EDIT: Of note is that theshim never got back IP after given birthday powers. Add him to it.
I'm impressed you noticed!

But yeah, /in, even though I've no bloody clue what Liar Game is beyond the name.

I really can't make the time commitment for this, and seeing as there's no more MANLINESS (at least not the official version, LIVE MANLY DIE MANLY  8) ) and that I can't figure out for the life of me what this is, how to play it, and how the hell I'll be able to participate given that A) SM.org is blocked at work, B) Webchat is also blocked at work, C) Real Life is interfering its dastardly tentacles, I'm out.

I wish I had the time and access to participate in convoluted, unfamiliar contests that may or may not be Mafia Remixed.  >_>  <_<

Give my spot to someone who'll appreciate it.

Sitting idle with a position just asks to have it yanked from you. First google entry for Liar Game will give you an idea of what it is. As I said, the rules I'll be using are mostly the same if you want to know what you might play. With the current 20 players, I can tweak the setup a bit so that IRC won't be needed. Players only need to be on for their turn, I have to be on all the time.

MJP: Why not at least give it a shot? Even if you wind up being unable to participate at some point, you've got nothing to lose.

Don't feel alienated for being unfamiliar with Liar Game. It seems like a decent amount of the other participants (myself included) are in the same boat.

Okay, that's 24 with HakuSM. Like I said, if you can't be that active for the first round, it's still okay. I've got a bit of an unstable access at home due the the ISP being silly but I'll try keep things up to date as much as possible via phone posting if it comes to that.

Contraband Game

There was once two neighbouring countries who were friends. Their people shared wealth and trade for any years. One day war broke out and border control was enforced. As one of the people who have money sitting on the other side of the border, you need to smuggle your cash back into your own country. Do whatever it takes to fool the inspector and take back what is yours!

Players are divided into Moon Country and Sun Country. One side will send a smuggler and the other provides the inspector. The smuggler will go to the bank machine in the opposite country to withdraw the amount of money they wish to smuggle. Each player starts with a cash card that has 400M in the bank which they must bring home and 100M of personal cash. The maximum amount of money you can carry per trip is 100M.

In each confrontation, the inspector must decide to allow the smuggler through by saying ##Pass. Or by calling for a check with ##Doubt and their guess of how much is being smuggled. If the inspctor calls Pass and there is money in the smuggler's bag, it is successfully smuggled. If the Inspector correctly calls Doubt and the exact amount, the money is confiscated. However, if the inspector calls Doubt and guesses less than the amount of money being smuggled, it counts as a Pass. If the inspector calls Doubt for more than the amount being smuggled, the money is still confiscated but the inspector pays half of the over guessed amount as compensation. For example: Calling Doubt 100M on a smuggle attempt of 20M means the 20M is confiscated and the inspector pays 40M in compensation to the smuggler.

The game will run for 60 rounds of alternating turns between the two countries. At the end of the rounds any money still in the bank will be split among the players of the residing country. The 500M given to each of the players at the start will need to be returned. Any shortfall will result in punishment. If a player has more than 500M, it is theirs to keep or spend as they wish. The team with the higher combined total is declared the winner. Any players on the losing team that have made a profit may also proceed to the next round.

Please indicate in thread who will be the representative sent for the round of smuggling or inspecting. PM me the amount of cash being smuggled and whose cash card it was drawn from. The confrontation between smuggler and inspector will take place in #liarmaiden on ppirc, which is also accessable via the webchat. Only the two players and a game official are allowed to be in there. Everything being discussed in there is private until the inspector makes a decision. Afterwards it is up to the players if they wish to divulge what happened. I will announce the results of  the confrontation in thread.

The teams are split as follows:
Sun Country
1 Baity
2 Anthony
3 Donut
4 JT
5 Admiral Skye
6 HakureiSM
7 Kitten4u
8 MSB
9 headcrabs
10 axman
11 theshim
12 Krim

Moon Country
1 Suikama
2 Gpop
3 Arashi
4 Moerin
5 Neoserela
6 Polaris
7 Zengar
8 copyrighted
9 Prody
10 Sana
11 Sakana
12 Valentia

Moon Country will send the first smuggler and Sun Country provides the inspector. Good luck!

Sounds...interesting.

So, does each team have to come to a consensus on who goes that round?  If so, I vote JT for first Inspector.

Consensus is not required as profit/loss is entirely your own. If you want to use someone else's card or let them use your card, then you need to make the proper arrangements yourself.

Missed that you could smuggle money from someone else's card.  But that doesn't answer as far as who is doing it.  Or is it just first come first served?

(Also started reading Liar Game thanks a bloody lot.)

First come first served. Just like in the story. It doesn't matter where the money came from, the money that leaves the confrontation room belongs to the person that leaves with it.

You're free to let someone else take your turns for you, but that means they have access to your money. It's all within the rules, just give me the proper notification (e.g. A PM saying that you give your card to <player>)

Consider my brain fried already @_@

I assume we can only smuggle full tens, like 10,20,30 etc.? Or is the choice completely free?

Minimum of 1M, maximum of 100M is what you can carry. What you do at the bank is your business.

That makes a very, very, very big difference.

EDIT: One more question: if the smuggler carries 1m and the Inspector claims 2m, does the Inspector pay half a million?  In other words, I assume the smuggler can only carry whole numbers, but can the Inspector have to pay halves?

I awake and will be ready in #liarmaiden in about 2 hours

Edit: I'm only going to be there once reps have been chosen in thread.

A note about smuggle amounts. If you do smuggle, the min is 1M. I mean no halves/fractions. You can choose to carry nothing as well.

Edit 2: The confrontation room is the SOLE point of contact between players of the 2 countries. It's the place to be if you want to make personal deals or trades.
