>What all is in the Forest of Magic.
>"Thanks for keeping an eye on things here. It's been a relief."

> You recall the things that lurk in the Forest of Magic.  Little sunlight penetrates the gargantuan trees, so naturally it is host to all sorts of youkai that range from the mostly harmless to the I'd-bite-your-leg-off-if-I-caught-you types.  Fungi with properties only known to Marisa peek out from underneath every bush and behind every tree.  Beautiful flowers pepper the forest floor.  In the most dangerous areas, poisonous spores fill the air and could choke you with a single breath.  There's also the harmless miasma, which according to Alice is just mana condensing in tight spaces of the forest.
> Marisa and Alice aren't the only magicians in there--there may be a handful out of the entire forest--but they're the only ones who ever leave it.  Rinnosuke's shop is actually located in the safer, less wild parts of it.  Since the forest contains a large percentage of the youkai population, Gensokyo would certainly be a different place without it.
> "No problem," Mokou says, and cracks a small grin.

We do need to go pay Kourin for this sukumizu at some point.

> "Okaaaay."  Mokou waves you off.
> You fly away towards the Forest of Magic.  A lot of it is almost completely underwater, with only the tops of the trees sticking out.  As you fly, you catch glimpses of youkai here and there huddled in the branches.  Farther off, you recognize the less flooded areas of the forest near your shrine.  You're facing the direction of your shrine, so you'll have to go southeast if you want to reach Alice's and Marisa's houses.  The Scarlet Devil Mansion should just be south from here.

> Fearing for Alice's safety, you fly towards the south-east end of the Forest of Magic.
> Passing over this area of the forest, you see that it is mostly submerged.  Yet, the water is so clear you're able to see the fish swimming along the forest floor in the diminishing sunlight.  If you remember correctly, Alice lived in a clearing while Marisa's house was more hidden by the trees.

> Just out of curiosity, let's take a swim and see if we can find anything resembling a house outline. (Silly, I know, but the curiosity is killing me here)

> You dive down into the water, and bump into the treetops.  It takes some work trying to get past the branches and into the depths.  You can see clearly in front of you, but it's getting darker.  Still...even if the sky were to go pitch black, you don't think you'd have trouble seeing.  The fungi that hasn't been washed away by the rain illuminates the forest floor with a pulsating glow.  Crabs you swear are as big as you scuttle in the underbrush.  A strange, squishy-looking creature with eight tentacles clings to a tree.  When you swim by, it engulfs itself in a black cloud and slithers away.  A long fish pokes out of what was once a rabbit hole.  Tiny specks that glow with the same light as the fungi float freely through the water.
> You don't see any houses in the trees, but you think you recognize this part of the forest.

> The rabbit hole jogs your memory.  When you were younger, you and Marisa wandered from her house and stumbled across it, and tried to dig out the rabbits.  It didn't work, though.  Marisa and Alice live near each other, so if you go the route you remember you might actually find both of their houses.
