What are the essential TH MP3s to have?

I'm putting together a list of must-haves for my new MP3 player.  Touhou is in there.  I need to know the very essential tunes - fan mixes, IOSYS, what have you.

Input and DL links are much appreciated.

I'm not sure about MoTK's policy about DL links to other Touhou albums, so I'll just assume that's it's the same with Touhou games as with that Lossless Music Torrent that in the site. I want also want to point out, you already have a Meiling avatar, your posts already 1000+, signed up for 4 months already, know this site's existence, shouldn't you be somewhat knowledgeable about the fanbase already? I thought "Essential Touhou MP3s" is supposed to be basic about the fanbase.

But oh well...

Overdrive by IOSYS.

Border of Death by IOSYS.

Marisa stole the precious thing by IOSYS.

They're so common on youtube I don't even have to provide a link.

Spoiler:
Are youtube downloaders illegal? Google for a youtube downloader.

Sorry I can't help you much.

They're on YT, yeah, but the accompanying MP3s are where it's at.

Also, I think that 98% of those posts and 99% of that time is in CPMC... >_>  <_<

I am highly unknowledgeable about the essentials of the fanbase or where to find the tunes, hence I ask.  I've grabbed a couple of C76 music torrents but that's a pretty high signal-to-noise ratio as I listen to it all and find the good stuff.  D:

I'd said Tewi! Eientewi ver, but that's only because it's been stuck in my head lately.

The Feat. Nomico version of Bad Apple is a must.

Marisa Stole the Precious Thing, Border of Death, Overdrive.. I put Eirin's Clinic That People Queue Up For and Public Holdings Firm, Border Inc. into all of my playlists, but that's just an opinion thing.

A few other good ones to look for are Cirno's Perfect Math Class, Kero 9 Destiny, and the Tag remix of Third Eye.

As beav said above, I don't know the boards' policy about DL links, so I'll wait out on that.

Translations.
How much time do you guys think it will take for HM to be translated? Besides everyone's story modes and the whole menus, there's also the fact that the way HM's programmed is different from all other games. I bet it'll take two months.

lusvik: I don't mind about playing HM in japanese. The language of punching other people is international.

My favorite remixes:

Rather than me linking directly to things, search around for these:

Radiant Radiant Symphony (remix of Nuclear Fusion)
Demetori - Necrofantasia (The most badass Necrofantasia remix EVER)
Liz Triangle - White Lotus... (vocal Cosmic Mind remix)
Alice's Emotion - Colors (vocal Ancient Temple remix)
(Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke)
Silver Forest - Phantasm Brigade (more Necrofantasia)

Others already mentioned:

IOSYS - Border of Death (lol Necrofantasia again)
Silver Forest - Kero ⑨ Destiny (Native Faith)
Bad Apple!!

You can also browse the Touhou wiki to find which albums each song is on, as well as the Japanese names.

Actually I beat everyone to mentioning O-Life.

It would probably help more if you would actually give album names instead of song titles. Searching for songs on Google only gets you shitty Youtube videos, and definitely not any downloads. Going through the trouble to look up every album and then find a download isn't the most productive use of time.

Hakurei Jinja
Club Ibuki in Break All
Artificial Children
(The ever mentioned) Border of Ecstacy
Tsurupettan
Okuu's Nuclear Dojo
Blazing Heart
Quite a few 10.5 and 12.3 tracks
(Reinforcing Lybydose's suggestion) Radiant Radiant Symphony

There's also quite a few piano mixes on youtube that sometimes have the link to the download in the description.

I'm putting together a list of must-haves for my new MP3 player.  Touhou is in there.

By this I assume Touhou is just included and not the only type of music being recommended here? The OSTs to "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai" and "Toaru Majutsu no Index" are always pleasent to listen too. Maybe even some ZONE or Keiko Matsui if that's your type of music.

Practically anything by either Demetori, UI-70, dBu, and/or Ezel-Ash, if you're into rock, that is (some dBu and UI-70 tracks could be classed as electronica(?))

Let me have a look through my Top Rated. There are going to be differences in taste, any of my favorites could be someone else's least favorite, so I'll pick some of every genre.

SOUND HOLIC's 壊されたお守り is one of the first and one of the best arranges (I'm going to start using that word because Remix doesn't always fit) of Hina's theme.

Other great SOUND HOLIC songs:
La Festa Del Vento
Jazz in Greenwich (jazz)
Guilty Melty Love ~愛罪~ (Jazz)
Drive My Life
No Life Queen
平成河童体系 (that song nobody cared about until Tetla Pot made a PV)
Bloomin' the night groove
Eternal Wish
KAZE NO KIOKU

月時計 ~ ルナ・ダイアル and 神さびた古戦場 ~ Suwa Foughten Field by Demetori, if you can stand thrash metal.

If you ask me, IRON ATTACK's Ruins in Hell is the greatest series of sound waves ever to be emitted by a guitar amp.

IOSYS:
(Rozen Maiden Traumend parody)

If you like 'cute' music, all the vocal arranges by Silly Walker are must haves.

Silver Forest is worth looking into. NYO alone is a great electronic artist. Try these:
technical difficulties (rock)
春風 8bit mix (pop)
Keep the Faith (rock)
delight (pop)
Sentence (rock)
toxic (interesting remix of Medicine's theme)

t+pazolite's best:
Girls be Colorful
IQ9
World End's Yama Xanadu

Face to Faith, Tag, 2 U, and Last Dance by ALiCE'S EMOTION

Yellow Zebra is often overlooked, but they've got some good stuff:
風の春秋
境界ファンタジア
ティーカップ・スター
氷結娘
Melody!

COOL&CREATE's best:
drizzly rain (rock version on the album Flowering ERINNNNNN!!)

Lastly, Sekken'ya (石鹸屋). Listen to their songs, and look up the lyrics. You won't find better lyrics in any other group.
Ver~
Selene's light -spread star Magic-
Shanghai mix-
東方妖々夢 ~the maximum moving about~

Bonus: Slowpoke's Playlist of Killer Guitar Solos

IRON ATTACK: ~AETERNITAS LUDOLOGY~
IRON ATTACK: Cavalrymaid
IRON ATTACK: Final Revenge
IRON ATTACK: Ghost Cave
IRON ATTACK: Into the Madness
IRON ATTACK: a little magician
IRON ATTACK: Never Rust
IRON ATTACK: Ruins in Hell
IRON ATTACK: Sky Overture
SHO: Extend Ash ~ Burning in the Hell Blaze
SHO: Is She U.N.Owen?
SHO: Master of Time with the Luna Dial
SHO: Necro-Fantasia ~ Gone Away to the Fairyland
SHO: Septette for the Dead Princess
SHO: Shoot through the Galaxy, Final Master Spark!!!
Demetori:

Phew. That's everything. I know, it's a lot, but trust me, out of the thousands of Touhou songs I have, those are positively the cream of the crop.

Edit: Since this thread is mainly for MJP, songs that aren't made of MANLINESS are in pink. Other than that I have no idea what your tastes are.

If you're into Jazz of any kind at all, I recommend looking up Azure&Sands. They have a jazz album for each year starting with 2005, and each album has plenty of great tracks of different jazz styles.

After making my list, I noticed I had forgotten about the more relaxing music.

Forest306 is very nice acoustic guitar music:
芥川龍之介の河童
千年幻想郷~竹取飛翔
おてんば恋娘

Maikaze:
(Touhou Anime OP)

Nokuno (のくの) has nice MIDI music that sounds similar to ZUN's originals.

TAMusic has plenty of relaxing music, especially on the album

UI-70:
Casket of Star
Colorful Path

Any pointers for Sekken'ya (石鹸屋) lyrics? Scans are fine too since transcribing the lyrics isn't too difficult.

The lack of mention of this saddens me.

I've got that on my harddrive already. XD

Lemme see if I can conjure up enough cognitive thought to navigate YouTube and copy-paste some of the arranges I have favorited, cuz I am bloody tired.[i/].

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRhbrtd4PQc Two songs in one - Reimu's theme(s), followed by Love Colored Master Spark

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlLBUhXAoeY The Witch's Ball - Magus, rearranged.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4GLlhFx0Ww Normally I hate acoustic guitars, but this version of Green Eyed Monster is just downright epic. (Listen to it in its entirety before judging it, it needs time to pick up)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoWfc2VecZs Nightwish meets Komachi's theme. I personally have a hard time picking Komachi's theme out of it, and while I used to listen to Nightwish almost religious, I have forgotten the song that they used for this. I have a hunch its Pharaoh Sails to Orion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHII6O3F5Uo Utsuho's theme, orchestral-ized!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDkshDpyiiE Ego Decay - 3rd Eye, with lyrics. In Japanese, but very catchy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLv6S1S8mOg Concealed the Conclusion is something I need to look into, now. Eternal Full Moon. (Piano work is epic in this one)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5JcKe40a8U Diao Ye Zong meets Necrofantasia - also from Concealed the Conclusion. You know what? Just check out a bunch of the related videos from the CtC songs, a lot of them are good (Especially G Free ~ Final Dream)

...suffice to say, one of the two things that got me into Touhou was the music.
