Comments for Smite! Clang! Bang! A front page has been forged! (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/2012/12/15/smite-clang-bang-a-front-page-has-been-forged/)

Well this is very cool.
I like that you decided with a conversational narrative for talking about what the boards are for; the descriptions give the basics, but this detail is welcome. The links and such are well-organized, too. Here's hoping this will provide more information for brand new users.
-
I'm currently going through this subforum and moving articles to the frontpage to try to make things a bit more lively. Comments will still end up here on the forums, and if you want to post an article you can still make a thread here and if we approve it we will put it on the frontpage.
-
Awwwwwesoooome.
I take it there will be auditions for the article writers, or can anyone contribute as long as it isn't spammy?
-
I'm limiting full writer access to the frontpage to staff only, the BunBunMaru people. Anyone can still submit an article. When you make a new thread in this subforum, they end up in an approval queue. If we like it we will either publish it as is or with minor modifications. Only staff members can post articles directly though without approval.
If we accept a member submission, it'll show up on the front page as authored by Keine with the proper credit given.
Comment threads will still live here, so we don't worry about maintaining two comment systems. Eventually this will all be automated in some fashion (with Keine being the bot poster just like she's the IRC bot).

Gotcha!

Good work.
Just twelve hours ago I was wondering, if the domain consisted only of the boards, why did it need a /forum in it's URL. Now I know. Hilarious in hindsight for me.
-
Pretty nice seeing some progress on the site. Good job.
Do you think you can align and homogenize the style between the forums and the wordpress?
You could also change the header of the forums so that there is a link to the frontpage.
-
RIP sariteru ;_;
-
Holy shit it finally happened :o
-
I had completely forgotten that this was a thing that was going to happen.
The page looks too polished to be true :O
The wordpress login was confusing though, thought I had logged out of the forum or something.
e: Is there any easy way to get back to the front page once you've gone into the forum?
-
Working on that, forgot to put a frontpage link in the forums.
-
Thanks for the linkage on the side ;) that means a lot

With my awesome English writing skills, I tried to make the best out of it. Perhaps I had CTRL + A -> Del / adjusted the article several times until I was satisfied with the result. My main goal was to make it informative and as basic as possible. Like it was mentioned above, the information had to be crystal clear for new users, and not existing/experienced surfers.
Hope you enjoyed reading it and hopefully the new users will be fired up to partake in the community.

I opened the site and literally jumped when the front page was there. Holy carp.
But it is quite schweet! A good intro guide too.
There's no link to the guidelines though, and one can't go back from the forum to the front page either. Or maybe I just missed them?
All the same, great work!

I thought scarlet-library was for gaming?
HAVE I BEEN WRONG ALL THESE MONTHS?

Good job, it looks great!

HAVE I BEEN WRONG ALL THESE MONTHS?
Yes.
(Though folks do talk about games pretty often in there if not only because there's a lot of general talk that goes on there, its main purpose is for discussing writing and fiction.)

Not a lot of people might say this, but I really like your writing style. I know this mainpage project has been on the rags for a while, and it's cool to see you in there.

Well done on the new page. :)
Bit interesting to see TGTA being pointed out as a specific example of a mod on Rika's. Chances are that people wanting that will end up finding either my or Squid's mod compilations, so I guess it's time to really push the update pace. :V
-
Nice job if the new page but where is the Facebook like button? =o

Ah sweet! It really looks good! And I scroll down the page to...

I agree. +1

and yet there's a reddit share button :V
-
I didn't even take notice of it until a moment ago. My bookmark to this site directs me to the forums by default. :V
Anyway, nice job!

I was wondering why the URL was always /forum.
Quite snazzy indeed!
