>Get a move on down to the kitchen, then, 'fore it all dissapears.

>You leave the room and head towards the kitchen, from which you can hear both the sounds of conversation and food frying.
>Looking inside, you see three people sitting at the table: a boy of around 10, a girl who's probably barely 6, and another girl in her early teens. The latter you recognize, although she was quite a bit smaller when last you saw her. Ichirin herself is working over the stove. As you enter, she scoops up a pancake from the frying pan onto a plate, then places it on the table in front of the youngest, smiling as she does so. "Here you go, dear." The girl eyes the meal with an even wider smile.
>"Oh, good morning, Nazrin," Ichirin says, looking in your direction.
>"Good morning!" the youngest repeats through the pancake in her mouth.
>Ichrin gives her a chastening frown. "You shouldn't talk with your mouth full."
>"Morning," the oldest nods.

on another note guys. As much i like to see "grumpy face" beaten up. Judging by how things are, chances are he just going try and make that an excuse to place every bit blame for everything on naz. thought of course the verbal ass kicking should definitely be primed.

> Take a seat if one can be found.

>You return the greetings and pull up a chair. It's a little cramped, but there's still room for you. The youngest keeps stealing curious glances at you when she thinks you aren't looking. The boy looks somewhat warier of you. The oldest pays you little mind as she polishes off the last of her cereal.
>"Would you like me to get you something?" Ichirin asks. "Another omelet? Pancakes, maybe? There's some ham left, too, if you'd like."

> "I'll take an omelet please."

>"Of course," Ichirin says, moving back over to the pantry.
>"How late did you get here last night?" she asks as she fetches the eggs. "I didn't think you'd be coming after I'd heard you'd gone back to Braston yesterday."

>Ichrin nods. "Oh, good. She's fairly dependable, but you know how fairies are sometimes."
>"Fairies are silly," the little one chimes in.
>"So I take it you did what you set off to do?" Ichirin asks, starting to beat the eggs.

>Ichirin turns to you, looking somewhat taken aback. "What?"
>"I thought everyone was saying it was some sorta wild youkai with big claws?" the older girl says.
>"That's what he said, yes," Ichirin says, giving you an intent stare.

>Ichirin nods slowly. "That is curious." Something about her expression seems vaguely... uncomfortable?
>"In any case, I fetched new water for Haruko's horse this morning," she continues, turning back to the omelet. "Are you finished with it for now? I would have returned it to her, but I wanted to check first."

>"He is, isn't he?" she says.
>"Well, I'm done," the older girl says, standing up and bringing her bowl over the sink. "See ya later, Nazrin." And with that, she ducks out of the kitchen.
>"Bye," the little one waves after her.
>"In any case," Ichirin says, "I can take him back to Haruko later, if you don't know where she lives."

While it's on my mind...

>Do Humans have a distinctive scent that differentiates them from other species? Or do we even have the capactiy to gauge 'Oni scent', 'Human scent', that sort of thing?

>There are some general differences, yes, though you imagine scent varies among youkai as much as youkai themselves do. You certainly wouldn't be able to conclusively peg something you weren't familiar with.

>You glance at the kids around the table, and then tell Ichirin that the topic can wait. She seems to notice the gesture, and frowns ever so slightly. "Alright, then."
>Shortly thereafter, she serves up the omelet along with a glass of orange juice and puts it on the table in front of you. "Here you go."
>Then she has a seat at the table, across from you.

>Dine, and wait for the kids to clear out.

>You chow down on breakfast. It's a good thing to wake up to. As you much, you're kinda forced to admit to yourself that you haven't been doing as well at the breakfast thing since you moved out on your own. The meal is peppered with idle conversation. The younger girl, whose name turns out to be Michiko, cheerfully pipes up with her opinion when she sees an opening. She seems to have a very bright and unguarded personality. The boy is much more reticent; you actually get the impression he doesn't like you much, although it's subtle. He excuses himself the moment he finishes eating, with little more remark than that. Eventually, Michiko finishes up her pancake and Ichirin sends her on her way. It's just the two of you, now.

>"So," Ichirin says, a serious expression on her face, "what was it you wanted to talk to me about?"
