Personally I like 10D. Even though we have MS, IN, SA; TD just seems really bland and lifeless for a new game.

Obviously excited myself, especially now that I know Touhou 13 will be a standard vertical shooter (because I don't want to wait another year for one). Why the latter point? I realized that even after something like 15 months with the series, this will be the first integer Touhou game released since I first joined it. I'll make sure to stay on top of this one.

And furthermore, is that Youmu?

I like 10D. TD is a bit too generic, and XD is, well, a bit strange as a game acronym.

I am really wondering at what the lower difficulty entails. I am guessing that it will be like IN in that playing normally is simpler than usual but the gameplay mechanics involve more strategy.

Also, I am liking the illustrations - a decent improvement over UFO and still retains his style!

So 廟 is byou and 猫 is byou...right?  When I saw that 廟 was pronounced byou I was starting to think Orin would be in this game.  Orin had a lot of evil spirits floating around her, but this wouldn't be too far out of her league, right?  Did ZUN ever say there were going to be new characters, or do you think he'd use old ones in this game?  I'm thinking new characters, but...

Yeah, seems like it.

Looking at the screenshots, the skull in the left corner has three symbols around it--one blue, one red, and one green. The title screen indicates that the new enemies also come in those three colors. Shooting down the new enemies probably fills the respective symbols around the skull. The fourth screenshot makes it look like once those three symbols are filled, the skull lights up (which appropriately conveys the amount of destruction hypers typically bring), and you'll be able to activate a hyper for a limited period of time.
