I didn't like Air either.

Clannad, though, lives deep in a very cozy place of my heart.
No anime made me cry and rage harder than After Story. And boy it was excellent.

 I'm currently marathoning School Days.

Just finished episode 5, and I'm almost droping this shit

edit: finished 6, seriously what's with this shit
So the bitch in denial and the selfish prick who never considered thinking about others have crazy sex while the only honest and pure person gets all the shit and sadness thrown at her face
How can something like this be enjoyable to watch?
I hate this, and today is the worst day I could pick to watch something like this
To think I picked this up to try and cheer myself up.

I wouldn't know before watching, would I?

I just made the general assumption that usually works, anime -> enjoyable.

This thing is like Toradora fused with Onegai Teacher minus space ships and happiness plus a lot of crap and people being pricks just because

(yeah I know it's earlier than Toradora)

Well School Days does have quite a reputation of being a bloody train wreck with the whole "nice boat" meme but I guess you walked into it rather innocently :3

Well yeah that was basically what I thought
"Wasn't that nice boat thing from School Days? Well, can't be that bad then"

Also the last anime I watched with School in it's title was School Rumble, so I guess that also had an influence
Welp, at this point I don't even give a shit anymore

I just finished it. Can I hunt down and chainsaw to death anyone involved in it's production now?
I mean, I get even why Twilight is bad, but this thing makes the Ramstein airshow crash seem like a small cut to the finger or something.

edit: But that is indeed a nice boat. It looks like mine, except a bit bigger.

Are you being sarcastic or not? Because your recommendations have been really spot on, for me, so far. So I want to be sure I understand you right before I decide whether or not to watch this.

School Days is a very deliberate deconstruction of the 'High School Harem Romance' genre. If you want to see how it turns out and laugh when you compare it to other high school harem romance anime, keep watching it.

Interestingly, as much hate as MANkoto gets, his actions are what most healthy teenage high school students would do given the same situation. He was just a regular dude, completely satisfied with gazing at Kotonoha from a distance. Then 90% of the named girls in the show start throwing themselves at him.

It's certainly no masterpiece imo, but I still found it entertaining. The first half of the series for me was really... eh. But the second half was pretty fantastic
Spoiler:
because everything begins to spiral out of control, and batshit-insane yandere Kotonoha just made the show for me

I'm basically with Matsuri as it's not "ZOMG THIS IS AWESOME," but it's definitely very interesting to watch, at least the latter half of the show. As someone who's played the game before the anime, and having a LOT of experiences where eroge anime adaptations are extremely crap, School Days does not disappoint, especially what they did with the ending of that. However, the latter half does feature some disturbing content, in the least, so if you aren't into that sort of mindfuck I'd suggest against watching it.
Spoiler:
I did enjoy how the anime managed to fuse like three different bad endings at once though, and sometimes I wonder how the anime turned out if they used the Kotonoha Suicide Bad End

I don't know how some people here seemed to have enjoyed it, but it starts basically as a regular high school romance, and then what the fuck what the hell that doesn't make any sense whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

his actions are what most healthy teenage high school students would do given the same situation.
No way in hell they're not :/
No one acts like that, good or crazed evil, as it doesn't even make sense. Nobody would react to his actions the way everybody did either.
The whole story is so delirious and dumb it feels just like a bad dream, where things go a strange impossible path because well, it's your mind playing with itself.
And then the whole story evolving from Toradora romance to Higurashi ahahahahahahahadeath is just :/

Also Trance, I sure hope the VN made more sense.
