Title: Ask a Staffer Ep. 6 - Purvis
Post by: Hello Purvis on March 23, 2011, 09:55:11 AM
(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Why hello there! Yes, it's time for yet another round of asking me questions to help expand your understanding of the world. You'll notice, however, that the mobile clinic is not here. This would be because I shall not be seeing patients at this time, and not because the clutch has rusted out. But related to this, I would like to introduce my newly obtained assistant I won in a poker game up in the Missouri railyards.

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) Viddy up, my droog. We'll have a clutchy-wutch right on the way! Don't mind the krovvy stains on it, I hope you won't.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png)Lovely! But in particular, we are fishing for staffer questions. Others will be entertained, but do try not to be offended if I am not free with normally harmless personal details. I am a private person in a lot of respects. But this said, go to it! The worst I can say is no. Oh, and try not to get too close to my nurse. She has a problem with not shanking people.

With all the unrest currently in the Middle East, aren't you worried about it spreading through your city centrally located country?
Do you subscribe to any conspiracy theories?  Is there one in particular that is so outlandish that it just tickles you pink to think about it?
What got you started volunteering on election days?  Do you volunteer on election campaigns as well?
Why am I your favorite?
Do you do any writing outside of your games?

With all the unrest currently in the Middle East, aren't you worried about it spreading through your city centrally located country?

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) Heheh, the only thing that'll get the chelloveks in Neohio in the streets causing unrest is marchin' to get rid of that dang "illegals". If their prejudices ain't involved in right-wing causes, they're too appy-thetic on the whole.

Do you subscribe to any conspiracy theories?  Is there one in particular that is so outlandish that it just tickles you pink to think about it?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) To be honest, I find The Bush Administration Let 9/11 Happen hard to discount, given how at least one major right wing think tanks openly called for a new Pearl Harbor as a uniting event. But it's also not difficult to believe things were just fumbled on the intelligence level. As for outlandish ones? There's so many! Chemtrails, David Ickes Lizardmen, Ron Paul '08, Fluoridation concerns, HAARP. The list goes on!

What got you started volunteering on election days?  Do you volunteer on election campaigns as well?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Two things: Firstly the money was helpful in a time when I really needed it. But also because my Grandma had been doing it since before I was born, and instilled in me the idea that it's just something people should do.

Why am I your favorite?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Because you are my dawg. Remember last year, when I was tripped out on anesthesia and went into the drunbk thread to praise your name, and didn't remember doing it later on? That's why.

Do you do any writing outside of your games?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Rarely, anymore. I find it very frustrating to try and craft scenes or dialogue to my personal standards. As such, it's seldom easy to force myself to want to do it anymore. Despite all appearances to the contrary, I try to hold myself up to a professional standard.

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) Never you rasoodock the dyslexia!

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I think for supper I will beat you with a board.

Is that a stethoscope in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) Yes!

How'd you run into Touhou? MotK, for that matter?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Mostly via iichan. I used to hang out on /azu/, back in the mid to late aughts, and would look around the other boards, and I'd always see it.  Then one day, I IMed my old buddy E-mouse after some time of silence, and asked him about some Mother series things (I had recently completed Mother 3 and Earthbound, and had some things to quiz him on.) Then I asked him what he was up to, he told me he'd been hanging around here and poosh, so I asked him for the details. Soon after, when I got around to trying PCB (having cut my teeth on rRootage and Warning Forever prior), I really got into it; from there he introduced me to various doujins. Couple months later, I asked him about that forum he kept mentioning, and dropped in one 3 AM. It was the most important day in this forum's history.

Do you predict Purvis will ask you if he is your favorite?
Are you my favorite?
Are you your favorite?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) But of course!

Is it a good idea to make decisions based on favoritism?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png)  That depends on the decision, don't you think? For instance, decisions related to makeouts most definitely involve high degrees of favoritism under normal circumstances.

So anyway, how'd you come up with a name like Purvis?

(http://http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) It began in the heady days of the '96 election, when I would do a generic old man impersonation of Bob Dole. Later, as the election ended, I continued to do it as a generic old man. My Dad, easily amused by memes of all sorts, quickly labeled this Uncle Pervy. The name has stuck with me since, mutating in various ways.

Do you think you can win Genso Monopoly? You've missed a lot of aggressive plays that would have crippled the other guys.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Aggression is for people smarter than me who can properly calculate and weigh risks. Besides, I've not had much luck in getting plans I consider actually green-lighted. So I'll just take it easy, until I don't.

Easy mode, or no?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I like to think I'm a normal mode player, but I can't get anywhere in SA, UFO, or GFW's normals. Cleared everything in ESoD, PCB, IN, PoFV (with continues =[), and MoF's normals, though.

What would make your head spin if you found out about something?

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) Don't peet so much firegold, you gloopy bratchny.

Why is Kisume your favorite Touhou character?
Oh crap uh...

What specific aspects of Kisume are most alluring! :V

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) In truth, I have no real favorite. My last touhou sort have a 14 way tie for first place. But, let's talk Kisume. Firstly, she has the advantage of being overlooked and background. This means I can have a field day with her without it being too much of fighting the tide of fanon. As well, it's kinda implied that she's something of a hermit crab, and thus homeless/a drifter in the traditional sense, which lets me give her a hobo mystique. Also, she's not very powerful, so power doesn't define her character like it does with a lot of others, and means she has to be clever or sneaky to get by.

Will there ever be a Turkish release of the Z-Machines?

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) When they admit to the old ultraviolence they dropped on the Armenians, oh my droog.

Are you going to keep running Z-Machine after Iku Quest? If so can it be Yuuka Slaughters the Z-Machine Quest?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png)  Oh, I'm always thinking 2-5 or more game ahead. They're be a few more Z-Machines yet. And no, none may know the Z-Machine secret.

Why do people think you're the old spice guy?

(http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/313/tenma.png) I'll take this one. Hello, Shadoweh. How are you? I'm fine. Excellent! Judging from your profile, you are a lady-type, and thus I feel doubly obligated to answer your question while I juggle these bouquets and ponder which one I will give to you today. This began a year or so ago, when Purvis pondered what Lord Tenma would be like. Quickly, he realized that Lord Tenma would have a powerful yet soothing voice, such as the one that is massaging your ear drums right now! Once this was realized, it quickly became apparent that Lord Tenma is in fact a ridiculously handsome black man, and he revealed his discovery to his friends. His friends, overwhelmed by this deduction of canon, quickly rewarded him with an avatar bearing my likeness. Ladytypes such as yourself have been confused since, it is perfectly understandable. Now, Shadoweh, please accept this Bouquet of Chocolate Roses, and we shall ride my jetski pteranodon into the sunset, where we shall proceed to have a lovely picnic.

Why the hell is your thread at 3 pages even though it was posted today?

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png)  That wasn't me, neezhnies!

So did we EVER make it out of the Tomb of Horrors?

Anyway.
What do you have against yellow UFO theme parks?

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) More like, I have a thing for ultraviolence on Stuffman

Also, how/why did you start the whole text adventure thing here?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) The true origin began when Trance posted a thread in CPMC that was entitled "Guide Me Down This Barren Path", I jumped in and started parsing it. Things took off, and Part 0 was born. Then died.

Why?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I like big butts, and I cannot lie.

Always one thing I have been wondering about you is: Why do you type on IRC all your lines between *  *  ? ? ?

A mystery which must be solved!

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) It is part of a pact I've been involved in for quite a long time now.

How exactly DID Jeff K. Anon get to Gensokyo?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) A shady new Yukari shrine conspiracy.

What is the origin of your Hobolovin'?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I'm not really sure. I think it's tremendously interesting that wandering uneducated vagrants, in the modern era, built up their own subculture, with art styles, a form of writing in hobo glyphs, slang, and were generally recognized. It's an interesting side effect of extreme poverty and misfortune.

Favorite game that we have never heard about?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) That's a toughie; I so rarely have favorites. So...Xenogears, The Guardian Legend, Willow (NES)

What's your main job as an Acolyte around?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Largely I am participating in discussions on what to do about various problems that come up in the forum, and offering opinions on future developments when I have one worth sharing.

Snowdens of ye(ry

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) Yarbles!

You've logged more hours on this site than anyone else for this incarnation of the forums.  What's a typical day like for you?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Really, I just never close the tabs ever. I wonder if I get double credit for having two tabs open at once?

I can never seem to decide between waffles or crepes for breakfast. How should I remedy this?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Pancakes. Or flapjacks if you have the right stuff. There are the hobo-approved flying food of the gods!

An alien from another planet lands on Earth. He shows up at your bedroom door. The first thing he says to you is, "Bring me the funk." What is the first album you recommend?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Ohio Players' Greatest Hits. It's hard to suggest any one starting point, really.

Why do you call it "Neohio"? What's "neo" about it?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Neohio formed after the apocalypse. Now its residents scratch for food and employment, embittered against all and sundry. And to the northeast the Amish flourish, for they were always ready for the world to become post-apocalyptic.

Why do you hate punk rock?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I find it, at best, extremely repetitive and boring. It's not really, to my ears, designed to be listened to so much as it's made to be played at people. Work into this a penchant for whiny whitey vocals (in tone, not message) that are virtually never pleasant, and it's really just an audio disaster. Even with bands that could sing, like Death back when the sound was being invented, the end result isn't moving so much as just kinda boring.

Who is your favorite Beatle, and why?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Lennon because he's dead. Not really sure. The beatles stood together, it seems rather like picking out your favorite part of a gattai robot to me.

Polar Star, Spur, Snake, or Machine Gun?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Machine Gun. I loves that hoverin'.

Which Z-Machine did you enjoy running most, and why?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) All of them. Each had their own fun parts; whether it was Patchouli meeting the Angry Sun, Reisen breaking into the Lunarian Base, Utsuho finding the SCP objects, Maribel discovering Renko, or Iku dealing with the Brocken Spectre, each part has had things that have made me grin and I've waited to drop on the players with much anticipation.

Any news about the Orb of Zot lately?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I've been taking a break. Crawl has been very frustratingly fuck you in it's early mid game, and the realization I'm winning by raw luck rather than any applicable skill has drained my will to play, especially in light that the designers want to enhance this effect in v0.8. That and Radiant Historia and Dragon Quest 3 SNES has been keeping me busy.

You are appointed commander in chief of the entire world. This means you have total control over all of it's armies and countries. What do you do?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) You know how right wing extremists crow about how there's a huge socialist conspiracy that'll socialize medicine, install a better social safety net, legalize gay abortions, kill the free market, and all that? That's me. I'm that guy.

Name a superpower you would want to have and why you would want it.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I would want the power to transmute substances into other substances, so I could turn gravel into gold and not have to worry about money.

What is your preferred weapon in a zombie apocalypse?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Shotgun for range, axe for melee.

Who is your least favorite Touhou?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Mima. No question.

Any tips on improv?  Because if there's one thing to say about you, you're never caught without something to say.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Study the masters, play monkey island, inundate yourself with people very skilled with your momma jokes and other insults.

If you have SA, which shot type do you prefer and why?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I like Reimu A, because she hits like a speeding dumptruck.

How many languages do you know?  Are there any that you want to learn?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I barely know my native tongue. I'd be happy learning Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, French, or pretty much any other major language used over large geographic regions or in highly influential nations.

What are your favorite genres of books, music, and video games?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) For books, fantasy and comedy are favorites. So obviously I am a hueg Pratchett fan. When it comes to music, I like funk, rock, the more melodic kinds of metal, 80s hair rock, blues, soul, reggae, vidja game musics of all sorts, some electronica, prog rock, various forms of classical I am too dumb to identify, and so on. With video games, I like RPGs by heart, have a liking toward Roguelikes, and enjoy bullet hells when they aren't walling me in. I can play a lot of things outside of that and enjoy them, though.

You go out to get ice cream and all they have are mint chocolate chip, rainbow sherbert, and chocolate chip cookie dough.  Which do you choose?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Mint or cookie dough, depending on my mood. They are two of my favorites.

What is your highest level of education, and how much does it mean to you that you got exactly that far?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Let's just say my degree isn't worth the paper it's printed on and leave it at that. That said, I'm still happy I got it, for personal reasons.

When you last went to Otakon, where did you live, and how did you get to the convention?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Same place as I do now; I hitched a ride with some friends.

Why have you used three personages and none of them have been the Neuromancer?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) There is a time and a place for Case.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LION IN VOLTRON AND/OR FAVORITE GAO IN GAOGAIGAR

(http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/1493/neuromancercover.th.jpg) (http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/1493/neuromancercover.jpg)

To whom would you recommend this game and why?  It has caught my eye on more than one occasion but I know squat about it.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I expect you'd enjoy it, if you really got pretty much every PS2 RPG there was. It's interesting so much as there's kinda neat plot about time travel, with graphic-novel-esque YOU FUCKED UP endings all over the place; sadly this means history doesn't successfully branch as often as I'd like. Also, it manages to have a fairly well done apathetic main character, as he has a sense of perspective about things and doesn't really make a huge show of his disaffectation. Random encounters are interesting insomuch as enemy position in important, and you get a lot of moves to force them into the positions that you want. They can take a lot longer than you'd want, though. But overall, I'm enjoying it.

What would you say was the proudest moment of your life?

You are in the hospital with a terminal illness. Do you ask your doctor for euthanasia? Why or why not?

Favorite NetHack class?

What would you say was the proudest moment of your life?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Not quite sure, to be honest.

You are in the hospital with a terminal illness. Do you ask your doctor for euthanasia? Why or why not?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Probably not. I'd be wanting to do things with that time. But this is me now. Were I in a lot of pain, I might think differently. Might think differently if it were not terminal and I was slated to make a full recovery, too.

Favorite NetHack class?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Caveman, followed by archeologist. Healer and Priest are fun if you get gifted with a good killy weapon.

Ahh Purvis!

How does one jump back into text adventures? After two months I fear my text adventure answering skills have gone rusty and now I can only watch in RPG as others achieve success! What should this wayward traveler do?

Have you figured out yet as to why my doorbell scares the living cripe out of me?

A question toward the master himself, how doeth one increase thy speaketh abilities when it comes to that of the chats that relay through the internet? Sadly I fear I have not seen thy abilities at work within the last labeled time period thus EXAMPLE ALONE CANNOT INFLUENCE THIS MIND WHICH IS READY AND WILLING FOR MORE KNOWLEDGE TO BE ABSORBED.

Suddenly in a flash, THINGS START GETTING DOWN. The wall to your left breaks off and explosions happen slowly BUT SURELY. They are caused by SHIRLEY. However SHIRLEY does not have any pigtails. Nay, she contains hair that is made not out of biological material but by that of an unknown source. Her current location is far above that of a mere bullet to reach but close enough for a swing from that of a melee weaponry to bring wrath of the wielder into her neck swiftly and with relative ease. Now one may wonder how that can be the case, but one has to take in account that the name of this surely slow explosions causer is named Shirley, thus these type of things apply. However you hold neither a gun nor a sword, but a live raptor within your right hand. It currently holds no name as any man prior to you who has seen such a beast has not been able to utter a word of description of this raptor as their doom followed quickly. You hold the raptor by it's two feet and its head is currently hitting against the floor. The floor is made of COCONUT SHAVINGS. After all, so many cakes contain this yet no one wants to eat them, what better use of them than carpeting? If the raptor were to be pulled away from the coconut shavings, it may quickly realize that its head is not in a ROOF of coconut shavings but in fact a FLOOR of coconut shavings which will quickly cause it to become enraged because that means he isn't as tall as he thought he was. The raptor in its time of growing was short and not tall thus it began to grow jealous of things that are taller than it. The coconut shavings in fact has caused it to think it had a sudden growth burst.

Raptor aside, in your left hand is contained an ordinary towel. But this is no ordinary towel, it says in the very right of it, owned by "Donovan J. Smith." But it's not the name that makes the difference. The J is in fact a cane taped with DUCT TAPE in between the two letters. The cane in fact has a jet booster inside of it that can allow you to fly off to great depths, but if you remove the cane from the towel, the duct tape would in result become UNSTICKY and unusable, thus you must remember that you might have to lose it unless you can figure out how to properly remove the tape. But hey, sacrifices must be made for progress to be achieved no? These are your two tools that you must use to bring about success in your ventures. In your inventory you have with you a blunt object of some sort you took during one of your rummaging tours, your business card, after all you never know when you need to be professional, a darker, after all, there's light coming from the sun, moon, and stars in the sky, why in bloody hell would you need a lighter when there's so much of it? That's where the darker comes in. And finally you hold a key that opens up something somewhere in some alternate dimension which has a 7.43% chance of containing dark chocolate pie.

Oh yes, and you're inside an incredibly huge octagon shaped box. Twice the corners, twice the swag eh? Now, with all these things in mind, how do you go about delivering the bank note to your cousin's brother-in-law? You are to deliver this to him by 3 AM in the morning of the next day, and it is now 3 PM in the afternoon.

No one appreciates cool funk music or old school rap in the MixApp room! What would you recommend I use to save myself?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Welcome to being fully disappointed in a generation raised on lousy music. The best you can do is find other things you both like.

Are you disappointed in me that I was never able to finish the X-COM LP from about half a year ago?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Somewhat, but given I was on dials-up, it's not like I could actually follow it.

What do you feel about the world's recent events?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) World events tend to make me feel depressed and powerless. I've kinda fallen into the coping method that Tom Kreider recommended about the time that one guy tried to assassinate Representative Gifford, which is to assume that the worst possible outcome will happen. That way if it does, you have the grim satisfaction of being right, and if it doesn't you have the pleasant moment where you can regain a bit of faith in the world.

How many other states have you visited?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Let's see. Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Maryland. So five. Oh, and probably Virgina, too. Don't really recall how that one route back from Maryland worked.

What's your favorite place you've visited thus far?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Probably Tennessee or Maryland. In general, I'm not impressed with places for what they have, but rather for who is there. In the former case, my maternal grandparents lived there, and I would visit in the summer when I was a kid, and we'd caravan up there every Thanksgiving (and sometimes in the spring). It was a thing I enjoyed greatly. Maryland I've been to twice for Otakon. Those were both huge forum meet-ups with a lot of good friends.

How could you live with dial-up?  How much did you actually do on the internet with dial-up?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) IMs generally worked just fine. Forums didn't load that slowly, except for when we're giving poor Triela a beating and such. Image boards were difficult, especially when I switched to Chrome. Danbooru and the like generally meant I was going to be working in some other tab or messing with an emulator or handheld for a few minutes while stuff loaded. Pixiv was a nightmare, a lot of times a page just couldn't be coaxed into fully loading. Youtubes were a rare thing; nothing was quite so annoying as my hipster friend insisting I watch a certain youtube to find out it's just stupid as hell, and he insisted it was hilarious. Downloading stuff took patience, especially when I switched to chrome and connections dropped a lot. But by and large, I got by in day to day things alright. Having a RW DVD and friends with a better connection helped for larger downloads. The real pain was updating antivirus stuff.

Right about now, the funk soul brother?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) You can go with us.

Ahh Purvis!

How does one jump back into text adventures? After two months I fear my text adventure answering skills have gone rusty and now I can only watch in RPG as others achieve success! What should this wayward traveler do?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I find it's best to reread over what's happened, and see if you can note any little things the other players have missed or forgotten in the days and weeks. Also, planning ahead is usually welcomed.

Have you figured out yet as to why my doorbell scares the living cripe out of me?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I presume it is uncomfortably loud, like my Grans' doorbell (one has tinnitus, the other refuses to wear a hearing aid). Perhaps you should disable it and replace it with a real bell?

A question toward the master himself, how doeth one increase thy speaketh abilities when it comes to that of the chats that relay through the internet? (http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) When it comes to communicating through text? Just speak as you always do. No one's grading it. If you want to learn how to be more precise and pretty-sounding with your language, read some good books and absorb the wisdom.

(http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/313/tenma.png) First, we deal with the most important matter, that of Shirley. I would introduce myself to her with a "Hello, Shirley." Then I would demonstrate my Jet Cane to her, while composing a set of rhyming couplets to describe the interestingness of her hair. During this time, I would use the darker to create better mood lighting, and invite her to compose sweet nothings to whisper into my ear while marveling at my strong muscle body. When the situation had calmed down, I would ask her for direction for the closest way to where my cousin's brother-in-law keeps his domicile. Sadly, it would not work out between us, nor could we share my cousin's brother-in-law's martini-glass shaped hot tub, as Shadoweh is the only one for me. I would feel badly for Shirley, but I would hope that things will go for well for her, as certainly someone with such interesting hair will have few problems with the guytypes or ladytypes of her choice.  Using the rocket cane, I would blast off through the hole that Shirley helpfully created. Along the way to aforementioned domicile, I would try to reassure my raptor friend although he is indeed short, he also has the potential to hold the scientific world in the palm of his betaloned hands with his not being extinct. Then I would offer him a high five and deliver the bank-note. Afterward, I would plant a forest, using only the finest sequoia seeds, which upon sprouting I would then climb and build a monument to Shirley, in hopes that she will not feel too bad. Then I would build one to Shadoweh, so she doesn't feel left out.

Are you Graham Chapman, and is your nurse Carol Cleveland? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPFQxXxDv6k)

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Shhhhhh...

How "wise" is your beard, or do you normally shave?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Left to my own designs, I will not shave. I very much despise razors across my soft neck.

Favorite choice of military vehicle?  Consider sea, land, and air.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I am not very fond of military vehicles, as departing words of President Eisenhower remain strongly with me, and remind me they represent a very real lose of resources that could be used to help and elevate others. This said, I like the Aircraft Carriers, as they are practically floating cities.

"Your Mother" quips at work have become bland, what would be a good segue?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Arson.

What is your least favorite non-tuberous vegetable?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) There's so many I do not care for. But likely onions. Onion chunks and slices have a way of ending up in many meals I do not want them to have any part of.

Would you go so far as to say 9/11 was a false flag attack?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) No, I am quite convinced that ultraradical islamist terrorists most definitely wanted to do it. But it's kinda hard to call a false flag when the people doing it aren't really under any flag that exists.

Ever get to enjoy the company of a significant other?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Yes.

If you could live with any three Touhou, who would they be?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Hmmm. Kaguya seems like she'd be interesting to live with, as I have no doubt she could cover all funding issues, and seems to be omega chill. Nitori would probably be fun to be around. I have no doubt she'd keep greasy engine parts on the countertops, but she could fix anything. And for the last one, I'll say Shizuha, because every house needs a live-in deity, and the Shiz seems like she's be pretty nice.

Oh god that was a long string of pictures.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Yes!

Safespot or dodge?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Depends. Safe spots tend not to be safe for long, so dodging will have to happen soon. Permanent safe spots tend to be really fiddly, and I can never get into them.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I'm consistent? As for not being bored, well, if things are especially slow, I typically have knowledge of the future good parts to impel me on, but typically it's not a problem. Not to mention there's an obligation of not leaving people hanging. As for reigniting the spark, planning ahead helps. The more plans you have, generally the more eager you are to enact them.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Waiting for flavor text => forgetting about it for a day or more. And sometimes I click the thread, click out for some reason, then forget that I had read it and not posted. The latter happens in Shikieiki Quest a lot.

What is some advice you would give to players of the text adventures?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Be creative. And do you best to stay in character. For instance, if you're playing, say, Yuyuko quest, recall what kind of character Yuyuko is, and have her act as such. So there would be things she'd most certain not do or say, and things she'd definitely do or say in certain situation. Another good idea is, when stumped, to go exploring. Also, often it's a good idea to try to treat conversations outside of an Ultima-esque "Name? Job? Bye!" tree.

Has anyone ever done something in your Z-Machines that you would consider banning them from playing over?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Not really. If people do something tragically dumb, I tend to just snark at them.

It's because I hated him so much I wanted to make him suffer by making him staff.
And we needed a sacrifice.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) It's all true. I vote Ruro, no one likes her anyways.

What is your opinion on Germany?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Germany is a lovely country full of wonderful people who band together every few decades to try to take over the world and commit exciting and previously unimagined war crimes.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) For reals, I don't have much of an opinion about it. It's a country that's there, largely being itself and speaking a language that is 60% similar to mine. I'd probably enjoy visiting if I could get around the language barrier. There's a lot of cool historical stuffs I'd love to see and vandalize.

Do you hate the PC-98 or just the vocal fanboys? If the former, why?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Actually, I don't hate either. Largely I just like to poke fun at people who make a big deal about it being superior to the later games.  I do have a particular animus toward people that like to pose against things for the sake of doing it, mistaking disdain for sophistication, which is an unfortunate problem among humans as it's way easier to whine than it is to appreciate shit. To be honest, I've never really met a PC-98 fan that was particularly dumb; save for the Mima jihad.

Do you think you will ever do a second volume of Day Planners?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Probably not. The original was mostly an experiment to see if I could tell a story through lists. But I do find it's main advantage is that it lets you tell a story over the course of weeks without dead time really being a problem. Someday I may come up with something, but right now I really do not have any ideas burning a hole in my inspiration.

What is the best way to reach the level of awesomeness closest to yours that is still realistically achievable by us regular folks?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png)Learn to appreciate things and be honest. Enjoy things even if they're unpopular, or if they're too popular and the fandumb is largely retarded (FFVII, our own fandom). Take in the things you like, just overlook those you don't. Obviously some things are straight up despicable, but when you find them don't make a big deal about it unless it's topical and at least kinda welcome (I really dislike punk music and most US entertainment media, but I usually don't rant about it). Poking fun is occasionally okay, but being actively a dick generally isn't fun for anyone.

"HUZZAH!" ?

(http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/6703/touhounitorifromimmorta.png) I'll tolchok you right in the gorlo, oh my brother.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) There's too many neat animals to bother with favorites. I am fond of goats, chickens, ducks, and penguins though.

What kind of tv shows do you enjoy?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) By and large, I don't really enjoy TV. But there are a few things I've really liked lately. Stargate (original series, not the later ones I've yet to see) is a particular favorite (NO SPOILERS PLZ). The Community is very pleasing, given it's like the only time Chevy Chase has been funny since...ever. Dr Who's last season was pleasing. Recently I've discovered Garth Marenghi's Dark Place. Also, Top Gear has managed to make me smile. So I like sci-fi and comedies, it seems. But good ones.

Did you like Balrog or Misery better?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Totally Balrog. He had piles of styles.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Read up on what a kidney does.

Who is your favorite Resident Artist? Why?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Slaves, without a question. His sense of humor gets me nearly every time, and his scribble style is charming as hell, while his more serious pictures tend to be very interesting.

Should Ammy make a tenguboard and post pictures?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Ammy doing things and good things are practically hand in hand, so yes. Yes he should.

If you had to live in a pre-Enlightenment (or regional equivalent) society, where would you live and why?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Do I have all the knowledge I do now? If so, as far back as I can, so I can use my superficial knowledge of science and medicine to pass myself of as a sorcerer. However, I also would already be dead, due to not being able to have pancreatic surgery. So I suppose the modern era is the best era for me.

What led you to develop such a strong interest in ordinary people's history, instead of rulers and the like?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Originally? Role Playing and writing. Knowing how the common man lived is very important to making a setting. But past that, as I grew more socially aware, I realized that these details were often overlooked in the Great Man/War to War style of history. How did the fall of Rome really affect your average peasant in Gaul? How did the Renaissance improve or ruin the life of the average German? How did your typical resident of Uruk get by? These are the people who allowed for the Great Men to be grate, and did the actual fighting in all of those wars, and the actual dying most of the time. It's important to understand them.

If you could pet any animal, setting aside small restrictions like extinction, geographical isolation, safety, etc., which would you choose?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) A coelacanth or a hallucigenia.

Do you enjoy gardening? If so, what do you like to grow the most?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I never really gotten into it, since I'm not an outdoorsy person at all. But it would be nice to have a herb garden in a window box, I think.

Will you lick it for me?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) More like, will you lick it for me, nerd.

How deep is your knowledge of cyberpunk and how did you get into it?

Would you assist me getting into such a world that fascinates me, for I'm still new to it?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) It's kinda broad, and kinda shallow. To be honest, I don't enjoy Cyberpunk so much as I enjoy the idea of Cyberpunk. The actually books are largely awful. The treatment of the setting and characters is superficial. Slang tends to be used more to obscure meaning or hide author ignorance than build the setting (I can recall one scene in Idoru about a character booting up a laptop that was so slang heavy it pretty much established Gibson wanted to show the process without actually making it look like it made sense). The one that was almost good, City Comes A Walkin', had the main love interest be a psychic. In a modern-esque setting. For no goddamn reason. It added pretty much nothing to the story whatsoever. She was the only psychic. It had no real impact in existing. Then you have the general problem of the stories trying so hard to be edgy and gritty that they either annoy, or become self parodies; the latter of which Neal Stephenson has made a lovely career in. By and large, it's the opposite of Sci-fi. Sci-fi uses science to tell a story. Cyberpunk uses a story to talk about possible sciency things.

In short, Cyberpunk would be good if it had better writers. Which is sad, the concept is awesome. So I am probably not the guy to ask about your second question.

Where did you buy that Ruro? I want one.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I got her for free with the purchase of my Nobu.

Which is, disregarding settingand established and focusing just on the rules, your favorite role playing system, and why?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Good rules work with their setting, so disregarding the setting is kind of foolish. But...SAGA System. TSR released it in the mid-nineties for Dragonlance 5th Age and their Marvel Comics game I don't recall the name of. It was card-based, and the idea was to replace randomness with player choice. It was terribly interesting and emphasized RPing over twinking very nicely. Sadly it'd be impossible to use online without some kinda client.

If they shout "Save us!", will you whisper: "No"?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) >Probably darker greens. Cooler colors in general, when in isolation.

After all, did you enjoy Neuromancer? I'm reading it right now.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Neuromancer had some interesting parts, but it really didn't relate drama and tension in a good way, and there's that scene near the beginning where Molly is all like, "Hey Case I know we just met and you just woke up after intensive neurosurgery but we're gonna fuck right now." that just made me shake my head. Overall, I found Neuromancer pretty forgettable.

What about cyberpunk movies? I mean, Johnny Mnemonic is pretty freaking rad, and Blade Runner is the slowest best film ever

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I've not actually seen any cyberpunk movies, but the short story Johnny Mnemonic was fairly lame. I always hear good about Blade Runner, so maybe one of these days.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Time to make a trip to the meat market and see what brings in the nuyens. Since it's looking like drek runs, might as well squeeze the most out of it.

Why is Wriggle a decker?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Because it is canon. Or more precisely, because in one of the holiday comics I did ages ago, I had Wriggle speaking, and had to resist the urge to have her say, "This is not green at all!" Upon considering it, I was a fool for resisting this urge, as being a wannabe deck runner is exactly what Wriggle would do.

Do you actually know how to run decking in Shadowrun, and if so in which editions?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Actually, I'm more of a Cyberpunk 2020 guy. Most of my experience with Shadowrun came from reading a lousy walkthrough about the SNES game years ago. One of these days, I need to look into Cyberpunk 20##'s new edition.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Old enough to technically have sired Slaves. The age in my profile is correct.

Favored Race/background/god in Crawl?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Ooooh. Background-wise, I enjoy Chaos Knights of Lugonu for the flavor, but Crusaders are probably my favorite for survivablity since they take Lair from theoretically possible to actually possible. Favorite race is kobold, but I enjoy ghouls too. And merfolk, for the mobility and being completely crazy eights in polearms. Favorite god is harder. I like Okawaru for all the free junk, Nemelex for completely changing the game and also for making ghoul monks actually able to survive early mid game.  Trog is a favorite, due to my first victory. Lugonu is neat, if not all that realistically great. But the best is Beogh. The day they nerf Beogh in anything ever is the day Crawl stops being worth it at all, Beogh is the most distinctive and defining thing about the game.

What is your idea of a relaxing vacation?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Hm. I imagine one that is completely free of stress, but has cool things to do pretty much whenever I feel like, at all times of day. Preferably with a lot of friends around.

What is your favourite kind of candy, if any?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) With eating candies, it's Reese's Pieces. Oh god, i could eat them for meals. When it comes to hard candies, it's root beer barrels. I probably did extensive tooth damage to myself with those back when I had easy access to them, I'd go through several a day.

What is the most irredeemably evil thing you have ever heard of happening, ever?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) History is broad and deep, and after a point you stop ranking things and just realize after a certain point is crossed it's just fucking awful.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, Dreamcast, Gameboy, Gameboy SP, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy DS, Genesis Nomad (scavenged, no idea if it works). Used to have an Atari 7800 but it's kinda borked.

What is your opinion on kiwi birds?

When there's something strange in my neighborhood, who should I call?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Ghost Nappa. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8MO2ShVBV0)

What's your opinion on the current state of space exploration?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) There's some interesting things being considered, but it won't be Americastan what does them, we're too busy devoting over 50% of our budget to killing brown people and slashing social safety nets because brown people benefit from them too.

You house is on fire, what do you do?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) How on fire? Do I have enough time to carry something out? If so I'll try to grab my portable HD, or my tower if I think I can do it and get out in time. They's expensive and got lots of stuff =[

This presumes no one else is in any trouble, though.

Are you against using ghosts to make cheap refrigerators?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) It is practically canon.

Ever had any potentially paranormal experiences?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Probably, but I don't recall them. I do remember being really young, though, and having difficulty telling somewhat realistic dreams from reality though. That being said, one doesn't need to have such experiences to be oddly superstitious about some things; I still find it hard to walk down a country road alone at night, for instance =[

Would you... touch it for me?

Carpeting or wood floors? Or something else entirely?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I like carpeting, it's nice on my feet, and doesn't splinter when fucked up. But given spills, wood is probably better for me. My computer chair has tore the shit out of my floor, though.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I help Grandma every now and then with hers. Used to do it a lot as a kid.

What's the best movie you've seen recently, or the one that sticks out the most in recent memory?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Do the TTGL movies count? I enjoyed them. With western stuff, I finally watched Stargate, which I enjoyed largely due to the series. Also watched Six-String Samurai, which was pretty neat. But as I mentioned, I tend not to like most movies, typically they're one of the worst storytelling mediums in my opinion.

Like horror films of any kind?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Typically no. But I enjoyed Alien. Either they tend t be lame, or they make my superstitious scared of the dark ass too jumpy.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Come up with a scam.

You suddenly get an opportunity to build a summer house in Gensokyo, anywhere you like.  Where do you put it?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I would put it in human town. That way it has the smallest chance of becoming a faerie clubhouse, oni gambling den, haunted, or so on while I'm not there. As well, I stand the smallest chance of being youkai'd in the middle of the night, and have the largest chance of a problem solver saving my bacon if it does happen. Not mention at least a couple of the cooler youkai (Keine, Ran) come to town anyways, so I can meet and buddy up with them in good time.

What is your opinion of Barack Obama?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I largely regard him as a traitor to the left. He has repeatedly failed to take a stance on leftist causes, which would do a lot to rally his own goddamn party to actually try to represent those ideals in Congress and keep people convinced that such things are actually possible. Remember back when he had his team drafting up actions he could take immediately upon taking office? Remember how many of them he actually did? While I never really expected a left-wing revolution or a New New Deal, being well aware of how the right wing machine works, I was kind of hoping he would at least make the effort to advocate it loudly and keep the flame alive. Instead he really doesn't go up to bat at all and pretty much enervates the base by demonstrating he doesn't give enough of a shit to do what he was elected to do. Then he continues to ape Republican ideals, like a the goddamn spending freeze on everything but military (can't cut out the far the hugest sinkhole!) like McCain proposed in...was it September of '08? August? Onna those months. This all said, I'll probably still hold my nose and vote for him in November of '12 just because he'll almost certainly be technically preferable to whatever combination of Gingrich/Palin/Arpaio the right wing comes up with to loudly blame the debt they created onto the Democrats and gleefully cheer along corporatism.

Muscle, Mysticality, or Moxie?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Muscle ascensions used to be the funnest, til the Nemesis Quest was finished and the seal clubbers got a goddamn nightmare. Nowadays I like-a the Saucerors. But in reality? Moxie all the way.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) There's much too many places to visit that I could narrow it down. I suppose I'd like to see Angkor Wat, but not with a tour group, just one of the resident monks to show me around. And he
speaks good Englitch. Preferably one full of little stories about foibles after daily life there, and history of such. That'd be pretty sweet.

What's the story with you going to the hospital? Did everything turn out alright? I was only around for part of it. :ohdear:

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) So back in spring of '06, I started to get these horrible pains in my torso. I go to the ER on monday night, they give me a once-over, don't find anything and suggest maybe I had some reflex and give me some prilosec. Two days later, it happens again. This time, they actually do a more intensive scan rather than suggesting I'm a liar/padding the bill, and they find out my gall bladder was working at about 30% efficiency. They discover this at about 10:30. About noon, they have me in surgery. I get a 25000 or so bill. County services looks at it, and pretty much gives me no shit about nullifying the surgery costs at all, immediately agreeing there's no way I could possibly afford it. This leaves me with about 2000 dollars or so of doctor costs I still couldn't afford. So...I just signed my car over to my mom, and waited for the knee-breakers to show up. So far they haven't.

Would you mind selling RP'ing to those of us who have been anything BUT sold on the idea?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I probably can't. If the idea of creating your own character, and running them through a dynamic world and a dynamic story where you have a high degree of freedom doesn't appeal to you, then I can't really think of anything to say that would change your mind. The only thing I could do after that is obligate you to try it, and wow your pants off with the process.

Do you like stand-up comedy?  If so, anyone in particular?

I used to, back in the time before I had internet and still watched TV. George Carlin was a favorite. I've got no idea who's out there now, but between the things I hear about the likes of Carlos Mencia, Dennis Leary, and other comedians whose names reach my ear when paying what scant attention I do (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Abridged guy likes his stand up comedians, so I've encountered some things while looking into references), I'm largely not impressed.

Potentially invasive: What do you typically carry around every day? Your wallet, a knapsack, a backpack, a water bottle, some snacks, things of that nature?
Extension: What's in your bindle?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Depends. Typically I'll have my driver's license, and a fuel cardif I have one (my grans get me those for Christmas) or fuel money if I need it. If I'm out to purchase something, I'll have the cash I think I'll need; these are uncommon trips. If I'm going to visit someone, I bring the bindle. It contains pretty much all of my DS games (friends like to borrow them, and I like to borrow their stuff), a change of clothes in case I decide to stay over (which I often do), some common pain relieves, sudafeds, and antacids because they tend to be necessary sooner or later, and my DS (or GBA SP if I have a need of that). If I intend to stay out for a day or so, I'll often bring a two gallon travel jug of water with me; most of the places I visit have awful tap water.

When did you pick up your habit of playing in the rain?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Rain looks neat. Umbrellas are fun. I've probably believed this most of my life. That said, I've also scaled back on that; I've explored most of the areas around me pretty thoroughly, which makes roving around at random less fun.

Do you believe every universe that could exist, does exist? (Whether it be something as simple as going left when you went right to something as out there as everyone living on the moon instead.)

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) God I hope not. If every moral decision I made had the bad result happen elsewhere anyways, that would be an exceedingly terrible place to live. You might as well not try, because it wouldn't make a difference anyways in the grand scheme of things.

What kind of universe would you like to live in?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I'll be boring and say one without poverty, war, or general systematic suffering. I like not having to be angry at my fellow man for being selfish, callous shitholes.

What's your primary motivation in life?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I try to be less unpleasant and more thoughtful than the "average" person, figuring if I can at least do that I can justify the various debts racked up as a consequence of existing vs not existing at all.

Yeah, those are horrible examples.  Carlos Mencia had everyone shit on him once it came to light that he stole jokes wholesale.  Dennis Leary gets the shaft for lifting a lot of his material from Bill Hicks, even while he was still alive.  Dane Cook was big a few years ago, but he was also found to be stealing jokes, and people wised up to his horrible delivery.  I think with a few exceptions (Patton Oswalt for one) material from after the 90s is weaksauce.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Patton Oswalt is kinda iffy for me. I've heard stuff I liked, and I've heard stuff that just fell flat. My hipster friend insists I love him as well, which poisons the well a bit. Also, I've noticed there's been a trend since...I dunno when of comedians leaning toward a persona that can be summed up as "I'm such an insensitive asshole, aren't I just so edgy? that I find annoying, but that's just the perception I've gotten from the few brushes I've had with it lately.

Aside from your DS/GBASP do you play many video games?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Emulators have been my buddy, as I lost my SNES cables some time ago. And for stuff I could have never actually played in my language anyways. I've not messed with consoles much lately. Which isn't so bad as I have no current gen consoles for stuff to keep piling up upon.

What do you dislike about film as a medium?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Length is a huge factor. Typically they try to tell a story in an hour and a half to two hours; the enormous number of scenes left out of book to movie conversions is a testament to this. A lot of stories, frankly, need more time than that. Treatment of characters tends to be shallow in comparison to written works and full out series. It's difficult to be subtle about details in a movie, as there are typically a lot more visual details to be found than in written works, so it is difficult to draw attention to a particular detail without putting too much emphasis on it and bludgeoning the watcher over the head with it. Non-animated movies are heavily limited by their budgets and how believable their can make their CGI effects, while a writer has no such concerns. But really, the time aspect is the big one; you have to make the watcher learn about a character and like them in a brief span of time, and trying to do this with more than a couple characters becomes less and less possible under this constraint. And even worse is time to explore side concepts that are not immediately related from the actual story. Some movies can do this well, but the examples are pretty rare compared to the legions of books that have come out since movies hit it big, let along before.

Do you play any instruments? If you don't, which instrument would you like to play?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I have no musical talent at all. I'd like to play the accordion, so I could get my Zydeco on.

What was so bad about Reaganomics?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Without going into too much detail, it ignores a lot of previously established economic knowledge on the faithful hope that free market will do good because the free market is innately good. Unfortunately, the truth is that the free market is a blind idiot god, and those who steer it are generally not interested in helping everyone along; for instance you can look at how real wages have stayed pretty much the same that they were, on average, throughout the aughts. As such, they exist largely as a measure to speed up the stratification of wealth, while removing things that help the poor and unfortunate to have a decent standard of life.

Do you prefer reading manga or watching anime?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Yes. I usually enjoy both.

What is your opinion on Dubya?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I'm going to take this in a slightly different direction. GW Bush had some good thoughts on immigration reform, particularly with giving a blanket amnesty to illegals (one of the very few good things Reagan did), and advocated it even though it is highly unpopular within his party. As well, BW Bush himself (not his administration, I should note) made geniune attempts to reach out to Muslims and made efforts to keep all muslims from being branded as terrorists, traitors, and generally being viewed like Jews were in 1930s Germany. His party, however, undermined that greatly.

Everything else GW Bush did? Fuck him. Fuck him with a bat.

Oh, so it DID turn out better than expected! I thought they had you breaking rocks and peeling potatoes to pay off the debt.If you say so.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I have no doubt they'd take my organs or toss me into a debtor's prison if they could. If not the hospital itself, than definitely the collection agency.

If you say so. My general impression was always just the opposite, though. Oh well.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Finding a good group is hella important, and it helps if they're not using a twink-out system like DnD. It can quickly go to hell with influential moron.

Anywho, any interest in sports/sports teams?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Practically none. I do try to listen attentively if people talk at me about sports, and figure out enough things to be half-decent to converse at. And I do love crowd energy. For instance, I didn't really care at all for the World Cup last summer, but I did very enjoy all the genuine and unreserved excitement around it, which is why I didn't mind a bit when #meido would become soccer chat for long periods of time. Even if it's not my thing, seeing my friends openly and excitedly enjoying something does my bitter old heart some good.

And since I wanna ask a dopey question, can you dance the lambada - the forbidden dance?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Not yet.

Have you ever considered being a teacher of either history or political science?

Would you say yes if a rurouni ever asked you to wander about on forgotten old roads enjoying one another's company?

Since you mentioned objectivism, have you ever read Atlas Shrugged or any other works by Ayn Rand? Or are they better used to prop up unwieldy furniture?

Have you ever considered drawing, at least to supplement your RPs?

Have you ever considered being a teacher of either history or political science?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I have, but I really don't perform well in front of groups, and my physical speaking skills are pretty lousy and difficult to sustain. I suppose I could function as a personal tutor, but I'd need to be trained for it.

Would you say yes if a rurouni ever asked you to wander about on forgotten old roads enjoying one another's company?

Since you mentioned objectivism, have you ever read Atlas Shrugged or any other works by Ayn Rand? Or are they better used to prop up unwieldy furniture?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I've tried, but Rand's writing and characterization are pretty lousy, aside from the awful message. She is very much an excellent bad example for writers. And I would suggest using them for cage bedding, myself.

Have you ever considered drawing, at least to supplement your RPs?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I used to try to draw, back in high school, but I had a fairly unsteady hand then, and pretty much no concept of how to shade well or make faces that weren't horrors. I came to enjoy writing much more than drawing, and what little skill I had has atrophied to uselessness. As such, I prefer to bully slaves into giving me artworks!

Whats your favourite kind of weather?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Depends on the season. Usually I enjoy clear skies with maybe a couple clouds, but in winter I like it to be clouded over, especially when it has snowed. I like being able to work off ambient natural light, and leave the lamp off.

What do you think the future of the world will be like?

What would you like the future of the world to be like?

Do you think the world really does run on a cycle of some time period determined by forces beyond our current level of comprehension, such as the 60 year cycle?

omg purvois how culd u

That sounds rather classy.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) And Latin doesn't?

What are your preferred fruits to eat?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Olives. olives are pretty much the only fruit I can stand; the texture of most fruit is very nauseating to me. I can't really figure out why olives don't bother me, but they don't. That said, I love most fruit flavorings.

What are the most important books you've ever read?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) That's an extremely difficult question. I'm going to say Edith Hamilton's Mythology, it was probably the first book that got me into academic subjects at all. Read it when I was ten, after playing Battle of Olympus, and it got me into mythology, which got me into history, then into government, and so on.

What time period would you most like to go back to and watch as everything played out, though not interacting with any of it at all?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I'd want to go back into the paleolithic period, let things play through til the bronze age, and watch human culture begin.

What do you think the future of the world will be like?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I have the suspicion that it's going to be pretty violent. The American public has pretty much established, on the whole, it doesn't mind America throwing its weight around as long as we think we're winning. And given we have pretty much the largest military, that's bad news for just about everyone.

What would you like the future of the world to be like?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I would like to see the US military defunded, multi-national corporations reigned in, and so on. But sadly, common sense is dismissed as Utopian foolishness, so it's likely to be the exact opposite of what of will happen.

Do you think the world really does run on a cycle of some time period determined by forces beyond our current level of comprehension, such as the 60 year cycle?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) No, we don't need forces beyond our imagination for that. Just things like people forgetting history as generations advance does it nicely.

What is your favourite tragic flaw to give a character? Conversely, what's your favourite heroic trait to give a character?

How did you get into KoL? And what was your first class choice?

Do you watch the Olympics, even though you've said you have no vested interest in sports?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I've seen a little bit of Lewis Black. He's kinda teetering on the edge for me, but I like I generally likes him. As for Titus, not seen his stand-up, did see his sitcom.

What is your favourite tragic flaw to give a character? Conversely, what's your favourite heroic trait to give a character?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Hmmm. When it comes to flaws, I tend to like wrath, callousness, or being a prankster. When it comes to good traits...I generally tend to like compassion.

How did you get into KoL? And what was your first class choice?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Heard about it from my hipster friend. And I started as a pastamancer. Spent a good year as one before ascension was implemented.

Do you watch the Olympics, even though you've said you have no vested interest in sports?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Not really. But I won't throw a fuss if someone else is. And I suppose if chat caught Olympicsmania, I'd probably keep up just to enjoy the excitement with others.

What is your family situation?  (Parents, siblings, children, etc.)

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Let's see, know both my parents, who are still around. Help out my paternal grandparents weekly; maternal ones are gone. I have one little sister (she's about the average age of peoples here), and one half brother I don't see very often; never really did, didn't even learn he existed until I was 12 or so. We all get along.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Not anymore. I used to chill out on the Adventurers! forum, though, where I met Mus back in the early aughts, and also read Antihero for Hire. And I had some small presence in the Kid Radd forums. Also used to read RPGWorld, and some of the Bob and George subcomics. Penny Arcade, too. Around...I dunno, '04 or so, I sorta stopped paying attention to most of them. I think it was a series of interrupted update schedules. That and dial-up. These days, once in awhile I read Order of the Stick, because I like laughing at 3e. Also, sometimes I'll look through Erfworld. Though the line of fics has kinda put me off. But yeah, by and large the era of the webcomic seems to have passed.

Your views on suicide?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) While, ultimately, it is the person's own choice, the vast majority of the time, the person is crippled by grief of some kind or another and just wants to pain to end by any means possible. Meaning that they aren't really in their right mind, and everything should be done to help this person.

What games, or series do you enjoy on handhelds?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I like them games what are fun. There's too many to list properly, and I've have to dig pretty deep into my rememory to be accurate, as they don't all come at once.

In general, do you prefer instrumentals, or do you think music should have lyrics?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I think, when all is said and done, I lean slightly toward instrumentals, as there are a number of bands who consider singing as an afterthought, and completely ruin the whole thing. And, as mentioned, whiny whitey vocals are pretty much the bane of music. It takes a hell of a song for those not to ruin it.|

Any favorite comic books?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I used to like a lot of Marvel stuff when I was in middle school. Then I discovered real books, and got put off by comics general shallowness, milking, crossing over everything, and so on.

Why is Kate Beaton so awesome?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Silly faces and history.

If you had the chance to change any one event in history to an outcome of your choosing, which would you choose and why?

(http:// I would do all in my power to make Reagan political failure. The damage he did to the political discourse, and the world, is inestimable.

Have you ever faced a natural disaster of any kind, such as tornadoes or other violent storms?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) The closest I had to deal with to that was with that one hurricane blew into Neohio in '08. Scared the piss out of me. After that, mostly white-outs and stuff.

Do you look up to someone as a hero, and who is it if you do?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I think the closest thing I have to a hero is Martin Luther King Jr. But admittedly, I've kinda gone past idolizing people.

What do you think the best virus protection out there is? (Mine was updating at the time, which made me think of this question)

Wish I knew. Malwarebytes seems to do it for me, though.

Who do you think the best US president was? The worst?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Best is very hard to say, pretty much every president has made terrible, far-reaching decisions of some kind that have directly gotten innocents killed, spread misery, abused the general ideals of the nation, and so on. The worst should be obvious.

Which touhou would made the best president?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Hina.

Who was worse: Reagan or W?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Reagan made W possible. And is still regarded as a political idol with worthy ideals. W, on the other hand, is properly disgraced. However, W got far more people directly killed more or less in the name of revenge. It's really hard to say which sack smells worse with you have many hundreds of tons of shit in each. But technically, Reagan is worse, which really just plays up how comic book villain bad he was compared to W's comic book villainry.

You mentioned Mythology as important, but what are your favorite books?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Big fan of discworld, big fan of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell, and dozens of others I cannot conjure to mind at the moment. Nonfiction, it's harder to say; there's no one single book that was overwhelmingly important. I'll tentatively say The Art of War, for more or less blowing the concept of total war out of the water in my much younger mind, and for being very clearly written in the process. But really this is just me flailing about for something solid to answer with.

Do you think the lack of desire for the public to read can be reversed?  Do you think it may ultimately have a negative consequence to not read?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I am pretty sure, statistically, book sales have not been better. A lot of the public's lack of desire to read comes from the fact they're ground into the ground 8-12 hours a day, and just want to relax when they get home. With only 8 hours a day to actually be a human being, reading falls to the wayside for many. As well, it can be difficult to know what to read; you can't really channel surf books. I would say not reading does have negative consequences; books go much more into depth on a subject than anything short of proper lectures.

CDs or digital?  Player of choice?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I much prefer digital. I like having all my music in one place and on shuffle. Player-wise, all I gots is my winamp. It does the jorb nicely, and has SNESAmp, which I greatly enjoy.

Favorite ice cream?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Cake batter. I can't not get it when I have the choice of it. It declares it's identity in my head like a screaming warrior out of 300, and I cannot resist.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) W. He's more likely to be drunk, or on something that dulls his sense of pain.

What type of clothing do you like the most?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I like lighter stuff that gives my neck room to breath. Lighter clothing in general, even when it's cold; I'll just layer something over them when it's too cold.

What was the last movie you saw in a theater?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) ...Spiderman 3, I think?

What would you do if the internet never came to be?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Probably knives. Typically I go with what I feel fits them.

How big is the town or city you live in, in terms of size? I mean to ask if it's got enough places to wander around to and explore.

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I live out in the countryside. The nearest town has a population of about 4000 according to the census, which I am convinced is a damn dirty lie; it's only about a fourth of that, and they included a whole lot of the surrounding rural area. As such, there really isn't much out here. Most of the land is cultivated, and what's left is not very interesting either, mostly cleared out fields with the periodic trash heap. Not to mention there would be a great deal of trespassing involved to get to anything that would be interesting. I tend to visit my grans on the weekend, though, and they live in a whitey'd out suburb that's been around for decades, so it has a nice mix of older style good houses and cardboard baby McMansions that look like horseshit.

For your apparent dislike of the US and its politics, why have you decided to remain in the country?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Well, first off I don't have a real choice. No money to leave with, nowhere to go where I'd be welcome enough to establish myself. Not being able to sleep proper severely limits my options, as well. And, on top of that, as I said earlier, the place I live is where I belong. My roots and the people important to me are here.

Is a bigger weapon better?

Do you enjoy photography at all?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Photography is not art because you don't make it with your own hands. You just coincidence into something. I really don't have a robust appreciation for it. I tend to, by default, regard it as less artistic and more record keeping unless I'm really forcing myself to try to regard it as art. I suspect this is me being the historian.

How did your interest in RPing come about?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I spent my early childhood in a bustling urban neighborhood. Got a taste for JRPGs. Then I moved out into the county in the middle of nowhere, and there was pretty much nothing to do at all and nowhere to go for miles. (And after those miles, still really nowhere to be). There wasn't much to do except read; as the Internets were a good 7-8 years away from being a thing I could have. RPing pretty much became a way to make a game out of the terrible stories floating in my head. And it let me indulge my taste for world minutia.

What does your family think of your hobbies of RPing and playing various games online and such, if anything?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) On one hand, they think it's really weird and sort of dumb, so I almost never elaborated on it. On the other, they were probably happy I wasn't out being a delinquent, like I probably would have been out of boredom and poverty otherwise.

Does she throw it like this? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKi4_N2iGXU)

Why don't you play Mafia?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Doesn't really appeal to me, there's no real solid basis to do anything, so it feels like firing shots in the dark and looking for typos.

What's the best name for a missile, ever?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Izchak.

If you were going to send a missile at someone, what kind if message/image would you paint on it?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png)On the front: If you can read this, reconsider your views on religion very quickly.

Why hasn't anyone made a mod where Marisa rides Mimi-chan instead of her broom?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I don't know, but that really is a shame.

Is there a reason why you call Koakuma "Petite" in your text adventures or is it just personal preference?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) A doujin whose name I completely forgot used it. It seemed like a very fitting actual name, as opposed to the standard one which is more of a description. It also let me name Koakumom Madeliene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madame_Pompadour)

What is the historical era or culture you most feel you don't understand?

Do you like writing on college-rule paper, wide-rule paper, blank paper, or another kind of paper?

If the Internet disappeared, what would you do?

When you look at a full moon, do you see a smiling man, or a rabbit pounding mochi?

Where did you get Izchak from?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) y u so not reed annsir?

What is the historical era or culture you most feel you don't understand?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Pacific Island nations. I know pretty much nothing about them at all.

Do you like writing on college-rule paper, wide-rule paper, blank paper, or another kind of paper?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) College ruled. Or legal pads if I'm note taking.

Can you define Steampunk for me?  Cyberpunk?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Steampunk is a setting that presume steam power never got replaced by petrolium powered engines. Typically, it goes on to assume that since we didn't get out of the steam age, other technologies that followed also were not able to happen. Except when they did. Anyways, since steam never went out of style, it also evolved, so you'll see steam-powered cards, punch-card internets, and stuff like that. Typically culture hasn't evolved from the 19th century either, leading to some "hilarious" old-timey racism in the form of the White Man's Burden type stuff, though more and more it's being used as a way to get fantasyesque technology in fantasy settings; since about FF6 or so.

Cyberpunk is a near future setting, which has had to evolve as time went on. In general, it is based on the idea that corporations have grown to be more powerful than nations, and the general government structure has vastly degraded. Corporations somtimes create their own corporate states; either de jure or de facto. The setting tends to be dark and gritty (and many writers take it too far and screw things up), where crime is common, life is cheap, and so on. Technology has advanced, thus the cyber bit, while society has degraded. Generally it works off assuming current trends continue onward. 80's sci-fi often featured the USSR as still there and still important; and Asia as the new cultural and financial hegemon. Then those thins collapsed, and in the 90's you'd see the EU as the new financial/cultural center, and so on.

Cyberpunk tends to have slightly more literary merit, as it's obstensibly about predicting possible futures rather than being complete fantasy as steampunk is. Both obviously have a great deal of potential. And tend to be handled by literary mooks. Good RP settings have come out them, though!

If the Internet disappeared, what would you do?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I would be a very sad panda.

When you look at a full moon, do you see a smiling man, or a rabbit pounding mochi?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I see a Rorschach Test.

Where did you get Izchak from?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) My son, I am very saddened (http://nethackwiki.com/wiki/Izchak) by your lack of knowledges (http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Izchak%27s_Blessing).

What kind of reforms would you like to see passed in the US in the next decade or so, and how big are the chances of them actually being enacted?

When something happens to you that's worth celebrating, what do you do to celebrate it?

If I wanted to start reading your text adventures, where should I start and in what order should I go in?

What's the meaning behind your signature?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png)It means you need to see the most poignant message of the NES era, and also play one of it's very bestest. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmh6056U0Nw)

What kind of reforms would you like to see passed in the US in the next decade or so, and how big are the chances of them actually being enacted?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Oh where to begin. Defund our James Supervillain Weapon Research, end the bush tax cuts for the wealthy, straight up no questions legalize gay marraige, create a half decent social safety net, get some alternative fuels research going with the savings from the military superweapons being defunded and yes that includes nuclear, and christ I could go for days about outlawing various kinds of corporate fuckery.

I don't see much of this happening. Maybe the gay marriage thing, since it's not really a money issue.

When something happens to you that's worth celebrating, what do you do to celebrate it?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Chill with my homies, usually. Celebration options are kinda limited. Haven't even gone out to eat for my birthday in ages.

If I wanted to start reading your text adventures, where should I start and in what order should I go in?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Chronological. Start with Patchy Quest, proceed forward. Ran Quest is kind of a sidestory and can be ignored. It's largely a retelling of UFO and explaining one of the little setting mysteries.

If you were to go into space, which five touhou would be on your ship's crew?

What do you believe to be the best energy source?

How would you feel if they built a nuclear reactor in your town? Within sight of your home?

Slightly personal questions:

When did you start using the Internet, and what for?
What is your most valuable possession?
How have your life goals evolved over the years, and what are they now?
If you were forced to move to another country, which would it be?

If you were to go into space, which five touhou would be on your ship's crew?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Kanako and Sanae, for miracles if necessary. Maybe Marisa, since she's already done some time as a cosmonaut (Or atmonaut, given SSiB suggested there wasn't actually space in Gensokyo.), and two of the faerie maids from SSIB because they also have experience, and managed not to break anything despite being stuck in a small room for weeks.

What do you believe to be the best energy source?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) The Right Wing spin machine. It can deny physics.

How would you feel if they built a nuclear reactor in your town? Within sight of your home?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) I would be wary, not because of the reactor itself but because of Neohio's habit of not properly funding safety aspects and maintenance in pursuit of more profits right now.

What types of food do you enjoy?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Meats, grains, and dairies. Pasta is a favorite; a lot of Americanize Italian things are.

Did I just make a repeated question?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Not this time. You may feel accomplished!

Do you watch much TV? If so, what do you watch? If not, why not?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) TV proper? No. It's sort of like going through a forum full of twelve year olds, the really dumb kind. Then there are commercials, which seem to be largely designed to irk me one way or another. In the end, I find Internet much preferable. This said, I do watch some serieses online. I mentioned a few earlier, but thinking on it, I left out It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. I also enjoy public TV documentaries, but I seldom go out of my way to watch them. By and large, I pretty much stopped watching TV as a whole in about 2002 at latest. TV exists as a gaming peripheral

Do you wear any hats other than that fedora you mentioned?

I don't usually wear hats, actually. But I do have an ushanka that a friend of mine got for me from China while he was doing missionary work. It is warm and comfortable, and also has a big red star that's perpetually off center.

When did you start using the Internet, and what for?
What is your most valuable possession?
How have your life goals evolved over the years, and what are they now?
If you were forced to move to another country, which would it be?

(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/917/doctorportrait.png) Imma skip some of these. But I first dabbled in about 1998 in the school computer labs, as I hung out with some computer nerds (One was teaching himself binary) and it looked neat. Of course, like half of it was blocked. Later one, I hung with another friend in 1999 or so, and he got me into the funner aspects like forums and webcomics and the things we did back then, so I got me a Netzero account for the laptop I got for college and started messing around. As Iived and still live in the middle of nowhere, there wasn't much else to do. And if  had to move, I'd probably free to Canada, Britain, Australia, or New Zealand. Whenever I could fit in easiest.
