Whoops, never mind, I interpreted things too literally.

> Between hiccups, she says, "...M-my e-e-extending arm...I-I finally rebuilt it...the river...I-I already lost m-my backpaaack..."  She dissolves into sobs again, and Hina puts an arm around her shoulders.

> You glance around to see if Utsuho is here.  It's so packed that it's hard to tell, though...You don't think she's out front, at least.

>"That's rough. Hey, I'll talk to you on the way out."
>Follow Sanae into the shrine.

> Walk up to Yasaka. "Hey, I see that you got a lotta birds 'round here now. So why didja take Satori's without asking her?"

Actually, we should wait a bit before confronting Yasaka. Gather our nerves, yanno?

> The interior of the shrine is pretty nice and clean, although there's some clutter here and there: a few bulky magazines, a strange flat device with a pair of cords coming out of it...Kogasa picks one of the magazines off the floor and starts to idly leaf through it.
> Sanae has tucked Suwako into a futon in another room, and has set next to her what is frankly the most terrifying hat you've ever seen in your life.  It's a tall, wide-brimmed brown hat with a pair of goggly eyes on top.

> "I don't know..."  Sanae glances around the house.  "If she were in the house I would've heard her.  Maybe she's in the back yard?"
> "Also, Pyonta-kun is a gentlemen hat!"

>"Let's go check the backyard. We need to make sure things are good for Satori. Hey, speaking of Satori, what'd you do with all the snakes there, anyways?"

> "Oh, those all started to leave the Palace after a few hours," Sanae says as she starts towards the backyard.  "I find them under the porch sometimes!  I think they hide there in their free time."

> ...No comment.  What does this girl do in her spare time?
> You follow Sanae out to the back of the house.  The backyard is a well-kept clearing surrounded by trees.  There's a small pond out there that's been frozen by the cold.
> You see Utsuho standing in the center of the yard with her arms outstretched.  She's still wearing the cape, arm cannon, and concrete shoe.  Her back is to you, so she doesn't notice you or Sanae.  In fact, she's completely distracted by the danmaku she summons every few seconds.  One stream is in a column of fire, and she calls out, "Onabashiraaa~"  Another stream looks like eyes, then fireworks, then bubbles.  She giggles.

> "Oi, Utsuho! Whaddya doin'?"

> "Oi, Utsuho! Whaddya doin'?"

> Utsuho squeals and jumps, startled.  The danmaku around her bursts into sparks and disappears.  When she wheels around to face you, you notice that the gem on her chest is really glowing.
> "I'm making danmaku!  I wanted to show everyone out front how cool it was but then they all got scared and snake lady said not to do it in the middle of a crowd--oh yeah!  Snake lady finally came to visit me!"

> "That's great, but why're you up here? Satori's worried, 'cause you left without telling her."

> "That's great, but why're you up here? Satori's worried, 'cause you left without telling her."

> "When snake lady visited me, she asked me if I wanted to go the surface."  Utsuho then feigns a voice that sounds nothing like Yasaka's.  "She said, 'you are destined for great things, here's your chance to defeat a threat to Gensokyo itseeeelf!'"  She pauses, looking confused.  "...Or something.  Ah.  Tell Satori-sama?"

>"Think maybe you could skip home for supper?"

[Sect]

> Frown. "Why should I clear up your messes? Satori's worried sick, and mad at 'snake-lady' because you left without even saying goodbye."

>Observe how amusing this circus-like place looks now with all those people.

>"Think maybe you could skip home for supper?"

> "No!  Not yet!  I haven't shot down the moon yet!" Utsuho cries.  "Snake lady said she'd give me more power so I could do it, and I'm still charging!  No!"  She shoots out some danmaku in anger, but it flies harmlessly into the air and dissipates.

> Frown. "Why should I clear up your messes? Satori's worried sick, and mad at 'snake-lady' because you left without even saying goodbye."

> "It's fine!  We can just tell her where I am."  She seems more calm now.  Smiling, even.  "And I've never been to the surface before in my life; this is really cool!"

>Observe how amusing this circus-like place looks now with all those people.

> Heh heh heh.

>"Blow up the moon...."
>Wait, she can't do that!

> And even if blowing up Hell's Moon was okay, she'd probably shoot too hard and end up blowing up the surface moon too.
