Holy... Wow. I want that book.

Also, don't play the tragic heroine, you know. Anime art will never be as deep as REAL art, like Yves Klein and his Monochrome Blue.
Oh, don't worry about that!

I've made up my mind, though.
I never thought about being closed minded, and I'm not going to start now, but I was already thinking that I was going to have to abandon something I really like!

No problem -----> keep it a secret.
I will learn all that I can. Anime isn't my only interest, y'know  :P

I'm so excited for what my future will bring...

Um, sorry Suikamaand LS lol), but that's not modern art, it's contemporary art.
It's different :3

And modern modern art is actually pretty cool.

@Virus lol I don't think you have to stop doing anything, or keep it a secret for that matter. Just continue doing what you always did and add to that the new stuff you're learning.

Yes, but then people would find a reason to criticize me or find it easy to label or stereotype me.

It might be dangerous to my image later on if a company sees in my profile or hears from word-of-mouth that... y'know

A few hours looking, but I found it.

Not let that be burned deep into your mind.

On topic, I want to become this artist. :parsee:
Damn nice stuff, and without the use of excessive ammounts of PS effects and whatnot. I like that a lot.

*Disbelief / Doubt

The original artist's name is Hanaharu Naruko, and I covered him in a post about an erotic figma based on his original character design. (1 year ago.)

He's an excellent artist, with extreme attention to detail. I discovered him through an art book (Robot Series) that I bought two years ago.

I must be missing something because, apart from the fact that everyone's bottomless, and a somewhat similar style, I don't see how one's a copy of the other.

Well, who's that?

This guy's in my Touhou art book, and he also did some extra art for REDALiCE's Album titled "RED," which is a collection of three music disks. His work is included inside the album.

His website: http://blog.livedoor.jp/ayame_blog/
Pixiv: http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?id=81259

He in the circle "Ra Radish" : http://raradish.blog88.fc2.com/
Another site here: http://pixiv.cc/dain/

Also, here's a little something he did which took me by surprise, since this isn't his usual style.
Depending on your turn of mind, you might like this pairing a lot~
[nsfw]http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/799968/2girls-arm_around_waist-blue_eyes-blush-braid-brea[/nsfw]

Appearently, this is an illustration for an collaboration art book with other artists. It's about Touhou Couples~

A mouthful to pronounce, and his / her artwork isn't anything short of interesting. Try to look away!

Nothing appeals to me faster than a work that has crisp and solid line work. The shading also seems like a pleasant and cool style mixing gradients and cell-shading techniques

This artist is a close example to what I want my style to be like. Crisp, clean, clear. Detailed and interesting.

This artist reminds me a lot of Kabayaki Unagi (Lead artist for the Doujin circle "Cytokine") and a mix of Ideolo.

The colors come off to me as pretty intense, yet also containing a "cool" tone. It's pretty easy on the eyes despite the color choice.

(Safe, Danbooru)

Alice Margatroid: http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/709198
Notice the color tone. Masatoki seems to be doing a set of works that revolve around colors, using Touhou characters as subjects.

Saigyouji Yuyuko: http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/666040
It's so full of purple! Do you think Yukari might pick a fight?

Original Work: http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/653465
In Pixiv and in the Japanese art community in general, it seems like people only care about two things:

Vocaloid & Touhou
Touhou & Vocaloid

I think it's safe to say that we'll be seeing more of this kind of work from this artist. Though not a whole lot to talk about, people draw too much Touhou nowadays (Except for the top-tier artists, we can never have enough of that! This guy's both a good and bad example of this, but w/e ) and we need more original stuff. By original, I don't mean an unidentified schoolgirl with the "original" tag on Danbo.

Touhou Rainbow: http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/573149
I think I found another favorite artist. I can't get enough of this guy's works, but he/she needs more stuff, seriously. I wonder if Masatoki is going to release something this C79...

Have a Suwako with a wardrobe_malfunction~

In before switching my username to Sayorfag again,

This stuff's awesome:

2 http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/799138
3 http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/799767

I was already starting to think that there wasn't going to be anything for C79.
[Danbooru links, safe.]

I disagree.

There's still the slim chance that it was just a coincidence, but I'm pretty sure that Imo looked at the other image before drawing. Looking closely, it's not even remotely traced.

Maybe just used a light inspiration.

False alarm. Sorry guys, I used to do this to a bunch of posers on DeviantArt. Eventually I got fed up and left the site for a while.

EDIT: lol slanted text

I insist I'm pretty sure it's just a coincidence. It's far from the most original theme ever, a bunch of semi-naked girls.
But anyway

Asakura Masatoki
Goddamn this guy has mastered the art of using all the most eye-burning colors and combinations without burning eyes
It's awesome.
I've stumbled across his name before, but you know, sometimes when browsing danbooru you have 50 tabs open and end up not paying much attention to any of them :V
That Alice.

Also holy shiiiiiiiiiiit sayori new stuff :o [/jk]
Seconding hope for a good surprise at C79

Asakura Masatoki is amazing. I've seen his work in Alice, that yuyu, and the kogasa, but still... WOW.

That's not true at all. Using pixiv as an example, artworks featuring original characters or scenery outnumber touhou and vocaloid fanart.

Really?

I go to Pixiv and there's tons of pages of nothing but Touhou and Vocaloid. Sometimes some fanart of current Anime, but original original art isn't a lot...

I love Winter Scenery(see my ava). That is all.
His stories are pretty simple, but the drawings are awesome. Very stylish.

That reminds me, there's this really great artist who does weird, heavily stylized Touhou art. His proportions are sometimes off, but the scenarios he contrives are more than interesting enough to make up for that. A great honor to all of us in the WTC.
