Use SAI. If you can't afford it, use mypaint.

Get yourself SAI and if your computer is somewhat decent try to get hold of Photoshop 3 or 4. I have heard about how 5 was somewhat misleading and ambiguous. Use SAI for the lining/penning/drawing purpose because its stabilizer option is quite useful when used properly. Photoshop is for the coloring purpose, and since SAI can save a file in .psd format so you don't have to worry about compatibility. From what I know Photoshop have masking function and have wider range of user-made goodies like custom brushes, which are useful in keeping your coloring within the boundary and also entertaining as you can experiment with various techniques. If you have guts and persistence, I have heard Illustrator is the BOMB, but hard to get used to. The choice is totally up to you, though.

ps. try not to neglect the traditional media, as they give better feedback after each practice.

Drew this on a whim last night, to play with the texture tools (paper and canvas), and also brush bristles. Came away liking canvas best.

Layers are also amazing once you get to know how to use them, as you can avoid "coloring outside the lines too much" and stuff like that much easier.

This is my first serious digital drawing with a bunch of layers and so on that isn't a sketch. It's a late Christmas present/early Dia de los Reyes present for Iced! Hooray!

Some days ago I finished a little personal project: drawing the Chireiden girls in the poses of Triple H and the PoTC from the second ending animation of Mawaru Penguindrum, because I think Lily Hoshino?s art there was amazing (you can see it here). So here they are, as similar as I could get them. Just sketches, but man was this fun to do.

Gotta say those Penguindrum-based drawings are cuuute! =) Rather liking that style, but keep on drawing different stuff if you've not found the style you like the most for yourself yet, then wow us with 100% Ruro-style goodies once you've discovered that style that fits you best!

Ruro, these sketches look great. The style really suits you. The only thing I can really pick out is Utsuho's right arm is bent a little too far the wrong way.

You've improved like 100x over your first drawings, really impressive.

I tried to get them as close as I could, aye. Thankfully I have no problem with rewatching the ending endless times, because the music is Triple H's and it's so good. Having Lily Hoshino's art around for reference helped in a big way.

For that I would have to watch Durarara! I've heard it's good, but I've never gotten around to doing that....

Anyway, for several months now I've noticed that the Palace of the Earth Spirits ladies have a motif going through them-- Satori and Koishi have their Third Eyes, Utsuho has her Eye of Sauron... but Rin doesn't!

But a few days ago, when I wrote the latest update of White Rose, I had Satori playing with Rin's ears, and I had a sudden realization, and drew this at like 3am in the morning. I make dumb comics when I'm sleepy.

It's been a while since I arted. Well, not really. I have drawn stuff, but it's mostly Precure, nothing Touhou lately. But I was looking in my files today and found a thing I was working on a couple o' months ago, but I only drew these before becoming dissatisfied with Suika's and never being able to move past it. I don't think I'll continue, but making these four at least was fun while it lasted.
