I just 1 bombed IN on easy with Youmu solo. The bomb was even just to get the two fairies in the end of stage 4 to get two bombs.

Not a huge accomplishment, but an accomplishment nonetheless.

(No replay either because I overwrited it accidentially while looking at some replays on the site, asdf.)

IN Extra Scarlet Team done. (score was too low to submit to the chlalenge though). That's the last team - maybe I'll go back and finish all the solos too one day.

Congratz!! Don't fear too much though, Phantasm is basically Extra with a harder stage. I'd say Yukari's 2nd (unique, replaces general gods), 4th (charming seige clone), 5th (princess tenko clone), and 8th (ran [chen clone]) cards are actually easier than Ran's. The rest are basically slightly tougher clones due to more/faster bullets, but they're nothing unbearable. You also have 8 lives to work with if you make the 800 point extend (and 385 of those items come from Yukari), so between that, your bombs, and your borders... You get the idea.

Not to forget Yukari has one extra Spell Card for you to go through.

Congrats on clearing Extra, though. PCB was my very first extra clear.

Yukari's last spell is static though and can be memorized. Also, Midboss Ran's 1st card is easier.

I want to say her second too. Less dense, faster bullets as opposed to micrododging Chen's first wave. Also, concerning Yukari's last spell, if you go in with one bomb and a 2 lives and a bomb (2/2 with Marisa, 2/0 with Sakuya), you can just bomb the waves after the bullets appear and it'll be impossible to fail your run.

Don't you only need 5 bombs? there are 5 waves of bullets, right? and you can cheese through by bombing away those bullets.

Oh, and somehow I dodged lunatic Scarlet Meister to 03 seconds. Damn you Remillia, stop moving away from me.

You just need a total of at least 5 resources to cheese a victory against the spell if you don't bother to dodge the waves.

So at least 1/2 with Marisa, 1/1 with Reimu, or 1/0 for Sakuya is the minimum to guarantee a victory if you plan to death and bombspam the spell.

Tried StB earlier, not much luck except for a clear of 8-8. Just now, tried 8-6 and cleared it first try. (mind you I had attempts earlier) Randomly playing stuff is a wonderful thing.
So that's half of level 8 down. 1, 2, 6, and 8. Now for the harder ones.

Having been sidetracked by Pokemon White for a month, it'll take me time to properly get back into Touhou. However, I took a random run of SA Stage 5 Lunatic this morning to see if I could still scorerun it. Even with my skills as rusty as they are, it took a mere two tries to hit my target graze count by boss-Orin (I messed up the stage opener on the first). I never would have guessed I'd retain the ability to do something like that. I only wish I had the time to continue much off this - real life has caught up to me again.

I finally beat Koishi today! 8D A pretty lulzy finish (smacked right in the face with my 2nd to last life during the exploding) but finally an extra clear @_@ ! Many thanks to Raak for the tips and what not :V

So after a pretty long hiatus from shmups in general, I played a little bit of Phantasmagoria Trues just now.
Managed to perfect the stage 4 and 5 boss on Unlimited Mode back to back.

Last time I checked they were kicking my ass. Taking a break improves your skills I guess. :V

EDIT:
Also the whole stuttering problem from before seems fixed now now that I have a new graphics card. :toot:

All the UFO "discussion" inspired me to play the demo again. Finished it 2/1, which isn't too bad all things considered. I really should start saving my income better so that I can buy the full version and get some more efficient practice in.

I see this all the time, from video games to piano. By not playing for a while, you forget any mistakes/bad habits you may have developed, more so than forgetting your good skills (and any of which you lost could be regained with a bit of extra playing).

Just 1cc'd my second extra stage ever - IN. (First was PCB of course). Didn't see final spell, but that's fine, I wouldn't have survived it anyway.

This means I have now 1cc'd everything in IN aside from Lunatic, but still can't beat normal on SA or UFO. That's just not right.
