>"Well, you were in the ballpark, captain."
>Is there baseball?
>If not, say, "Well, you were close, captain."

>There are certainly games played with balls, at any rate.

>"You think close is gonna do it?" she asks you dubiously, then turns back to the speaking tube? "You sure about that, Ishi?"
>"Uh... not really," she replies. "Why's it matter, anyway?"
>Murasa turns back to you, frowning. "See the problem?"

>"If I may?" Indicate the tubes.
>Close distance between us and captain and speak into the captain's tube, "With that date, I can get a look at your beurecrat's books with my own eyes, be that much closer to settling this. If there's a record of sale in her books, then we could be out of here within the hour."
>"I realize it was a little thing ages back, but, maybe if you put your heads together, you can nail it down?"

>"I realize it was a little thing ages back, but, maybe if you put your heads together, you can nail it down?"

>Murasa stands aside slightly. "Sure, go ahead."
>You speak into the tube and describe the situation.
>"Who's this?" Ishi asks.
>Murasa leans back over the mouthpiece. "It's that Seeker I mentioned. She's just come back from speaking with Customs again. Maybe even made a little headway."
>"Oh, hey there!" Ishi says brightly. "Nice work saving the Melon Bowl. I owe you one."
>"Not now, Ishi," Murasa adds dryly.
>"Sorry, boss." There is a pause, then you hear the kappa mumbling on the other end, too quietly to make out. "Let's see now..."
>"It was the same year we shored up the secondary rotors, wasn't it?" Murasa asks.
>"What? No, that was way before that. You remember that aether storm and those damn statues?"
>"How the hell did I forget that?" Murasa says wryly. "So that was, what... 571?"
>"570. Fixed those babies up 11 years ago now." You can still hear a note of pride in her voice. "Remember, that was half the problem when we got the damn permit. They couldn't figure out how to class us."
>"Oh yeah..."
>"They forgot to make a bracket awesome enough for us to fit in," Ishi adds. You can practice hear her smirking. ...wherever she is.

>You smile. It's a nice change of pace these days to get a bit of spontaneous gratitude from a stranger.

>"So where's that leave the permit?" Murasa asks into the speaking tube. "Two years isn't exactly way before..."
>"Eh, maybe it was three," Ishi says. "Or four. I dunno."
>"Not helping, Ishi..."
>"Hey!" she protests. "Not my department. I leave the paperwork up to you and Sleepywings. What're you even asking me for, anyway?"
>"Because you're here and she's not," Murasa grumbles.

>"Why do I get the feeling there's a story behind that nickname?"

>"Well, she's a moth youkai," Murasa says, "which explains the wings. But Ishi's pretty much the only person that calls her that. Her name's Neu."

>Certainly more pleasant to work with than the alternative.
>Murasa nods. "And big fuzzy antennae." She sketches them through the air with her hand. "Should be hard to miss, if you see her. But, uh, does that mean you're gonna go try finding her now or something?"

>"Actually, that kinda sounds right..." Murasa says. "So it would be that June or July."
>"I think it was April," Ishi says.
>Murasa grimaces. "I though you just said you weren't paying attention to all that boring stuff?"
>"Yeah, well..."

Reminder to check with this Kappa next time we have time. Anyone else remember that part we found back in Fortress Fairy WAY back in thread one? Maybe Ishi here can tell us what it is.
