So, for some reason when I open the th155.exe basically nothing happens, the cursor has that loading icon for a few seconds then nothing happens... I've tried opening as administrator and using AppLocale but still nothing.
Edit: Also, it seems when I tried to open it this th155.exe.log text file appears. I opened it and there's this line in it:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\tiptsf.dll
And every time I try again another line appears in the text file. Same goes for th155_log.exe.

Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on and off (wait for it to load) -> uncheck Tablet PC Components -> restart
thanks to /jp/ anon for solution

Same problem here, /jp/'s solution didn't work for me.
Actually, I also had the exact same issue with both the AoCF demo (https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,20471.msg1340502.html#msg1340502) and ULiL (https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,20816.msg1343525.html#msg1343525) as well, and both cases required the use of some sort of modified .exe released by brliron for it to work in my case.
Does this have to do with DRM or having certain types of computers/components (GeForce vs Radeon, etc.)?
EDIT: I got a workaround. Download thcrap (https://www.thpatch.net/wiki/Touhou_Patch_Center:Download) and patch TH15.5 to your language of choice (even Japanese). Using the shortcuts generated by thcrap will allow you to bypass whatever that's preventing the fucking th155.exe from booting up and starting the game.

Tried both solutions, it now opens for a moment, then crashes.

Are you still trying to use Applocale? Try ditching Applocale and change your computer's locale to Japanese.

So, now the game opens for a moment, then closes without any error message or anything...

Does your computer have a graphics card?
I have the same bug with the trial version on my laptop and I'm convinced it's because I don't have a separate graphics card.
Tasofro's official site mentions
Graphics Card: NVIDIA? GeForce? GTS 450 or higher

Found a solution on a Japanese AoCF wiki (http://touhou155.wiki.fc2.com)
You should disable the Windows service named either "Tablet PC Input Service" or "Touch keyboard panel and handwriting panel service".

I just checked and apparently I don't have a graphics card... Can't be helped, I'm gonna buy one soon.

You might not need a graphics card.
I got AoCF to run on my laptop without having to get a new graphics card.
