>"Right, I'll let you go then."
>Do so once she indicates to. Then dive down after that Grimoire.

> Alice nods, and you relinquish your hold on her.  She starts to sink back underwater, but manages to pull herself out and float a few feet above the waves.  With her out of harm's way, you dive back under to retrieve the Grimoire.  In all the commotion, the book has flipped shut and fallen on Alice's doorstep, near the strange colorful plant-rock-things.  A school of fish emerge from the open door, and a few leave the group to inspect the sunken tome.

> "What were you doing with this, anyways? I thought you weren't going to use it anymore."

> You really can't tell how wet it is when you're completely underwater, but you'd rather not let it stay down here longer than it has to be.  You hold the book in your arms and swim up to the surface again.
> Alice snatches the book from your arms as soon as you've hit the air.  She opens the cover and starts peeling through the soggy pages in dismay.
> "It was an emergency," Alice insists.  "I know Patchouli has a spell similar to this so I wrote it down in the Grimoire, but...ohhh...."
> She crosses her legs midair and floats closer to the water.  She frowns sadly at the book.
> "It's going to be such a pain recovering all of this..." she says.

>Open the door and look inside. Be ready for the usual evasive maneuvers.

> You push open the door and swim inside.  It doesn't give any resistance.
> Being inside Alice's house like this is bizarre.  You're used to it being warmly lit and neat and tidy, maybe with a kettle boiling on the kitchen stove.  Instead, it's like you've walked into a horror story.  It's dark and chilly in here.  The window curtains serenely in the water, but the torn up dolls floating around are a bit unsettling.  The pillows on the parlor couch appear too water-logged to float, but the tablecloth in the kitchen has tangled itself in the chandelier.  Curiously enough, the painting hanging over the fireplace has not been ruined yet.

> Ready a spell card just in case.

> Don't ready a spell card because we'll ruin it.

> You are about to take out a spellcard, but decide not to at the last minute.  You've ruined enough things in water today.

     > Paper isn't waterproof.  By extension, neither are spellcards.  You'd like to find some way to remedy this.
> The rooms on the first floor, as far as you can see, include the kitchen to your left, the parlor--which is where you are right now, and a hallway with one closed door on the left and two on the right.  The end of the hallway forks off into two other hallways, which you cannot see from here.  You consider just swimming right in, but the dolls catch your eye.  You swim over to one--a particularly unfortunate-looking one in a green dress--and take a closer look.  It seems as though its limbs have been torn off, and there are strange indentations in the face that you immediately recognize as bite marks.  No special attention seems to have been paid attention to the clothes.
> You listen for any strange noises, but you don't hear anything.

> Not very big.  The doll has bite marks, but its face hasn't been torn open.
> You swim into the kitchen.  Had Alice not been such a neat-freak and put everything where it belonged, it would probably be a lot messier here right now.  All of the drawers and cabinets are closed, as is the...refrigerator?  You're pretty sure that's what it's called.  The windows, two parallel to the doorway and another parallel to the counter, have most likely been smashed in by the water.  Glass shards litter the floor.  Beyond the windows, you see more of the plant-stones, but they're bone-white and appear to have large chunks missing from them.  They leave enough space that you could squeeze out if you wanted, at the risk of cutting yourself on glass.  A few mundane fish are swimming in through here, and it is very quiet.
