
What's a bad habit you have, and would like to drop?
Procrastination.  I put off some of the stupidest things too, like cleaning up my room or exercising, simply because I think I can "do it later".

Quote
What's the farthest you've traveled on your own?
I've only traveled to Maryland on my own, I just haven't had the time or the means to be able to travel solo.

Quote
Do you believe it's possible for one to be able to see the future?
I think it's possible to get some very good insights and scenarios of what the future may hold, but noone can actually predict it with any sort of accuracy.  If you look at all the great "prophets" and oracles, their insights are usually extremely vague and nonspecific.  People tend to latch onto them simply because people look for meaning in the world, and sometimes the comfort of having no control over one's destiny is desirable.  To me though I couldn't stand the thought of having everything laid out for me and there'd be nothing I could do about it.  It means that free will and self determination is a joke, and there's no point to any of this.

Block your ramp off. Cover your base so that you don't get nydus'd. Kiting with anything usually works, or setting up seige tanks (works wonders gainst roach as well).

Hydra,Ultra or Corrupters (& Brood)? With your roach build that is.
Hydraroach owns.  Ultraroach is a waste though because both are tanky so there's need for both of them.  Corruptor-roach is an unusual but effective build in PvZ mostly because the good counters to roaches, immortals and stalkers, kind of get chewed apart when corrupted.  Plus you could easily start fielding hydras and zerglings to counter those but they can't safely transition to colossi, the natural counter to hydraling.

Did you see the Remilia cosplay last year at otakon ? It was sooooo well done O and I want to check out the shop again :D and taste the curry again I can't wait :(
There were so many Touhou cosplayers, I didn't really notice that stood out.

:ohdear: Lady Remilia she's not like that  :(   :ohdear:

Did you ever watch the original Star Trek series? The movies? What did you think of the last Trek movie?

The epic fan question: Sisko with hair, or Sisko with goatee?

If you were guaranteed the ability to see the future with absolute accuracy, would you accept it for what it is, or try to change it for the better?

If there was one thing you could go back in time and change, what would it be?

Do you ever sit out and night and just look up into the night sky, allowing yourself to get lost  in its infinite expanse?

Do you enjoy taking a moonlit stroll?

Can you endow to me your magnificent fashion sense!?

Buy me sushi?
No buy me first D:<

are you putting effort in order to get over some of your weaknesses ? or are you lazying around :D?
Eh, depends on your definition of lazy.  For the exercise/eating right thing I'm just busy busy busy and when I get home I'm exhausted.  I'd imagine I'd eat better if I didn't work 9-10hr days most of the week.  Other stuff I've been putting off because I'm afraid of the outcomes :(

Did you ever watch the original Star Trek series? The movies? What did you think of the last Trek movie?
I only watched bits and parts of TOS.  The movies I love, Wrath of Khan is amazing and I don't care First Contact was fun (although Nemesis really sucked).  I haven't watched the newest Trek movie yet.

Quote
The epic fan question: Sisko with hair, or Sisko with goatee?
Goatee.  Space captains gain +20 to CHA when they're bald.

Quote
If you were guaranteed the ability to see the future with absolute accuracy, would you accept it for what it is, or try to change it for the better?
If I could see the future with absolute accuracy, wouldn't that imply that I had no effect on it?  It wouldn't be 100% accuracy if I could change it now would it :V  That being said I'd have to say no, simply because if all of this is predestined I would prefer to be in denial and think we still had some power in our destiny.

Quote
If there was one thing you could go back in time and change, what would it be?
I would go back to my 8 year old self and tell her that what she's feeling is ok and nothing to be ashamed of.  I would have told her to fight more to do ballet and gymnastics and marching band and stuff instead of just doing what my parents expected of me.

Quote
Do you ever sit out and night and just look up into the night sky, allowing yourself to get lost  in its infinite expanse?
Practically every night.  I live out in the country so we don't have any light pollution.  During the summer I will spend hours outside laying on the grass looking at the stars.  I'm waiting for it to get warm again so I can start doing that.

Quote
Do you enjoy taking a moonlit stroll?
I would love to, but that's also the downside of living in the country.  It's not exactly safe to just go walking as I'm likely to get ran over >_>

I'm sorry, I got "da rulez" pounded into me as a kid. :<

Anyways, silly questions!

What kind of clothes do you think looks nice for guys?
Slacks, buttoned shirts, etc.  T-shirts are ok as long as they're not like wifebeaters or just plain white.  I don't like super slob.  A guy in a suit is awesome.  Guys need to learn to wear more colorful things too.  There's nothing gay about wearing colors that aren't a shade of black or dark blue or khaki.

Quote
How about nice clothes for girls?
Ehehehehe.  Anything involving tights or thighhighs wins in my book.  Skirts are wonderful, but nothing I guess too short or too revealing.  I'm not into super slut stuff that shows like massive amount of cleavage.  At the same time it needs to be flattering and form fitting, not puffy like a marshmallow.  The more subtle the better.

I absolutely love elbow gloves but I know those aren't practical =P

Quote
Can you endow to me your magnificent fashion sense!?
I really don't have that good of a fashion sense :ohdear:.  You can ask PC, I am absolutely terrible at picking outfits out :(.

Worst physical pain you had to suffer?
Football gave me all sorts of bumps and bruises.  I almost broke my arm and I wrecked my left ankle to the point I hobble from time to time.  But that's nothing compared to having whooping cough your senior year, during marching band season.  I literally could not breathe and it was awful, just gasping for air.

I had something similar during my junior year; the choir went on a trip to Florida for a contest, and shortly after we came back, I had contracted bronchitis. Not quite the same scenario, but I definitely feel you on not being able to breathe. :ohdear:

Yeah I had it for months.  It's awful.  You can't really do anything about it anyways because by the time the coughing fits start the bacteria is already dead and done with.  It's just leftover damage from the toxins it released.

Quote
What gave you the idea for the random Prinny generator on IRC (assuming that's what it is)?
It's not really "random".  I wrote the services for PPIrC by hand based off another services package (SurrealServices).  Most services have support to "guest" people who are using someone else's nick and don't login after 30 seconds.  But instead of just plain boring Guest12345, I figured I'd give it a little "flavor" and make it Prinny12345 :V.  The ghost kill messages are Pangya memes (fitting with the original Pangya purpose of the network).

I dunno if this was already asked, but how do you feel about moderating the forums for rule breakers, and what motivates you to keep working?
I don't tend to do much in terms of rule breaking anymore except in clear cut cases like piracy.  I definitely have an opinion but I tend to bow towards the insight of the other guys on staff.  Not because I don't have an opinion, I just don't enjoy getting my blood pressure skyrocketing anymore.

I think there's a lot of stuff that just makes me outright frustrated at times.  I understand the relationship is give and take between the users and the staff, but at times I feel like there's too much give from the staff and too much take from the users.  Especially when I try to have a little fun there's always some sort of crisis involved.  I mean, the communist thing was just awful.  It was just a bit of fun and I got nothing but crap about it :\  Then there's times when I have to put the hammer down and people give me grief because I didn't do it exactly like they wanted.

But above that, what keeps me moving is a desire to keep this community together.  The rules aren't in place to find excuses to beat on people.  They're there to hold order together and keep things accessible not just for the people already here, but for new people who may not have met this place yet.  And I want this place to continue to grow, not just stagnate.  It's a fine line though balancing between making the place friendly for new people and comfortable for the old guard.  I don't like it when people think I'm just being hostile to them just because I won't bend to their every whim.  You have to realize I'm coming from a much different angle than the typical user.

I dunno, it's definitely the most frustrating and least enjoyable part of this job.

Matter/antimatter would hit extremely close to 100%.  But outside of the realm of science fiction, there's a lot of work on using sterling engines in the exhaust heat of typical steam-driven designs to eek out some extra efficiency.  There's also ways to do things like pipe compressed gas into hollow caverns to exploit pressure differentials for power generation.

Quote
-> What would you believe has been the best era of mainstream music?
The big band era by far.  Jazz, swing, blues, all have their roots from big bands.  And I am a big fan of the Rat Pack and other singers of that era.

Eh not really, my desk is perfect for the most part.  I just don't like my height because I'm at the height where I'm too short to be at head level with the crowd, but not short enough to stick out.  Plus I have trouble finding stuff in my height.

If anyone of us here on MotK went to Otakon, would you mind meeting them in person? (Forgive me if you have done so already)
It's the biggest reason I keep on going to Otakon year after year, to have the chance to meet you morons in person.  I've went to Otakon 6 years straight and I've met all sorts of characters from MotK and #shrinemaiden.  Mostly I go and hang out with my Megatokyo/#forum-m buddies simply because I've been going to Otakon with them since the start.  I met a bunch of people last year from MotK and it was a lot of fun although I wish I had more time to spend with them (I spent most of the con with the #forum-m'ers).

How do you pronounce "MotK" ("Em-Oh-Tee-Kay," "Mot-Kuh," or another way)?
Em-Oh-Tee-Kay.  Mot-Kuh sounds so weird.

You up for organizing an MotK meet at Otakon? I could use a good excuse to actually use my vacation time this year
I'm actually running an MotK room for Otakon this year.  We got 2 rooms at the Hyatt.  We're at 9 people as of last check, but I've probably forgotten a few people.  The #forum-m guys I hang out with generally have a dinner on Thursday, perhaps we could do something like that?  Closer to con time we can make definitive plans for a meet/lunch/whatever.

Quote
Have you ever gotten yourself crazy drunk before?
I don't like drinking at all.  I only drink socially, and very rare at that.  I'll drink a few to loosen the tongue, but I really don't like the taste of alcohol.  It's gotta be some supersweet girly drink for me to really tolerate it, beer and straight liquor is right out.  I've never gotten knockout drunk before.  Link (Nazrin in #shrinemaiden) was stupid drunk last year where I had to carry him back to his room >_>.  I just don't like losing control over my body, so I'll never drink enough where I'll seriously be impaired.

Quote
Do you enjoy watching the sunrise over the open country?
It's a beautiful sight If I get up early enough :derp:  I'm not really a morning person.  And on the weekends seeing the sunrise means I need to goto bed >_>.  Thankfully for me the sun rises across an open field, the western sky is blocked by a small forest behind our house.

Duckies!  I loves them.  So cute and fluffy and quack quack quack.  I want a duck as a pet, they're so awesome.

Quote
Do you have any pets?
2 cats, and a purebred black lab.  The lab is oh so loving and cuddly, and she's actually really tiny for her breed.  Everyone thinks she's a puppy (and she definitely acts it) but she's like 3 years old now.

Would it flatter you if I said that your Ask a Staffer edition should last longer? Like for all of them. I'm sure people have a whole lot of questions that they might ask for the staff.
I'm flattered, but nothing says you have to have a thread to ask questions.  I'm always available on IRC or PM or you can try to catch me on Skype/MSN/Steam.  I would actually like it, it's kind of lonely where I'm at :(.  Noone wants to talk to you unless something's broken or they got in trouble and they want to scream at you.  Noone walks up to me and just wants to talk, I always have to start the conversation and I'm horribly shy :ohdear:.

I suppose I could open the archive up for postings after the threads are done (now that we have a separate subforum for them) but leave the spotlight on this week's interview.  I'll think about it.

Using this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita_fashion) as reference, along with Google-tan, what is the most appealing style of rorita?
Hime Lolita =P  I love tiaras and princessy stuff.  I'm not that big of a fan of black, and I don't think I'd be able to pull off Shiro Lolita that well.

Holy god. Are they MSiA or Graded Gunpla?

This is why I love Eisenhower.  He knew that the military industrial complex was a danger and a disaster waiting to happen, and the more money spent on wars the less would be available for society.  And arguably, he was in probably the most dangerous time period ever in modern history, at the height of the Cold War.

Hmm... I loved Sailor Moon and Animaniacs and Dexter's Lab and stuff growing up, and I still hold them in high regard.  It's not nostalgia either, I recently rewatched Courage the Cowardly Dog and it's still as great as it was when I was little.  I show my little brothers the stuff I grew up with all the time.  They love Ed Edd n Eddy.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

If you had the event to change any event in history to the outcome you wished, what event would it be and why? (Doesn't have to be a one-day event, it can be gradual or something.)

Sounds like a plan. :3

What's your favorite dessert item?

If you could ask God (or whichever deity you hold in highest regard) any question, what would it be?

Do you believe there's any good justification for going to war?

What would you do if you were suddenly drafted into the armed forces?

If push came to shove, and you were seemingly out of options, would you be able to kill someone?

Basically look in #shrinemaiden for a ~ that isn't |7hs| and that's me.  I change my name like every 2 minutes.  I try to keep TSO in it to not be TOO confusing but I'm a dork so if you just shout out TSO or whatever you'll find me.  And I'm bored when I'm at work because boring :<

Do you enjoy the company of children?
Very much so.  I know this sounds creepy pedo, but I volunteered to be the Sunday School aid for the 2nd and 3rd graders for years.  I had all sorts of fun reading stories with my favorite stuffed raccoon puppet.

Quote
Have you ever thought of being a mother?
Thought about it?  It's the one thing I really wish I could be, and the one thing I'm devastated I'll never be able to be (at least not in a procreation sense) :(.

Quote
If you could have a child, would it be a son or a daughter?
I wouldn't care.  Whichever I'd get would probably get a pretty feminine upbringing =P I'd be terrible and dress my son up in girly stuff and sailor moon outfits and things like that for halloween when they're little XD.  A daughter would be nice too because then I wouldn't be a weirdo for doing that =P

.__.
It doesn't bother me that badly, just the thought of doing it makes me go blech XP.  As long as you're not like, biting them until they bleed then I'm not going to care that much.

Quote
What is your idea of a perfect day?
Sunny, breezy and 70s-80s, a nice gorgeous day with not a care to worry about.  Me in a nice sun dress and straw hat.  Take a nice stroll through a meadow and maybe a picnic or just a quiet day reading in the shade of a big tree.  Then at night spend the hours gazing at the stars laying on top of a grassy hill.

Another perfect day would be during winter, big snow falling outside.  Huddled by the fire with someone nice to lean against <3.

Quote
If you had the event to change any event in history to the outcome you wished, what event would it be and why? (Doesn't have to be a one-day event, it can be gradual or something.)
Hmm... if possible I would try to prevent the burning of the Library of Alexandria.  So much history and knowledge was lost during that tragic moment and for what?  Greed?  Jealousy?  It was a pointless act and in my opinion set us back countless centuries.  There's relics we're still discovering to this day that match or even surpass their modern day counterparts (the Astrolabe being one of them).

Sounds like a plan. :3

What's your favorite dessert item?
Cheesecake <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Quote
If you could ask God (or whichever deity you hold in highest regard) any question, what would it be?
Why?  Why intentionally create sentient life knowing you're giving them the free will to disobey and reject you?  I would suspect the answer would be far beyond anything I could comprehend.

Quote
Do you believe there's any good justification for going to war?
I think there's justification for defending one's home, and maybe justification for providing assistance to rebels overthrowing brutal dictators, but never any justification for an offensive war, ever.  Disposing of a dictator without the will of the people doesn't solve the underlying problem, and we should never act in aggression towards anyone, ever.  Force is reserved as a deterrent and a defense only, not to conquer and expand.

Quote
What would you do if you were suddenly drafted into the armed forces?
Didn't I already answer this? :V  If it came to the point where I'm drafted then shit has hit the fan and I'd be scared out of my mind.  Would I do it?  Depends on the circumstances.  If it's to defend my family and my friends I would, but if it's to serve the greed and gluttony of a conqueror I would refuse.

Quote
If push came to shove, and you were seemingly out of options, would you be able to kill someone?
No, I cannot kill anyone, no matter how much they've wronged me.  I believe that everyone has the right to live, and that no action can take that away ever.  I don't think we as humans have any right to terminate the existence of another sentient being, ever.  If they're savage murderers, then just lock them away, eye for an eye won't bring back their victims.  We can never be 100% sure of guilt so why take the chance and commit an act that cannot be undone?

I don't think you can ever justify the killing of another human being, but if in a life or death situation I would excuse someone who had to make that terrible choice.  I personally would not be ever to make that decision, but I wouldn't fault someone for doing it.  My morals and my objections go out the window though when it's someone else's life in peril.  I can set aside my disgust for killing if it means protecting the life of someone else.  While I wouldn't use deadly force to protect my own, I would to protect others.

Stargazing, or watching a thunderstorm roll in from the distance, or just staring at nature in general.  While I'm absolutely terrified of storms (I've got some really bad history with storms, including being caught in a tornado outside on my bike), watching them roll in is a beautiful sight.

So totally me. I don't really mind people doing stuff in their own home when I'm not around but doing it in public is just a big no. I'm terrible at expressing emotion of any sort, whether online or offline. This has given me so much trouble and whenever I try to fake nonexistent emotion it ends up being totally obvious. I think the people around me have pretty much accepted that I'll always give them a generic derpface by now.

I find that being overly sarcastic to the point where it's obvious sarcasm helps a bit, it makes people take random statements that might be a bit over the top less seriously. It does make me a weird person to talk to and doesn't translate well to the internet at all.

Probably the only stuff that didn't age well I used to like was Power Rangers :V
Yep, same stuff I watched. It's a shame we didn't really have Sailor Moon over here, ended up watching parts of it online anyway (oh 56k era RealPla

It's strange how some of the stuff I used to watch is totally unfindable now. I'd really love to see Animals of Farthing Wood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Animals_of_Farthing_Wood_%28TV_series%29) again, there's no commercial release to speak of despite having been released dubbed in most of Europe. It was completely unique in being a drama-based animation and pulled it off beyond well. On the other end of the scale is Samurai Pizza Cats, probably the show with the most fourth wall breaks in existence.

I do gardening and outdoor work all the time and I love it.  While I'm not too happy when I have to dig holes for trees or pull weeds out, the rest is relaxing and enjoyable.  I don't have much control over what goes into the garden right now (it's my mom's domain) but I plan on having lots of flowers in my own.

Ahh cripe. I even read that one, sorry about that. Well hopefully this next one here hasn't been asked already.

Much of an effect?  LOL.
It drives me nuts and I'm probably destroying my health (and definitely why I'm sick all the time).  It's to the point now where my weekend is essentially sleep, I don't do anything else.

That must have been terrifying...but I still must say...the irony... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhPu5AHDMHM#t=200s)
I've been through a ton of natural disasters.  Countless blizzards, 3 hurricanes (one in Hawaii of all places), 2 tornadoes (one on my bike), a flood, and an earthquake.  So I'm justifiably scared of thunderstorms.  Mother Nature has it out for me .________.;;

What do you think of Team 9 and my signature?
I'm not much of a Cirnotard, so I'm probably not the best person to ask =P

I must have this kawaii (cute) pinku (pink) bento (lunch) box.

I... tend to express too much emotion >>;;  My dad gives me crap all the time because I tend to cry or get visibly agitated when confronted.  I don't handle stressful situations very well and tend to break down easily.  Push comes to shove I don't shove back, I tend to cower in a corner and cry.

Animaniacs was perfect because it had all sorts of subtle injokes and adult humor I never got until I grew up.  And it made it all the better because I didn't exactly grow out the kiddie slapstick humor either :D

I never really got into Samurai Pizza Cats but then again it was on during the time I didn't really have TV or cable so I missed out on it.  I did get into SWAT Kats hardcore being my dad was an airhead in the Navy and they were flying the motherfucking F-14 Tomcat (sexiest fighter ever IMO).

Eh I don't think I'm that popular.  I know I command some recognition simply because of my title, but I don't like to think of that as "popularity" as much as the visibility of my position.  As far as my popularity goes socially, I'm not exactly sure.  I don't really concern myself with being "popular", just being friendly and sociable and approachable to everyone.  I don't want my butt kissed and people bowing to me like I'm royalty, I just want to be everyone's friend ;____;

After the AFDay incident, I gave up my admin tag and public responsibilities for the most part.  I used IP for the longest time.  Then someone decided to actually challenge me to a contest.  Winner got ID, and well, I won so I'm currently the only reigning ID.

Probably the walrus plushie.  I love that thing to death.

Quote
Do you have a good memory, or the memory of a goldfish?
:derp:.  It depends on what I'm trying to remember.  If it's an important number or date or meeting, forget it, it left my head before the words left the room.  If it's some stupid trivia junk or an arcane factoid from a show or video game it will never leave my mind.

What do you believe to be the most valuable thing in the world (tangible or intangible)?
Knowledge.  With knowledge comes the power to better yourself, and the power to dispel fear and irrationality.

Do you believe in magic?
Magic is just fancy talk for technology.  "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. " - Arthur C. Clark.

If any of us took just one piece of technology, even as mundane as something like a digital watch or glasses or even just a strip of velcro, back 200-300 years, people would be absolutely astonished by it.  That's why I wouldn't be surprised if we hit a technological plateau where real (as in fantasy-esque) magic would exist.

Quote
What's the funniest belief you held as a child? (Like monsters under the bed, or something)
When I was little I was a huuuuuuuge astronomy nut (was? still am).  One day I read up on the lifecycle of stars and learned the truth that eventually, 2-3 billion years from now, our Sun was going to puff up like a big marshmallow and Earth would be vaporized.  I was absolutely terrified of this.  I used to have a reoccurring nightmare where the Sun gobbled me up.  It never dawned on me that it was wayyyyyyyyyyy into the future and I would be long dead of other things well before then.

I never shook the fear until I went on a trip to a real observatory and got to look through a telescope at the Crab Nebula.  It was so beautiful, yet it was created by the violent death of a very large star.  Then I learned that these violent deaths created all of the elements that eventually precipitated to our planet, all of the carbon, the iron, the nitrogen, came from supernovae.  So in essence the death of a star lead directly to our existence.  And it dawned on me that seemingly destructive and violent things happen for a reason, and it doesn't always have a terrible outcome.

With regards to this, what sort of time would you have to read? I'm mainly asking this because there's no point linking some of the insanely long fics if you won't have the time/patience to go through them.

You know how to fix laggy connection?
Get a better ISP, or bitch at yours to make it better?  Barring that unhook everything and start reconnecting things one at a time to try isolate what's causing the disconnect issues.

I'll look, but I haven't really picked out an avatar for anyone in months, let alone for myself.

Is this awesome?

I think Parsees's quite underrated. She needs more love.

And I love how Chrome has this awesome zoom function. So nice to just sit back, not really sitting in my chair of non-lumbar support.

What's the one thing you want the most right now? (tangible or intangible)

If I were to say love is the most powerful magic, how would you respond?

Would you rather be poor, but have a loving family to be with, or be rich and alone?

How far back can you trace your lineage?

Do you think we'll live long enough to see a sentient android? (like Mr. Data)

Acceptance for who I am :(  I'm absolutely scared I'm going to end up persecuted, singled out and alone for my decisions.

I'd believe it because the biggest motivator in my life has been love, either from my family or from my peers and friends.

Poor but not alone, any day.  Money never buys happiness, you can't replace love with things.  I place little value in material possessions and would do anything for love and acceptance.

It's a bit fuzzy but I'm more or less sure I'm second or third generation German from both my mom and my dad's side.  There's a little bit of English from my dad's mom.

I don't think there ever will be unless there's some more important reason for sentience.  I think technologically we could do it but the ethical ramifications are too much and wouldn't sentience in a slave be undesirable?

If offered, would you become a dictator for a day?
If so, what country would you pick and what policies would you enforce?
(You cannot enforce any long-term policies, only those that would expire within the limits of your term.)

I wouldn't, it'd go against my beliefs in self-determination and the right to choose.  As much as people may have boneheaded opinions and stuff, it's not any more right to force what we think is the "right" thing onto others.  We can and should educate and reason and attempt to dispel bad beliefs, but never force anyone to abide by someone else's moral code.

Voltair said it best, I would never take away someone's right to self-determination.  I may not agree with all or even any you believe in, but as long as you're not actively restricting the rights of others you should have the freedom to believe whatever you want.

What was the most loneliest day in your life, a day you're glad you survived?

Moving day growing up.  Being in a military family we moved often, at most we stayed at a place for a few years.  You never feel quite alone as then, losing your entire social circle and being shoved into a strange new place with new people.  It's always right when you're finally getting comfortable too, about to call this place home.

Companies are amoral.  They can't really be corrupted as they don't have any morals at all, just the drive to survive and to expand.  That's why I find it funny when people are shocked when companies like Google exploit loopholes on taxes and stuff.  They're not being evil, they're just maximizing profit.  Hence why you can't trust companies to work in good faith because that goes against their entire purpose.  They're not here to be nice, they're here to wring out as much profit as possible.

Why isn't this locked yet?
Good question.
