If you're doing KK3, you may as well do 1 and 2 as well, for completion's sake.I'd be glad to - in fact a quick cursory look through KK2's files show they use the exact same "protection" as KK3. KK1 probably does the same thing too. Some image editing work and a tiny bit of hex editor manipulations aside, it'd really just be a matter of translating what the text says into english. Unfortunately I can't do the actual translating (my japanese is limited at best... >_>) so work on those two other games will also depend on if others want to lend their help with them as well. ;)

Tengu have been training to scale the walls here to learn new techniques. You should do the same, Momiji. Practice wall-jumping and you might learn a new technique.

I feel there are some ores there as well. You can visit me at the workshop later with the ores you've collected and money, and I'll upgrade your gear for you.

Just jumping off the walls won't get you anywhere here. Looks like you'll have to plan jumps from the opposite walls as well.
As far as I know, there should be an arcane book describing a secret technique at the top. Try and go for it, it should be valuable.
Again, it seems there's some ore up there as well, so visit me at the workshop later. Of course, you'll need to bring me money as well - life isn't that easy.

Judging by kappa reports, the keys are hidden somewhere over there inside rocks. They also report there are also strong youkai sealed there.
Some of them were released by my fellow kappas, it seems, but other seals were too strong for them. They really didn't help us here.
This magatama-shaped [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magatama] sensor will inform you about the seal status. Once it makes a good sound, you can proceed to the exit.
I know this may sound like a pain to do, but this is a good training to improve your skills, so do your best.

If you learn this technique, you'll be able to fight in mid-air.
You really should get that manual.
You'll have to go through another round of hard wall-climbing, but this technique will simplify battles a lot, so I want you to be patient and keep trying.
But don't worry, you can do it, Momiji. See, just kick the wall when you approach it to jump back.
I think there are other technique manuals hidden around Gensokyo. You should try and find them, they can increase your strength.

Edit: I think I've found a bug of some sort. I beat stage 1-1, stage 1-2, skipped Nitori, beat Luna, stage 1-3... and found myself fighting Luna again rather than Star. The stage wasn't complete after I defeated her, either. After beating Nitori's mini-stage however, Star showed up and everything went the way it was supposed to. I guess the Nitori mini-stages are mandatory after all...? Seems like a bug TBH - the same dialog comes up so if this is intentional it's handled just plain oddly.Judging by the files you've uploaded, you're using game version 1.00 (I've noticed a typo in Japanese text that was fixed in 1.01).

Yeah, um, problem. I install the patch like the readme says, but it spits out these errors when I try to play.Are there different versions of the game? The version I have is 1.01; if you have a different version there could be some incompatibilities between the files (even though the exe itself is 1.01 in your case too, apparently). Shouldn't be hard to fix once I know which patch/version's being affected.

EDIT: Welp, it's still in Japanese. Maybe you didn't pack the scene file right or something?I just patched the game from scratch and it worked fine. Are you sure you're replacing the files correctly? You should be overwriting everything in the "data_b" folder and the executable and "scene.dat" in the main game folder. The original game should be version 1.01 (only the translated files are distributed - there's a lot more to the game than just what's in the patch, obviously, which means that if your files are from a different version problems may come up even though you're replacing the exe).
....Just to be sure I didn't fuck up somewhere along the line, Dai Ni Maku is KK2, right?Yep.
I can run it just fine when I don't transfer the scene file over though. It's only when I do that it breaks.The scene file contains the path of the files making up the game. Only one filename was changed in order to avoid having to use applocal (there's some weird 'x' in one of the filenames that's in Shift-JIS). Not using the scene file I've provided in the patch only means that you'll need to use applocal to start up the game or it'll give a non-fatal error message when stages start telling you it can't find one of the images before proceeding anyway. The translation would still be in place as it has nothing to do with that file and you've replaced the images that contained the original japanese text - the game has nowhere to load it from anymore.
Uh, mine's actually pretty big compared to that. Is the one in the game folder itself supposed to be a whopping 364,513,795 bytes?Um... no. No, it is not. :o

Now that I've reached 1000 grazes, Extra Stage 2 is unlocked.
I do have a question about the stats though. I'm aware --STR ups ATK & HP-- --STA ups HP & DEF-- --SPR ups SP & MDEF-- But what exactly does SKL upgrade? Aside from the small SP boost. My guess was that it decreases the cost of skills or makes them more powerful, but does anyone know for sure?I'm not 100% certain of this but I believe the instructions say it also affects your SP recovery rate. I've played a Momiji with maxed out SPR and SKL (good lord what a chore...) but saw little improvement despite that. It does seem to tie into skill damage somewhat though.
Also, Luck. I'm just assuming on this one as well. I think it increases the amount of money & exp gained. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks~It increases your critical hit rate but the increase isn't very big. It makes a pretty noticeable difference when maxed out but you need to put at least 10-15 points into it to see much of an improvement, unlike the other stats. Maxing out STR and LUK will make your physical attacks very powerful, though you'll have very few points left to spend on anything else. Being able to do critical hits will really speed up the "extra" extra boss battle though - your only other option is to mass-harvest ores and boost your ATK through the roof, or fight a very long fight. :P
I do have a question about the stats though.
ATTACK
Mainly increases your attack power. Also raises your HP a bit.
DEFENSE
Increases your HP. Also, each point of defense increases your physical resistance by a fixed amount.
This stat also affects the amount of health you gain from all items that restore health.
SPIRIT
Increases your SP. Also, each point of defense increases your danmaku resistance by a fixed amount.
This stat also affects the amount of spirit you gain from all items that restore spirit as well as increasing your natural SP regeneration rate.
SKILL
Mostly increases the damage you do with skills and spells, but also increases your SP a bit.
Investing in this stat will also extend the chain limit window, allowing you to score longer combos.
LUCK
Increases your chance to land a critical strike (which deals 2x damage).
This stat also affects the value of Ex pickups and coins you get from lanterns and rocks, as well as the amount of money from money bags.
One tiny issue though... "Unexpected end archive". When I open the Winrar (the KK1e) I get that message. When I extract, or attempt to, I get a message saying "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged". Any way to solve the issue?
Yeah, problem. It still keeps spitting out that whole 'Unexpected end of archive' thing for me.I've retested the download and it works fine on my end; have you tried redownloading it? The download may've failed for some unexpected reason the first time around.
I'm having trouble extracting the .rar parts from the first game. 7-zip mentions data errors when I try to to so, and winrar gives similar errors.I have redownloaded all 10 files and had no problems. Have you tried redownloading the specific files winrar bugs out on (ex, KK1e.part06.rar)? The host I have can be glitchy with downloads at times, which is why I had the files split up. I can confirm that what's on the site is 100% correct.
I have no problems with extracting the translation parts of the other games.
We should go back to translating these games on of these days.

I'm all for that; working with you was pretty awesome (and fast :) ) and there are still plenty of games by GC without a translation. Granted, I'm a little busy these days (pre-holiday rush) but once the holidays are over, if you're interested, we could make plans for an other translation.
