USC ~Ultimate sunflower creation~ Translation plans
« on: January 11, 2013, 08:19:54 AM »
Hello people.

I am thinking of translating USC and its manual [the easiest part]
The game is rather light on text so there should not be any problems.
But I need your help.

Someone who is more experienced in this could help me with Game resource unpacking from "data.dat" file.
I dont know much about resource packers in games like this.
If there is a tool that lets one to unpack all data and repack it after that i would be glad to know about it.
I really hope it is not some encrypted format...

Hmm... I can't help you on the unpacking, you'll have to get the packer for the .dat file that was used to pack it. In other words, you have to reverse what the people did to get the file packed.

However, I can help with the translating of the manual, perhaps do it all. If you could upload it, I'll be happy to do the honors.

Yeah. After hours of  work I can say that the developers packaged the file themselves using an unknown method. I was hoping they were using some common or semi-common resource packager type, but all my attempts to unpack it with available known tools and scripts failed.
And I am not skilled enough to reverse engineer the method.

As for the manual.

Here it is.
If you want to translate it i will only be happy.
But I must admit that the manual is kinda lacking in information. It explains only the very basic concepts of the game.
I guess like in Minecraft and Harvest moon/Rune factory games player must figure out recipes and mechanics on their own.
