Title: Fall of the Medieval Age: Diplomacy Renaissance! Game Over, Turkey Season
Post by: PX on January 25, 2012, 11:10:51 PM
Here's ye Diplomacy game, and here's thy host.

The game is using the Renaissance Variation of the Standard Diplomacy map, which only changes starting locations. Standard rules apply with a few changes. Switzerland is a neutral Supply Center. 18 Supply Centers are required for a solo win. If 3 years pass without a Supply Center being captured, then rocks fall and the game ends. The game will last a maximum of 12 years (24 moves). Hopefully these will enforce a more aggressive game.

Empire: Dorakyura
England: Affinity
France: Bardiche
Poland: Schezdorian G
Spain: ActionConq
Turkey: Dormio
Venice: Kasu

Stuff to remember:
You all are free to use whatever means of communication you want to at any time of the game.  Only PM your orders to me though.

You have:
72 hours to send in orders for moving turns.
24 hours to send in orders for building turns.
24 hours to send in orders for retreat phases

If you go 2 turns without sending in an order, your country will fall to civil unrest and everything you own will turn neutral.

You will all make me love you forever and my life easier if you could include Diplomacy as the title in your orders PM.

In as Poland
I can read.

I don't know about only 24 turn.  Because moving out of your base with units takes a while.  If you could extend the turns and have just one of the 3 years rocks fall rule or the 24 turns which I think will be a complete and utter bleeping disaster, it may work.  But as it stands now I'm not so sure.

In fact looking at the map.  Just starting off will make the game longer than a standard which is to say the 24 turn rule is a bit much.

In the case of a timeout, how will the victor be decided? Or will it count as rocks fall, everyone dies?

Also, for anyone else that wants Turkey, I will fight you.

Prepare yourself Turkey. I will rip your units apart 1 by 1.

They called him "The Demon of Krak?w", a human Cerberus of the modern age. The scourge of civilization; the cruel and barbarous host of murder and famine. When Constantinople fell to the Mosalmans under Mehmed II "The Conqueror," the Demon turned his eyes in that direction, for he sought to liberate the domain once more.

It was late December when his forces pushed through the Dardanelles, overwhelming the local Sheikh. The fox warrior was mercilessly chained to a wooden post hastily erected in the town square. The Demon had been surprised when he had discovered the Sheikha's womanly features, and yet she stood up to the best of his loyal retainers in physical combat, even besting some of them with the sword. A witch who had signed a deal with the devil, no doubt.

But now she had been subdued, her armor broken and cast aside, a grimace plastered across her grimy face as she struggled futilely to break the bonds holding her captive. While his forces stacked wood at her feet, the Demon roared with laughter as he relieved himself of his battle armor. He extended his sword outwards, touching the sharp blade against the fox-woman's exposed neck.

"Prepare yourself Turkey. I will rip your units apart one by one."

The leaders of Spain want me to drop everything to attack them, rather.

I just can't see how this is beneficial for them since they also attacked England, and Germany hasn't joined their attack on me. Nor has Venice. Are you really trying to attack England and France at the same time and expect a rousing success?

A public announcement to Poland:

Are you trying to insult both yourself and I?
For there is no greater shame to a warrior than surrender.
I have no intention whatsoever to become a pawn to your machinations. As a matter of fact, I cannot, for I have my own desires and aspirations I wish to fulfil. And I cannot fulfil them by serving under another.
Nor am I one that can be tamed and taught to perform according to its master's will.
No matter how crippled I am, no matter how bleak my situation looks, I fully intend to continue fighting until I draw my last breath.
You have been a powerful foe, and for that, I award you respect.
Now, let us continue our fight.

Until we meet once more on the field of battle,
Turkey.

I asked you to take Sweden, for one turn, to get my units in a better position. You cockblocked me in return.
And now, you tried to move to Silesia to be able to attack me directly?
I've never did an aggressive move against you so why try take me on all of a sudden...

Well, looks like it's game over for me. :V

I had a feeling you secretly allied yourself with germany, since you didn't talk to me :/.   Also you might have survived a bit longer if you took Burgundy and took Mar by force from there.  (if Germany hadn't moved his units that is)
Title: Re: Fall of the Medieval Age: Diplomacy Renaissance! Spring 1456
Post by: Bardiche on February 24, 2012, 04:59:01 PM
I talked with you. :V I specifically replied to your message of not invading Mar. Up until then I had only sent messages to Germany to not fight each other as there were bigger fish to fry, and you had said you wanted England taken care of! I see now it was a ploy to ally England into defeating me first.

You can't really accuse me of not communicating when I knew crystal clear what your plans were supposed to be and indicated I would assist in your endeavours and your response is to nail me. :V

It's totally fine anyhow. I did it to Schezo last game, you do it to me this game. Just goes to show I shouldn't trust people so readily. :V

What I did does not change the fact that you failed to achieve a decisive victory, despite having two allies to support you in your endeavours against the cute and innocent me.

But now, even if it won't be decisive I shall still attain victory with my camaraderie .

The fact that you need a second ally says a lot about your state of affairs, does it not?
And continue dreaming, boy. Even if you do manage to defeat me, can you really take pride in such a hollow victory?

What I did does not change the fact that you failed to achieve a decisive victory, despite having two allies to support you in your endeavours against the cute and innocent me.
All those poor Serbians beg to differ. ;-;

Call me whatever you want, but I intend to turn this world into a paradise. It matters not how much I must stain my hands, I shall bring peace to this world.
The current world is far too cruel. The current world and its current inhabitants, including myself, must be purged in order to make way for the future.
I left my comfortable life, threw away my innocence, and entered into this bloody conflict to turn my ideal into the new reality. And I will crush anyone who dares to get in my way.

I freed the Serbians from your inept rule and introduced new concepts to them. Those of freedom, of peace, of prosperity.
They flourished under my rule. They had entered a new era, one of unprecedented growth.
It was not long before they embraced my rule. It would seem as though it was infinitely better than yours.
But then, those that were jealous of their newfound success, the ones that I had not yet managed to show the light rebelled and launched a vicious attack against those that were once their own.
I deeply feel for those that were attacked by their own kind. You are the type of person that caused the decay in this current reality.
Those that would force their citizens to attack those that they once called their brethren. How is it that you can sleep comfortably at night?

Title: Re: Fall of the Medieval Age: Diplomacy Renaissance! Winter 1454
Post by: Conqueror on March 12, 2012, 09:46:30 PM

I knew this was just the precursor to an h-scene.

Funny enough, Turkey, France and me (in my point of view) were not lying in this game,
Since France and me are done, I call Turkey for not being scum

Unfortunately, I believe not in the power of love nor friendship, but in the power of mutual benefit. With the bottleneck that is Venice's last territory, I was no longer benefiting from our relationship and so I ended it in the most diplomatic manner possible.
There is also the fact that I promised all that time ago to destroy you. I am not one to go back on my word.

That's a given, but I meant more like how those two things will happen.

The first thing will happen through cunning deceit and shrewd trickery (or: blatant and open untrusthworthy conduct unbefitting a monarch), whereas the second will happen through repeated failures in correctly ascertaining the truth behind the motives of an untrusthworthy ally.

I mean the ideal Diplomacy play for me is talking to lots of people and gathering information and making alliances so we don't get stuck in a rut.

Dormio already sent in his moves (unlike most of you :\), and Spain cc'd by defaulting for two moves. Thus, unless Dormio decided to change up his moves for some stupid reason, the game would have ended no matter what.

So I would have had 5 SCs guaranteed this turn. Good to know.
The question on whether or not I could have gotten 6 will never be answered.
