Freeze - A two player versus game made in a game jam
« on: March 19, 2015, 08:01:11 AM »
Hey guys, this is my first post on these forums. So my university recently hosted a three day game jam. For those who don?t know, a game jam is basically a contest to make a game from scratch in a certain amount of time. I ended up stuck without an artist or musician to work with, but the rules during this jam allowed me to use assets from other works if I give proper credit, so I ended up creating a Touhou fangame.

Both players play as Cirno and dodge bullets from offscreen. You can?t attack, but you can freeze bullets that match your color by touching them. Then at any point you can launch all the frozen bullets to your opponent?s screen to try and hit them, but doing so changes your color. It?s not super in-depth since I had three days to make it and I only made 5 bullet patterns, but I think it?s pretty fun and simple. Unfortunately it?s two-player only, but if you have a chance to play it with a friend let me know what you think. I?ve never made a danmaku game before so I?d like to hear some feedback from some other Touhou players. Keyboard controls are enabled but kind of cramped by nature so controllers are recommended.

Hello Gman8r, welcome and good stuff you're showing.

I've edited out the png link from your post because they were tat too large (500kb/800kb) Please resize/recompress them or use thumbnails to display them.

You can resize imgur links by adding [l/m/s] at the end of file name pre-extension for use as thumbnails.

Perhaps you already knew this, but maybe someone will come into this thread at random and learn something.

Regarding the game, it has a nice mechanic, but I have no friends to play it with (unless you somehow managed to get netcode in).
