It's around 2k pages, a full year long. Still totally worth reading. In many ways it's even wackier than Homestuck, and it has nearby weasels.

I've never been able to get into Homestuck much because most of the first act was such a fucking drag to go through and I don't really like skipping pages. The story gets much better with the inclusion of the other kids but it's still boring as shit urgh
I had the same problem when it came to Problem Sleuth. I didn't much care about the main guy or how he got out of his room, and there wasn't any awesome music, gifs, or flash to keep me captivated.

Ehhh I'm still following it but I feel like it's lost some of it's charm, mainly because the ratio of action to dialogue has shifted dramatically.
I think Hivebent in particular just dragged on and on, there should've been less trolls, especially since Karkat, Terezi, and Kanaya were the only ones relevant before it.
I thought Hivebent might have been a little too long to me too just because I was curious what was going on with the four kids, and there was a long stretch you went without hearing anything about them. But that was offbalanced somewhat by the fact that I read the entire comic only about a couple weeks ago, so I didn't have to wait around for updates ever and the whole thing read like a novel. That might have had something to do with it.

I think the really great thing about Problem Sleuth is that its depiction of the moon-logic puzzles of 90's adventure-games is 100% spot on. And then it applies the same moon-logic to the entire setting.
Really, I like Homestuck. I don't mind the text; the Pesterchum logs were always Homestuck's defining quirk. And yeah, it's not exactly the same as it was before, but sticking to one ... thing was never the point.

I created a Lil Cal object, which invisibly teleports throughout the various rooms of the Troll Sanctuary (i.e. you don't see him come or go, you only see him once he's there). Also, i'm not *incredibly* surprised at the turn of events, though it worries me that it signals the approaching end of Homestuck with characters being picked off left and right.. I've pretty much concluded that this is a Doomed Timeline.
1. God-Tier Aradia can time-travel.
2. Kanaya gets a message from Doc Scratch right before shit goes down. That is Unresolved Business, and it seems out of character-concept for Doc Scratch to send someone a message to someone who will die before reading it. I suppose it's possble that Karkat will look and it'll say "Hey, Karkat, sorry about Kanaya dying and all" but that feels too convoluted, even for Doc Scratch (or at least the wrong kind of convoluted).

2. Gamzee is a harlequin clown. (John hates his dad's apparent obsession with same)
3. Eridan is a wizard. (Rose [PASSIVE] AGGRESS her mom's wizards and stuff)
Each of the evil/killer trolls has attributes of something one of the kids hates with respect to their Guardian. Possible candidate for the fourth evil troll: Terezi (http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=003428), who likes plush dolls (c.f. Smuppets).
Somebody else mentioned: Eridan has a HATE!bone-bulge for Rose. He didn't have to kill Kanaya; he could have just absconded, since it's clear that she wasn't remotely a threat. He's trying to stoke caliginous feelings in Rose, knowing about their friendship, and he's probably going to boast about it to her.

Terezi also has (technically) succeeded in killing off all four kids at least once already. John and Jade and Rose from the one doomed timeline. And although she wasn't responsible for killing Davesprite, she engineered a second doomed timeline to kill Dave a little later on.
Also, did they ever explain why Terezi knew about Doc Scratch? Maybe she's been the master manipulator all along.

Yes, as Hussie said, if a Princess kisses a Prince or vice-versa, they get revived, given if they have their dreamselves. And every player is a Prince/Princess of their moon.

There was nothing saying that the dream self gets expended upon resurrection. I was just thinking of it as "You get free revivals by other party members unless your dream selves are dead."

Okay so like while we're being trolled, here's a bit of a theory, though I'm not really sure how it would affect the plot at all
Apparently there are 48 astrological signs in the troll's universe. There are 12 in the human's universe, those 12 being those of the players that created it (the trolls). Therefore, one can postulate that the troll's universe was created by a Sburb session of 48 players, and that if the kids actually succeeded they would make a universe with 4 signs.
There's a mathematical progression here: x*y=z, where x is the number of players in the session, y is a number that increases by 1 with each larger game, z is the number of players in the next session. You need at least two players to play Sburb (client/server). So starting with that we get:
2 x 1 = 2
2 x 2 = 4 (kids)
4 x 3 = 12 (trolls)
12 x 4 = 48 (trolls creator?)
48 x 5 = 240
So following this progression, the session that spawned the universe that spawned the session that spawned the troll's universe would have had 240 players. This could continue on to quickly reach the proportions of a real MMO (by the tenth game, you'd have over seven million players).
However, it's more interesting to think about the reverse; if the kids succeed in making a universe, that's pretty much the end of the line. Being so near to the minimum, could that have some significance about why the kid's session is (likely) a null session?

The trolls could've just decided to place themselves as astrological signs as a personal decision. I had this same theory for months now, though I couldn't really determine what mathematical system/thing is it, due to being bad in math, but I also noticed the thing about 4/12/48 having some kind of a relevance to each other. However, for some reason, I couldn't figure it out, that after 4 the next number would be 2, (as I said I cannot think mathematically) but a non-existent number (because it can't be smaller than that), and this being the reason for the null session. But now thinking about only 2 players.... Adam and Eve?

Definitely some symbolism to the rest of the story, seeing how a Scratch is when you drop the cue ball in a pocket. Actually, the "player" of the game in the Intermission lost, since they scratched while trying to drop the 8-ball (escaped from Snowman by dropping down the hole).

Someone elsewhere suggested that Vriska killing Tavros was basically the blackrom equivalent of "let's just be friends." (or, y'know, enemies in this case). And that really, Tavros and Kanaya had run out of character-arc; with the Matriorb hopesploded, Kanaya really had nothing left except "Hey Um Rose I Kinda Feel Red Feelings For You" "Sorry, it'll never work out, you're an alien girl in another universe" ":(", while on the other end of things, "Tavros gaining legit self-confidence would be interesting for about two seconds," as she put it.
One potentially good thing occurred to me, though: whoever takes down Vriska will be able to call themselves ... *puts on sunglasses* ... a Serket Breaker (http://people.rit.edu/~bss6378/instantCSI/).

I don't think that was mentioned anywhere, it's just an observation from a bunch of lower-caste people (Sollux, Vriska, Tavros, Aradia) having them and none of the higher-caste people having them (instead relying on sheer physical prowess/genius/laser guns/magic/whatever the fuck feferi does).

Reading about Vriska's perspective on troll culture is pretty interesting, all things considered.

These updates makes Vriska a more relatable and human character. Which is doubly interesting, becuase she's a troll, and one of the most vicious ones at that.

Man, I dunno. Characters like Vriska seem like the perfect candidates to show off how complicated/fucked up/interesting troll society is (at least compared to ours). Vriska's certainly a prime grade A bitch, but she's still so fun!
Like Vriska said, the most "human" troll is Karkat, both in personality and in, well, blood. We really see more of the troll world through him than anyone else, and our reactions tend to mirror his (though he's probably angrier than your typical reader).

It took me nearly two weeks, but I finally started reading this and have caught up with it all. I still don't really understand the hype behind all of this, but at the same time, I was intrigued enough to keep reading. (In fact, it wasn't until I happened to just randomly check it out and saw Eridan killing Feferi and Kanaya that I became interested enough to read this at all :P )
That said, I'm certainly interested in where the story is going now. =O

Like how Bec was made by combining Harley with the genetic first guardian sequence, Doc Scratch was made by combining of Cal, the Magic Cue Ball, and the genetic sequence. So the reason why Vriska had the cue ball all along is so it could be ectobiologied into Doc's parent. :3

Here's my theory. The denizens moved to make the first guardians so they'd bring about Lord English's revival and an end to the eternal cycle of Skaias. Kinda like FFX, Sin, and Spira. :v

Judging from their conversation, it seems to be pretty clearly stated that the huge crack in it is actually what they're SUPPOSED to do; just, they need to lengthen that crack all the way to the other side.
So, Rose has the Magic Cue Ball now... looks like it's the one Jade had, considering it's being given by a thingy wearing Jade's bedsheets.
According to this (http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=005201) panel, Rose's "blacking out" on the troll screens will happen while doing something with the Magic Cue Ball. This suggests we may see it happen in the next few sets of updates. She may be trying to read the answer inside using her crystal ball, which is in her other hand?
Also, now we know God Tiers are immortal, bar a heroic fight leading to their death (regardless of whether they are the hero or villain). This is a very interesting piece of information, because now we know that Vriska/John/Aradia cannot die outside of special circumstances.
Also, about whether Rose will gain God Tier or not, the trolls really can't know anything about whether she will or won't. Rose is blacked out on their screens. I wonder if death by blowing up the Green Sun (FINE) counts as a heroic death that would permakill her if she went and got God Tier beforehand? Although, with Aradia being there now, her time powers might be able to prevent having to die in the act anyway.

Gamzee is a parody of Juggalos that goes so far as to be a homage to Juggalos. He is at once parodying and celebrating the idea of the Juggalo. John is the same with people who like awful movies; or at least he was. Rose with people who like lousy fiction. And at least half of the trolls. And, SBaHJ with bad webcomics. They all take the aspects that are annoying and bad, and portray them in ways that are at once there to be laughed and to be perversely charming. It just seems weird to me that one accepts it for Gamzee et al, then rejects it for SBaHJ.

Fully attentive and battle ready, and he still gets stabbed as quickly as he did when non-God Tier AND asleep. It effectively sets the magnitude of the problem that Bec Noir poses.
Of course, Rose v Bec Noir is still up in the air.

It's also a major part of his character that he hasn't been given the opportunity to do anything for himself. Everyone who entered Skaia was faced with a harrowing situation that they managed to triumph over. Dave fell off a building while Bro did all the gruntwork slicing the meteor in half. Once in, he torrented a bunch of grist to buy stuff, and orange creamsicle Dave gave him a whole bunch of overpowered loots so things were never really a challenge for him. He farmed gold and grist with assurances that it would make him equivalent to John in power, but it's no stretch to see why Dave might not believe he earned anything he's received so far.
In fact, has there been any situations where Dave has been in danger yet? I don't recall.

Also, the only Daves to encounter anything of any danger are the doomed Daves. Doomed Dave 1 gets stabbed by Droog like he was nothing, Doomed Dave 2 becomes the kernelsprite and actually stands up to Jack, and Doomed Dave 3 gets cut down by Jack as soon as he walks off the quest bed.
It's like constantly facing a reminder of "Hey look, this is what would happen if you tried doing being the Hero. Stabs and death."

Making a flash isn't anywhere near as easy as you seem to think it is, and something like this also happens to require music and art that Hussie may have to wait on from other sources.

The one pet peeve I have with that flash is when the portrait of Pyralspite comes up the second time. It's only on the screen for a split second before it zooms in on the face, but the borders of the image on either side look really sloppy and blows my immersion out of the water.

No, not compression artifacts. As in, the image of the dragon didn't fill up the entire screen and about a fifth of the screen on either side was red/black border.

IIRC, Lord English can only be killed by exploiting glitches. It's possible that this is rather leading up to his defeat instead.
