Despite the rules saying on specific topics for each anime, not every anime gets discussed to death over here and certainly a few favorites like Ruroni Kenshin might always pop up next to Sailor Moon with tens of posts in a row about them and how awesome they are... those deserve their own thread.
This thread is for your passing thoughts and a general bit of discussion maybe about a particular episode that really caught your fancy or something of the sort.

Well, with a line up of many anime to beat down the bracket this year...
1. I started watching Seikon no Qwaser because of genderbending episode 1, I like it but there was too much breastsucking involve though it was the main theme, it is a bit too much and it spoils the original mood of this chapter from the manga (which surprisingly talks about a Da-Vinci-esque search for an elusive circuit which makes alternate dimensions! and NO BREAST SUCKING for well over 10 chapters!)
2. Hidan no Aria, what can I say... I am welcoming all intentions to hear Rie Kugimiya again and I am not disappointed in the VA department, but truth to be said the show just downright sucks. There is hardly any plot judging from this one episode, but I am willing to say even something highschoolers thrown together deserves some kind of respect if only because it somehow reached the shelves... or is that an insult to how companies now print whatever that has titties and ass in it?
3. Dog Days: high res not withstanding, this show yells Utawarerumono with a dog girl tag to it. I am more inclined to watch it because of animal ears fetish of mine, but I am convinced this may be just a passing fancy, by episode 3 I think I might drop it if it were no... I dunno, some kinda resemblance of a plot....
4. Steins; Gate, the promising contender of contenders, nuff said. If only Huke was really drawing every frame for this show, I would jizz quite a bit for every 5 minutes.
5. Hoshizora Kakaru, THIS IS WHY HAREM IS GOOD?! No, actually, with all stereotypical girls in it, (though with two very Touhou girls) it stinks of mundane and suck. But, this show has the best background art ever, stuff I had not seen since Clannad, Air, and the such, and coming from studio FENG it is expected to have an imouto end. (from the same people who brought you Akaneiro Somarusaka) and despite the array of beauties in a random forgotten village in the fuck middle of nowhere... the most attractive of them all is... a boy. Ayumu, the protag's little brother is made of cute and fluffy... and I can't help but reminded me of what Lloyd is on this forum. :blush:

There really isn't. That and Kaiji I locked into watching for the entire season last week. Also, Deadman Wonderland just popped up. Episode 1 suggested I watch all the episodes to follow, and I'll probably do so.

This season is not so bad so far! I'm watching Stein's;Gate, DeadmanWonderland, 30-san, and the demon summoning one for now.

I've been keeping up with fairy tail for a while now. I like that its well-written, exciting, and fits my comedic taste. It has a nice reveal of what mystogan is, interesting characters too. What bothers me about it (although its a rather small thing) is that the personifications of the zodiac are rather mis-represented. Except for Virgo, which fits the traits, besides the played-for-comedy bdsm implication. Also, Happy sounds annoyingly like a little kid, there is a bit too much overreacting for my tastes.
Though it might put some off, I liked the scene versus Cobra when the mood totally changed to a funny one. Though thinking back on it, the semi-mutilation afterwards made it less funny :ohdear:
I've also been watching Madoka. I like the twist on it being a magical-girl series, being much more realistic and not-shoving-stupid-morals-down-our-throats-ocity. (though i dont know any shows like that, but i heard that there were) Though I think I would've like it if it were more lighthearted instead of what it is now, too.

Astarotte Ep1 wasn't all that interesting, apart from the loli service.
Denpa is off to a nice start, though I'd really like to see a show of this kind where the male is a little more out there himself, for once. Well, guess it's going to move in that direction, at least.

1. Katanagatari (finished): Feels like a mixture of Bakemonogatari and, uh, Okami. It was more enjoyable than I thought. Story aside, I thought the show's characters and concepts were pretty creative and well done. Some of the EDs are also (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLX4VOWjCvg) good (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7kNz1anY-8) (one for every episode, seriously ?). And there's this. 2. Madoka (finished): The ending was not that satisfying, but overall still God-tier.
3. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (1): SHAFT. The style is similar to Bakemonogatari, but the dialogue is kind of weak in comparison.
4. Denpa Onna (2): Um ... strange and cute. Very. But that's about it >_>. I ... don't see any hint of a story yet.
5. Hanasaku Iroha (2): Gotta admire the seiyuu for doing all those embarrasing lines. Pretty enjoyable so far, though. Art quality is top-notch.
6. Nichijou (0, as in Ep.0): I liked Lucky Star, but somehow this is just bad. Incoherent conversations, incoherent events and overall boring (now you might say I did it wrong and this is supposed to be just moe, but even then I'm having a hard time keeping myself awake with those flaws in the way). If this doesn't improve by Ep.3, it counts as my first drop, ever.

I actually just started downloading the first few episodes of this. I never really paid any attention to it while it was airing. I figured it was just some generic pedo magical girl thing like Nanoha, but one of my friends was like "NO SERIOUSLY BRO DUDE IT'S COOL WATCH IT SERIOUSLY BRO IT'S GOOD" and now I've finally caved. So... I guess we'll see what happens.

Nichijou is probably the best series this season, with Season 2 of Kaiji following close behind.
If you liked Season 2 of Arakawa (and I know you did), you would probably like Denpa Onna. On the more dramatic side, there's Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai and Hanasaku Iroha.
For action, C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control isn't that bad, either.
I'm also following Moshidora just because the concept is so out there that I have to follow it. Plus, they're releasing a new episode every weekday, which makes it a fast series to follow.
That's about it, in my amateur opinion.

In lieu of actually doing something constructive last night, I instead decided to finally crack open that Slayers boxset I've had for a while, and soon began wondering why I'd never got around to doing so before (yeah, Moerin is late to every party, go figure). And soon after that, I began wondering why Prince Phil was shafted from the opening credits, as he and Amelia are easily the best characters. >.>

I could tolerate the mad scientist because that's his role, but every other character exept the fat guy are just as bad ._.

In a surprising Twist of Events
Hidan no Aria is now top tier on my watching list with a plot that can surely be considered top class. If that is not enough, expect Equilibrium style gun fights in gunkata excellence, bullet punching madness, 8mm Nicholas speech patterns and oh yeah, this show is awesome from episode 4 onwards. Also, I am in love... Riko is my favorite waifu this season~
the only thing still missing now is Russian Gun-Loli that curses everytime she speaks.

3. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (2): wut. Doesn't look very good, tbh, at least Himeji is cute.
4. Hidamari Sketch (4): Awesome. Ep.4 is weak compared to the previous 3. I like the ( X ' ‿ ') style :V, and Mebae Drive.
5. Kara no Kyoukai (1): Just started on this. Looks excellent so far.
6. Shiki (10): I think this is pretty cool. The first 8 episodes are a bit slow.
7. Spice and Wolf (2): ....... oooookay, nothing happened, yet.

seeing that Ammy said something about [C] Money and Soul I had to watch it.
I was amazed, this may just become my Star Driver this season, and it is wonderfully animated, weirdly appealing and most of all, the Seiyuu line up for the Assets are quite adorable and nicely done. The first episode already represented something that has been largely missing from what I think is the latest selection of anime: that is DESIRE.
Yes, the story on the desire to acquire money, and the sacrifices and challenges one must face in order to attain such an otherworldy or exquisite goal. It is fantastic.
Mashyu (sounds jewish) reminds me of Shana, her strong demeanor makes me like her from the first episode. the other thing is, knowing full well red means fire, I inherently connected her to one with similiar fashion horns = OYAKATA SAMA.
and now, my head cannot help but picture a burly ultra manly axe-riding double horse standing wall climbing gravity defeating middle aged man who spews fiery tornadoes....

Stick with Baka Test. I adored the show, and I normally hate those kind of shows. It's greater than the sum of its parts. Try and stick with it.
Hidamari gets better and better as it goes on, Hoshimittsu is the best of the three season.
KnK is pretty top tier, good choice.
Spice and Wolf is really slow. Not Shigurui slow, but there isn't going to be any out and out action ever.

Well, my Slayers Next boxset arrived today, so I decided to take a break from all the work I've been doing recently and watch through the first DVD. If anything it looks to be even better than the first season, and Amelia may finally have some competition in the favourite character department due to Xellos. Why? That... Is a secret~

If you guys aren't following Kaiji, you really should be. I have never cheered as hard for a protagonist as I did during episodes 7 and 8. Sweet, sweet justice. Just hope he doesn't screw it up with his own weakness to take insane chances.

Gunbuster and Diebuster.
Good stuff. I thought I'd find the vintage style of Gunbuster offputting (my experience with older anime is... limited, to say the least), but it didn't really make a difference. Still preferred Diebuster mind, not least because it invoked fond memories of watching FLCL for the first time. Also dat ending.
Quite possibly I'm being thick due to tiredness, but I'm not entirely clear on why Nono retreated in Ep 5. Presumably it was because she didn't want Lal'C joining her on the kamikaze mission, but in that case couldn't she just have blocked her from following with artificial busters (as she did anyway)? The only other plausible explanations that come to mind is that either she thought the plan wasn't going to work, or alternatively she knew there was going to be some major cleanup required after destroying the final boss and she wasn't then in a position to do it. Eh.

Finished my Kitoh manga binge. I'm surprised that Wings of Vendemiaire was his debut, since it's his second best behind Bokurano. Hallucination from the Womb was great. Zansho wasn't bad. Sinna 1905 was bad.
Love the way this guy draws people. They all seem so fragile, which I guess is appropriate given the average death count in his works.

Ika Musume was so god damned amazing. At first the series was somewhat bland, Then Sanae jumps in and then it just got a whole crap-ton of awesomeness added to it. The endings also change a tiny bit each episode, which is really cool. Along with the final episode, Which was quite possibly the best one I've seen yet.
This (http://www.squidgirlwiki.com/wiki/Kozue_Tanabe) character confused me a bit though. If there was another season, I'm going to assume she'll be a main character and god would that be awesome.

It's good if you like watching angsty teens being overly-dramatic about little things. If you don't like it by episode 3, then you probably won't like the rest.

Just finished Evangelion after too many years of putting it off. The ending's not nearly as bad as I'd been lead to think; a bit of a departure from the rest of the show, of course, but still fairly understandable if you're approaching it with the right mindset.
Now to get around to seeing Death/Rebirth and EoE.

The manga is definitely more enjoyable IMO, not least because it's bleaker. The anime also tries to shoehorn in some elements that just flat out aren't needed, though there are one or two things it actually does better.

If you're watching solely to watch Zearth kill stuff then you're doing it wrong. Plus, the director of the anime essentially took hold of the series because he wanted to change things he didn't like about the manga. In other words yes the manga is better and the director was a douchewad.

SOMEbody recommended me Legend of the Galactic Heroes and SOMEbody hit the nail right on the head. This coming after I've had a couple popular but more more general things recommended to me or even dropped right on me and those haven't been anywhere NEAR this impressive. After the first 8 episodes or so, Yang Wenli is already one of my favorite characters in anime and I can't say that about any other anime/manga/LN character since Haruhi first aired. Still, based on the main characters on BOTH sides of the war, it's really hard to root for the survival of the Empire.

I already see several hopefuls this season:
1. Dantalian no Shoka - by Gainax, from the guys who gave us Asura Cryin'
2. No.6 - This sounds like Index, but is somewhat better from what I can see
3. Nyanpire - The Animation - Cat vampires need I say more?
4. Nekogami Yaorozu - Gensokyo, the anime.
5. Appleseed XIII - the return of the epic classic of Shirow-inspired worlds of future robots and a hark to the original days of great GITS style story telling.
6. Blood C - Clamp does Diva? Saya? OH YES. Thinking of long haired twin tail Saya with glasses makes me wet, Clamp knows exactly what I been dying for.

cutest show I know of is Chi's Sweet Home. if you're unfamiliar, it's about a kitten who gets lost from her litter and is adopted by a family. episodes are only 3 minutes long too so it won't take long to decide if you like it or not.

The ending of the Narutaru manga has to be seen to be believed. And even then you won't believe it.
If you're looking to get rid of that horrible feeling, I suggest Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien.

I watched Kamisama-Dolls first episode, it already seems promising, it has a very Gantz feel to it, though nothing as dark, for what I can see, this can be a mature and thought-out anime with mixed action.
Kamisama Memo-Chu is quite interesting, I recall a certain gothic loli inspiration of a Holmes-style detective story called Gosick (which I dropped because lol too many things to watch). so erm, I guess picking up this was a half-half thing, I fancy the moe of Alice-chan, but it seems to be partial to further episodes for me to really expose what there is to like about it.

Just finished watching the first episode of Usagi Drop. The animation is excellent, and so far it seems to be holding to the manga's story-- though of course, it is just the first episode, so.
...I think this'll be the first time in over a year that I actually follow a series as it airs.
EDIT: Oh my god. I just watched the first episode of Mawaru Penguindrum as well. I haven't been this intrigued by an anime series in such a long time. It's directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara, who has yet to disappoint me, as well (that is to say, he directed Utena and Nodame Cantabile, two of my very favorites-- as well as some parts of Sailor Moon too, which I've yet to watch, but will eventually). I wish I could describe what I just watched, but... ah, I look forward to the next episode :*

And Gosick finally comes to a close.
Man, I know everyone watched the first three episodes (and probably a bit further), just went "man this is dumb" and dropped it, but I have to say the storytelling quality, the mystery quality, overall character and interaction quality; everything took a turn for the magnificent at some point and just kept getting better. If anyone paid any attention in IRC channels where I may have made notes about an episode arc or something, you can really notice how slow and groan-worthy the series starts out, and then it suddenly just gets awesome when the true story whips up. Somewhere between the Blue Rose and Leviathan arcs, it just popped. It was definitely less of a hardcore detective story as most people made it out to be when it started, but whatever it did, it did quite well.
This was, without a doubt, a very good series, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

Penguin Drum is off to an iffy start. The art is great, as is the music. Plotwise, even if "sick girl brought back from the brink of death due to MAGIC' is kinda overdone, the transformation sequence was fantastic, and the writing is competent enough where this could go anywhere.
Basically, I don't want to make the same mistake I did with Madoka, where I dropped it after a passable but lackluster first episode. I'll be sticking through with this one, unless and until it starts to get terrible.

Rou Kyu Bu is bad, but I'm following it simply so I can get more subs along the lines of 'I WILL PROTECT YOUR BASKETBALL'.
Kaiji is so Kaiji I can't even Kaiji. I don't know how I can watch a man play pachinko for an hour and enjoy it so much.

Ok, just watched first episode of No.6, NoitaminA and BONES notwithstanding, this is a great start. I can tell I love this show already, it has both DEEP and some degree of plot. Which is amazing, coming from one of my favorite studios. The art is pretty cool as well.

Yeah I've heard some pretty bad things about the guy (plus I tried to read Freezing recently and it was terrible), but I'm enjoying this one so I'll stick with it until its premature demise regardless.

Okay, this Summer Season is godly! I can't believe it, it's like, the few years of the past, I was almost given up on anime, because it was so bad and uninteresting. Last season I haven't watch anything, but this one! This is Godly.
I'm watching like 5-6 animes at once, I never done this since I was in secondary school. A few of them are average, but interesting, and there wasn't many interesting series nowadays. The last two one is the ones that makes this season godly.
So for the animes:
BLADE - Obviously the weakest link of the bunch. I only watched Iron Man from the Marvel tryings, and that was mediocre and forgettable. This one is kind of the same, but I think it's at least a little better than that, I actually kinda like this. Kinda. Sorta. It's almost like a guilty pleasure.
BLOOD-C - The better one of the vampire killer animes, it is an interesting one. It starts slow, like Blood+, and the reimagination is also interesting, I'm interested how everything will turn to the worst, like in the previous series.
Kamisama Dolls - Not that much, but still, it's an interesting start.
Kamisama no memochou - This one I really liked, and I found it to be very interesting. Very. And can be cute too, just as it can be quite sad and negative.
There's two more series what haven't aired yet, I think, but I'll try them. And the two godly series are:
"Ikoku Meiro no Crois?e" and "Usagi Drop".
My Goddess! Never ever imagined in my whole life that there'll be another series re-calling the same atmosphere as ARIA and the manga Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (even if neither has the post-apocalyptic setting and "the time have passed" feeling of the latter). Obviously, Crois?e is the one what has more of the ARIA feeling, while Usagi Drop has something more unique, yet just as beautiful.
Both are "boring" animes, where "nothing" happens, and it's about basically "nothing". Just life. And that is awesome! And beautiful. And I can't even say anything else. Finally a series of the genre I love most. Not to mention, two of them!
However, I was really really disappointed by Penguindrum. Everyone seems to love that series. In my honest Opinion... I really don't like it. At all.

The first episode of Baka Test really surprised me with its terribleness. I mean, I'm used to a degree of sarcastic fanservice in this series, but the entire episode was nothing but "haha look we're making fun of fanservice". It's like being told the punchline to a joke over and over again.
I'll be forcing my way to at least episode 4 of Penguin Drum, but there's really nothing else interesting me this summer. So glad that Nichijou and Kaiji are going to be 20+ episodes each, otherwise I'd likely not be watching any series at all this summer.

Gosick is nothing like Memochou, really. Gosick only uses mysteries and the like as a literary tool for the plot, which is essentially a dramatic love story.

What I have in mind for Kamisamamemo is that it feels mysterious, engaging, not in the mystery as killing or so on, but more like solving background issues of the common social ills, stigmatized behaviors and so on, it is like... a story of this one girl who helps you, in her own way, with her own methods. If I must comment the last time something like this turned up for me, it was GTO, who in one chapter went and knocked down the walls of one of his student's walls just to tell dad that he can go fuck himself because his student wanted to do something that wasn't the father's liking. In terms of mystery, I would say it is more like the mysteries of the modern heart and mind, in the alleys of Tokyo.

Kami-sama no Memo-chou is surprisingly good. There's jokes like this, but also their first mystery was well put together. The male protagonist is indeed a hapless fool who gets unwillingly brought into this rag-tag band of misfits, but the writing is sharp, the pacing is near perfect, and even the brief moments of fan service didn't seem forced. The animation and the pacing both make use of wordless moments to establish a mood, too. So far, pretty enjoyable.
Glad for that, because Kaiji and Nichijou have been pretty much the only shows to watch this summer.

Since I'm currently on leave I figured it should sit down and finally watch Kanon, Air and Clannad during my bi-annual injection of spare time. Those series seem to have heavily influenced otaku culture and I love moe series so much, so I owe it to myself to get through them all.
Just finished Kanon today; now since I'm emotionally dead inside, it's a weird feeling to have all these emotions I'm not supposed to have being in a complete jumble and trying to pretend I'm not shedding manly tears here. It was a bit overly dramatic at times (expected, no issues there), but I liked the main character's quirky attitude (mainly no foot-in-mouth disease, or someone else doing it for him) and the ongoing mystery of his forgotten memories was handled quite well. I do appreciate it when anime series leave an entire episode for wrap up and then BAM, a great turnabout ending for the whole series comes out of nowhere.
Guess I'll watch Air next, anyone who's seen it know what I'm in for?

It would've been good without the unnecessary fanservice at the end of the episode. I haven't seen the second episode yet so I don't know if the amount of fanservice increases or not. Also, none of them are NEETs. It's stupid.

I have a hugely low tolerance for fanservice and found nothing off-putting about what little there was in the first two episodes. And how do you know they're not NEETs? They could be taking on these cases pro bono, just for something to do.

Hmmm. The ending was... Actually pretty awesome, far more so than I would've thought from what I initially heard of the series. The final battle was really frigging weird, and easily played to my love of insane, over-the-topness. All I can really say to it is...

As for the stinger... It was surprising, but I've learned to be overanalytical when it comes to Gainax, and... I can't say it wasn't foreshadowed at least somewhat. So I'm not really mad at the sudden revelation that Stocking was actually a demon,
unlike what looks like a sizable chunk of the fanbase. Of course, seeing how it's a cliffhanger/sequel hook, season 2 might end up explaining/undoing this... Hmmm. Guess when it comes around, I'll be viewing it as it airs.

anyway, strong contenders this season in a surprising twist:
Sacred Seven - this hit me in the gut I never expected this to be so awesome. It is reminiscent of 90s anime, and has big monsters and shit like that and henshin sequences etc. It is kinda bland with some of the characters (ie, the MC who is like OMG I HATE MY POWER) but would have to do. I am raring to see this hit the box of chocolates I am expecting mid-season through.
Surprising contender: Mayo Chiki - reverse trapping. I am loving it. Cold and sadistic ojousama notwitstanding this is probably one of the shows to look out for this season if you aren't already watching it. Let me see... in compare wity Bakatest season 2 which is basically the first two episodes ALL ABOUT CROSSDRESSING. I'd say this is more satisfying though Bakatest has more fun going on because of the lovely use of colors, pop-art and fantastic Hideyoshi.
Really loud contender Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagib- LOLI YELLING SCREAMING SQUEALING SCREECHING surprising satisfying because of zombies and shit like that, it seems like another copy of Zombie Deska, but with magic, more magic.
Dantalian no Shoka - DO YOU LIKE DEMONBANE? DO YOU LIKE LOLIS WHO ARE BOOKS? This is for you. This entire first chapter fascinated me, the background explainations of the Pop-Up book culture, the story behind it tragedy and demise, the people who use them, the gothic lolitaness only found in Gosick last season, is all found here. Lolis and Books. The Show.
Manyuu Hikenchou - Not surprisingly it by the guys who gave us Qwaser. Don't ignore this because it is the season's best brain aids and no-brainer. Don't expect anything other than straight out porno. But then again, I must say... this is quite the ecchi fan's dessert.

Alrighty, almost all the shows have passed the 3 episode mark now.
Still watching the following, from favorite to least favorite:
- Steins;Gate - Every episode leaves me wanting more. The intensity, the suspense, the confusion, the characters, the seiyuu casting, so good. Was my favorite back in Spring, and it's still my favorite of all the currently airing shows.
- Yuru Yuri - I fucking love this show so much. The best cute-girls-doing-cute-things show airing currently. I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff, and this show is just unbelievably cute. And this show actually succeeds at being funny too. Oh man, I'll say it again, I fucking love this show.
- Nichijou - Self-explanatory.
- Dantalian no Shoka - Only 2 episodes so far, but goddamn it's fantastic. The visuals are absolutely stunning, and the background music is perfectly fitting. The voice casting is good too: Daisuke Ono as Lord Hugh Anthony Diswald (damn, that's such a badass name), and Miyuki Sawashiro (my favorite seiyuu of all time so maybe there's a strong bias here) as Dalian. Pacing is a little quick for the beginning, but it's fine for me.
- Mayo Chiki - Satoshi Hino as an MC that I don't hate?! 'Tis sorcery! Eri Kitamura as an ojousama and Kana Hanazawa as the imouto? Yesssss please. And then whenever Subaru blushes there's so much HNNNNNNNGGGG I don't know if I can handle it. Also, the OP and ED are pretty catchy.
- Idolmaster - Enjoyable and exactly what I expected. Also, new ED every episode fuckyea.
- Usagi Drop - Very good. It's hard for me to find words to describe this, but it's enjoyable.
- BakaTest 2 - The usual fun and crazyness of the first season, still good. What I like about BakaTest is its amount of likable characters.
- KamiMemo - Doing fine so far. The MC and Alice are okay characters, but it's the other characters that really stand out to me, especially the Major. We'll see how this show turns out. Not too bad so far.
- Penguindrum - Eh, it's okay so far. Blue gets on my nerves sometimes, but Red is fine how he is. If it goes downhill from here, I'll probably drop this. God-tier OP and ED, though. Oh god, especially the ED.
On hold for now, will decide to continue/drop later:
- No. 6 - Goddamn it I hate the MC so much. Kinda needs more things happening, pacing's a bit slow. I'll see how this turns out later.

- None - Nothing has turned out to be outright bad so far. I was surprised, Summer's usually my least favorite season for anime, but this Summer's not doing too bad. However it can't compare with Fall. This Fall looks AMAZING already, and the Summer shows are barely just starting.

Started reading Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. The first few chapters had me falling off my chair, though it's trailed off a bit since then largely due to some of the supporting characters being crappy. Still a good read nonetheless. Looking forward to the anime.
Also picked up Accel World. Off the top of my head I can't remember reading another shounen series with an MC who's purposefully designed to be utterly unattractive. Enjoying it so far, not least because the cyber-battling setting is relevant to my interests.
Ah~ I loved that series! I'm still waiting to see if an anime will eventually be created as well.
It seems like such a good premise for an anime, so I live in hope.

Seems like fun so far, and keeps to the same tone that made the original so enjoyable whilst bringing its own cards to the pile. The only real problem I had with it was that Mojo was the only villain for the first five episodes, but thankfully episode six remedied this with the introduction of Fuzzy Lumpkins (who... Was pretty much exactly the same as his western counterpart, but that's fine as he always worked pretty well) and... Japanese Princess Morbucks~~~ My favourite villain from the original series~~~ I wonder if they're going to make any changes to h-

I just finished watching Alien Nine. it was weird. it's pretty short at 4 episodes long, but stuff was cut so if you want the full story you'd have to read the manga too. the manga continues on but they ended the anime at a good place imo.
plot is 3 children are chosen by their school to become alien hunters. things start off looking pretty normal - there's even scenes at the beach and a summer festival. it ends up getting pretty disturbing towards the end though aaahhhh.

First two episodes of Kodomo no Jikan have been filled with so much loli and fanservice...jeez. At least it's been cute so far!

I love Tomo-nai (as I call it, friend-less) and Yozora is just one epic troll. Sena is great too, but Yozora takes the cake and eat it, truly a case star of the Zan-nen bishoujo type. All that cute face, but with such a heart... of blackness. The part of them trying to play a dating sim is just fucking amazing a chapter... just pure lol.

At the moment, the only things I'm watching are Usagi Drop and The Idolmaster. Usagi Drop I had read the manga of a while back, so I'm actually excited about that one. Idomaster is, uh... there. It's cutesy. The husband likes the Sea of Blobs.

I would imagine if you wanted to have NON fanservice-infested harem shit, you wouldn't be watching this...
but then again, Shuffle! as a whole is rather interesting, if only because of considerable originality back in the days.
I seriously recommend Akane iro somaru saka, something similiar, but with lots more flavor.

So yeah, still watching Powerpuff Girls Z, and I figured out one of the main reasons why I'm loving it: Attention to detail. The big Cartoon Network logo in the opening was a tip off, but it's amazing how many references to the original they put in.

But what really made me sit up and notice it was when it changed to the second OP. Which pretty much triggered a massive nostalgiagasm when I saw Liberty Belle, (http://i56.tinypic.com/10ncjt1.jpg) Harmony Bunny, (http://i54.tinypic.com/24xzxx3.jpg) Maaaaaange (http://i53.tinypic.com/azdjzs.jpg) (also, Buttercup showing off her unique ability), the freaking Powerpuff Dynamo (http://i51.tinypic.com/1gnind.jpg) and POWERPROF. (http://i55.tinypic.com/11hway1.jpg)
Added to this the fact that I really like the interpretations of all the old characters. Most notable is the fact that I actually like Z's version of Sedusa, my least favourite PPG villain, but everyone seems to come out of this pretty well. Mojo is somewhat less cultured than the original and lacks the elaborate vocal stylings, but he's still a really fun character. Fuzzy is, as I noted earlier, pretty much exactly the same, so no complaints there. Princess is an even bigger attention whore than she was before, but they manage to give her a pretty good reason why she's one. The Gangreen Gang are pretty much the same too, although they all have unique powers (although with the exception of Lil' Arturo, none of them have the same powers as that one episode of the original where they gained powers). Also Ace looks like Kamina, which is awesome in itself. The Rowdyruffs are... Somewhat different, but when it comes down to it they're still pretty much just the same bunch of superpowered jerks they always were, which is why we loved them anyways. And Him (what little we've seen of Him anyways) is no longer a freaky transvestite Satan. No, now He is a freaky transvestite Satan clown, although he lacks that cool vocal effect the original had. Oh well.
As for the girls themselves... Blossom is kinda ditzier, obsessed with cakes and superheroes, but still the commander and the leader. Bubbles is somewhat less ditzy tham the original but still brings the joy and the laughter. And Buttercup is more tomboyish, but still the best out of three (and the toughest fighter, of course. Seriously. (http://i52.tinypic.com/mk7yc9.jpg)) Also, I just have to say that I love the costumes. Something about the jackets, I guess.
So... Yeah. After reaching the halfway point, I've enjoyed this far more than I thought I would. If you're not going to look at it too seriously and not expecting it to be exactly like the original, I'd recommend checking it out. Um... And hey, this turned into a ramble. Sorry about that, ahah~ >.>

MJP has started me on Steins;Gate because I like sci-fi but don't like moeblobbery. Now I had started playing Chaos;Head a while ago but stopped because the MC is just so goddamn unlikeable so I hope the same fate does not befall this series.

In internet speak: I would say Stein;s Gate as DEEP and Pretentious, there is a lot to like about it, but even more to dislike it...
I dropped it after episode 9 or so as my head can't quite get it. Nonetheless, considering its mileage, I will get the DVD and watch it maybe on one of those lousy days.
on a good note: I am surprised, this season is a double load of good animes coming in August.

(the story is about this guy who has a lack of friends who met up with this girls who has an 'air-friend' which she says is like air-guitar, except you can talk to him/her whenever you like; and they start a club to find friends and along the way a bunch of weirdos joined the club)

despite being a trashy type of moe-loaded beach episode, Mayo Chiki still spawns something fun out of it, maybe because it is the first beach episode with a cliffhanger ending to the next episode which is sure to be drama loaded. (also, screenshot paradise this episode is)

What I'm watching currently changed slightly to include Penguindrum along with Nichijou and Dantalian. I'm also watching SKET Dance occasionally, one every couple weeks or so, and I plan to watch Crois?e and Memochou eventually.
Slightly off-topic:
Would a show be considered dropped if you watched only one episode and decided you'd rather count the tiles in your kitchen, or if you thought you were going to watch it and got a few episodes in (say more than 4 for example) and decided to stop?

Currently watching: Dantalian no Shoka, Nichijou, No. 6, Steins; Gate, Tiger and Bunny, Usagi Drop, Kamisama Dolls, and Manyuu Hikenchou.
Honestly not so sure why I'm even watching the last two series. Kamisama Dolls is missing....something. I find the main character hard to like and it also reminds me uncomfortably of Zoids for some reason. As for Manyuu Hikenchou well.....that anime is what it is. Nonsensical and purely fanservice, I still watch it once in a while when I have nothing else to do.
In my opinion the best anime I'm watching right now are probably Nichijou, Steins; Gate, and Usagi Drop. Nichijou is just hilarious and shrine episode made me laugh the hardest I've laughed in quite a long time.
Steins; Gate is giving me my healthy dose of headbreak and also carries some really emotional segments. I also like Usagi Drop since I really enjoy the pastel colors and the rather calm flow of the episodes. The music for all of these anime is also pretty amazing.
I also just finish the second season of Honey and Clover a few hours ago. That anime was really good. It's been a while since I've been made to care about the characters of an anime so much. The sense of time passing and things changing between the characters was really amazing.
Ahhh summer vacation is magical. Too bad it's ending soon... :(

I'm adoring the hell out of Penguindrum, as much as I had thought I would -- and Tiger & Bunny has been incredible, as well. I was pleasantly surprised by how excellent some of the characters are.

Episode 14 is just finishing up the first story arc IIRC , the second.... ohhhhh it gets really good now!
As for me, I am anxiously awaiting Steins;Gate - fortunately it didn't get more confusing it got more AWESOME.
Also Carnival Phantasm is the most ridiculous amazing thing I have ever watched, though I can't imagine it's much fun if you haven't played/seen Tskukihime and F/SN (though they do seem to make a point to not spoil some plot twists from Fate which is nice of them)

Was bored and I had heard it mentioned several times, so I checked out the first ep of Penguindrum to see what that show even is about with that weird title.
A while later I had caught up on all episodes so far.
This show is wonderfully deranged. There's so much stuff in there that's both hilarious as well as goddamn freaky and you barely ever know if you should laugh at it or not. Ringo is the best example there. Nevermind that she has a goddamn Death Note (http://i.imgur.com/DZukS.jpg) (don't worry, no spoilers in that image). Nice easter egg there, creators.
Feeling a bit more conflicted about Ringo after the most recent episode when the secret of her diary and the reason she acts like a crazed stalker is revealed. Poor girl ;__;
EDIT: Started Tiger & Bunny as well now, because when I actually have to do uni-assignments is the time when I am most prone to doing other things :V
Love the take on superheroes that this series does, and the characters are all around well done and fun to watch.
Plus the animation, especially in the action-scenes, is a pleasure to look at.

Wait a second, people actually thought Carnival Phantasm was going to not be incredible? What the hell, did you not watch the PV
a thousand times? There was no question that it was going to be absolutely perfect in every way and one of the best anime of the year, but only for the existing TYPE-MOON fans (it wasn't made to win any converts).
Also, the 300 page artbook it came with is phenomenal and makes me feel slightly less bad about dropping 7000 yen on it.

Only Sion and Reisbyfe were from Melty Blood, but the other characters (as well as Hisui's Brainwasher Detective schtick) were from Kagetsu Tohya and the fan disk, so don't feel bad about not understanding it. It wasn't the most accessible episode.

It's not really anime that I'm watching now, since it's been a few weeks (actually, over a month) but the last thing I watched was Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight. Yeah, quite a classic of fantasy anime (and I really should resume watching it). I really like the German dub, especially since it practically has Parn as Frodo (Parn's VA of the most recent dub also voiced Frodo in the German version of LotR). And I enjoy it generally. It really feels like a classic fantasy series and also somewhat like a RPG. Which isn't surprising considering RoLW's roots.
However, the more I watch of it, the less I like Shiris. Mind you, I didn't really like her from the beginning, but after a while she became really annoying. I even would have preferred it, if she had died instead of Orson

So each new episode of Kaiji, from like ep 18 onwards, has been giving me stronger and longer lasting heart attacks with every cliffhanger. The pacing is so well done in this series, that if someone told me last year, "This time next year, one of two series you'll be following will involve a man trying to beat the unbeatable pachinko machine," I would have laughed until Coke shot out my nose, even if I wasn't drinking any.
But it's a fantastic series. Unbearably manly, a great deal of tension, but also a lot of smarts. Kaiji achieves the impossible not through oh-so-convenient happenstances or some bullshit tech we never heard of. He thinks shit through, with surprisingly plausible results.
Furthermore, even though we're at ep 22 - and four episodes away from our conclusion - where everything is a stand-off between Our Hero and The Villian, we really don't know how it's going to turn out. Kaiji is a good guy, but he also has piss poor luck and a way of digging himself into a deeper hole in an effort to get out of the one he's already in. This, and the pacing, make for some great suspense.
Oh, and the final 30 seconds, where a live-action Japanese woman recites quotes from Kaiji as if she were reading poetry, well, that's just the cherry on top.

How they built up the tension over a dozen episodes that left you screaming until finally, in one episode, they wrapped the whole thing up gloriously? There's not going to be any climax until ep 26. I can't even describe Kaiji S2 episode 25. That was just...wow.
Yeah, that was one satisfying episode alright. Of course we all know it's not gonna be that easy for Kaiji, as the last five minutes suggested. I have a terrible feeling about how this series is going to end, and I hope I'm wrong. But just to have it on record, I predict that during a confrontation between the old man and Kaiji over whether his wins were ill-gotten or not, Kaiji will be presented with the choice of freeing his friends from the underground in exchange for his slavery, or being able to skip out on his own, and Kaiji will of course sacrifice himself for his friends.
I really hope they avoid this or some other easy answer, because this series has been one hell of a ride and I'd love to see it go out with a surprise bang.

But just to have it on record, I predict that during a confrontation between the old man and Kaiji over whether his wins were ill-gotten or not, Kaiji will be presented with the choice of freeing his friends from the underground in exchange for his slavery, or being able to skip out on his own, and Kaiji will of course sacrifice himself for his friends.
I really hope they avoid this or some other easy answer, because this series has been one hell of a ride and I'd love to see it go out with a surprise bang.
This is more than a little caused by my skimming of the Wikipedia article and forgetting the editors of the site have no concept of spoilers, but I'm pretty sure that when Hyoudou was talking about "that trash who owes Teiai 700,000,000 yen," he was referring to the one who let that payment escape. Namely, Ichijou. He talked earlier about how he must keep the appearances of fairness up no matter what, so I doubt he'll deny Kaiji the money.

Just finished Kaiji S2 episode 20. I liked the first arc alright, but I'm not really feeling it on this one. There's just way too much stuff that makes me stop and say, "Oh what the fuck? That's bullshit/that would never work/how could he possibly have known that."
Their plan to get past the flippers
in particular is totally contrived and ridiculous, and depends entirely on mountains of incidental shit that they couldn't possibly have any clue about. It's still a cool show and all, but seriously. We're starting to approach Death Note levels of circumstantial bullshit at this point.

And it's actually got a good chance to happen considering that the ending sequence of season 2 (Mikoko and Kaiji on a date) is already a scene from the part of the manga that would become season 3 for the anime, as I was told.

Watching Season 2 of Ika Musume has convinced me of what many anime fans have known all along - sub groups matter.
When I watched the first episode, I was appalled by the wooden dialogue and the clumsy attempts to "squiduify", like, at least one word in every sentence she said. I realize this might be how she talks in Japanese, but in English it just sounds cloying and awkward. At first I was afraid Ika Musume had taken a turn for the terrible. But then I watched the episode again, subbed by FFPeeps. Suddenly, the magic was back.
So I just want to take this opportunity to thank Ika Musume and the lazy sunsabitches over at KindaHorrible subs. No longer will I leap upon the first subbed 720p episode. I would rather wait a few days longer for FFPeeps or Underwater to sub each episode (and it doesn't actually take that much longer) than have to endure another 24 minutes of groaning and cringing at the shoddy work of a sub group that just doesn't care.

Shinshu is too small to accommodate all the humans, so they create an alternate dimension, ‘Jusou Sekai’, to live in. In order to get back to Tenjou, humans try to relive the Earth’s history as described in the Testament from 10,000 B.C. onward. So in essence, this is not a bad show to begin with, disregarding the general perspective so far, the nervously anticipated bits have yet to be shown, and as a whole if it follows even one huge main route, it is itself a massive story to tell.
You should see the novels, despite being LIGHT novels, one of the books weight about 700grms, and about 500 pages long. ONE of them, I am not counting the other 14- or so books which this convulating story takes part in. Including what I could only from far make out the MASSIVE backstory behind the mothership, the crew, the people before them and after them...
Yes, it is basically Muv Luv meets Nation States but with lots and lots of Type Moon MASSIFYING shit... (as in one story leads to another backstory which itself is another story of another backstory of another route which is a story on its on)
The anime industry just likes animating this kinda thing... truth to be said if you wanna animate the length of this entire series: it will take about 10 seasons and 25 episodes each. (and that is reaching to what is already being read at this point, faithfully following the chapters and skipping the fanservice) Yeah, thats right, check out that massive plot.
- on an interesting note: the world setting seems a bit Dragonball-ish, there are mechas that act like humans, and what appears to be demons and wolfmen and so on... in a mixed society of human and non-human as well as non-humanoid creatures.... very interesting, we haven't seen this kinda setting except maybe in One Piece... last I recall.

so I am watching the first episode and this:
Kawakami City is famous for its strong dedication to its samurai ancestors. A healthy fighting spirit is always valued and it’s even an important factor for success at school.
came out very good, though for clearly due to the history buff in me, I saw the first episode and I can tell it was the battle of Kawanakajima between Shingen and Kenshin (so obvious it hurt) and it was directly ripped off one of the Samurai Warriors campaign modes with either characters. There are female-nazi-commandos and lots of female samurais... who does most of the fighting while the men were apparently mostly strategists... kinda strange here.
It is really good in that department, but I fear this would not be the mainstay, as harem seems to be the mode of story telling here.
I sure hope it keeps the heavy samurai battles influence, then maybe it can be watchable for the rest of the season.
(the fun thing is that this is basically one of the Sengoku Basara/Warriors animated in a school setting, because all these female commandos and whoever else fighting are the mainstay of the force while cannon fodders are aplenty; and when I say mainstay I do mean at least one of them could fire entire nuclear torpedoes with bow and arrows... per shot. *their names are mostly twisted and turned versions of what is readily available from the history books, good job linguistics of Japan)
Seems like most of the samurai girls are actually super samurais on their own anyway... save the work guys, let's go have some beer and the girls will fight on our behalf, HONEY CLEAN UP THOSE INTESTINES PLEASE)

Yeah, Mirai Nikki owns. The first episode didn't have a wasted moment, and very clearly and concisely outlined what the set-up for the entire series is going to be about.

I really wanted to like Un-Go, but ... Christ, it was bad. Insufferably bad. Every character was just so wooden and forced and awkward. It was more like watching a marionette show than an anime.
Fortunately, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai continues to be hilarious. I don't even mind the smattering of fanservice they toss in there. It's a fun comedy that doesn't try too hard to beat you over the head with the "lesson", but it's still got something to say underneath two high school girls calling each other Meat and Witch while the male protag sighs.
So, the show I should like, I found terrible. And a show that I really shouldn't like at all, I'm finding quite enjoyable. It's a surprising season.

Also, I tried watching C3, and just... ugh. I couldn't get more than a few minutes in. Everyone is way too accepting of crap that happens, they open up way too quickly, it goes too fast... They just don't feel like real people. It felt more like a bad fanfiction that a teenage girl would write. =/

What can I say.... I really like the sleeve destroying, Manly shoulder arrow charging. I find it very innovative that you can have an Anime/ that still looks like an "Anime" with a main male character.

Fortunately, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai continues to be hilarious. I don't even mind the smattering of fanservice they toss in there. It's a fun comedy that doesn't try too hard to beat you over the head with the "lesson", but it's still got something to say underneath two high school girls calling each other Meat and Witch while the male protag sighs.
So, the show I should like, I found terrible. And a show that I really shouldn't like at all, I'm finding quite enjoyable. It's a surprising season.
Checked this show out earlier today and quite liked it. If you like this, you should give Denpa Onna a look. Very similar humor and art style.

Gawd I love disabled-tan (I dunno her name) and her high tech wheelchair. the fact she looks like Asuka Langley made me hate her, but I guess part of her charm is how strong willed she is, and during episode 2 her character fortified greatly in terms of personality and expression.

Oh man. Inuyasha. It's been a long time. Very fond memories, though. I haven't seen or read any bit of it for about 8 years or so, but I still have fond memories of it, especially the Seven Man Army arc.
Outside of that, y'all are missing out on the second season of Last Exile. It's like leaving a pristine, well-maintenanced BMW in the garage. Everything feels just right and the whole thing seems to be a step ahead in every category. "Yes, let's keep the fantabulous airship battles involving dozens of ships that was part of what made the original so exciting. Yes, let's put the closest thing we can swing to a Death-Star trench run sequence in episode two. Yes, let's plop a slew of fun, interesting, and plot-relevant characters that are guaranteed to get heavy development later on right into the viewers' laps. And let's keep the drama, the tension, and mystical elements high throughout." Admittedly, the only thing that the first season has over the second right now is Captain Harlock Jr. Whatev. So if you don't want to, I'll have LE2 allllllll to myself and take her out for a spin all I please. I'm sure somewhere someone is stomaching another cliched harem show instead of watching this.

What I understood: 1. Motonobu is a crazed leader who sees no hope in continuing to run through history games in peace, since Testament is broken or whatever there is no need to continue to re-write history and decided to blow up one of the prime foundations of the world (Mikawa) as a way to create new history, in other words, to wake people up so they can get on to their lives and not waste time attaining heavenly rights.
2. Of all the people Honda Tadakatsu, whom like his historic counterpart was as loyal and as dumb, in his following of Ieyasu in history, his death was itself a well-meant one, though in this case, it was him following Motonobu. His death was as romantic as it was epic, surely one of the best couples in recent anime history, and they aren't even young. Truly epic and bravo. If I recall Motonobu was the son of Ieyasu?
3. Motonobu was heavily and deeply involved in the development of the 8 Armors, and there is 1 more which he personally created, signalling that only he knows exactly how to make one or otherwise (is to be proven whether there are people who know how to make them) and the secrets died with him. His attempt at causing apocalypse so that people will deal a great war of chaos without their emperor Motonobu would clearly itself be wondrous. of the one armor, he hoped that much like the A-Bomb, by giving people a means to try and find his will from the weapons he created, he can spur people to spin their own history?
4. There is a reason why P01s Horizon was picked as a target, her instruction manual was always 'wait and get arrested' and become the prized thing that everyone wants. While the prudes in the Spanish League (pardon) wants to execute her out of high order, the truth is they also share power and has no such ability, perhaps this was Motonobu's plan all along and he wanted the young men and women to chase after the weapon and turn it into a key of peace that is really not following the history, the other being that Motonobu had intended for things to be this way so that the young men and women no longer have to suffer the 'oppression' from other nations such as the Spanish League. (clearly so, because they are like the Americans to the Iraqis right now in relationship, they pretend to work together to gain some kind of benefit, and Motonobu was sick of this BLAME JAPAN for all the falling out heaven bullshit). Incidentally, the best place to do it was Mikawa one of the prime reactors are here supporting the known world. It is like a huge slap to the face of the other nations.

Mind you, sometimes simple set-ups like "Rin tries to set the Blu-Ray", or "The Melty girls play volleyball", or especially "Berserker goes shopping for batteries" make the best comedy~

With the sword at first it was just slash slash, then at the start of this scene he started using the shields to bounce off of and pretty much fly and shit, and finally near the end the sword collapsed and started moving fluidly which was p much dessert for my brain.
One of the little subtleties I really liked was when Makoto (who is cool in an insane way and is probably only with the GHQ to obtain intel of the Genome and such since he obviously has supapowas) told Shu not to trust people who tell him to "believe in himself". In contrast, at the end Gai tells him "if you can't decide for yourself, then believe in me". That's why I figure Shu went with them.
It's honestly too early to tell, but if Shu keeps going off on his own it's likely he'll get a ton of people killed. Moreover, if Inori keeps being a moron, Shu will go to her and just as likely get a ton of people killed. Also Gai is really suspicious. The power to read Voids? The inherent knowledge of how Voids work and all the requirements and knowing that there are only three in the world? Seriously what.

one of the theories I suggested before was Gai may have been a former employee/employer/personnel under the GHQ, or at least his predecessor was (this is not revealed, nor confirmed) and that he may have been one of those also to escape from the GHQ and subsequently obtained the info he needed to launch his Undertakers campaign.
The other is that he seems well aware of the Void and its properties, this may be a theory but he may have been one of the test subjects for the Void's development, as the guy with the purple hair in GHQ and also previous episode described that the Void did not come from first tries, there were many 'cultivations' but only three are stable and and therefore usable. One of them dropped into Shu's grasp. Perhaps in this sense, Gai knows of the Void and all of the GHQ internal atrocities not only by understanding what GHQ is doing but also because he was once at the helm of doing what they did.
Another concept I believe is that Gai seems to consistently know the Void's nature, perhaps he may be a certain kind of Void user as well, though it was stated the tube containing the gene(?) was meant for his use, perhaps his was a... unfinished prototype? He definitely comes with a certain wisdom, a calm collected wisdom quite unlike his surface and age, we may never know why is he so precise and has such a quality of leadership, because people don't develop overnight. It seems Undertakers also took a lot of time to gather into its successful private army as we see now, so perhaps at some stage Gai and the team that follows him now had something internal to deal with it all. Inori's band and singing may have something to do with it, seeing as she also has the ability to jump several flights of buildings...

That entire episode was incredibly sad, depraved and insane. Even the brief Power Rangers-esque comedy relief wasn't enough to counterbalance just how sick and crazy the survival game is getting. I'm beginning to suspect the participants were chosen because they're all actually deeply mentally ill.
In other words, I love this series.

You know, there's no rational reason why I should be enjoying Haganai as much as I do. It's a harem anime that slaps on generous doses of fanservice and tsundere-ism, and the "big secret" being "hinted" at is incredibly obvious. Yet the gags are genuinely funny, the characters are well conceived, and each episode makes me look forward to the next one. I had this written off as a mindless hangover anime from the very beginning. Maybe it's because of my initial low expectations that it's managed to be one of my favorites this season (right after Mirai Nikki), but I'm really loving this series and pretty much every character in it.
And Rika is my clear favorite, for obvious reasons.

personally, I am really all for Sena when it comes to the doujins, but character wise, either Rika or Kobato grabs my heart like a strong grip. Kobato being in constant LARP state makes me Hnnnghhh non=stop.

HOLY SHIT she can use firearm? and our MC is actually working his way to ALPHA? I think this deserves praise, and the fact that it needs a few heartbreaks for a man to become a man so so emphasized in this show makes me wonder, how many more 'I can't take it anymores' can our MC Shu take it before he goes batshit on Inori? I am thinking that is what's gonna happen.
Also, in this episode the character strength of Wheelchair-moe is show out through, her unwavering strength, her pride, her ways with people, this is the kind of woman I wish to marry. The way she knocked down Shu with her wheelspin shows her strength of character like nothing else 'bitch, don't be looking down on me just cause I have no feel on these sexy ass legs. I can turn your ass into curry twice over while having a manicure session and sipping Mai Tai'

I completely agree, I just hope she doesn't end up following the common curve of strong-women characters in anime, where they're originally portrayed as self-sufficient and could kick your ass three times before breakfast, but as the series goes on they become nigh-useless and helpless in comparison to the main hero. They don't seem like they're going to introduce a whole lot more of the main cast, so I hope the relevant characters don't get lost in the plot-advancement-dust.
I do think Inori has feelings for Shu, but to be completely honest that rejection was downright hilarious. The way Shu blurted out that he liked her and thought she was reciprocating based on "stay with me forever" and lines like that, most embarrassing thing ever. It should be pretty clear to the viewer that Inori does like Shu from the way she acts and such; even though she said Gai told her to say those cheesy lines, he likely didn't. Inori has been going off on her own for a bit and Gai can't truly keep a hold on her, which has got to count for something. Inori just counts on Gai because Gai essentially gave her a life, made her who she is, which basically requires the utmost loyalty and devotion. Because of this she's struggling between who she feels she must love, and who she wants to love. But Shu doesn't know any of that. His only real reason for coming with the Undertakers was Inori, so it's still pretty interesting that he still has the capacity to betray them.

Yeah, this was a weird episode. Homocidal toddlers, as a concept, has always seemed ridiculous to me and therefore difficult to enjoy. Let's hope it doesn't repeat itself later on.
That said, he did raise a good point; the elephant in the room that sooner or later, it's just going to be the two of them. I haven't read the manga but I'm pretty sure that's how it's going to go. And then what?

1) Yes, just as I guessed, this should be clear proof that Gai has something to do with the development of the genes which lead to the Void user, in fact, judging by his sentiments towards GHQ and its atrocities which at this point seem like (hard hitting americans who subjugate spineless japanese folk into following them into glorified terrorist activities like blowing up high profile civilian ships) idiocy and pure political hatred/military junta-ism. Gai has the ability to discern the type of Void from Kuhoin Arisa easily, judging by the fact that he looked in her eye and made the story about the armadillo.
2) As expected, GHQ has moved beyond its original ideology to 'contain diseases' which at this point seems like a backdrop, nothing has been explained about the development of the disease and how it has become what is effectively a militaristic estate using medical as its support.
3) Kuhoin Arisa is HAWT, reminds me of Cecilia <---- (my avy) gotta love them lose Yukari-esque hair and ojousama-attitude.
4) HOWEVER, GAI YOU SEXY BASTARD HOW ARE YOU SO FABULOUS AND SEXY? I bet all the fangirls fangasm over the perfect gentleman. Seriously he makes Shu looks like an un-evolved gorilla.
5) In this episode: Using a giant shield shaped like a mushroom to reflect and render all missiles into fireworks, and people inside know absolutely nothing.

And then, while it was airing, I heard it was awesome, so I was going to watch it once it had finished airing so that I could marathon it at a later date.

Um... Seriously though, feel-good anime of the year, no doubt. It's well worth a check out, even if you're not into the Nasuverse (I'm not bullshitting here, I know quite a few people who are only vaguely verse in Nasuverse stuff (hell, some people who don't even like the Nasuverse) who love the show).
Don't know about the others, although since I haven't heard anything about Penguindrum since the initial hype I'm thinking it probably failed to live up to it. Although knowing me it did and I haven't been looking in the right places and I just stuck my foot in my mouth, but... Um... Yeah. >.>

FINALLY starting Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Spiral Labyrinth. When first(?) we met(?) our heroes, Yang Wenli was living an okay life with his pappy until the plot kicked in 90 seconds later, then winds up saving millions of lives by the end of the episode. Poor guy simply proves he's not inept, winds up being the hero, then has to pay for it in stardom. All he wanted to do was help out and be done with things.
Also, I feel kinda lonely being the only one to be enjoying Last Exile S2. That's okay, though, because it's fantastic. I have it all to myself. :P

I'll just say that anyone who was surprised by the last five minutes of ep 11 needs their head examined. Of course, so does our humble protag for being utterly clueless through ten episodes.
But this, of course, is forgivable because Haganai is doing for harem anime what Toradora did for tsundere love triangles: improving the genre while satirizing it. The characters are interesting, the comedy is great, and the emotional bits actually have an effect.
It's a shame our final episode is around the corner. I'm really going to miss this show.

Simoun, Strawberry Panic, Kaishaku stuff (Kannazuki no Miko, Steel Angel Kurumi (both seasons), probably starting Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora tomorrow). S'been a pretty fun and unproductive week :V Also, stuff I've been keeping up with this season are Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, Bento and Mirai Nikki.

Minene is fast becoming my favorite character in this series. She'll play up to typical expectations of what a woman (in an anime series anyway) is supposed to be one moment, only to smash those same expectations in the next. My only complaint is she's a bit one dimensional. They keep hinting at some tragic childhood - well, can we learn more about that? What made her become a terrorist? What's her cause? Who is this person? This is sort of the same problem we have with Yuuno. OK, she's nuts and probably killed her parents, but why?
This series keeps me looking forward to the next episode, and I'm glad it's going to go as long as it will. I just really hope we can learn more about these characters.

Well, with this, the first arc of rescuing Horizon is done.
This means from here on Toori will truly use his power, since he has unlimited powers and all, I like to see exactly what he can finally pull off.
There is a reason why he can do what he did in the this episode, for the wall will only crush those too prideful too weak to withstand their own terrible pasts, and he has absolved himself of his own past, he accepted it, and moved on, he can change and because Horizon is there again, he has hope....
Now, this is the true beginning of the story.

Rika is pretty much my dream girl at this point.

If not, I have to say this was a really enjoyable series. I wish more satire was done this well. Ah well. Still only halfway through Mirai Nikki and Bakuman, aren't we? And then comes spring - the season with nothing going on except an anime that I will have needed to play the game it's based on to understand (although Sankarea looks like it has potential).

Gundam AGE is the newest addition to the Gundam Franchise, which began airing in October 2011 as part of Sunrise's autumn 2011 lineup. This revolves on three generations of pilots, namely Flit Asuno, his son Asem, and the latter's son, Kio. A manga, several models, a card game, and a video game have already been announced.
The sudden appearance of a hostile force know only as the UE (Unknown Enemy) prompted the Federation to hire Flit Asuno to build the ultimate weapon to beat back the UE: the Gundam AGE-1. As the Hundred Year War rages on between Earth and the UE, Flit, Asem, and Kio must use the Gundam to defend the Earth.

I think think the best romance relax show this season (also harem but yeah, quality harem) has to be Mashiro-iro-Symphony, it is simply a beautiful expected ending that I wanted, though if Uryuu decide to move onto Sana it is good too. (not our Sana, the show's Sana/Kyouko wannabe), the characters are crafted well, and for godsakes it is not an imouto end, thank many heavens. (I must be reminded of the sorrow that I endured for Akane iro Somaru Saka). Everything pretty much was relaxed, romantic and beautiful, with a moral of something as well: if you truly love something, set it free. Pannya reunited with her mother was beautiful.

I have no love for Gundam AGE, it is just ergh. however, admittedly the evil looking transforming Gundam MK-1 or something is pretty rad.
I must comment that I lack interest in this new Gundam, the art is one thing but the story is especially unwelcoming, even my Gundam buddy doesn't watch this one.
is it better than SEED? yes, is it worse than Destiny? Also yes.

...yes I'm slow be quiet. ;_; Interested to see where things go, having not watched the US dub, though I'm not quite sure how said dub would have managed to make Syaoran Li the main character. Even in episode 8, which was apparently the start of the dub, it seemed very Sakura-centric.

Well, the actor for Rurouni Kenshin is also one of my favorite characters in Kamen Rider Kabuto (aka, the best Rider in Heisei era) and plays Kagami in said show/Kamen Rider Gatack. His acting may be the saving grace from all too much awesome in that show... I can't really say it is not good so much as seeing him cut down people with a blade this time.
For one thing, it is clear the manga has him superhuman speed and all, and this show will rely what I can only hope to be 'original Musashi-style/ Seven Samurais style where people actually are SAMURAIS and not superhuman samurais like in the manga, you might remember where eventually everyone after Shishio is basically superhuman at some degree...
From the show, Saito is apparently present, AKU ZAI ZEN!! Can't wait to see him pull off that stabbing sword move which breaks walls and shit like nothing. Wonder if the bad guy is Shishio or some other... would be great if it is Awesome Bandage Guy don't you agree? Oh my, I am ranting now... >_>

I never liked dubs, it kills the flavor. I still have my full 4CD collection of CCS Music (comes with a potpourri scented booklet with lyrics and pretty pictures as well as artist commentary) maybe I should pull that out and karaoke the hell outta it. Still one of the best Magical Girl opening themes ever (the 1st one that goes 'It;s alright daijoubu x3 kiseki da-ate okoseru~'

Correct me if I'm wrong, since its been really long since I watched Cardcaptors and it was when I was really little. I finished CCS, so I remember that.
Let's see, I believe they made Syaoran the co-cardcaptor of sorts in the dub. Instead of making him like the dickish rival in CCS, they made him into more of a partner rival. Even though Sakura is the only cardcaptor in CCS, Syaoran is also referred as one in CC. This kind of gave him this position as the 2nd main character since he had the same 'occupation' as Sakura. I'd bring up another example, but its rather spoileriffic, so please continue to enjoy your CCS.

Wha-seriously? Awesome. Now all we need is Tendou as Saito.
Also, I think that they will try to go for a bit more of realism. Or rather, I hope so since flashy special effects might kill the 'mood'. I think it would be nice if they added in the superhuman effects in a really clever way that adds to the awesome without subtracting from the realism too much. Otherwise, we cant really do Shishio's flame sword stuff like the Kaguzuchi. For that matter, half the Hittenmitsurugi-ryu moves are kind of impractical/impossible. Kuzuryuusen? Ryuutsuisen? Or the Ryuukansen? Especially the final attack whose name I cant remember off the top of my head. Speaking of impossible, how about Sojiro? Yeah.

Technically there is no way in hell gravity permits a sword that can cut horses down with a single swipe and no man, no matter how well trained can wield that shit. Heck, if Spartans won't do it there must be a reason: they can't. What Spartans can't do probably means fuck the Japanese they don't have half that power to match. (considering the ages apart, I reckon the toughest thoroughbred samurai already died from seppuku anyway, or with Tom Cruise whichever comes first. )
Yet, oh yeah, that one guy who can punch and break rocks.
Needs more Hanyo (was that his name?) and that ninja girl with a ponytail, because I really like her.

So, I started watching Natsume Yuujinchou Shi. I didn't see the first two seasons, nor have I read the manga (which reminds me, I ought to read more manga), but it didn't seem to matter - backstory was provided within the first episode without shoehorning it in. A high school kid who has adventures with youkai only he can see is a premise with a lot of potential, and we're starting off well here, I think. The pacing is steady without being lethargic, and the characters are interesting, even if some of the youkai seem to be lifted directly from Studio Ghibli. It's that Ghibli feel that makes the show charming, to me anyway, and I think it'll be a good watch. And in a season as lacking as Spring 2012 seems to be, that's certainly welcome.

Ammy: Keep me updated on Natsume and how good you think it is. I've read the manga as it's been released in the US, and I think it's one of the most beautiful stories ever committed to paper. If the anime can replicate that, then I absolutely want to watch it.
Also! In between Penguindrumming during the original run of the series, Matsy and I took a break to watch Nanoha classic. It was excellent. That scene with Fate and Nanoha on the bridge in the last episode... now I know how it became an iconic scene.
Last night, since two of our group's viewers bowed out early and the third had to go, Mats and I decided to watch some A's. It was late, but we couldn't put it down until episode 4. It is amazingly engaging from the very first episode, oh man. I can't wait for the A's movie. Saw the trailer a few days ago, and I must see it in full as soon as I can.

Nisemonogatari reminds me of my conflicted relationship with Bakemonogatari. It's very pretty to look at, the direction is quirky and sharp, but I find myself spacing out in the middle of all that talkingtalkingtalkingtalkingtalking.

Actually, when I paused the episode and scrolled back to pay attention to what was being said, I did find it interesting or funny (the bit about how adding "courage" to anything makes what you've said sound that much more important was pretty amusing). They just really need to do some trimming with the script, or at least pace it better.

I just rewatched the 2010 Sonohana OVA done by Chuchu...
I cried...
I really cried. I found it incredibly sweet and romantic, especially knowing the relationship between Mai and Reo in the first place, and the music is also really nice to go along with everything, despite the H yuri-yuri part of it, I couldn't help but sniffle just feeling so moved and touched by everything. And the ending was just perfect for me... I can't believe it, but I'd appreciate more H like that. Nowadays it's all the hardcore lame stuff that is quite unpleasant :(

According to Otona Anime magazine vol.23, Nisemonogatari was announced to be 11 episodes long. Director Shinbo Akiyuki intended to reproduce the high pace of the conversation of the characters in the novel with the relatively short length of the series. Shinbo also said he wanted to animate all the Monogatari novels and catch up with the newly published Koimonogatari. There have been twelve Monogatari novels published so far and the whole series will be concluded by the next three volumes: Tsukimonogatari, Owarimonogatari, and Zoku Owarimonogatari, to be released this year.

Synopsis: 26 years ago, in a third-year classroom of a middle school, there was a student named Misaki. As an honors student who was also good at sports, the charming girl was popular with her classmates. When she suddenly died, her classmates decided to carry on as if she was still alive until graduation. Then, in the spring of 1998, a boy named Sakakibara Kouichi transfers to that classroom, and he grows suspicious of the fearful atmosphere in that classroom. In particular, there is a beautiful, aloof girl named Mei Misaki who wears an eyepatch and is always alone drawing pictures.

there is also Ano Natsu - While testing his new 8mm camera at night, Kaito Kirishima is caught amid a mysterious explosion in his small town. Strangely, Kaito wakes up the next day perfectly fine, but with no recollection of what exactly happened the day before. Discussing with his friends about the camera, they decide to make a movie during summer break. OK, the plot to this looks hilarious. I'll have to check this out, and give Another a chance.
Really enjoying Natsume Yuujinchou Shi as well, but it has exactly the type of story idea I'd like, so it can't really fail.
Nisemonogatari will hopefully not be a struggle. That first episode was really pretty, and funny in places but that interview blurb with the director posted upthread doesn't bode well to me. Again, a matter of personal preference, but anime with loads of fast dialogue lose me.
At the same time, Bakuman plods along, but Mirai Nikki just continues to get better.

My friend made me watch the first couple of episodes of Evangelion. Never thought I'd like mech anime, but it's great so far.
Finished K-ON! and really regretting it. It was a huge waste of time and I hate myself for liking it so much, especially since I feel a horrible urge to buy all the K-ON! figmas now.
Ano Natsu looks pretty, but the OP seems be more high school drama than supernatural.

There is no shame in liking K-On, it is a light hearted show filled with all the fluff high school girls do.
It is fantastic, a patron in the hall of fame of what Anime offers American Cartoons don't.
No seriously, it is not always about rescuing princesses or stopping a bad guy from taking over a faraway country in a strange land far far away.

K-On is PERFECTO, also, Mugi forever.
Probably one of the best shows this season: Another, from episode 1 of the get go there was everything and anything that a mystery drama fan could want, this show... it is reeking of awesome.

So, I watched the two episodes of this today.
Everything about this show is great. It's got space, it's got pirates, it's got what looks like will be a pirate spaceship with a crew of high school girls (yet surprisingly, absolutely no fan service), and some truly over-the-top comedy. Then there's little absurd touches like:
- The protagonist working in a maid caf?, which gradually fills up with assorted tough guys. Then her classmate shows up and orders a chocolate parfait. When a gunfight breaks out, the classmate rescues the protag, and as they later have their "what the hell was that about" conversation, the classmate is still finishing her chocolate parfait.
- "Oh, didn't I tell you? Yeah, your dad - who you never knew and you probably always wondered about - was the captain of a famous pirate ship. And he died of food poisoning, very recently, as my two friends here just told you." - "Oh, that's OK, mom. For some reason this bombshell of news doesn't bother me at all!"
- "Good morning class. I'm your new teacher. And I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm married." The entire class of groans.
I don't know if this stuff is intentionally satirical of the genre, or if the writers are just completely clueless, but either way the show works. It's ridiculous fun, and will likely be a welcome counterbalance to the heavy-duty emotional nature of Mirai Nikki and Another.
Meanwhile, Bakuman goes through the motions. Why am I still following this series? Maybe because, 15 episodes into the second season, I feel like I can't rightly drop it. And the ED is amazing.

And following Mouretsu Pirates as well now. Loving the setup so far, and the charas seem fun. Second ep could have had a bit less techno-babble, but it was pretty awesome regardless. And the zero-gravity scenes were fun XD

So, thoughts on CCS so far, as of episode 15:
- It's nice and whimsical, which gives it a sort of cheer-up quality, in my opinion.
- Iced has made a point of reminding me that this was a CLAMP work.
Wondering where Tomoyo's apparent crush on Sakura, and Sakura and Li's obvious ones on Yukito, will lead...

- Seems like some of the episodes here are starting to focus more on relationships, rather than on the Clow Cards...could be interesting.
Will try to go a bit faster, but college starts up again tomorrow, and I've gotten myself sucked into various things (Shadowrun, Katawa Shoujo, etc.) now too...if I can just watch a couple episodes a day, though, that should work.

My defense is that the techno-babble works because it will never be used in a realistic or purposeful fashion ever; it's just there to fulfill the duty of going over the watcher's head because they're using a goddamn spaceship, you shouldn't be able to understand it.

It's just a tiny thing, though, so... But yeah, definitely following this one. I cannot say no to a series whose translated name is apparently "Bodacious Space Pirates", because hells to the fuck yeah that sounds exactly like my kind of thing.
Although I'm hoping all the promotional material and the intro hasn't been faking us out and Marika actually gets to wear that awesome pirate get-up pretty soon, but this doesn't seem like the kind of show to fake us out like that so... Because it is a pretty awesome outfit.

The comedy relief in Mirai Nikki was most welcome, and the "Exchange Galleries" were neat. The "Flirtation Diary" was a bit of a stretch, though.
Mouretsu Pirates, I think, is a self-aware parody of the entire "girls in space" genre. I became convinced of this when the outside mast needed to be repaired, and the girls' spacesuits had been classically designed by an otaku on the crew. There's no way the creators aren't making fun of the genre while having fun with it at the same time.
Plus, that OP is just glorious.

The OP's gone from god tier to dog tier. Other than that, great hair ep. Bit edgy about the fact that we're halfway through the manga with 15 eps down, 11 (?) to go.
Also I had no idea there was a Mirai Nikki visual novel (http://vndb.org/v7249). Apparently it came out in early 2010, but then I found this website (http://www.kadokawa.co.jp/game/mirainikki/) and it makes me wonder if they're remaking/re-releasing it. If 4/26 is the release date it'll be about when the anime ends.
Several innovations make this game stand out, such as the Yandere Operation system, which entails Yuno eliminating some of your choices when her bar is full (sometimes for better, sometimes for worse).

It's more the animation I'm complaining about, the music's fine (though I still prefer the OP1 theme by a large margin). Mainly I'm just sore they took the awesome part from the end of the first OP and defaced it by splitting it into 3 and playing it at WARP SPEED.

Man though. For a very, very relaxed anime that is currently focused on the high-school girls half, it's really very well-balanced and nice. The OP definitely catches people off-guard because they're expecting fucking random lasers and shouting and pirate fights of awesomeness, but it definitely is still really enjoyable and obviously has a crapload of room to grow. This was probably the first episode where Marika has really shown a lot of prowess that isn't defined within the series' scope of electronic lingo. What's more is that said lingo is becoming easier to understand as they explore it. Some people seem to be like "man this is going way over my head" but as I mentioned before, it's supposed to. It's a giant fucking spaceship set in a world where they are obviously more advanced than you and the main character is a high-school girl who also isn't immediately familiar with everything. It's supposed to go slightly over your head, for now. If the lingo continues to expand and offer no hints or context as to what it means, then yeah, probably not that great. But for now it's already becoming clear and I'm becoming disappointed at the people who are dropping it because it's "too boring" or whatever. Honestly I'm closer to dropping Another than Pirates.
(ep 3 of another made it more interesting but simultaneously also blatantly went "this is where the series is going", which both turns me on and puts me off)

Yeah, it's really nice how Pirates doesn't just go "Hi, we're on a spaceship, in space, now to the action", it actually takes the time to show how things work in this space-setting. And it manages to be very entertaining at it. It's a very refreshing take on a space-ship-story.

I wanted to comment on this, because one of the things I'm enjoying about this show is Marika isn't some sort of Paul Atreides who just immediately understands how everything works and excels at it. She has good instincts, but has a poor grasp of tech, and we had the yacht club advisor calling her battle plans full of holes, but with a lot of promise. I find this a far more refreshing take than where creators usually go with these "child with a destiny" scenarios, where they drop behind the controls of the ship and just own at everything.
And anyone who's dropped this series because there've been no space battles at episode 4 of a 25-episode series is being ridiculous.
And the OP is so good, even my five-year-old sings along to it.

It was that whole plot segment/revelation/device that did it. Not only was it pretty poorly executed, but it was a major portion of twelve episodes of plot then suddenly the writers dump a load of poo and run away. It ended up not really explaining anything important besides "this is what is happening right now lol flashback flashback" and then poof it's over in a rather unsatisfying fashion. 12 was a load of balls and screwed up the whole arc, pretty much.
Aside from that it's just a bit genre-conforming.

One character after another asks the protag, "has anyone told you the terrible, terrible story of violence that happened in this very school?," he says no, and they say, "Oh, I see. Welp, bye now!" It's fun in its own way and pretty to look at though.

Apparently I've been slacking a little too much on CCS (only just finished episode 22 today), so I figured I should also watch something else to help remind me.
Thus, Baccano! episode 1 finished...and I'm a bit confused at all these plot lines. I get that there are immortals among the cast, currently including Isaac, Firo, Luck, and Czeslaw, possibly Ladd if that injury was supposed to kill him; I also know there's some mafia-ish warfare. But where do all of these characters in the OP intersect? Are Miria, the other Gandors, Maiza, etc. immortal too? Who are Carol and the vice-director?
Guess I have to watch some more to find out.

Maybe it is a bit odd for you here, but try to imagine how politics is being talked about here in a country where political freedom is lacking.

In Another, I imagine they dare not say because later it has everything to do with association, everyone is afraid of this 'legend' and so it can only get worse with the protag asking about it.

Only instead of jealousy between two friends, there's jealousy from a third party. I'm one of the dozen or so people who actually liked the BRS movie, so this eight-episode series is aimed at me, but the first episode seemed a little stiff to me. Not excruciatingly so; just a little clumsy in parts.
Also, for a season I thought would promise very little by way of anything good, I find I'm following seven series right now (http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Tengukami). How the hell did that happen?

Ha, yeah, I don't actively hate some series, and am always boggled by people who do. Like, The Cart Driver followed and blogged about every single episode of Fractale, and just basically trashed each episode, whining about the different voice actors and complaining about plot points which could have been easily explained by actually paying attention. Why even do that? Just drop the series.

Dear god, she used the last of her strength to save him... it is... terrible... It takes Hare's death to actually make him wake the fuck up, damn it is worth it... at the same time, my tears... they can't stop why...
also, at some point I began to make parallel comparisons between Guilty Crown and Tiberium Wars, this whole alien rock causing some kinda sickness which churns out meth crystals and stuff. This whole... people becoming crumbled crystal and dust... is almost similar to Tiberium exposure (which turns you into jumping goo that randomly attack people)

Slowpoke here. Watched Madoka and most of Nichijou last month. Finished off the rest of Nichijou with some roommates last night. My God, Nichijou is amazing.
Running myself through more of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, since I watched the first season a few years ago when it was airing, but then got lazy afterwards. Zoku, Goku, Zan, here we go.

Mirai Nikki: Unfortunately I remembered the contents of this episode perfectly from the manga so there were basically no surprises, but that doesn't make it any less manly as hell.

And suddenly one of my favourite mangas comes to a completely unexpected end. If I wanted to CAPS LOCK rage at this it'd take up an entire page, so I'll just settle for a quick "FUCK EVERYTHING" and try and remain optimistic that the author's next series, Scissors Woman, will be just as fantastic. The name's a promising start anyway.

Huh, I didn't really care for those two in the manga, but they came off a lot better in the anime. Anyway, kinda concerned now at how they're gonna cram the rest of the story into the remaining 9 episodes (assuming 26 total). If they resort to gutting parts of it I'll be displeased, since most of the best stuff is yet to come.

Finally got around to seeing the beginning of Nisemonotagari. My first thought is "did I miss something between the previous season and this one?", but just from the first episode my opinion of the show is pretty favorable so far. It's still got the nonsensical conversations and absurd SHAFT animation that sold me on Bakemono.

Mouretsu Pirates continue their (perhaps unintentionally) hilarious adventures. This time around, the technobabble made sense, what plotholes there may have been were quickly forgotten, and it looks like the story is starting in earnest.
Mirai Nikki 17 was ... ugh, WTF was that? Most of the episode was comprised of telling a very cookie-cutter love story of two characters that are, frankly, ridiculous comedy relief. That's how they were set up and how they were portrayed. Why are we supposed to suddenly care about them? Meanwhile, actually interesting and compelling characters like Minene and Nishijima are complete mysteries to us. Seriously, they waste most of an episode to explain the backstories of the joke characters? Come on already.
Nisemonogatari, on the other hand, just keeps getting better. The writing is more coherent than its predecessor, the animation is slick, it's a joy to watch.
