Parsee Quest
« on: December 04, 2010, 11:40:07 PM »
> You are Mizuhashi Parsee.
> For a century or so, you've lived Former Hell (more commonly called the Underground by its inhabitants, including you) near the Ancient City.  You are known for your short temper, long, pointy ears, and tendency to attack travelers crossing your bridge.  You have the ability to manipulate jealousy, but you can't control it very well, and suffer from it the most as a result.
> Many winters ago, a shrine maiden went Underground on a rampage and beat you up.  You still don't know why she knew who you were, but it made you more cautious of outside visitors.
> It's late autumn right now, but it feels like winter.  A few months ago, Hell's moon disappeared entirely.  About a week after the moon's disappearance, there was a tremendous earthquake.  A lot of rocks fell in the passage leading to the surface world.  Many underground geysers were blocked, and the tunnel leading the next city collapsed entirely.  The Palace of the Earth Spirits took some damage, but for the most part remained unscathed.  Your bridge got a few holes in it, but you can just fly over them while they're getting patched up.  Strangely enough, aftershocks continued for the rest of that month, and now it's very quiet.  The Underground is still reeling a bit from the earthquake, but you all have been dealing with it well enough.
> Still, there are some things that just seem...strange.  For one thing, there is currently only one Deva in the city.  There was another one, but Yuugi told you that she left for the surface almost immediately after Hell's moon disappeared.
> The Hell of Blazing Fires has also been getting progressively colder.  For some reason, this gives you a really bad feeling.

> Right now, you're standing on the bridge.  The weather is cold and snowy.  You're feeling a little bit hungry, and note that the absence of Hell's moon is making the "sky" (more like the gapping ceiling) look a bit empty.

> What are our relationships with some of the other underground inhabitants?
> Have we had any visitors recently?

> Inventory:
  > Foreign-looking dress (currently worn)
  > Scarf (currently worn)

> Skills:
  > You're pretty good at danmaku and using spell cards (that shrine maiden can testify to this).  Your deck currently consists of Green Eyed Monster, Shiro's Ashes, Large Box and Small Box, and Midnight Anathema Ritual.
  > You can also induce jealousy.  The circumference of your influence varies from 10 to 20 meters.

> Relationships:
  > Your closest friend is Hoshiguma Yuugi.  Because you were so tempermental and violent when you first arrived Underground, it took a while for her to get close to you.  Nowadays, you don't know what you'd do without her.
     > By extension, you've met her friend Ibuki Suika once or twice.
  > You're acquainted with Kurodani Yamame and Kisume because the three of you are geographically close together.

> Yuugi visited last week to help with bridge repairs.

>Confirm whether or not everyone has died.

> Yuugi is alive.  She broke one of her arms during an aftershock, but it has healed since then.
> Yamame and Kisume are badly injured and are being treated at one of the clinics in the Ancient City.
> Everyone at the Palace of the Earth Spirits is alive as far as you can tell.

>confirm status of mental health

> You're feeling rather mellow and calm right now, but it probably won't be long before you start feeling antsy again.

> Quickly retrieve arms from bridge.

> You lost any weapons you had during the initial earthquake.

> What is the name of the Deva that left to the Surface?

> She never introduced herself properly, but you swear her name began with a "K" or something...

> Fly to the city.

> There's nothing to gain out of idling around all day, so you lift off the ground and take off.  When you arrive, you're greeted by the usual commotion of the huge, expansive city.  Oni are working on repairing buildings and removing rubble left over from the earthquake, and those on break from work are stumbling drunkly in the streets.  Vendors are on the sidewalks, shouting over one another and trying to sell their goods to other Youkai.  There's a dangerous-looking party going on in a nearby bar.  The Palace of the Earth Spirits is farther north.

> Rage.

> You kick the ground angrily.  Even your kitchen knives have been rendered unusuable!

> No money? Hmm...
> How much does an average meal cost in the Ancient City?

> You never leave the bridge and your main income involves beating up people and taking their money, so you're usually hard-pinched for cash.
> Meals usually cost ☼4.10, but over the past few months they've inflated to ☼5.74.

> You take a look towards the bar where the party is being held.  It's absolutely packed with people.  Over the din, you can hear the sounds of a violin, trumpet, and piano being played.
> Just then, a chair smashes through one of the bar's windows and hits a girl passing by in the process.  How Oni can enjoy wild parties like that, you will never know.

>Examine music to see if recognizable

>Look within the crowd of people to see if anyone stands out or find anyone recognizable

> The music doesn't seem familiar, but it's catchy and sounds good.

> You don't see anyone you know.

> Head over to the girl that got hit. If she fell over, help her up.
> "Hey, are you all right?"

> You make your way over to the fallen girl.  She's laying on her back and running a hand through her hair, as if trying to find a goosebump.  The ribbon in her hair is askew, and her eyes are a little unfocused.
> You hold out a hand to the girl, and she reaches out and takes it once she comes to her senses.
> "Ugh...thanks.  Man, those guys can throw," she grouses as you help her to her feet.  Her hand flutters over her head one more time before nodding.  "Yeah, I'm okay."
> She then leans over to pick up a large, bulky-looking bag lying nearby.

> What does this person look like?
> "That's good. Is this your first time in the Ancient City, by any chance?"

> She's wearing a red ribbon, a white blouse with rolled up sleeves, a red skirt, and red boots.  Her hair is white-blonde and her eyes are red.
> You ask her if she hasn't been to the Ancient City before today, and she lets out a sheepish laugh.  "Haha, I actually live here, but I've never been to this part of the city before.  I mean, I usually stay in the northwest section..."

>Try to catch a glimpse without looking suspicious in the heavy looking bag.

> You manage to glance into the bag without her noticing.  Rolled up bandages, labelled bottles, a towel...it honestly looks more like a first aid kit than anything else.

>Ask ribbon-tan what her name is

> "Me?  I'm Satsuki Rin."

> Rage again, but not as much.

> You inwardly rage over your lack of arms, and now you feel calmer.

So, from here, I think I can see three possible courses of action:

-- Go find Yuugi,
-- go to the Palace of the Earth Spirits and ask if Utsuho is maintaining the reactor properly (maybe that's why it's cold), or
-- ask Rin if Yamame/Kisume are there and, if so, follow her there.

Thoughts?

Asking Rin, we can do right now. I'd argue hooking up with Yuugi next just for protection's sake and conciliatory snuggles. The palace can be next.

>"Hey, do you have an earth spider or a tsurube-otoshi in your clinic?"
