Assuming the system hasn't changed a lot, usually challenges are decided by the next level up. IMs determine IP challenges, IDs determine IM challenges, and Mods determine ID challenges.

3. Actually, Purvis and I have worked out the details of the challenge instead of letting Theorin have that kind of advantage by setting his own terms. He doesn't know what's planned, either.

There's a great deal more to being a maiden then simply not being able to get laid. If that were the only criteria, everyone would have edit powers. Oh no, there's quite a great deal more it. A maiden must have a keen eye, a proper wit, and a good ear. Let us see if you can demonstrate this.

This post makes no sense. Theorin agreed to this contest. And none of the people actually involved have any problems with the process involved-- if nothing else, BMP is doing very well to make himself known here by coming in with a bang, which is enough reason for me to give him IP and see how much this contest makes CPMC exciting again.
Stop being focused on the facts and just have fun. No one else has a problem with this, not even BMP as you see.

Well, Theorist accepted the terms, he was never "forced." And it is the right of anybody to make an IP challenge, regardless of seniority. And we just purged most of the Idiot Hiearchy, so some shaking up of the whole order isn't that out of place.

I think Kilga's point was that IP was pretty much just handed to you for your sheer brazenness, while normally it's earned somehow, so part of the counterbalance would be a penalty of sorts. And personally, I think it makes it more challenging and more fun if there's something extra at stake.
And I agree with Ruro that the point of this is fun. I'm just glad to see something happening in the IH.

I'm not objecting to doing something to shake up the hierarchy (but I thank you for pigeonholing my stance!). I'm objecting to inconsistency. This is a zero-risk, high-reward situation for Baka, an opportunity literally no one else has ever had before, and one people are going to start pointing at in the future, going "well why don't I get this?".
I'm perfectly fine with Baka getting to skip the IP step and go straight to the IM challenge - but he has to put something of his own on the line. And no, taking away the IP he got fifteen minutes ago is not a punishment.

I admit Unfunny was borne of a lack of creativity and would not object to some other, more creative punishment. How I determined odds:
Frankly, I don't really know. Moerin has a long history with CPMC, a user who tries to exude tilde moe along with other quirks. Most recent tasks have involved trying to undermine the Communist takeover of CPMC with a country of his own. Daring stuff!
BMP however, has come on strong in his short time here at MotK. Sticking almost strictly to the CPMC section, he is an idiot to the core. However, with idiocy possibly comes ingenuity and while there isn't enough of a history to gauge him by, his ability to spur this challenge forth and eagerness to ascend portrays him as a contestant not to be underestimated.
In conclusion though, I believe the veteran contestant solidly holds the edge with numerous advantages including knowing the nature of such IH challenges, having spent some time in Alice's, and being more familiar with the style of Purvis' humor.

However, with challenger BMP on the ropes, this is do or die for him. After seeing one round's worth of action and judging, we can expect a better performance this time around. Moerin will likewise need to pick up his game a little to close it out due to the pedestrian score his previous entry earned, lest the competition goes into a winner take all Round 3.
Neither contestants' art style has overshadowed the other in any way, leaving the deciding factor once again wittiness. But due to slightly nervous chattering by BMP in the challenge thread and Moerin's familiarity with the Ijiyatsu project and possible discussion of unusual danmaku, I do think the veteran still holds a slight edge over our newcomer.

Truth be told, the only thing I've ever read in PSL was Day Planners, which of course is awesome, but then again I dislike ff in general, so my opinions aren't worth much. :derp:
DP is different because its format requires less actually reading and more imagination and interpretation while still conveying a lot of information and funny. It is less "work" to read and more stimulating at the same time.

You have all the power you can get to edit at your fingertips and mangle these these songs to fit your desires, but you may not edit the video itself; only the audio. Preserve the sound effects, and make sure they don't drown out your music.

Bitmap has admitted that he's not that confident in his writing skills, and to be blunt, it kind of shows. Conversation and dialogue seems to be his strong point, and his talent in exposition leaves much to be desired.
For actual writing talent, Bitmap scores a 6 out of 10.
He managed to keep the story short and sweet, finishing it out in one post while still surpassing the required word-count. The interposed narrative blurbs from Mokou are a nice touch.
For content, Bitmap scores an 8 out of 10.
Robotic Moon Rabbits (from the Moon) help maintain the air of cyberpunk, as well as a computer-filled underground base of operations. The use of lead-bullet rifles mixed with danmaku is a little unusual, but PEW PEW ZAPPY GUNS don't necessarily have to be present for it to be cyberpunk.
For adherence to the prompt, Bitmap scores a 10 out of 10.
Bitmaps total score is 24 out of 30.
Next we have the defending champion's entry (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,7771.0.html).
Moerin is a long-time veteran of the boards, and could have been assumed to have known where to go with his story to win the audience and judges over, but instead did not attempt to use this advantage. He opens with the death of Satori, a risky gambit that could've turned readers away from his story, and follows along with a rather out-of-character portrayal of the other characters used for his piece. Despite this, he shows a wonderful control of the written language, maintaining flow with ease and painting a vivid picture.
For actual writing talent, Moerin scores an 8.
Moerin easily surpasses the minimum word count, but because the story is not yet finished I can't award full points. Also he killed Satori. Jerkface >:|

Third Eyes being explained away as portable computers wired directly into the mind is an interesting touch that helps maintain the air of cyberpunk, and the neon lights described on the buildings comes right out of a campy 80s cyberpunk movie. Unfortunately, with how little of the story we have here, it seems less like cyber-tech and more like a ritzy, albeit grimy and dirty, vision of how the year 2000 would've looked according to Disney if it were on crack. Lucky Moerin, this score is all or nothing.

Moerin's video had some original in it and even if all the moments didn't synch up with the song the imagery of super-byakuren vs reimu was actually pretty funny.

Embodiment of Scarlet Fail was already supposedly funny beforehand, although I never found it that funny myself (I am not big on Schadenfreude). Actually, I predicted that someone was gonna use it, it was just too obvious.
Bitmap just added what I would call "generic funny hijinx music", which does not make it much funnier and does not take a lot of creativity. Although I do applaud him for cutting down on the volume at the end as to prevent earrape.
Moerin's video was a) somewhat creative and b) made me actually giggle. It was not the greatest comedy of all time, but it was the superior entry in my eyes.

On the technical account, Bitmap's was better built. Not sure about Blue Ball Factory, but the others were pretty fitting. Could've used better timing on the SMB Death theme (It's supposed to be right on death and a hard cut), but that was the only real problem with it.
Moerin, however, uses the very fitting mixture of Superhuman "Byakuren Hijiri" and Superman music. This will result in a lot more votes for a much less technical video. To be honest, I expected more in a video from a veteran IP who controls their own destiny.

Bitmap
Using a video by Kefit, whose timeless rage has rung in our ears for much time, has only made minor alterations to the source video. Bitmap has taken two tracks along with a sound effect and edited them into the video and called it a day.
The video is a failed replay of EoSD's Stage 6, but setting it apart from other gameplay videos of a similar nature is the player's frustration and anger. In the end, Kefit gives a yell of defeat, and whines like a little bitch.
So what has Bitmap done? In the first half of the video, Bitmap has overlayed the original audio track with a song from Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0txn-qTdF8Y). I never heard this before, so I thought it was very well-composed, and I liked it. This first half kept me from closing the tab, but then again, I have to see through these two videos (no matter how boring) so that I could write my opinion about them later on.
In the video, the original theme music is even more drowned out. At some points, the inserted theme is actually higher than Kefit's voice on the mic.
During the second half, Bitmap inserts another track. (I can't remember the name, but everyone who uses the Internet has probably heard it at least once.) My impression of the video changed from promising to clich?d. I must admit, though, the chance in music matched the humorous theme of the video, and better focused on Kefit's voice. The first theme drew my attention to the stage and to Remilia herself, for the theme suggested an evil, ingenious plan to me.
Towards the end, when Kefit is defeated, the video is rudely halted by a Super Mario sound effect that we all know very well. First, you are defeated, second, you game over'd at Touhou. I did feel that there should have been a clear pause between the two sounds to create emphasis.
The minor details: The video is grainy and in low resolution. Although this can't be remedied, it's there. Bitmap has lowered the volume of Kefit's voice at some parts of the video, so I am grateful for that.
Conclusion: Bitmap has taken a video of an elite Touhou gamer playing the final stage of EoSD and failing towards the end because his friend (though probably not his friend anymore) ruined his concentration countless times. Maybe he was just so focused on winning that he didn't pay attention? Don't know, but it doesn't matter.
Bitmap added two tracks to the video, and a sound effect at the end. Although it meets the requirements, I was expecting much more from him since the start.
There is no creativity in this video, it is completely unoriginal and it's nothing new to what I've already seen. I do praise you for not messing it up, since some sorts do tend to try too hard, but still...It's far from what I've been expecting from an IM submission.

Kind of ironic, though. The player is fighting against Byakuren, who is supposed to be great and powerful like Superman, but she's getting creamed by the player!
Although the player isn't shooting, he is overconfident and is instead timing out her spell card, dodging everything like a pro. Byakuren is not scoring any hits, and she is losing time. What part of this is like Superman? Like I have said before, the idea from this video comes from nothing more than a use of casual wordplay.
At the end, we are greeted by an illustration of Byakuren, in a Superman costume.
The minor details:
Black borders all around the video. This is usually caused by letterboxing inside of the video editor, submitting into Youtube, and because Youtube thinks the video is out of proportion, will then add more letterboxing to the video so that it can fit inside the aspect ratio of the player. The result: we have four rectangle around the video.
Also, the final product is devoid of all original sound effects and music. I thought the rules were to at least keep the sound effects intact.
Other than that, it is a clean job.
Conclusion:
The concept is too simplistic to be effective, but that's not the worst thing. The video demonstrates exactly the opposite of what the audio is implying.
Maybe your intention was to be ironic, but it would be too subtle for anyone to notice anyway. When you consider all these factors, you have a poor result that should hardly qualify as an IM submission.

Final Decision:
Both seem like last minute ideas produced in very short time. The video doesn't even feature gameplay of the contestants, rather using an outside source and editing it instead. I would have graded a submission much higher if the video were actually a recording of the contestants playing in Lunatic.
I will have to give my vote to Bitmap for at least trying to be funny, although the quality and level of work isn't so much different than Moerin's.

Yeah, um, I really don't deserve to win this round at all. I spent the past few days trying to think of something fun and witty to enter, but not only did my mind go pretty much blank in that area, I found out that I'm actually really really bad with video software. So I ended up entering my one test video I made to check if I could actually get the software to work in the first place. I was actually planning to forfeit until I realized that crap is better than nothing.
So... Yeah.

But compared to iMovie '08+, I think it's a lot better. YOU MUST never remove the time line from a video edit program. It is the most important thing.

Get Adobe Premiere
It's the most powerful editing software you can get. There's also Final Cut (Only for Macs) and Sony Vegas. (Easier to use, costs MUCH less, but Premiere is better.)
