Title: A DeviantArt Story, or: How I'm killing the fandom
Post by: Quad City QBs on August 12, 2009, 12:23:26 AM
So yesterday I get this PM on Deviantart:

Quote from: Pani-Poni-Tenshi on devianTART
Dude, can't you draw anything else than this bondage shit?
Serioulsy, the reason why your so popular is because creepy guys, living in their parents basements fap to your shit and it's not just you, alot of people get popular by drawing porn.
As an art student myself, I think it time you should start drawing other things than the same bondage crap over and over again. Its not good for you. Try drawing your characters in other themes, and it can be any theme other than lolis getting tired up and raped by stickmen (i'm not really fond of bondage, but still, you do too much). I'm sure you have the talent to do that and alot of people will really appericate it. I am not trying to hurt you in anyway, in case you my take this the wrong way, nut I'm just sick of people who gain popularirty through by just drawing one and one thing only, sex.
By the way as a Touhou and Sola fan myself, stop ruining it for us. Please? Just stop it.

~Aothesis

(tl;dr: raeg ~Aothesis)

And I'm about to shoot off a "lol u mad," but then I think better of it--why not have some fun?

Quote from: me
Okay, you caught me. I don't really tell people this, but you've been honest with me and I appreciate that--it goes without saying that I'd prefer if you didn't spread the following around!

In reality, I hate Touhou, Sola and all that other moe shit. It all started when the artists on this stickman art forum I used to run had what they called a "moe revolt." The situation got out of hand pretty quick and in the end I had to resign my adminship in disgust. Ended up giving it to my best mod, guy named Randall (you may have heard of him, he went into webcomics.)

Anyway, since then I've resolved to learn this moe style and twist it into something perverted and, well, totally contradictory to this protecting-innocence idea it's supposed to represent, right. It's my way of throwing the ugliness of the moe fandom back in its own face.

So yeah, that's how it is. You can call it petty or self-destructive if you want, but it's my fight, and I hope you'll at least understand where I'm coming from.

~Maullar

That should square things away pretty neatly, right--either he gets even more indignant and I have a laugh, or he never talks to me again.  But then...

Quote from: Pani-Poni-Tenshi on devianTART
Wow... I mean, wow...
Thats pretty messed up.
No... I mean your messed up (pardon my language). And here I thought you was a hardcore touhou fan among all fans thats grabbing attention to your self with all this bondage shit.
What you said is just... Awesome...!
Dude, at first I resented you, alot, for abusing the art in general to grab all the fans. Just like dicks such as HitmanN, etc. Now your just someone else.
I too am not all that into moe, as you can see from my art I have create my very own style thats the complete opposite of moe (http://pani-poni-tenshi.deviantart.com/art/Obscurum-Elisha-Casual-109191121) (I've been busy with college and now moving on to uni, so I didn't do much recently), but I digress.
What I trying to say is, if what you say is true, then I really resect you now! Honestly, I do!
We should talk more often. It's not everyday I get to talk to strange and interesting people like youself.
Hey, we can even do an art trade or even joint comic projects. Would do you say?

~Aothesis

(link mine)

Well then.  Would do I say?

Commit deicide. That always works. always

But, seriously though. Like I said on IRC. I have no ideas on what to do aside from a over-the-top well-woven web of bullshit. Which you prolly' don't want to put effort into. :x

Oh ho ho ho hell yes. This is great.

Pick one or more:

-Said about your journey of making a new account every week and post all these  bondage stuff till the point the forum lock the registration...still waiting the chance for them to not delete the art and call the police on them to shut them down.

-You got really tire of drawing bondage and want his opinion on what good and creepy shit to draw.

-Said you actually slowly started to like touhou the more you research about it and ask his opinion about touhou.

Suicide would be illogical at this point and would make him lose respect for you.

I'd go with the "your art is too moe" part, considering that she's actually trying to look attractive. Doyero is the antimoe. Well, except maybe his Cirno.

Maullar, just keep drawing whatever you are good at, and something else, if it is experimentation you want, drawing not naked loli bondage for once may help.

Also, here is a thing: YOU JUST ATTRACTED A FURRY, HURRY, BURN THAT PM.

Alternately, consider statting up your fandom murder. Project to this person how many HP and what the defense and dodge rates of the fandom are; then tell him how much damage you think each of your works are doing. Try to draw him into a mechanics argument.

In addition to having an entire Index of Tropes named after him, along with half the tropes in said index, he's also the poser boy for the "Clasp Your Hands if You Deceive." Trope just from that picture. Legendary Indeed.

Thanks for your understanding.  It's been a great comfort in this private 'war' of artistic meaning.

Speaking of which, I've carefully weighed your offer of a trade or collaboration.  Your resources and talents cannot be ignored; meeting you may just have been the watershed I've been looking for!

Therefore, I propose our joint effort in a 'Fan-imated' movie feature about a maid who must obtain seven million yen within 20 minutes in order to save her mistress's life.  I further propose said Feature is shot using rotoscoped actors (teenage girls will be preferable as their bodily dimensions etc most closely approximate the 'MOE' style you and I choose to emulate) with CG effects and characters added in post production.  Said Feature will furthermore be shot on location in the mountains of Kansas, United States of America where during my boyhood my true 'stickman' style was first inspired by the cave paintings.  Finally at story's climax the main character will turn to the camera and directly admonish the Audience as in eponymous 2008 classic "Wanted."  THUS will my Purpose be accomplished.

I imagine you are taken somewhat aback at the scale of my Proposal for our mutual Co-Operation and rightly so.  However i am under NO illusions as to the requisite effort for such an undertaking and have entered into talks with Iori 'EaZZy' E And The Ass Maidens regarding aforementioned Feature's theme song.  Their demo is pleasing to the ear and I will send you a Digitized copy post haste as soon as I get Scansoft working.

Once again thank you and god speed.

Clayton, I am suprised.

And here I thought this would turn out to be a simple art trade or a random touhou comic collaboration, but this? You really want me to work on this project with you...?
I would be most greatful to work on this project with you. I never really knew I was that great (my Da need to be update to my current level of skill, some of the stuff in my gallery could do with a hell alot of work), but if you say so then I am most pleased. This would be a great boost of work experince for my Freelancing career for when start uni.
As for the porposal itself, I think it a brillent idea in using the "rotoscoped" style and MOE-style characters. The story itself is good and I feel it really worth taking a shot at this together!
Although there are a few questions I would like to bring up.
First, since I will have some involvement in this project, what position will I be taking up?
Also, whats the numbe rof staff you have working on this project so far?
I didn't mean to bring this up so sudden but I'm damn curious at times like this.
About the soundtrack, I most looking forward to listening the following soundtrack(s) that you will be sending me.

Thank you are allowing me to work on this project with you.

Looking forward to hear form you soon.

It's quite encouraging to hear of your interest.  Unfortunately I cannot proffer a fixed named 'Position' as I am an adherent of the THREE 6 SIGMA management school which proscribes no hierarchies or other such Conceits between men.  For the same reason I am unable to furnish a concrete 'estimate' of the number of people involved with our Under-Taking for is not every man to some degree tacitly involved in the symbolic "Dialogue" of which this Feature is a part?

Sadly progress on the soundtrack is hindered as Iori 'EaZZy' E is currently in litigation with the Ass Maidens.  However, as promised I have managed to Digitize a sample for (I am sure) your satisfaction.  It may be listened to at the following URL, http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S71HQ4AO

I will further update you once I hear back from my story board artists.  Unfortunately principal photography is also having setbacks as my rotoscoping software is rendering the actors as talking animals.  I am currently experimenting with the use of makeup to force the program to animate to MY needs.

I've downloaded the soundtrack from the link you gave, but there a slight problem.
Whatever program you've used to export the MP3, says that you need register the program to do so and all I get is a message about registering to software. Therefore I have failed to listen to the soundtrack. So I think it's best if you find an alternative way to export the MP3,send me the original file and recomend a software needed to listen to the soundtrack or ask Iori himself to export the MP3 for you and send it to me. Use whatever method that suits you best.

Too bad to hear about set back in retroscoping, but don't worry, I'm sure we all can pull through this! There were bound to be problems along the way, it's just getting around that thats the main issue. Things will turn out fine.

I hope the retroscoping goes well for you and I really do look forward to listening to the soundtrack once you fix this minor problem. I'm also looking forward to about update after you hear from the storyboard artists.

Hey Clayton, I just wriing to see how the progress of the project is going along and I would like to ask if there is anything that I'm suppose to be doing while the storyboard artists are working on their behalf. Well since this is a joint project we are untaking, I was just wondering if there anything that I'm suppose to get on with while you guy work.
I am willing to start anytime now.

Hope to hear from you soon

This was a while ago.  I'd been traveling and moving, so I couldn't reply, but now it's time to close things up.

Dear Friend,

Sorry for my long lapse in communication.  I've been working on principal photography in Kansas--at least, nominally.

You see, I was able to circumvent the talking-animal issue with my rotoscoping software by switching to a black-market Chinese program.  However, said program is set to draw all busts one size smaller, thus allowing older actresses to portray children (you may recall the converse scenario at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.)

Of course, to preserve the 'Vision' of the Project I would have to somehow compensate for the reduction.  A Mohican witch doctor supplied me with a remedy that ultimately caused my lead actress REDACTED's breasts to turn what she has described in her legal complaint against me as a 'taco color.'

It goes without saying that I have countersued Ms. REDACTED in addition to my makeup artist, gaffer, fluffer, the Ass Maidens and my chief investor.  I also attempted to sue the aforementioned Mohican witch doctor, only to be informed the quack had shifted to wolf form to evade me.  When I tracked down said wolf, I was UNLAWFULLY arrested by Park Services before I could serve the complaint upon him.  I am of course bringing legal action against Park Services as well.

My attorney Teren D. Jones (B.A. Anthropology 2011, DeVry University Online) has advised me to halt all work on the Project for the time being.  Production will resume as soon as all legal matters are settled; Atty. Jones says my case is "definitely a slam dunk," so you shouldn't have to wait for long!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was, in all honesty. Though either way, it's still kinda amusing. :V

And then we laugh.

I think you need to dial it back a little, Maullar. The thing about the lead's breasts is starting to veer this story into absurd territory. Bring it down a bit to something more believable, if you're not already being countertrolled.

This is pretty funny stuff, though, I have to say.

So, what exactly did his artwork look like anyways? Wayback Machine usually does not archive pictures ya know.

Dear Clayton,

Sounds strange of what happened so far, but I do hope the case goes well for you. I am also happy to hear the the project is progressing well.

I'm still concerned with what contribution will I be putting towards the project, It's been a while since the project was off the ground I havn't really don't anything. I would really apericate it if I can begin my input towards the project, thanks!

One more thing, you should of got this message way too long ago, but I wasn't able to listen to the sample soundtrack you sent me and I'am still wait for the problem to be fix so I can finally be able to play it. It would be great if you can fix the problem as soon as possiable, thank you.

I really look forward to the wait being over!

MaullarMaullar!

What this?!
[link] (http://maullar.wordpress.com/)

Is this some kind of fucking joke?
Are you really trolling me?
Why are you documenting all this?
Why are you even doing this?

Just because I gave you my own personal opinion about your work, dosen't mean you could go all that way to make an ass of me.
Seriously!
What have I done to make you do this?
Nothing! All I did was give a simple critque which I hope you could pick up on.
No instead of taking my advice like most normal artist do, you go and troll me for your amusement and others. I just find this completely retarded. And out all DA-artist and touhou fan I spoke with, you have to troll me. And here I though you was better than this.

Well, in the end, yeah, you got me. I fell for it, it's my fault for believing such crap. Still, it was rather pointless and time wasting do you think. I though you was a pretty decent guy at one point, even if the only thing you could ever draw is bondage crap and mock touhou project which your "so-called" comics (I have read them all, and there not that great, trust me), but now I know for sure.
But then again, why would you go all this way just to troll me, why?
So much for freedom of speech, people do really bitch about other peoples opinions. I had few devaints having a go me because of that. And you havn't seem to take it very well either. Shame on that.

Well, hope this "e-drama" i've been displaying has amused you long enough, because you did was waste my time as I'll be moving out to university in a couple of weeks and I'll be packing up pretty soon. Would have personal sugested you took my advice and start expressing yourself further by drawing other things like urban landscapes, still life or even life drawing. But then again, I'm an budding illustrator that about to atended to and art-related university and your not really much you an artist. All you draw is existing animu girls tried up in ropes. I know I'm being blunt here but it's the truth.
But hey, we can still art trade if your willing to? Discuss Touhou project or anything?

Well, I leave it to you now, it's been nice being a victim of your trolling experince and if I could, I would wish to have all the time back that I you made me waste.

Take my advice, Albert Wang, you'll need it.

I said this before but...thank you for this entertaining read, and remind me to never, ever believe what you say.

Also, if he is gonna try to counter troll after this...what is he gonna do? Extend an offer of his own? Lousy, too obvious.

try to use this as fodder against some mods. They are more likely to laugh at him and ban him from the internets.

Try to say "Hahah, the joke is on you good fellow, for you see, I have been guiding you along all this time. I am the true troll here."?

...

...

lolno, let us just add "pathetic" to the list of "gullible, stupid and irritating."

But that's just my two cents...shit, now I am two cents short of a soda pop.
