I considered that viewpoint too, but if you're going to share your game with people who aren't able to go to these events, that's the best way to do it. Also, the same circle sells their games in doujin shops, and I don't see how DLsite, a website specializing in selling doujin comics and games, is any different.

It has to do with the fact that ZUN doesn't want circles to distribute their games too extensively. If they stick to just selling hard copies through either Comiket or places like Toranoana, they can limit how much stock goes on sale, but if they digitally sell online, then their stock becomes limitless and they can't control the extent of their distribution.

I'm not exactly sure why, it might just be that they want to be seen as nothing more than a small collaboration of indie groups, or it might even be that they don't want doujin artists competing with each other for "sales", but I noticed that Touhou doujin community seems to have this mentality that an extensive distribution of their games automatically equals commercialization.

I never agreed with it myself. In fact, I'd say ZUN is shooting himself in the foot by not selling his games on DLsite. I don't think circles who complain about piracy don't have a good reason to do so if they don't even bother selling their games as much as they can, either. The whole purpose of copyright is to protect sales--Why worry about losing sales to piracy if you're not going to make an effort to sell your stuff?

Anyways, it's nice to know that the translation is going smoothly.

Still working on this. Just finished editing Case 3, Day 2.

However, it's going to be kind of slow going from here on out. I need to start working on circle stuff for the next Comiket and Reitaisai, but I guess I'll work on this whenever I'm in the mood.

If you absolutely can't find anyone else, I can offer my image editing non-skills! :V

...But I'd still advise getting someone else <_<;

This is a horribly delayed question, but by new edition - you mean another remake, or a new game? :\

Yeah, I guess I wasn't specific enough. It's another game entirely, just called "Special Edition." So that's three games in total.

Shin Gyakuten Touhou (update of the first game)
Gyakuten Touhou 2
GT Special Edition

Got my way through about half of the trial. This one's a doozy though, so it'll probably take me another two sessions to finish it.

Alright. And that should wrap up Case 3 you said...

Are there four or five cases in total?

Took me closer to 3 and a half sessions to go through everything.

I'll start on the 4th and final case next month, maybe.

Thanks for the offer, but really, what I meant to say before is I need less an image editor and more an artist to re-draw text on pictures and also make a new logo.

Just came to offer my assistance on that front. Can't guarantee I'd be able to do everything, but I'd definitely be able to fit some image editing/redrawing between work.

It'd be a shame to have something I can do as being the only hold up.  :3

All right, thanks. I'll PM you with some examples of what I need at some point, probably when I start working on the next chapter.

Don't have PM ability due to having fewer than 10 posts, but here's the fixed up images:

http://mmii.info/misc_img/touhou_attorney_translated/gamestart.png (this isn't technically in the same format as the US logo, but since Touhou is a much longer word than Ace, it works better with the swap)

http://mmii.info/misc_img/touhou_attorney_translated/kurae.png
http://mmii.info/misc_img/touhou_attorney_translated/mattao.png

I'm keeping all the original .psd files, so if you need anything changed, it should be pretty easy to do so.

But you still used "Ace" in the logo. Other than that, I think it looks pretty decent.

I need to do some research on the original Gyakuten Saiban graphics and compare them to the ones in this game. I really don't want to use the exact same graphics, but if that's what they did, maybe it should be OK.

Cool, that should work just fine.

However, after comparing the graphics (for OBJECTION, etc.)in the original and the graphics in this game, I really don't want to use the exact same graphics that they used in the original with a filter applied over them. Maybe if you could find a font that resembles the text used in the original, that would be a little better, since that's what it looks like the makers of this game did.

Hmm... I think it looks a little "childish" or something. The original had more of a "grand" feel to it, so see if you can find something along those lines.

Just posting to show my appreciation for all the hard work you've done, keep it up!

I can't help you, but I do know that in Flash you can make your own fill so maybe that can be done to make a font like the one they use in Ace Attorney for OBJECTION! etc.

Oh hey, an update! Who'da thunk it?

I am finally done with Day 1 of the last case. Fortunately, that means the case is half-done.

Any progress on the graphics? I'm not really expecting any, but I would still appreciate further effort.

I'm not sure if you're still looking for new submissions for the "OBJECTION!" etc. images, but I thought I'd submit this one just in case you are.

I'm not particularly happy with the white "explosion" in the background, but that can be edited relatively easily. I haven't done any others just in case you don't like this one, but if you do, then just say and I'll make the others.  :)

Not bad, but kind of wide. Then again, with a word that long it might be kind of hard to make it fit within half a screen.

Is this any better?

I could just continue making it a bit narrower if it isn't, but I get the feeling it'll start looking really weird if I do that too much. :wat:
