I think that if you replace out, and help the mod find a replacement for you, so that the flow of the game is unaffected, no penalty should be incurred.

Maybe, if it wasn't for the fact that replacements can always have doubt cast upon them later on in the game and can get somewhat of a clear that other players who played the whole game can't get. This would also depend on how late in the game they replace out since a day or on LYLO would mess with a lot of people and would probably be disruptive even if the replacement was found quickly or not.

Though personally Polaris/ iced fairy's spot in MRM was disruptive even with the fastish replacement since that player slot got through on one of the more important days, day 1, without a single post yet couldn't be treated as such.

Pfft Don't blame Iced for the clear you were giving him. <3 I agree that Polaris literally lurking out until the mod force replaced him is the exact kind of situation I think of for a yellow card.

minimum 1 hour a day
You people must be fast posters with that kind of minimum.  :ohdear:

That said, Pesco?s plan looks sound to me. Mods can always be lenient when the situation permits it.

I read Pesco's plan of action and I quite agree!  I happen to believe that all replacements get a yellow card however (maybe 1/2 card perhaps?)

The first Game I launched was a flopped test(which is good right?), thus having me pull out a more lively one.

Since I already have 'Tigrex Quest' somewhere in another site....

You have two options:
Razor Ninja
Smoky Cloaker

Pick one, before I go with the 'Terrifying Appetite'.

I got an idea for ya.
Tigrex Quest: Gaiden
It's pretty much the SRW Alpha Gaiden kinda idea.
Same base plotline, but a different timeline/universe.

You know, if say, the MC hadn't killed that Jaggi at the outset, and went after say..something with a bit more bite to it?
Of course, I'm just shooting in the dark here with this, but you can get what I'm saying right?

And on a different note, and I'm unsure if this was asked before or not, so bear with me on this. (It wasn't in this thread, that's for sure.)

Not immediately or directly relevant to the talk at hand, but I don't particularly like that a two-month autolock policy has been/is planned to be added for RPG; the nature of text adventures makes it entirely possible for a thread to die for quite a while but be revived with a single post from the 'GM,' and recreating the thread would create significantly more difficulty for players.... especially if the previous one is removed from the board.

I don't know if this is the best place to bring it up, but I don't think autolock is entirely appropriate for this section of the forums.
There was something here once. Wonder what...

When a text adventure is inactive for 2 months I move it into the Dead section of the archive thread. All the threads are linked in the archive, so finding you old thread to relink to a new one is not a problem other than pure laziness.

There is no automatic moving into MSG or deleting in here. It's all done manually.

Ok I got the idea from Aqua style.. and some other things..

I would like to put out a game, in that style of "rouge RPG". It's quite possible to make it turn based, since the first ones actually were set that way, even those MUDs. One rule would be that you control one character at one time, other things practically would come out in actually making a thread of that.

Who would be interested?

Your idea sounds remarkably like the crawl relays we used to have.  They were tremendously entertaining to read.

Could someone explain to me what really goes on in this section of the forums? I'm kinda new to the place that's all ^^'

Rumia's Party Games is a place for Text Adventures, RPs, and basically any forum game type things.

As well as games like Diplomacy, Tabletop Games like D&D, Pathfinder, and all that good stuff.
And let's not forget Mafia, which has been a mainstay here since the start.

Yeah, that's what I meant by other forum games. I don't know much about those, so I just grouped them into an "other" category. Especially considering how many Text Adventures this forum has.

It sounds interesting, I haven't been in a role play (writing on a forum thing) in such a long time... It'd be awesome to be in one again : D

Would anyone happen to know if there are any open ones or ones that are just starting out?

The only one I know of is Elements of Gensokyo. I think it's still open, but you'd have to ask Youkai Jesus. The sign-up is here, and that's where you'll want to ask if you can still join. After you've made your character with YJ's, approval, you may want to read the story up to this point here. nothing much has happened, but some of it is important.

There may be others; check out Mystia's Stored Games, there's a game directory in there.

Hope to see you join us in Elements of Gensokyo!

Wonder, is it acceptable to make a game with the current TH13 setting as long as there's a big, colossal, gleamingly luminous...

SPOILER ALERT!!

Put something like a 'Th13 Spoilers' in the thread title. By the time you get to a second thread for the game, it should be common knowledge.

Seeing as how Dormio has started another Roll to Dodge. I thought we could probably start a monthly RtD or something. I quite like the game and it's huge amount possibilites and I think a lot of people might play it. We could have lots of different people running it, and it would be a different person each time.

Just throwing it out there.

This thing's supposed to be the simple questions thread, I take it? Doesn't seem like it on first glance but I'll go with it.

I'm new to this site but I've been playing mafia for a while. If someone could elaborate on any or all of the following, I'd gladly appreciate it;

1) Where do you generally sign up for games and how? Any special cases?
2) Where are games usually played? (forums or irc or both?)
3) Are there games that involve outside contact? Are there anon games?
4) Is there any priority system here, or any special requirements for joining games?

And more importantly, is there a main irc channel for the playerbase here? Would be much easier to get answers that way.

  • Most games have a signup thread somewhere, or they're done in the actual gamethread itself.
  • I think most are run on the forums, though I know of several that are done via IRC.
  • RPs, Diplomacy, games of that nature allow for outside contact. Some people create separate accounts for RPs, and some mafia games are anonymous as well.
  • The only priority system is for hosting mafia, I believe.

I have a question. Do threads lock after a certain number of posts are made in here?

Also any tips on how to start a Text Adventure thingy?

There's a two month inactivity time lock in the RPG subforum, as well as a manual lock at ~1000 posts.
To start a text adventure, you can just make a thread and go! :V What kind of tips are you looking for?
