Sanae Quest (Part 3)

Yeah since we already introduced her to our gods, might as well return to the shrine for a bit.
>"If you don't mind, we could go back to my shrine right now and pay them a visit. It's on top of a mountain!"

[Sect]

So, report in person? Also, we might not need sleep, but Kogasa does, since she's been watching us all day.

> Madotsuki doesn't say anything, but she looks kind of excited.
> Not until recently.  She would usually keep a futon in your room, but after she spent so much time at the shrine, she got the guest room.

> "Well, come on, then, and let's pick up Kogasa. Also, we should probably let Yuyuko-san or Youmu know that you're going down for a bit."

> "I'll go let Yuyuko know..."  Madotsuki stands up and runs out the door, presumably into another area of the house.  She's really fast.

> Watch her leave, then stand up and walk to where Kogasa left through.

> You watch Madotsuki run off, then stand up and walk out to the deck.  Kogasa is gliding away from some ghosts through the trees, laughing.

> You take a seat and watch Kogasa.  She flies away from the ghosts, somehow managing not to bump into anything, as she seems to play a game of tag with them.  One of the ghosts flies right through her, and she turns and starts chasing them.  They scatter and drift up, and Kogasa is forced to go above the trees to get at them.  This cycle continues for a little while, and as you're watching, you hear quiet footsteps coming from behind you.

> You look behind you and see Madotsuki peeking out from behind a door.
> "Yuyuko said it was okay," she says.

> Smile. "All right, then."
> Stand up, and whistle to catch Kogasa's attention. "Kogasa! We're leaving now!"

> Madotsuki nods and emerges from the doorway.
> You whistle to get Kogasa's attention, then call out to her.  Kogasa pauses in her game of tag, then flies over to you.

> Kogasa nods.  "They're surprisingly fun to play with!"

> "Then we'll have to visit here often then, right? Anyways, we're going to go talk to Kanako-sama."

> "Ohh."  Kogasa twirls her umbrella a few times.
> Madotsuki speaks up.  "Um, what kind of place is the mountain, anyway...?"

> Grin. "Come with us, and we'll show you!"
> Start heading to the entrance.

> The three of you start for the entrance.  You pass by Youmu on the way, but she's too busy sweeping to do more than wave at you.

> The three of you head through the gates, and you carry Madotsuki the rest of the way down.  As you all descend from the Netherworld and start flying over Gensokyo, you tell Madotsuki a little bit about Youkai Mountain and the tengu.
> Madotsuki shivers at the mention of the tengu.
> "T-toriningen?"
> Come to think of it, your cell phone's at the shrine, too.  Now that you know that Hatate has one, too, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick it up from your room.  It'll definitely need some recharging, though...

> Frown at Madotsuki. "Er, well, some of them are bird people, crows more precisely, but others are wolf tengu. They're nice people, though, and if it wasn't for the wings or the ears you wouldn't even know that they weren't human. They don't have beaks or long noses like those paintings and stuff that you see in the outside world."
> Giggle at the mental image of Aya with a long nose.

They're nice people, though, and if it wasn't for the wings or the ears you wouldn't even know that they weren't human. They don't have beaks or long noses like those paintings and stuff that you see in the outside world."

> Madotsuki sighs in relief.
> The mere thought of Aya with a long nose makes you giggle.  If she had a long nose like in paintings you would never be able to look at her with a straight face.

> By the time you reach Youkai Mountain, it's fairly dark outside.  You just barely see little specks of light coming from various points of the mountain and at the peak, presumably from the tengu and kappa villages and your shrine.  Since it's so dark, it's hard to see where you're landing, but when you do so you hear the roar of a waterfall a little ways away.  You must be closer to the tengu village, which means the shrine shouldn't be too far off.

> As you gain your bearings, you look at your surroundings.  The three of you are presently in the forest in Youkai Mountain.  To your left, beyond the trees, you can catch a glimpse of the river that runs down the mountain.  You can hear the great waterfall, too.  There's a very faded dirt path leading up the mountain.  Even though there is no wind, the trees rustle every now and then.  You hear what sounds like twigs snapping, and then silence.
