I have a question.  I've never ordered from Amiami.com before and I plan on ordering some stuff for my partner and myself.  I noticed it said they only take payments of JPY and that any other currency will be rejected.  I can pay either Paypal or a credit card. However, do I need to do anything else to make sure it's paying in JPY?

Pay directly with the card, credit card companies usually keep a pretty decent conversion rate.

Visa Electron and MC Electron are not international to be fair, they work for all machines, but not international by definition, consult your local bank before spending. The Electron/Visa Wave, MC Touch or whatever it is that used (with 'for electronic use only' on the card edge)  in East Asian countries tend to get rejected fairly often. It is a random thing as our systems tend to register Electron cards / WAVE cards as bankcards, which are local ATM machine cards. You will also get a notification of proceed, which will slow your order down by about 1 week.

(trust me, I work in a hotel, we have plenty of frustrated Europeans and their fancy new cards being stuck)

err... what I am saying is Visa (standard bank issue bank cards) will work more than those fancy smancy *tap and spend* things you see people carry around. those are the Visa Electron and MC Touch. in essence, any Visa (platinum, silver, standard, gold, or plastic will work as long as it is Visa. AFAIK I also recall AmiAmi does not support Unionpay or Diners Club)

From the sound of it, people are just ordering things and having them shipped directly to the person they're getting a gift for. Honestly, I don't see how that's a huge issue beyond the fact that it might be less clear to the receiver that this random package from a store is their present.

In my defense, I ordered the gifts through multiple sites.

So rather than sending them in multiple packages, I'd rather send it in one. Plus I can't write a nice letter or anything if I don't send it myself.

So yeah, an "error" that would've happened anyway.
