Hey people, this will be my first time hosting a competition of sorts, and I want to assure that there are people willing to join before all else.
What I am going to do is to host a coloring competition.
YES
With this being the case, recently I have done a selection of three fine girls which I drew, before and after. What I want to YOU to do is to color them.
But not just color, even if ZUN was capable of making some really cute colors on girls (including Zombie Reimu) ; so SHOULD YOU be able to interpret a color for the characters.
I have three girls.
These are your charges!
Color them well.

In which the best of three will be colored ACCORDING TO YOUR OWN DESIGN will be judged hopefully by a handful of selected individuals
To make things easy, I am gonna try my level best to cut them out, and give you a PNG file to work with, failing which you can always upload as a JPG
The best combination of colors I would suggest would be like those you see in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody player colors, combine, create, mutilate your own.
The three girls who come out best (preferably not flat colors) in whichever program, media, traditional tools you use and uploaded (preferably in full size) will win:
1 x DVD of an anime,
currently I have:
Strike Witches Season 1 and 2 box edition (and if I feel like it, you can have my yet LIMITED unused Major Sakamoto huggable dakimakura cover!) ; Mahou Shoujo Madoka + 1 LIMITED special booklet from Megami Magazine featurette ; and Arakawa Under The Bridge Season 1 and 2 Megabox edition DVD with Music CD containing OP/ED of two seasons.
YES, the prize is luxurious, each is worth about $60 - 70 in Amerikkan dollarz. and I am giving it away.
ALL you need to TO DO is to interpret a color of a character in Touhou that I drew in YOUR OWN WAY.
There are no rules, other than NOT copy each other or being a shithead. (or stealing it from DevArt)

it is available in 4 languages as far as I know, Thai included.

Well, DVDs have region coding (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code) to prevent piracy (yeah that worked out well :V).
This, along with the NTSC/PAL divide, are quite annoying to deal with outside that particular locale.

I will work on that bit once I cleared my head a little more.
The way I see it, the quality and the design works well = win.
so if you can do both, your chances surely are higher.
of course, imo, if there is a really good coloring/ good combi of colors, said entry should win should there be no other 'more appealing' entries so to be said.

Established Touhou characters? Huh. I thought we were going to be coloring your original characters. Nevertheless, it should be fun.
So, just to clarify, we're creating our own color schemes for the characters like the alternate color palettes from SWR? And yeah, we'll need a deadline.

Yes, you are creating your own color scheme as a contest theme.
I could make it so that you can choose to color MY characters or established Touhou characters, let's have a vote on that if you all would. PM me if you wish for this matter or post here.
and the deadline? how's 1 and half months? surely that is enough, personally I prefer it to be 1 month.
that is 31 days from today, which is September 13th, hence the deadline would be October 14th. (my time)

That's up to you, whether you prefer the contest feature Touhou characters or your own. I just thought that you were going to use some original characters, since they offer more flexibility on color schemes. But we're good with the current selection. :3

I ended up having to put the picture I'd chosen on DeviantArt, due to the fact that as large as it was, it wouldn't print properly, so I ended up shrinking it in GIMP, where it still wouldn't print. End result was posting it on DA and crediting it to the original artist best I could. I hope you don't mind. It was the only method I could come up with of actually printing it on a single sheet.

PNG format does not display well in some browsers, opening in PS or image viewers should be fine.
Most certainly, I said in the first post it is up to you to redesign the character, their patterns, their colors, even their skins. Make her chocolate or having green skin is perfectly fine!

just keep in mind you can only win once, because let;s give a chance for others okay. (however, let's make this even more worthwhile, I am willing to dispense more prizes if I really like your entry!

I would like if you could to remove it after printing or put it in scraps. personally I just don't like people uploading my stuff to that site.

I would suggest only one palette per girl. because that is what it was, your entry. Multiple entries will be for your own self only. you should choose the best entry and go with it.

you are free to print it, use coloring pencil, paintbrush, crayons if you like, the interesting of design can work too.
imo, if you want, you can print it, and draw on designs you think should make it more interesting, black and white has its own charm as well.

What I like best about this entry is the color of the autumn obviously, not only does it bring out the second player charm of Futo-hime, the bright colors match well with smiling Futo standing there. The best bit about this is certainly also the color of the skin, it is perfect (unlike mine which was overly pinkish), the color of the faded yellow hair is desirable, but what is also lacking here is patterns which I said in the beginning was critical, because other than colors, what shows off your creativity is how you change an existing character into an even better one (or worse) depending on what you are aiming for. (Evil futo with black clothing and red eyes? <3)
I dunno what sortware was used, the end result was really bad with all those pieces and blocks over a nice PNG file... (and I am pretty sure downloading it and opening it in PS and Corel Draw is fine.) A bit lazy on that part so minus points~ zan~nennnn~~~ Nonetheless, the effort put into making this pretty version of Futo, the shadowing especially is very very appealing!

Formless God is no stranger to coloring, and this shows in the lines of the hair and the detail invested into Suwako's pattern, it is prejudice but I almost am certain that this is a win by any and all standard, skin color is great, and strangely so Suwako is no longer a frog but a gentle Koi in the pond? This is wonderful, exactly what I ordered and it is a testament of creative juices to interpret the character as your own and doing it with a refinement like no other.

There is nothing that comes close to what I imaged Time Lord Sakuya to be, this is exactly what I think will happen when it landed in Aoshi's hands and it has indeed not been disappoint. The color is solid, the folds as beautiful and shadowed as perfectly as expected. The color choice is wonderful, bold red with black marks a bit of Sakuya's original seriousness and badassery, the amount of work in here shows refinement, but what is best is the time pattern, fitting and unmentionably cool!
Futo however... looks under the weather, is it because of her pale pale skin? or maybe the purple hair didn't quite as well matched, nonetheless, the effort was there and I am not objecting it. The patterns could use some work, but as usual Aoshi certainly spared very little detail on the work itself. Praises, but not quite.
So all in all, I am torn between all three.
All three are winners if I would have it, so indeed, I let that be so.
All three participants (and only three at that, and ALL ARTISTS++++++, I was expecting more from you guys!)
