This is pretty much the best thing I've seen all week. (http://www.overthinkingit.com/2010/10/11/female-character-flowchart/)
Reimu: Strong Female Character or "Strong" Female Character? Where do your OCs and/or waifus fall? All in the same quadrant? All in the same result? Can you connect each archetype to a toho?
Great fun, and it gets you thinking.

Oh my god can I please put this in the PSL writing workshop
We could totally use this
Example with White Rose:
>START HERE
>Can she carry her own story?
Sure hope so.
>Is she three dimensional?
;_________;
Oh, wait, not like that. Yes, she is.
>Does she represent an idea?
Nope.
>Does she have any flaws?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>Is she killed before the third act?
Unfortunately no.
Yay, Koishi is a strong female character. \o/

all else aside and despite the fact that I hate the massive overuse of the word, Miss Piggy for tsundere cracks me up
-
Layla is a strong character. I am success!
-
I think Sango passes.
But now I want to write a Psycho Feminist Lesbian Amazon. :[
-
Yay! Sakuya is a strong female character!
*fistpump*

I like the "Who likes her more?" one that goes to either "Ideal Woman" if men likes her and "Mary Sue" if women.
-
Haruhi. Let's go.
Carry her story? Yes.
Three dimensional? Yes, antisocial grouch, genki girl, and melancholic, plus others.
Represent an idea? Yes, if you think freedom-of-spirit. If not, she can be overbearing and socially inept, plus she can't die, so CONGRATULATIONS! Otherwise...
Villain? No
Mainly the love interest? Partially, not mainly.
Part of a team? Isn't that exactly what she makes?
Main role? Bossu.
Babby? Not now. Never comes up.
Horror story? Not likely.
Violent? Energetic, not violent.
Nearly perfect? Partially idealized, but not perfect.
Older? She's in high school, so no.
Should the audience like her? All things considered, yes.
Who likes her more? Guys drool over her.
And there you go. Proving both ways that Haruhi is great all over again.

and this right here is a) where I disagree with you and b) a large portion of why I think the show is absolutely godawful
but that is off-topic

I try to forget Season 2 ever happened. Makes me enjoy the series.
-
She's still a selfish bitch though :derp:

Read the novels. She stops that after a while. >.>

Haters gonna hate and little else. :P

What season 2? We got 6 new episodes and a movie, if that's what you're referring to. Although admittedly the animation budget took a big hit.
Oh
That's nice to know actually :3
All of that energy of hers becomes far better directed as the series progresses, especially past the first novel. She becomes more mellow, too. She still drags everyone around by the ear, but that's why she's fun.
Haruhi is definitely a rarity for me in that she's got so much energy but I still enjoy her as a character, especially as much as I do. The only analogy I can make for her is that she managed to successfully walk across a tightrope over a gorge while so many characters with similar personalities have wound up going over the edge.

Yay! *hugs Koishi*

This list is wrong and stupid for somehow having Ellen Ripley not be a strong female character. And apparently Azula is sexualised. And I like how every single one of these characters is a priori stated to be non-three-dimensional, which is a ridiculous generalisation.
-
Voice of Reason ----> Shy Intelligence ----> 'Sweet Nerd', with a picture of Lucca? Looks like someone didn't play Chrono Trigger. :|
-
I thought the three dimensional question referred to whether or not the character was a flesh and blood character :V
-
This flowchart looks interesting! I'm writing characters myself and I think this would be helpful :)

That's pretty much my gripe with the chart. The comments were interesting, though.

Thankfully I never seen the second season :V
