The games list (https://gamesdonequick.com/submission/games-list) is out, and looking through it, the major eye-catch is puwexil's FF6 100% Glitchless run in 6:55. There's no way that's not the closer. I must confess I don't particularly care about FF6, but I know a ton of people do, so I'm excited for you all. <3
Super Metroid is back but appears to not be a race this year! Interesting. No LoZ Randomizer, unfortunately.
Other things I'm looking forward to:
* Metroid Samus Returns
* The Metroid Zero Mission Race
* The inevitable MegaMan block
* Catherine (I've never played or seen it but my fiancee is a huge fan of the game)
* Disgaea 5
* N64 Gauntlet Legends
* Getting Over It
* The glorious return of PEPSIMAN
* Pokemon Red/Yellow 2G1C what the fuck
* Super Mario Maker Blind Relay Race
* Super Mario Odyssey
* TASBlock
* Ocarina of Time Bingo (I had to look this up and it sounds hilarious (http://www.speedrunslive.com/tools/oot-bingo/?seed=1))
* Wind Waker HD
I guess I also now need to play Axiom Verge and Celeste in the next two months so the runs don't spoil anything for me.
UPDATE: Schedule! (https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule)
-
My eyes are on Deus Ex (too bad it's not UraniumAnchor playing), Thief, Shadow Warrior (finally!) and Oracle of Seasons. Might look at Divinity, Doom 2016 and Enter the Gungeon too, mostly out of curiosity. Only one Pokemon run this time around... but it should be a good one.
-
First run of Mario Odyssey should be fun! There's probably a lot of routing involved because you gotta get however many moons in a kingdom and then have to get a certain number in order to go to the next.
Mega Man 7
Super Nintendo Chalmers
SKIIINNERRR!
Something something Dark Souls. Though I mostly rolled with an uchi-centric dex build, they could really do a lot of things to blitz through the game. Loose guess is that it involves a lot of little nuanced tech and movement until it crashes headlong into some weapon or spell that busts it open, like great/crystal magic weapon plus the aforementioned uchi. Or something completely different haha. Dark Souls made it real easy to choose a PvE build for running the game normally but it could mean a mess of things for speedruns.
-
No Densha de D or Shoot the Bullet? GDQ hates fun
Pretty interesting line-up this year, although I dunno if anything will match the sheer magic of Awful Block last AGDQ but it'll be nice to be surprised.
-
Deus Ex
Funny enough, I picked up an interest in this one recently and even watched the old runs. Great stuff, let's see how it goes this time.
Shadow Warrior (finally!)
SECONDED
What else...
BTDD co-op - This is gonna be good
Castlevania: CotM - About damn time for a different Igavania to be shown off!
Cuphead - TMR is god
Dark Souls - All Bosses run should be curious
PoP: WW - Still looking forward to it
Redneck Rampage - Another Build engine game? Oh well, I'll take it
Jedi Knight - This one's awesome. Never seen the expansion, will be curious
Super Smash TV - I'm a fan of Total Carnage, the "sequel" of this one, so it'll be fun to see a co-op run here
Super Metroid is back but appears to not be a race this year! Interesting.
By the looks of it, there'll be a Zero Mission race.

Welcome to the coalition, JC!
-
* Catherine (I've never played or seen it but my fiancee is a huge fan of the game)
You are clearly missing out, Kilgmeister. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvAcNlWAz0o)
-
My interest in GDQ is always correlated 1-1 with how much Mario Maker there is. There is some Mario Maker so I have some interest!
-
From what I remember, the Celeste run is a race! That's why both TGH and yp are listed on there. I hope I can catch it live.
-
* Disgaea 5
I didn't know if anyone would be interested in watching this one. My brother had been trying for a while to get this into GDQ, and I am glad that I haven't watched his runs since I wouldn't want all the surprises to be spoiled. I have seen more or less a full LP so I know roughly what a normal game looks like along with the mechanics.
-
* The glorious return of PEPSIMAN
:o :o :o :o :o
-
Schedule was just posted
https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule
-
Welp, the schedule is telling me I'm going to have to watch everything on VoDs.
Also, TASBlock returns! Yay!
-
PEPSIMAN is nowhere to be found :(
-
Pepsimaaaaaaaaaan :ohdear:

PEPSIMAN is nowhere to be found :(
Maybe a bonus incentive to be featured during a setup block???
Schedule for the last day looks pretty solid again. Some old favorites for speedruns and some old favorites for games.
-
Yeah, I have to imagine Pepsiman will be a bonus incentive game, unless the runner had to withdraw for some unfortunate reason.
Schedule worked out really well for me! I have legitimate excuses to not spoil Skyward Sword or Celeste for myself, and after I request Friday off from work the only mid-day weekday game I may miss out on that I really care about is Disgaea 5 (sorry Chirei). I'm surprised that there isn't a multi-hour run Saturday afternoon (not to mention Dark Souls got a late Friday slot instead of a Saturday afternoon slot like it's been getting recently), but I guess having the show close with a 7-hour run will do that.
EDIT: Super Mario Odyssey also isn't on the schedule - I bet that'll be the bonus incentive for the Saturday night tech block.
-
Pepsiman is a donation incentive, apparently. Worry not.
Didn't even know Disgaea 5 speedrunning was a thing. Should be a fun watch.
-
womp womp womp I always forget this page exists (https://gamesdonequick.com/submission/filter/bonus)
I imagine we'll get to see every single one of these, and checking the times, I'm doubly sure the SMO run is planned for that Saturday night tech crew slot.

vods exist, or rather will exist

The week after GDQs are great because my girlfriend and I just hang out and watch all the stuff we missed while curled up on the couch with snacks of our choice. Thanks, Internet!
-
We've begun! Three great runs in a row to begin stuff, with Kirby up next, and I had never heard of Iconoclasts before this but have been sold on getting it and trying it for myself.

Boxed copy of Kobuto Burst Battle V is part of the NISA Prize Pack! Hell yeah.

Is soft body drugs
Am I drugs

drugs are you
Anyway, so sad I forgot this was a thing; I've already spent all the free cash I'm willing to expend and have nothing to donate in hopes to win a prize. Oh well. I've got too many GDQ shirts anyway...
-
I'm too busy at work and couldn't really watch it, but it seems like F.E.A.R. run was surprisingly fun, with nice commentary and some new tricks. Gotta watch the VOD when I have the time.
-
CotM run just started and it's already awesome. Screw everyone who voted Fighter.
-
Bah, I had to miss it. Caught the Bloodlines run though, it was great.
-
All of the CV runs were great for different reasons. And we even got some extra bonus dwangoAC to explain the CotM warp glitch!
-
Oh boy Sanic block that I'm able to watch.
Just about. I hope I get to Sonic 2 and S+K before I need to sleep cause work.
-
Work jumped off the deep end months ago and has gotten progressively worse since then. SGDQ has made it a good bit more bearable this week.
Also Pepsiman did indeed pop up as a donation incentive bonus game for those interested.
-
The Hat In Time race was fantastic.
-
CELESTE
-
> Pepsiman at Ass o'clock in the morning
wtf sgdq
-
They still had a full room through. (Also it was in the middle of the afternoon for the game's homeland mwahahaha)
-
That SMB3 race might have been the craziest-for-all-the-wrong-reasons race in GDQ history. The ending was perfect, too.
-
go watch the Deus Ex run when the VOD gets uploaded if you didn't see it live, the tech in that is hilarious to watch in action
-
Some of the tech in the Friday Mega Man runs is just crazy. Hitting the bosses at just the right time with weaknesses and buster shots is so precise in 7 and the movement stuff in 8 gets real slick. The Mega Man 8 race is synched up at 42:30 in, too.
-
That MM8 race was fire.
-
Taking today as a vacation today to see the Mega Man runs live was absolutely worth it.
-
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
-
You wouldn't expect anything Bionic Commando would be fun, but in reality it was amaaaaaAAAAAA
The rest of the marathon is really solid. SM64 and then Wind Waker tonight. Saturday is great all the way through.

That was the first time we've had Barrier Skip on a GDQ, right? What a time to be alive.
-
A shame Barrier Skip going perfectly was tarnished by the Manual Super Swimming and the Zombie Hover being total shitshows. Poor Linkus. :( At least Barrier Skip finally actually happened.
I just saw two people in the audience play a really excited game of Jan Ken in the audience aisle and the winner looked an awful lot like Reddyne from this blurry angle. You sure you're still here in New England this weekend?
EDIT: What the EVERLOVING FUCK was that Celeste TAS
-
well was not expecting TASbot to go into demoscene mode but
-
Aww SHIT I missed TASblock.
-
The Super Mario Maker Blind Race has some interestingly frustrating levels.
-
F
-
So that hype at the tail end of FFVI. 2M this time around!
Also, the continuing adventures of not actually finishing the ending video for the next GDQ location before shutting down the stream (or in this case, raiding a marathon speedrunner).
-
AGDQ is in Rockville, Maryland
-
Where in Rockville might they be? I don't know the area at all.
-

Didn't say, but I'd wager it's the Hilton DC Rockville hotel. It has a fairly huge conference room.
-
The Mario Maker race was great. My boy CarlSagan slam dunked it like, several different times.

Yeah, but I can't see myself actually playing any of those levels... >.>
-
I'm horrible at Mario Maker. Never really played any of the 2D Marios as a kid and I do not have the muscle memory for it. It's one of my absolute favorite games to watch though.
