The research put into this movie was just so splendid, I almost regret the fact that they didn't go even deeper.

This was a fantabulous movie.
I'm going to see it again with my sister this week, it'd be the first time I see a movie twice in theaters since WALL-E :3

Yeah, I saw this last week and loved it. I really liked how the movie wove in as many gaming cameos and references without much confusion.

Part of me is sad that the movie didn't feature the villains (or other characters) outside of the focus group setting. lolmovietrailerexpectations. Looking back, I realize that they would have just taken away from the main storyline anyway. Hell, Disney must have spent a ton of money securing even those small cameos. Regardless, this was still a very enjoyable movie with nice pacing and excellent use of references.

Spoiler:
Konami code. 'nuff said.

From what I understand Nintendo wanted too much for the main mustached man himself for Disney's tastes, but I agree that having it too full of main video game characters would have watered it down to just lolnerdjokes so I'm fine with it,

That reminds me - has Bowser ever actually appeared in an arcade game? I don't follow the Mario fandom so religiously to know of any video game exploits outside of consoles.

I do remember the Super Mario Bros 3 pinball game but that hardly counts.

I heard there's no non-3D version of this.  Is this true?  If so I'll be horribly disappointed since I won't be able to watch it right, given I'm legally blind in my left eye and can't use 3D glasses properly or anything.

I didn't know there was a 3D version, so you'll be fine just check the listings to be sure.

Yea, I watched it in 2D.  It was cheaper  :V

I loved it, the graffiti was a nice touch.  It had some really funny moments.  I loved Felix's way of talking.

Yeah, like Triangles said, SMB 1 was in an arcade box for quite a while back in the 80's. It was a more difficult flavor of the game simply to try and milk as many quarters as it could from the kiddos. Punch Out did the same thing before it became Mike Tyson's Punch Out on the NES.

Also, Wreck-it Ralph was the first movie that I have seen in 3D. I was showing in both styles, so I figured "why not?" I'm not entirely sold on the technology quite yet. Perhaps there are other movies that make better use of the 3D gimmick. That, and trying to keep the Buddy Holly glasses in place on top of my eyeglasses was... interesting. :V

Not that i'll be seeing it in theaters, but glad to know it DID get a 2D release so I can actually watch it when it hits DVD and/or Blu-Ray.  Thanks for the heads-up everyone!

If the movie is good enough, you'll get used to it. I've watched a few movies in 3D and worn the glasses on top of my own and it doesn't bug me after a little while.

That said, I still have to convince my mom to go with my brother and I before I end up just going by myself, which would be a little bit sad.

I got permission to write a review of Wreck-It Ralph for our school paper! It's a pretty mediocre paper honestly, but I've been writing gaming articles for them in the hopes that if I write enough they'll start paying me.

Anyway, when that's done, I'll post it here. :3
Also it's entirely possible I'll see this again at some point as basically everyone in my group of friends seems interested in going again...

There's also the Playchoice-10, which was basically an NES system in arcade form.

Sonic, otoh, hasn't been in arcade form as far as I know.

Mario Kart Arcade GP had him IIRC. Used to have that cabinet at the local arcade.

Sonic the Fighters.
Saw the actual arcade cabinet at Otakon, was quite the eye-opener.

There's also SegaSonic the Hedgehog, but that's hard to control thanks to trackball controller. Not to mention Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.

Might watch the movie, even if it's by myself in the theatre. DVD/Blu-Ray version? I'd get it. :D

Just saw it along with my siblings. Was pretty fun. For a while I was trying to figure where I heard the Candy King's voice. When I figured it out I had an eureka-type moment where I was like
Spoiler:
"IT'S THE ICE KING."
I was pretty loud, though  :derp:

EDIT: Okay, I gave wikipedia a visit and it turns out he's not Ice King, he's Wash from Firefly. I swear he sounds just like him though  :wat:
