Title: Top Gear!
Post by: Doomsday on June 27, 2010, 06:40:43 PM
The last thread for this seems to have disappeared into the ether, so i'll start a new one.

http://www.topgear.com/uk/

New series starts today. (in about 20 minutes from this post actually) I'm out though, so I'm gonna miss it. I'll have to catch it again later.

Fuck yyyeeeeeeeeah~

MotK's favorite non-Japanese television program.  I recommend Top Gear to anyone who has even the most remote interest in cars of any shape or size.  Definitely the best thing to ever come out of Europe.

Oh hey, and I'm on a good connection too at the moment.

Top Gear is an ace program. But yea unfortunate, I know enough people in real life who dislike Top gear. Because they think it is just another car show.

They always compare it to those stupid old farts driving in some stupid french mountain with stupid surroundings and acting all stupid about it. Those people should get smashed off the road imo.

So where's it hidden at, exactly?

BBC2, last I checked.

BBC America is woefully behind on airing Top Gear seasons.

Well, BBC doesn't wanna work for me.

Ah well, I tried.

Pretty much this.  I couldn't give half a damn about cars, but by all accounts Top Gear is pretty sweet nonetheless.

Fuck yeah, Top Gear!

That being said, I don't think I'll follow this season as it is released, since I still have some of the previous seasons to watch. :ohdear:

god damn US television sucks

gotta wait until it's on final gear in HD

BBC2, last I checked.

BBCA also cuts out a lot of the show so they can show shit commercials

Goddamn, I need to watch Top Gear more.  If there's one thing I love as much as Touhou it's cars.  That full speed test they did of the Veyron on Bugatti's straight-line track (basically a 747-capable runway) was a-freaking-mazing.

I nearly wet myself watching the Reliant segment.  Holy christ, that's Top Gear at its finest.

Great to see another season.

QFT

I've never laughed so hard at an episode of top gear ever. That was absolutely brilliant. I might watch it again later just for that bit.

Yeah, Definately a great opening Episode. I laughed-out-loud at the Vuvuzela's on the radio, and the Reliant Robin bit, of course.

I guess that gag with the Reliant flipping over came from this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3UFedde0zY&feature=related)

Episode 2 finished airing not long back. Missed it again, so I'll catch it on my on-demand service in a couple of hours.

You know I think they should just ditch the part about sportscars now tbh and concentrate on the challenges. Its getting a little dry to me.

PORSCHE. FAST. LOOK IT TURNS CORNERS. IT GOES SIDEWAYS.

but im not discrediting the program, the challenge was neat.
should have had the stig do all the corners on two wheels or dragging the nose if possible :L but meh, was still a fantastic roll regardless. I almost thought it was gonna land on its wheels and carry on. also watched clarksons video online. right after. lol.

James' Lap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbUgAI-VTZw)

Jeremy's Lap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsKLw7iVpJc)

Richard's "Lap" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAXp6uqLkYs)

god damnit james I could do better than that

The funniest moment I think I've ever had watching a TV show was the Police Car Challenge (Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtTnfFH2Hjc), Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhwoUxeTWsA)), and Jeremy puts spikes on the wheels of his car (Part 2, 6:00).  The front wheels get so out of balance that one breaks off and shoots right past Richard, James, and camera crew.  I nearly broke ribs I laughed so hard.

Watched it.  Wedding segment was kind of bleh, everything else was quality.  I honestly skipped the bit with the F1 driver, though.

Ah Top Gear, I really can't think of a better way to spend Sunday night.  Or at least I wouldn't be able to if I didn't keep missing it, so I'm going to have to start watching it on iPlayer instead.
I've only seen episode 1 of the newest season so far but wow, I haven't laughed as much in the past year as I did at the entire Reliant Robin bit. :V

Silly Top Gear and their 6 episode long series. Now to wait another 6 months for the next one.

It's been pretty short for a Top Gear series even, most of them get 7 or 8 episodes at the least. What made it more disappointing is that TV Information had it listed as episode 6 of 7. :<

Apparently some group of investigative reporter douchebags figured out who The Stig was and unmasked him. So now he's been fired. There's a bunch of drama going on about it.
They identified him by digging through financial reports looking for who was selling driving services to the BBC, and found reports mentioning Top Gear.
Ben Collins was The Stig

It's a real clusterfuck, but it doesn't seem that he's been fired yet.  Everyone seems to have a different story about what is going on.

The mystery was the fun part, just why.... now we may never see the Stig again...
at least not the white one, maybe the black one might resurface.

I find it funny that it's a big deal now, since it's been fairly well-known for quite some time, just a wink-and-nod sort of thing.

Basically, after Hammond's crash before season 9, there was a report on the crash all the personnel who were on the track at the time, including The Stig, who was listed by his real name as the "Performance Driver" or something to that effect.  Anyone that cared to read that document could have found out.

I hope they don't kill him off though, I like White Stig's outfit :<

They don''t cover it on the show of course, it was something that I came across during the last Stig identity kerfluffle last year.

Well, the old stig isn't coming back at least, but after the Black and White stigs, what colour would they use next?

"People seemed to have got used to me doing a stunt or slide brilliantly. If you do it right they look easy, but they're not. Yet Andy has since said I was the same as a Dalek or the Blue Peter dog. With respect to the Dalek operators, I don't think it's quite the same thing and I thought I could leave with more respect than that."
