No fullscreen for Touhou 1-5?
« on: August 26, 2011, 11:19:38 PM »
Is there a fullscreen for Touhou 1-5 without having to mess with the Emulator of the game?
I can make the window the game is in bigger, but the game just runs slower, whenever i do Alt+Enter to make it fullscreen, you can hear the game playing, but you can see the game, it looks like the screen when you pressed Alt+Enter, Help me? D:

The emulators are what is running the games, and thus they control the screen sizes. The PC98 games do not have a built-in fullscreen option like the Windows ones. If you use Anex86, Alt-enter is used to fullscreen. In T98-Next, you press F12, then F10. (same to go back to windowed)

If lag is causing an issue, did you try looking at this topic to configure the PC98 emulators correctly?
I figured out how to play midi in games with a different device on Win7 ^^

First off, you should try using T98-Next instead of Anex86.  Second, you should at least be functional for running the PC98 emulator, but knowing your hardware specs it'll be very slow, so I can't guarantee that you won't have problems.  You may want to check for updated videochip drivers (or just wait for your new computer).

Ok, i've had Anex86 for awhile since it hasn't given me any trouble, is this where you can find T98-Next?  http://www.zophar.net/pc98/t98-next.html

And does this me the files the Anex86 came with wont work for the T98-Next?

The English version is here.  It'll still load the disk images you have.

T98-Next is a more complete emulator than Anex86.  And yes, your HDI files work.

You can't upgrade the videochip on your motherboard.  You seemed to have an AGP slot but trying to find a videocard for that wouldn't be worthwhile since the rest of your system is limited too.

If you're handy you could try upgrading your CPU and memory, and trying to find a used AGP card that give some life to your machine, but I can't guarantee your system will take the upgrades without problems (case configuration, power supply, etc.).

Yes, that would probably be the best thing. When around are you expecting it?

Buying a new graphics card wouldn't necessarily make the emulator faster; both your main processor and your RAM are quite old. Graphics cards can range to cheap to fairly expensive, but if you buy a cheap one you're really just going to get what you pay for.

There's also the problem of compatibility. Your motherboard is, again, very old and you'd have to find an AGP or PCI graphics card, which are both outdated. Pretty much anything you're going to find at traditional hardware stores are not going to work with your computer.

As Momi said, it'd be better to upgrade your processor and RAM, but you'd have to find ones that would actually work on your motherboard.

I should be getting the new computer around, this motnh or next month.

Ai, that makes the most sense, my computer can't run 3D, very old computer, but atleast its better then the one i had a few years ago >.<

How come when i make the window bigger (not fullscreen) it gets all laggy like?

I should point out that Next is a huge drain on resources for the computer, and even a decent computer may lag from it. Mine sure does, and if it does you should stick with Anex86. All that it is really missing is one percussion sound channel.

I do know that for some computers full-screen may not work with Anex86 and display a blank screen, but I'm not sure how to fix that if that's the case. :\

I proably shouldn't use it, i like to have other things open when i play Touhou 1-5, and my computer is quite old =_=

For me, my computer doesn't display a black screen it goes you the screen of the game right when you press the Alt+Enter.

One, you mean six.  It doesn't work right because it's widely incomplete, in more ways than just the sound.

(Oh dear the OP was banned, I hope he got the help he needed)

You can say that, but really I only hear minor differences in music between the two. I actually think the songs sound better in Anex86. If the emulator is incomplete as you say, it still does everything needed to run the Touhou games flawlessly. Out of curiosity, what's incomplete about it? ???

Not really, you just need to use FM86 in the game config.

Also, T98-NEXT runs way better than Anex on my Phenom II x6... (Not just that, but sounds and plays way better, framerate aside.)

I'd recommend using the latest version too, even if its in Japanese:
http://akiyuki.boy.jp/t98next/

Its the one that says 20100611 (2010/06/11)

Depending on your computer specs, you may need to change the amount of mhz though.
