Hey, I like to travel light.

Nah, 's cool. I'm sure you have plenty of lovely bones piles elsewhere. (If not yet, then someday!) :3

Wood nymphs will now be killed on sight if at all possible.

I left a pretty hefty one below Minetown. Maybe you'll be the first to desecrate my grave!

Kay so Dusty is trying to get me into this.

It seems ridiculously hard :ohdear:

Learning the controls is kind of hard at first, but after that it's trial, error, experiments, and so on.

In other words, yeah it's a hard game, but there's so much depth to it that it puts a lot of more modern games to shame, imo :P

Okay i've managed to get killed in Minetown twice. Angering the Guards accidentally is not fun considering the captain is pretty strong.

All the non Captain ones where pretty easy to beat though. I likely wouldn't have died or angered them if I had a Blindfold. I angered them when hunting down a Nymph that stole my Armor.

Ha, I made the same mistake, right before you went there. I went down there to test out my lightning rod, and mistook "G" to mean "goblin" instead of "gnome". So I started zapping folks left and right. Then I started seeing "The gnome lord hits!" and such and was like "This can't be good ..."

Also: As I said in IRC, I really believe a NetHack or DCSS tournament would be a great idea for an ID/IM challenge. Or just because.

If you decide to aggravate the watch captain on purpose on a future playthrough, and have a bullwhip, try using it to steal his weapon. It's got a 50% chance of being a silver saber, which is nice.

And the other 50%? Rusted Kitchen Knife or sumthin :V

This game is sounding more intresting by the hour. So I know now, what is the appeal, what's the difficulty/what makes it difficult at first, etc. Also, wtf is up with those floating eyes? I checked the page on them, and... O.o, wat. That isn't even fair... at all. Also, is the luck drop if YOU are blind, or if IT is blind?

I watched Rikter kill a floating eye by throwing ... his sword? ... at it. Range weaponry is really important sometimes, especially if it's to knock some damage into a strong creature approaching you. And you can apparently throw anything.

Please, when you're done playing NetHack, press q and quit out properly, don't just close your terminal.  It's leaving stale processes behind that eat enormous amounts of CPU time.

I WILL be periodically killing orphaned processes and if your game save gets corrupted because you didn't exit right it's your fault.

Triela's giving out the good stuff tonight. (I actually forgot that that was the same run I got a magic marker. And knew which scroll was Identify. I seriously wrote 3 ID scrolls the second I found that because I'd found a lot of blank ones so I didn't even have to blank something that could have been good.)

No, that is not a mistake in my weapons list. I found an artifact ON THE FIRST FLOOR.

Spoiler:
Or maybe it was the second.

<ArashiKurobara> I was walking around waiting for power to uncurse the ring
<ArashiKurobara> which I only put on because I cast remove curse twice before deciding "maybe it needs to be equipped"
<ArashiKurobara> And then the damn ring is what killed me. :V
<Matsuri-Sunrise> What kind of ring was it?
<Matsuri-Sunrise> I've never seen effects like that
<ArashiKurobara> polymorph
<Matsuri-Sunrise> Ah.
<ArashiKurobara> so yeah that run was kinda meh but amusing actual death :V

I'm not sure how to deal with occasions when the game utterly freezes on me. It's very rare, but it will happen - as it did last night - that everything just seizes up on the terminal, and no input from the keys changes anything, even after waiting a long time between attempts. When it froze, I killed the telnet process on my end, but this apparently still left processes running on the server, which I'd of course like to avoid. Any ideas would be welcome.
