How do you feel about tuna sandwiches?
(http://i55.tinypic.com/9frtk3.jpg)Onee-san? Is that you, Onee-san? ONEE-SAAAAAAAAAAAANN!
(I won't use those pictures much, I promise. The chance just offered itself so nicely here :V )

Actually though, I have never had a tuna sandwich in my life, or any tuna, for that matter.

Why fishes?
My name. As in, my real name. My most common irl-nickname is simply "Fishy", when I went onto the internet at some point I decided to use the Japanese word for "fish" as my name, "Sakana".
I don't especially like or dislike fish. There's a lot of pretty cool fish out there though.

Quote
Why staff?
Blackmail Conspiracy Slavery
Becoming staff was something I didn't aim for specifically, but after the AFDay incident it just happened. I woke up in the morning, the forums were back up, and I had that salmon-colored tag for Acolyte on my name. Guess I made a good impression on some people along the way for that to happen  :V
Being able to see behind the scenes is... an ambivalent thing. On the one hand, being able to know how things are run and being able to bring in your own voice when something is up is nice. I like being able to help out, and this gives me the chance.
On the other hand, I wouldn't wish it on anyone to have to deal with a lot of the issues that need discussion. Frankly, I am  sometimes glad that I am "only" an Acolyte, who can take part in the discussions, but isn't responsible for the actual execution of decisions and the after-effects.

Quote
Why no evil?
No evil? Awww, that's boring. Well, I prefer being "good" in the sense that I try to avoid hurting people wherever possible. But mischief and playful teasing? I sure hope that doesn't count as evil, because else "no evil" won't apply to me :3

Are you trawling us?
Yes. And afterwards I am going to sell all of you on the slave-market. You shall be the foundation of my outrageously expensive lifestyle of the future. I hope you don't mind being sold to Alaska  :]

TUNA

Why don't you protect your cutting points better?
SHIM

Have you ever tried to find a fish-shaped armor? Or tried to swim with armor on? Yeah, me neither. And utilizing blacksmith equipment under the sea is a rather tedious task on its own, let me tell you.

What is your backstory?
Scooped up by Ruro at the side of the road, then trained as a librarian
Actually, the backstory will be in the answer to Iced's question.

Quote
Why do you have a bloody wound in your side?
Encounter with a whale-hunting ship out in the Atlantic ocean. Stings a bit, but those guys aren't gonna forget the day either. Put some good holes into their ship, mwahahahahaha

Quote
y u so tuna?
...Why tuna, specifically?  Why not some other species of fish?
Coincidence. I don't recall exactly, but at some point someone specified the "fish" as "tuna", and I went with it, and later came the avatar, the rest is history.
Or it could be the other way around, that I made the avatar first and then someone specified tuna. I can't recall, really.
I had the name "Sakana-Katana", "fish-sword", and then made this:
The very first of the vast amount of tuna-avatars I have by now. It's pretty much a trademark at this point I guess  :3

What caused the head trauma that made you want to take up library ownership?
A falling bookshelf, and I swear Ruro pushed it over deliberately
Library-history, wheee~
Okay, well, where do I start. Probably with that day when somewhere on MotK someone (I think Chao as well as Purvis?) brought up points on the idea of making a proper listing for PSL, which was at that time joined with AAA under the name Creative Fanworks. Ruro was about the only one taking care of the fanfics at that time, and when I saw she was ready to take on that vast task on her own, I decided to send her a PM offering my help on the spur of the moment.
From that came the Librarian Squad Recruitment, and those brave people sacrificed their time and  their souls to read every single fic at that time and summarize it for the bit Fanworks Listing. Along the way CF got split into PSL and AAA.
Throughout that process I was pretty much the one in charge of organizing things, making the first list of all fanfics and assigning them to all the helpers.
After the Fanworks Listing was done we got granted the all new Librarian-usergroup. Due to me basically being Ruro's personal slave assistant during the whole thing and being the one to do the overall organization, I later got the position of PSL-Acolyte.
A lesser known fact is that Gappy actually asked if I would accept to be mod of PSL even before that, but at that time it was decided not to take in new mods, so the issue got dropped until Acolytes came to be.

Being PSL Acolyte isn't bad. Writers aren't causing any trouble, so not much to do. And I really like reading and writing, even if I don't get around to it as much as I want to.
As for my Librarian-job though, I've been neglecting that a bit too much. That Fanworks Listing needs some updating  :ohdear:

Can you answer this thread in the style of the special round of Black Stories?
I will do so for some of the later questions, once my camera's batteries are charged. Not for the whole thread though :V

Quote
What happened to those, anyway?
Interest declined, noone was playing anymore. May get a reboot someday, I still have tons of riddles at the ready, and it's been long enough that people could be motivated to play again :3

Rrrrrrrriddle me this, Tuna-tan!
Knowing you, this is probably from Batman? The Riddler? I barely know a thing about those superhero comics.
...Why tuna, specifically?  Why not some other species of fish?[/quote]

Why are you my favourite? <3
Because the Librarian-uniforms are made in a way that revelas much of the legs? Because I write silly fiction about the Librarians? Because I greatly reduced your workload for the Fanworks Listing?  :derp:
Or it could be because I'm doing my best to be reliable and friendly and we get along well because of that?  :3
Or is it because I was the first one to sign the contract for being a Library slave?

How German are you?
~80% I guess. According to you I at least *look* German, ne? Behavior-wise I think I'm not too typically German, at least not in all aspects. I would claim I am much less uptight than most Germans, and much more open to the idea of *having fun*. When you go to another country and recognize fellow Germans because of the sour look on their faces (this happened to me in Japan), that says a lot. I myself take care to not be like that but instead go through life with a positive outlook and a smile. That is apparently very ungerman XD
I like to organize things in a bureaucratic way though, I supposed that is typically German :V
Family-wise, there have been family branches in France and Poland, but those were back in the 18th century, so nothing that really left a lasting effect on how I am today.

What are your expectations for WuftD Season 2?
I hope it will be fun and an interesting experience. I have only heard about the old WuftD, I have never read it (well, I have looked at the thread and read a few lines before, but I won't count that). I've also never played a forum RPG before, only IRC RPGs (and ones that weren't very serious at that. My main experience is Maid RPG), so this is a first~

I'm a librarian, not the weatherman. But you can try in the section about "Diverse uses of water in all forms" and the "Time traveling for beginners" section. Alternatively, ask Iced, his name implies he knows about snow as well.

TUNA?

YUKARI?

Being the Acolyte of PSL and all, you must have at least some affection for endeavours literary!  So I beseech thee... What are your favourite books, and why?
Oh man, hard one. I have a lot of books I really like, and choosing from those is hard.
For epicness, "Lord of the Rings". I worked my way through that book back in school during summer holidays, and I read the Silmarillion as well. I loathe the endless descriptions of the Shire, but damn, Tolkien is an awesome world-builder.
For humor, Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. I can't define a favourite here, though I like the more recent ones the most. Again, he's doing an awesome job at building up a whole world, and his style of writing make me continuously grin when I read it. Currently reading "Unseen Academicals".
Walter Moers comes in as close second when it comes to humor, though "City of Dreaming Books" stands out. This is one book I suggest to everyone that likes reading and writing and will stay one of my all-time favourites. Basically, it's a book about books, and the joys and hardships of reading and writing alike, set in a satiric fantasy world.

Quote
Relatedly, do you enjoy poetry?  If so, any personal favourites (either individual poems or specific poets)?
I enjoy the occassional poetry, but I don't read much of it and I don't actively search it out. Most poetry I have read was due to school, and I recall liking satirical poems the most. Kurt Tucholsky comes to mind. I do like the works of Goethe and Schiller (those few I have read at least), but I don't know nearly enough to say I have a favourite poet.

Quote
Aaaaaand what's your approach to writing?  How do you get those words out of your skull and down on the screen without having an aneurysm? :ohdear:
First of all, I am horribly uncreative when I don't have anything to work from. Once I have a basis to build on though, I usually just start writing (though with a set goal and general flow for the story in mind) and many specific ideas come to me while I already type things out. That's a reason why I like writing those Librarian-stories, btw, because I have a lot of material to work with.  :3
For me the biggest  issue with writing is to start at all. Once I am on it the words flow easily most of the time. If they don't, I just drop it and try another day. I personally don't like detailed descriptions, I stick to a minimalist approach in what to provide the readers with and let them fill in the blanks on their own. I barely describe characters' looks for example, I focus more on displaying their personality through actions and speech. Interestingly enough, so far people always seem to get the proper image I want to convey, so it works out.

The most important thing for writing is: Have fun. If you aren't having fun with your writing, then you may as well drop it (at least for some time). When you can't enjoy writing a story, it will show in the story itself and be noticable to the readers as well. And I doubt many people like reading a story that they know the author didn't enjoy writing. This brings me back to City of Dreaming Books that I mentioned earlier: It's one of those books where the love the author had for the story really flows from every page, and it makes reading it extremely enjoyable.

What fish would you want to keep for a pet and why?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunkleosteus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunkleosteus) That.

Unfortunately, that's not possible, so... I'd go with whatever looks nice I guess. Fish are something you can't do much with, you can't cuddle them or play with them the same way you can with other pets. So if they don't look nice it would be silly to have some at all (unless there's some special individual reasons). If I had the room for it, a large pond with some koi would be pretty neat though, I like their looks.

What genres of stories do you tend to like?
Some years ago I was all over fantasy, but it has changed to that I like humorous, satirical stories the most these days (though often within a fantasy setting as well).
Mystery/Detective Fiction appeals to me as well, but I have barely read any, mostly some short stories.

Quote
What do you think about English classics, like Shakespeare?
There is others besides Shakespeare? :V
Well, my only encounters with Shakespeare were, once again, in school, and those were Hamlet and MacBeth. I liked those two, but I don't really have much more to say about that.

Quote
What are some German classics?
Goethe and Schiller, clearly. Those two, especially Goethe, are the most significant figures of German literature of the past. As for Goethe, "Faust" comes to mind first. I've only read the first book, I heard the second got rather mind-screwy. May check it out someday. His "Erlk?nig" is a pretty nice read as well. Schiller I mostly recall for "Die R?uber" (and actually I think that's all he's well known for). Can't say I'm a big fan of either of them, but they are definitely the most popular authors in regards to German classics.
There's some more I mostly know by name only, Lessing, Fontane, Brecht (his "Life of Galilei" is pretty good) and others.
As you may notice, what I learned in school about German literature didn't leave too much of an impression. That may be due to me not being able to appreciate the works properly back then.

Have you ever really thought about how people could do anything when they put their minds to it?
Do you believe in the above fact or disbelieve it?
If I have to chose one, I say I believe in it. Of course, that is a black-and-white answer when the issue is grey. There are certain things even the strongest mind can't achieve. For example, I can put my mind to it as much as I want, I won't be able to become Emperor of Japan.
But as long as it's within realistic bounds, then yes, I believe that with hard work and the right mindset humans can reach anything they want. It may take years or decades of work and hardships, it may take severe setbacks, but it can be reached.
What is important is to really believe in the goal one sets for themself. If you don't believe you can reach something, then you won't be able to really give it your all. A human's mind and will is probably the strongest thing they possess if they use it right.

Quote
Though, since I barely know you, and this may already be obvious, Are you a pessimist, Optimist, or anywhere inbetween?
Optimist, bordering on naivety at times :P
I'm the kind of guy who will never be down about something for long but will quickly go "Okay, that went bad, but this is the situation, now how to work from it." And I will tell that to others as well. I don't like dwelling on things of the past (though it occassionally happens), I prefer looking forward to the future.
I also believe in the solutions for problems that will be beneficial to all involved parties, if only enough effort is made by all of them.
A positive outlook on life is what I deem very important for being how I am. The day I start wallowing about how my situation sucks you may go ahead and shoot me :V
I'm not immune to bad moods, and I may rant about some stuff at times, but it never lasts more than a short time or a few hours and then I will be back in shape with a positive mood.

Rate the below as a poem:

Do you enjoy thunderstorms, or do they freak you out?
I like thunderstorms as long as I'm somewhere inside. Being surprised by one while walking outside isn't too enjoyable though.

Quote
Do you like the sound of a steady rain?
Not when I want to go out, like today. It's been raining all day and I'm not enjoying it. When I want to relax though, it can certainly be very calming when it's raining.

Quote
What's your favorite kind of landscape? (beach vs. forests vs. open country vs. etc.)
Islands. Small islands, specifically. I like the sea and I like woods, so islands like that are the best combination. Since being near the sea is rare for me though, forests are what  I prefer for trips. Not some lame forests on even ground though, mountain forests are the best :3

Quote
What's your favorite guilty pleasure?
Chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate. In times when I had several lectures a day at uni I always had some chocolate with me to get my mood and energy up when it got boring.
Luckily I am basically incapable of getting fat, no matter how much of that stuff I eat.
Unfortunately that also works in that I can't properly gain weight when I want to (I'm kinda underweight, though healthy at least ;^^)

Quote
What would be the hardest bad habit you have to give up?
Procrastination (or however that is spelled again). I'm horribly lazy. I always get my stuff done when I have to, but I really wish I could motivate myself to do things better. (Like, writing my PSL-stories... >_< ) It works out for uni because I still start early enough to deliver proper results, but it still bugs me.

Quote
Why is Purvis your favorite? (inb4 teh hobo)
Because he lives in a cardboard box. Solid Snake also uses a cardboard box and Snake is cool. Therefore Purvis is cool as well. Also, Day Planners is to this day one of the best things I have read, in no small part thanks to its unusual style.

Favourite food?
I don't think I have a clear favourite. I suppose gratins are pretty high up there. A good potatoe-gratin baked over with a ton of cheese, hmmmmm~

Quote
Cake or pie?
Both. And right now, at least I'd like that :V

Quote
How neat are you? Or how much do you value it?
I value it a lot. Living it however, is another thing. I don't let it come to the point where I would have to be ashamed to go outside in regards to personal hygiene and clothing. But as for neatness in regards to my apartment....

Weeeell... errr.... Oh look, shiny thi-- Okay okay.

This ties in with the laziness issue. I clean up very randomly so most of my flat is in a rather chaotic state often. I don't let dishes grow mold or something, but they still pile up until I run out of them before I will properly wash them. And my living room is usually kinda of a mess with things being thrown together into a heap that is then moved either to the armchair, or if I need that, to the bed :V
However, when a friend visits, I always clean up. Especially if it's a girl. As such, I like inviting people over when the apartment looks bad because it gives me an incentive to clean up :V
I hope I can get to a point where I get more organized in that regard one day, because I definitely prefer living in a neat and clean place.

Quote
Would you consider yourself a role model for other people?
Totally! Wimps need to learn to bash some heads!

Again though, this is a question I can answer with neither yes nor no. I certainly wouldn't want to be a role model for anyone when it comes to cleaning or not being lazy, as pointed out before. But when it comes to a positive outlook on live, not working oneself up over small things, enjoying what I have and treating others properly? I think I'm at least not doing a bad job in that regard. Whether it's enough to be a role model, that is a judgement I will leave to others.

I work as an actual librarian IRL. Does that get me any sort of credibility with you?
Definitely. I love libraries, the bigger and older they are, the better. And from that stems the idea that librarians can't be bad people :3

Quote
I'm assuming that German is your first language; how hard was it for you to pick up English?
Assumption correct. I never had much trouble with English. It just worked for me, without having to study much. Playing English games (or mostly demos of games back then) helped me with seeing the language used and learning new vocabulary. I later chose English as an advanced course in my last years of school and scored good grades all throughout.
After getting onto the internet using English became an everyday thing.
By now I somedays use English more than German, mostly due to the boards and IRC. I sometimes can't even properly remember if I read things in English or German because using both languages has become natural by now.

Quote
What are your preferences in music?
This has varied a lot over the years. It's easier to say what I don't like, which is generally Rap/Hiphop and Techno. There's exceptions, but the majority of those genres doesn't appeal to me. I guess the stuff I listen to the most currently is anime-music, so J-Pop or -Rock (for example right now Toradora's Opening is playing on loop). And I like orchestral music (often from video games) a lot as well.
Overall though, I think Rock and Classic music are my preferred types of music.

Why do you let me fish you to near extinction? :ohdear:
Because eating fish can help you with being sick and hungry all the time. If you would stop being sick/hungry you wouldn't need fish and I wouldn't get extinct >:[

How'd you end up getting into Touhou/MotK?
Let's see. If I recall correctly it started with playing Osu! (that Ouendan clone for PC), and liking a Touhou song on there. So I looked around for the song and eventually stumbled across a Touhou gameplay-vid. Intrigued I checked it out more. Then I wanted to find out how the gameplay worked, and ended up on the Wiki. And from there I found MotK. Looked like a neat place, so I joined, the rest is history.

Which MotK member are you most likely to kidnap, for whatever reason?
Admit it, you are expecting me to answer "Gappy" now :V

Wouldn't you like to know?

Honestly, with all the people here I like I'd have to bring a big bus for the kidnappings. Half of the people in PSL, for one, and a good amount of others. For varying reasons. Some of them would be kidnapped so I could drag them around for some lessons in optimism and positive spirit :P

Quote
What countries have you visited? Which countries would you like to visit (assuming no time/money issues)?
I've visited Czech, Poland and Wales/England,  those were all during school-trips. One and a half years ago I also visited Japan for three weeks, together with a friend. Planning to go there again next year once we are finished with uni.

Countries I would like to visit if I had the money? Hmm, South East Asia (yes yes, that's not a country :V ) and possibly China, Australia, North America (USA as well as Canada), maybe some South America as well. Africa could be worth a trip (hi Pesco), Scotland as well (I will get you, Rou and Rin). And I am probably forgetting a ton of countries that could be interesting as well. If I had infinite ressources I'd probably systematically go everywhere, I love seeing new places, and especially experiencing their cultures.

Why did you never finish your NaNoWriMo novel?
Because I lost the feel for it and didn't have any ideas on how to continue. That I had to abandon NaNo in between because of stress didn't help there. I might go back to it one day, but currently I'm more interested in finishing up my Librarian-stories.

Quote
Of the works in PSL, how many of the total (looks to be over 300 or so, including the ones in Koakuma's) have you actually read?
Good question, at most 10% I suppose. And most of that was for the Fanworks Listing. Some stories I have read parts of, but then neglected following them (DRK for example). I've got a mental backlog of stories I still want to read, but as usual, I just can't bring myself to do it.

Since I have been about three years old I think. They are part of my character by now and not wearing them anymore or switching to contacts is a thought that would never cross my mind. On that note, I'm getting new glasses tomorrow or on Friday, yay~

The most recent one would be Walter Moers' "Der Schrecksenmeister", which I finished just a few days ago before starting with Pratchett's "Unseen Academicals".

What is an ideal day like for you?
Let's  see, a perfect day would probably go something like this: Wake up with sunrise, read the newspaper while having a good breakfast, talk with online-friends and probably play some games or read a book, later go out to meet with friends for a nice afternoon/evening. In the past I preferred to be on my own, but over the years I've become very social. A day I spend with friends all around is the best kind of day~

What is our Bro quotient?
About that much:

Would you grant writers of a successful text adventure (one that reaches completion at least) the Wordsmith tag?
Definitely. The amount of prose the GM of a complete Text Adventure produces is easily equal to many other stories. TAs are fiction that lives and evolves from continuous reader input, so simply another genre of writing. There is no reason why that shouldn't deserve the Wordsmith tag the same way good fiction in PSL does.

I believe I did! Your talking about Franzi intrigued me. Or am I just being delusional? ???
Ah, that sounds likely. I did talk about four-armed patched-together loli-abomination a lot after all :3

Quote
Do you own any pets?
No, because I don't think I would be able to give them the attention they need. We've had pets in the past (we meaning my family), a guinea pig, a rabbit, mice, a rat, and budgerigars. Not all together of course, one after another over the course of many years.

Quote
What are your preferred genres when it comes to books?
As mentioned before, I really like humorous/satirical fantasy writing, and that is about the majority of the stuff I have.

Quote
How about movies?
With movies, in the past my main interest was comedies and science fiction. Nowadays I don't watch many movies anymore, and the ones I do watch aren't chosen by genre. In regards to movies I have seen in cinema I think most of them were fantasy movies. But yeah, not a big movie-watcher in the first place.

Quote
Anime and manga?
Probably close to everything. I have a dedicated bookshelf for my manga-collection, and it's stuff from almost every genre. I prefer shonen-style, but not necessarily fighting-manga, rather stuff like Bakuman or Death Note. Two of favourites are Seinen I think, which would be "She - The ultimate weapon" and "Gunslinger Girl". Another favourite is Genshiken, for which I have no idea what genre it falls into.
I've read the occassional shoujo as well when I worked my way through our library's manga section, though I can't think of any series that left a lasting impression on me.

For anime it's mostly gotta either have lots of nice action, or lots of funny stuff. Recently I finished Star Driver and started Gurren Lagann. I also started on Nichijou. Or it has to be really intriguing, like Madoka.
But there's again no clear system to what I will watch and what not. The actual plot, characters and style are much more important to me than the genre it's assigned to. Going by genre has never been something that worked properly for me, I can find things I like and hate within the same genre.

It got created just about a little while ago and yes, it's basically the RA+ for writers. There's also Atelier Idol now, which is for those artists that mostly do music.

I'm surprised you remember this.
I have the kind of memory where I remember a lot of small random things like that. Can come in handy at times, but it also means I often forget blatantly obvious big stuff when asked directly.
(For example Dorian pointed out I missed some very obvious stuff when talking about the German classics before:
<Dorian> You disappointed me Sakana, Schillers fame is based on writings like ?Die Glocke? and ?Die B?rgschaft?, and you didn't even mentioned Heinrich Heine.)

It's a common mistake to let secrets pile up miserably. That will cause the pile to collapse at some point, spilling the secrets everywhere. The trick is to arrange them neatly so the pile is stable. That way your own personal secret construction will be durable and capable of supporting the life you build on it.

How hard is it to be a librarian on a daily basis? Do you do much aside from the big sorting list?
The job of the Librarians is only the list, yes. Well, and judging the WWCs I suppose. For me being Acolyte adds a little extra work, but it's not that much.
Now if we were to divide work evenly and keep the list up to date as soon as possible all the time, the daily workload would be rather small, seeing as we only get new fics in PSL every other day (mind you, that's pretty good. Having new stories added almost daily is a good score). The problem is that each of us Librarians has their own stuff to deal with and the work piles up. Take a look at the listing right now. When it's like that we'll just have to divide it and pull a big summarizing-session soon to get it back up to date. But oh well, that's the job.
But overall, it's not a too hard work, no.

I would claim to just be what I define as a "normal" person that enjoys life. If that counts as awesome, then everyone here can be awesome with little work :3

Quote

Ensel und Krete, City of Dreaming Books, Schrecksenmeister, those three so far. I have already bought 13 1/2 Leben des K?ptn Blaub?r and Rumo, gonna read those in within the next months.
Just like with Tolkien and Pratchett, I love the world Moers has created and his writing style. It feels to me like he always keeps his endings short though, which makes them seem kinda rushed, or unfinished. It wasn't that bad in Dreaming Books, but both Schrecksenmeister and E&K seemed to suddenly speed up a lot towards the end and before you knew it it was over. He didn't really leave things open, but it somehow felt like there was potential for a bit more, is my opinion.

Quote
How is the outlook on you visiting either Aachen or M?nster in the future?  :3
If I recall correctly both of those cities have some touristic spots eh? As long as there is something nice to see chances are I wouldn't mind visiting there :3
(Okay, I wouldn't mind visiting a place just to meet people either, but if there's stuff to see that's even better :V )
As for the "when" though, that is still up in the stars  seeing as my next big goal is another trip to Japan next year, which requires me to save up as much as I can for now.

How do you feel about Germany being the hub of the EU?
Oh god, the hard questions are starting. I will make a disclaimer here that I may be missing crucial information about some of that stuff, but I'll answer to the best of my knowledge, which consists of what I caught in the news and what a friend who is more interested in those things told me about it.

Hmm, I'm kinda torn in that regard. With the current situation the EU, and especially the Euro, rely a lot on Germany's economic strength. (Though over here it certainly doesn't feel like we are the economically strongest EU country >_>). We'd get an extremely strong currency if we were to quit the Euro now, but on the other hand it kinda feels like Germany would be fleeing a responsibility it willingly took on. Being the backbone of the EU is something our politicians apparently decided upon, so I guess seeing it through is only proper. With the current load of debt on the country it's not like it matters. It can't be paid off anymore anyway >_>
So far, I haven't noticed this issue affecting the general populace of Germany in any way, so I don't see it as an issue. Whether and how that can change, I don't know. I rather don't want to imagine what would happen if the EU crashed while Germany is trying to take a majority of the burden.
Nontheless the last I heard was that the Euro is still very strong, so I guess despite all the troubles it's working out somehow...

Quote
For that matter, how do you feel about the EU?
I like the general idea of the EU. Stuff like the free travel, theoretical possibility to take up work anywhere you find it without much trouble etc. is a good step in our modern world. Same for the common currency. The execution so far seems kinda flawed though. EU regulations are only reluctantly accepted into the laws of the individual countries, there doesn't seem to be much cooperation between the countries and the EU, which is a problem when those countries are what make up the EU in the first place.
There's also stuff being regulated that, frankly, shouldn't need regulations. The EU-cucumber is a common joke here, apparently there was some regulation about the shapes of cucumbers so they could be stored the best way for transport.
My biggest problem with the EU in its current form though: The common people have no idea what the hell is going on. There doesn't seem to be much transparency or any good information policy. Most people have no idea what the EU is responsible for, what exactly it can do and how it works. That of course hurts its acceptance by people, which makes it harder for it to succeed.

Quote
What advice would you give any new countries hoping to join?
"Wait until the situation has stabilized, and use the time to build up your own country in the meantime. If you join right now things will get worse for all of us in the long run."
The EU has made the mistake of taking on too many new members too quickly and allowing them to join the Euro as well. (And not even talking about how Greece managed to fake its records and noone noticed >_> ). They should have taken them in over a longer time to ensure that the whole union stays stable. Let one join, make sure the economy is stable, once that's ensured choose the next one to join. It's understandable that other countries want to join in asap, but they will benefit from it more if their joining doesn't upset the whole construct.
The question should always be "Is that country in a shape that will benefit the EU as a whole, or will it need support? If it needs support, then can  the EU grant that support without cutting back for other stuff right now?" If the answer to that last one is no, then they will have to wait.

Why is the wordsmith title brown? Why not red or orange or blue or indigo?
Red, orange, blue and indigo are slready given out. (Not completely sure about indigo, but the rest is.) Other than that, Ruro chose the color, so ask her :V

I like semantics. Words are like a wet towel you can use to slap someone around when needed. :3
If that is a German trait, then yes, I am apparently unbearably German.

How awesome am I for having come up with "Wordsmith" for that tag?
   - Can I get Wordsmith and/or IP and/or Spechul Membah for having done so? :V
This is the first I have heard of you coming up with it, but I wasn't around for the discussion, so I will take your word. Go ask Ruro about IP, maybe she's feeling generous :P

Quote

That implies RA+ is freely joinable, which it is not, last time I checked. It was open for a short time, but then got closed again. Wordsmith will be given out like RA+ based on mod-decision (of course users that see someone who deserves the tag should go ahead and point it out to us, via Reports for example ^^)

It's "Ask", not "Make demands", so no :V
If I could describe danmaku, I would have already written it. I mentioned before that I'm not one for details, and that goes for details in action scenes as well. The most detailed scene I have written yet was a swordfight in Magical Librarians, and that was only possible due to possessing some books on the topic and having martial arts experience to work from.

So basically, if you find me the means to fly and shoot danmaku, and possibly get me a copy of the Grimoire of Marisa, I could gather experience to use for a written description of a danmaku battle. Deal?

It's brown because that's the colour of the hat. It's not red because that's Bunbunmaru. It's not orange because that's Mascot and Atelier Idol. It's not one of the 38926589 shades of blue because Matsy and I found it basically impossible to distinguish it from the IH and SM badges (actually, this is why Atelier Idol is orange and not blue). And it's not indigo because that's too close to the Admin colour. And because we didn't think of it. You try being that creative late at night.

So.... there was that idea for a Ruro - Gappy wedding fic that would have ended in a giant swordfight with people dying left and right and the church burning down as Tengukami the organist dutifully plays the wedding march and Kilga the priest tries to still get down the rites. (Though that idea was a bit of a collaboration of the library-channel. I got the beginning written out. Maybe the rest will see the light of the day someday, but it's unlikely :V )
Or would you rather like the spinoff series "Magical Ferret Matsurin"?

What's the best job you've ever had?
I haven't really had a job at all yet. Been doing some part-time stuff, but I won't count that. the closest I have had for a job would be my civil service (because I refused the military service). I worked at the social office, accompanying people who had to deal with the unemployment offices bureaucracy stuff, and even worked as a translator at times. Those nine months were pretty awesome.

Quote
Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
I have no idea. I will probably start out as an official for the city once I finish uni, because chances are very good for a job there. But after that, I don't know. I don't necessarily plan to stay in an office all my life, but I have yet to properly look into potential paths for the future.

Do you think in German or English?
Both, depending on the situation. Right now, I am skipping the step of thinking in German and just think English. If I were to talk to a German friend I'd of course think in German. Sometimes I mix it up though, and end up throwing English words into a talk in German. Or I try to think of a German word and all that comes to mind is the English equivalent.

Why did you choose sociology as your field of study?
I chose it after my time at the social office, and it sounded like it would go in a similar direction. Only later did I find out that it was actually quite a bit different, but not in a bad way. Getting a closer look on how people gather to form societies, how those develop and how people interact in them is a very interesting topic and sociology can be applied to many facets of our everyday life to yield some interesting results. For me, sociology is mostly a certain mindset and a certain way of looking at things that allows to analyze them in a way that is different from everyday logic. I am not a fan of all the classic sociological theories. Sure, they are interesting to have heard about, but most of them barely apply anymore, or appear extremely forced when applied to modern circumstances. I rather like the approach of generating the theories from the data about the topic of research and then building from there.
Will I be doing sociological work later in my life? Maybe, but it's not my primary goal. Could happen I end up doing research though, if I get into a field that really interests me personally. (German research on gaming and stuff is only starting to pick up...  :derp: )

Do you like gardening?

I'm really not a good gardener, though I enjoy harvesting stuff (especially strawberries :3)
There's a good reason the only plant in my room is an artificial one.

R-ruro... what are you do... DON'T POINT THAT GIANT THING AT ME! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

What kinda games do you play?
The only genre I don't play are RTS games. Other than that, I've played games from every genre. Action Adventures are my favourites. Pure action games can be fun (occassionally FPS as well), but mostly I prefer a good story and some stuff to do on the side. Currently I'm playing Yakuza 4, and I have spent more time on the substories than the main story already :V
I also really like RPGs, though I don't have enough long-term motivation and patience for many of them. A genre I would like to see revived more are point and click Adventures. The good old days of Monkey Island (which I got as the special edition for PS3 for nostalgia).
Another genre I really like are rhythm games. I like music, I like games, as such liking the combination of both is a given~

Oniichan! Being the badass lady-tuna-killer you are, as well as the God of Chivalry (and tuna, and tuna chivalry), what advice can you give to today's young men on modern chivalry, particularly with regards to courtesy and respect for their superiors ladies?
First of all, ladies are humans like everyone else. In my eyes best way to treat a girl good is to treat her like I would treat everyone else. Yes, that means to aim for a friendly relation instead of jumping right into dating, since that just isn't my style (and I have no idea how to do it,I simply never bothered to learn :V). I aim for stable long-term relations with the potential to turn into more once a good base has been built. I want to be the kind of person that can be friends with guys and girls alike, where a girl doesn't always have to wonder if I'm just aiming to get her laid at some point :V
I have the feeling too many people are stuck on the idea that there are some significant differences between men and women that necessitate acting completely different around the one or the other, and that leads to insecurity. While there surely are some differences, the individual differences are much more important. If I adjust my behavior around a person it shouldn't be because of that person's gender, but because of their personality and individual character.
That of course means to get to know people enough to do so, which requires effort a lot of people are not willing to give, so they retreat to stereotypes and wonder why the results aren't even remotely what they expected.

So tl;dr my advice is: Get to know the actual person, don't get stuck on the thought of "Oh my god, it's a girl, I gotta act differently!"
Of course, this is just from my personal experience, so I am very sure that other people would tell the exact opposite and it would work for them :V

Do you prefer fans or AC's?
I prefer the traditional open window :V
I've never lived anywhere with an AC, and the only thing I have is a rather old fan that I sometimes use in summer, but it doesn't do much.

Quote
What is your favorite musical group?
As with many other things, I don't have a clear favourite. So let me list off some good ones: Two Steps from Hell, Vitamin String Quartet, Kalafina, Die ?rzte, Bodo Wartke (he's not a group, but deserves mention here :V )

Quote
How attached do you think you are to this site?
Moderately. I wouldn't get withdrawal symptoms if I had to leave for some weeks, but I've certainly grown attached to the community and I like being here.

Given the whole tuna/fish thing, how much swimming do you actually do?
Less than I would like to. The last time I went swimming is probably over two years ago. I went to the pool more often with friends in the past, but we just don't get many chances anymore. My swimming skills are basic, but I really love the feeling of being in water~

How awesome am I for having come up with "Wordsmith" for that tag?
   - Can I get Wordsmith and/or IP and/or Spechul Membah for having done so? :V
This is the first I have heard of you coming up with it, but I wasn't around for the discussion, so I will take your word. Go ask Ruro about IP, maybe she's feeling generous :P
http://pastebin.com/f3viBvf4 :3

Will Wordsmith be joinable like Resident Artist++, or will it only be given to the ELITE?
That implies RA+ is freely joinable, which it is not, last time I checked. It was open for a short time, but then got closed again. Wordsmith will be given out like RA+ based on mod-decision (of course users that see someone who deserves the tag should go ahead and point it out to us, via Reports for example ^^)
I meant joinable as in via request. Or does my User CP lie!?

I've asked you before if you have seen any examples of effective illustration of danmaku in the library before, however you said you hadn't.
Now that it's your turn for Ask a Staffer, I demand you attempt it yourself!

Deal?
Tch, no initiative!

I generally tend to take on a minimalist approach to detailwork as well. I find I have difficulty if I try to go beyond a certain level of detail.
Danmaku being a fool's dream, I'd at least like to be able to describe surroundings and people better.

Mystery/Detective Fiction appeals to me as well, but I have barely read any, mostly some short stories.
Does that mean you can't help me solidify Gensokyo Detective Squad? :(

I'll list all for whom I can think of something right now. If someone is not listed it doesn't mean they don't have good qualities, it means I don't know them well enough, or my memory fails me right now :V

TSO: Hard-working
Edible: Hitting nails on the head when necessary
Kilga: Diligent
Matsy: Caring
Ruro: Fair
Nobu: Taking unpopular perspectives in debates
Gappy: Enthusiastic
Purvis: Creative
Vic: Cool-headed
Pesco: freaking mindhax Capability to look at things with a business-attitude
Hele: Calm and collected

You know, it's surprisingly hard to nail down one specific quality even when you have a good impression of the person O__O

I meant joinable as in via request. Or does my User CP lie!?
"Requesting" isn't the same as "joining". A request can be turned down. But if we are talking about requesting, yes, it's apparently requestable.

What's the most important thing you've done?
So far probably the decision to study sociology, because that will be decisive for the further course of my life.
Apart from that, I think everything I did that led to me meeting new people and gathering experiences of all sorts is important, because it's how I became who I am today :3

Inspire me to finish up that goddamn Keine story.
Keine needs more love. I don't recall that there's many stories with her as a main character. She often appears in stories, but usually on the side. "Oh hey, look, it's Miss Keine teaching the kids, give us some info to further the plot and then scram." or "Yo Keine, where's Mokou, she's more important!". Poor Keine herself doesn't get much spotlight. And when she does, it's the light of the full moon and she is displayed as a raging (caving) Ex-beast.
I'd love to read a story that sets Keine as the main character and employs her abilities in creative ways, and I am fairly sure you are capable of writing it, Purvis. You have the chance to present people a Keine they don't know yet.

(Don't take the following answers too serious, because I'm not really jealous of anything :V)

Things to be jealous of the Dutchies:
-Giant cheese wheels (especially Gouda)
-Windmills
-Monarchy
-Flowers
-wooden shoes
-coffeeshops :V

Things you Dutchies should be jealous of:
-Beer glass sizes

"Chicken of the Sea" is actually a brand name of tuna in the States.
But my question is: Why would you settle for chicken when there's "steak of the sea" like dolphins and whales?
As far as I know the number of tunas in existance isn't anywhere close to the number of chicken, so it's kinda weird to compare them like that.
But if we take whales and dolphins into account... well, while some kinds of tunas are endangered species as well, it's not as bad as with whales and dolphins. You'd rather have some chicken than to kill the last cow on the planet, wouldn't you? And chicken is more healthy anyway, if I recall correctly.

You know how pedestrians think of car drivers? And car drivers of bicyclists, etc.? It's like that.
Tunas regard dolphins the same way the driver of an old car regards a modern sports car driver. Meaning they will normally share the road peacefully, but damn will they laugh once they see the other rushing into a tree (or a fishing-net, to keep up the analogy).  :]

What, by your own standards, is the greatest thing you've ever done?
Reconstructing my whole mindset to become the person I am today. I didn't always have that positive attitude I have today. I still like sarcasm, but back then I tended to be outright cynic often. I was still friendly and all, but I wouldn't say I was enjoying life. During a several month long break between finishing school and starting civil service I had way more time to think than I ever wanted. It was during that time, and also during the following months at the social office, that I reconstructed my whole mindset to what it is today, the base of my ability to look at life from a realistic point of view and still enjoy it and have fun while moving forward at the same time.

If I were to choose a less philosophical answer: Organizing and executing the whole trip to Japan in 2009. Best three weeks of my life so far. We got to talk with way more people than I had expected beforehand, which is good because it made the trip more than just "Look at tourist attractions", it made it a valuable and treasured experience :3

Quote
Is Germany really as bad about game censorship as they're said to be?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. First of all, it's all about violence. Nudity is way less a problem for Germany than it is for the US apparently. But beware of the violence, especially against humanoid enemies. It's kinda stupid because the games are still only for ages 18+, the highest rating we have, so why they need to censor it to protect an audience that is not allowed to play it anyway is beyond me. Even worse though, sometimes you have games censored, others uncensored, and a third won't even be released for no obvious reasons.
Left4Dead? Published. Dead Rising 2? Not published. No More Heroes? Censored. No More Heroes 2? Uncensored. RE: Umbrella Chronicles? Not published at all. RE: Darkside Chronicles? Published without censoring.
So yeah, the apparently missing standards and guidelines are a way bigger issue than the censoring in itself.

What's the one thing that can make you smile every time without fail?
Cheerful and peppy music. Or even better, that music with a cute video. This one works all the time. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POFeKd9TTbQ) And this would be one example for a song without a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sxx2PpCY8bw)

What's the best joke you've ever heard?
I'm horrible at remembering and telling jokes. As such, I know there have been jokes in the past that made me laugh, but I can't remember any of them right  now. If I happen to recall again I will answer this later  :ohdear:

Quote
If you entered into a drinking contest with ZUN, who would win?
ZUN. I don't drink alcohol at all. A small glass on new year's for reasons of tradition, but that's about it. Having an alcoholic father is a damn good way to turn one off alcohol for good :P
I also don't like the taste of alcohol, if you want a more objective reason :V

Quote
What's your best personal achievement to date?
That would again be the Japan trip. Though if I am going to go with diversity in my answers, another achievement would be the way I pass uni as one of the best in my year despite me being horribly lazy and doing only minimum work. Either the standards are low, or I am indeed better than I want to admit. (And from all I can say the latter is more likely ;^^)

Quote
What kind of personality would a Tuna youkai have?
Hm, going by the normal traits of a fish: A very calm and quiet personality, maybe even often just standing around staring into empty space and minding her own business. A bit clumsy (how else do they get caught in nets?). Also trying to be friendly to everyone (swarm mentality) and a desire to avoid conflict wherever possible (tunas are no predators after all).
The latter traits kinda apply to fictional Sakana in the Librarian-stories, though the former do not. But she's only half-tuna, after all :3

Quote

I don't have any idea what I am doing here.
Isn't a librarian's job to sort books and sit around all day?
Then, why do I have to run along those roofs like a ninja in the middle of the night?
Thinking back, I should have been less curious.
If I hadn't asked, I might sleep peacefully in my bed right now, like every other normal person.

If I had known how it would turn out, would I still have talked to her?

"We've got ourselves into quite some trouble, eh?"

There was no answer. Well, of course there wasn't. What my words were directed to, wasn't a human, nor any other kind of being capable of speech.
It was a big tuna, floating in the air beside me. Really, I can't explain how that happened either.
You've probably heard of half-ghosts, right? Well, I'm similar. Only that my ghost-half... is a fish-half.

It's not like having an animal with you is something unusual in this world.
I had already seen girls walking around with giant ferrets and snakes, but still... a tuna, and one that's part of yourself at that?

I wanted to curse the gods for my fate, but held back my words.
Cursing the gods is generally a bad idea in a world where many of them were running around everywhere and might just be able to hear you.

But properly answered, Sakana was way before tuna.

Why is it that, even with such an imposing name (real name, :V), you aren't making your way to the top of the boards!? It may be in your blood!
(Yes, he's one of my favorite players)
You are refering to the chess player that shares my name, aren't you? Man, I wish I could play chess even remotely on that level. I suck at chess though, I know the basic rules but that's about it. I'm a bit better with Go, because it gives more chances to compensate for bad moves. In chess, if a piece is beaten, that's it.

If by boards you mean the forums here, well, I like my position as it is now. You know, being the one big person at the top just makes you the prime target for everyone. You gotta be the evil vezir, the Grey Eminence that influences decisions without being directly responsible and perceivable, nyehehehehe :3
Really, I'm a supporter-type, not a leader-type. I leave making the big plans and decisions to others, I rather take care of the execution.

That name rings a bell, but I don't think I have ever heard details. Some wiki-ing tells me it's indeed an interesting book.

While I didn't take my views directly from there, during that time I read the Boddhidharma, the teachings of buddha, as well as "Conversations with God" (the first of the three books), which has some pretty nice ideas about philosophy and religion. I myself am atheist, by the way (or maybe I could fall under agnostic as well, I never bothered to check the proper definitions to see what applies :V )

As for how my mindchange went, let's see what I can recall.
I think the first step is self-consciousness. Not in the common sense, but in that you need to acknowledge yourself as you are. What can you do, what are your skills, what is your character etc. And then you have to accept that this is how you will be for a while.
There's no use being down over "Why am I not like this?". Either you can become it through working on yourself, then there is no reason to cry because you can just start with changing.
Or you can objectively never become it due to different reasons (like, as much as I admire the physical skills of a Shaolin monk, that's simply something I can never reach), then there is no reason to let it get you down either, because getting down over impossibilities is logically silly.
Basically the goal is to be okay with the way you are, be aware of your strengths as well as your weaknesses, know how you can and want to change, but not feel bad about not having reached that yet.

Now once you manage to have confidence in how you are, you can also manage to see things that you did as successes. So what if in comparison to things others do it was only a small thing? Those others don't matter. You did it with your skills and within your frame of reference. And that's a success. One to be happy and proud about. Those that do better than you can be models, goals you can strive for, but they are nothing to be jealous of. What counts is that you yourself are satisfied with how things go.

Another important part is to not let things get to you easily. That is easier said than done, I know, but look at some of the stuff that gets people riled up. So there is that old man walking slowly on the street and blocking your path. Is that a reason to get annoyed and grumpy for the rest of the day? Hell no, and yet for many people it seems to be. Most of the stuff that prevents people from being in a good mood is extremely stupid and not worth it at all.
Especially when it involves other people, you should try to take their perspective. If you were in their shoes, what could be your reason for doing what they did? Was it even intentional? Is it worth getting worked up over? How would you yourself feel if you were going to be blamed for the same thing?
One of the phrases that stuck with me from the Boddhidharma is that: "Once you realize how similar you are to others, it forbids itself to harm them or be the source of suffering"
Getting annoyed achieves one of two things most of the time:
-Pissing only yourself off without others being affected. So you ruined your day, good job, does it achieve anything? No.
-Pissing yourself off and letting it out on the other person without considering the whole situation. Now you ruined two peoples' day, and you will still feel shitty afterwards. Didn't achieve anything either.
Am I immune to complaining about things in private? Nah, not at all. Sometimes you gotta let off some steam. But if you are permanently worked up about things you should sit down and consider if it's really worth it.

This goes hand in hand with tolerance, btw. Many people are going to act in ways that you don't like, but most of the time you just gotta be tolerant to it instead of thinking "Geez, how can they act like that, it pisses me off". You have no right to decide how others should act, and the ways you act might equally not be liked by others.
Always be aware that while you should stand up to your ideas and views, they are for the most part subjective and can be argued, and by no means do they take priority over the ideas and views of others.

So basically, it's about three things:
1) Feeling good and confident about who you are and how you are
2) Striving to keep yourself from letting small things get you down from that good feeling.
3) Think on the right scales. Most things you do will never matter on a big scale, but that is nothing to be depressed about. Your personal small scale is what counts. Those scales can grow and shift, sure, but that's another story.

Okay, this is a giant wall of text now, and it probably answers nothing. But it covers some of the basics that make up my mindset (though by far not all of it), and it's the mindset that makes me into the perpetually positive person I am.
Maybe you can take something from it, that would be awesome. But I couldn't blame you for reading this and thinking "What the hell is that guy going on about" :V

Have you bought an ugly hat for fishing?
I don't fish, and I don't have an interest in it, so consequently I don't have an appropriate hat either :V

You forgot Wacken.  :dragonforce:
I guess that counts, even if I don't care about it (because it's just not my type of music)

What is it you plan to do after college?
I'll probably start out in one of the cities offices. Maybe the social office or the job center, they prefer sociologists for some weird reason. Whether or how long I'm gonna stay there is up in the air. I will probably look into the possibilities of getting into Japan-related research facilities, maybe even aim for a doctorate. Financing would be the main issue there. There is also that idea of an import-shop for Japanese stuff (especially merchandise) that a friend is looking into seriously (he studied economics for a while), because germany has practically nothing of the sort while the interest in it is growing. I'd definitely help him with that project, but we will see how things end up.

What's your best childhood memory?
Hmm, the camping vacation on R?gen (and island in the baltic sea) with my mom and sister. We had a ton of fun there and R?gen's got some really nice places to visit. It was also my first ever trip to the sea~

Quote
If you had to live your life outside of Germany, where would you live and why?
As clich? as that may sound: Currently it would be Japan. While my interest in it started with popular culture, the games, anime and manga, it turned into an interest for the country itself. Japanese culture and the Japanese people are very intriguing and I want to learn as much about them as I can, preferably from personal experience.

If I choose by practical aspects, it would probably be the USA. I can speak English, so I could get around, and the country is big enough that there should be chances of building up a new life somewhere.

What's your thoughts on Text Adventures?
I like the concept of Text Adventures, writing a flexible story from the choices of the players. Unfortunately I haven't read any here. I played in Reisen Quest at the start, but due to timezones I would wake up to three new pages of text each day, which was way more than I was willing to read every morning.

Quote
Would you start one if you had the right inspiration?
Inspiration is less of a problem than dedication here. I surely would have ideas to start one, but I don't think I could keep it running for a longer time.

Yeah. I like bowling, though I'm not good at it at all :V

Quote
Or played Tennis?
Not real tennis, but I have played badminton and table tennis before. I'm no good at either though, because having no proper stereo vision makes games which rely on hitting something small moving in the air a way more difficult task than it already is. Add some bad reflexes to that and you can imagine I spend the majority of those games picking up the ball from the ground

is #atelier-magna left to die?
It was pretty much a spur-of-the-moment experiment by Gappy back then, and well, it didn't get too much activity in the end. If you guys still use it, go ahead and register it for yourself, no problems with that.

If you had a pet tuna, what would you name it?
Probably "Sakana" just for the silliness. And then I could go "Look, this is me! It has the same name! It's my other half!" :V

Quote
What's your beliefs on the afterlife?
"We'll see when it happens". The sheer idea about worrying over something that I don't even know if it exists is ridiculous to me, so I don't even bother. I live now, and someday I die. If there's something after it, cool. If not, well, then worrying now won't change that, will it?

Quote
If you could become any animal, which would it be?
Some kind of bird, probably. Because then I would be able to just fly anywhere and see lots of nice places. Though for sheer hilarity, being a chameleon sounds fun as well. Not a fish though, I can't imagine a fish's life being too interesting.

Does the Pope shit in the woods?
Look at that old man. Do you know where the nearest woods to the vatican are? There's likely no roads there, so he can't use his cool pope-mobile to get there. He'd have to walk,  walk all the way out of Rome to get into the woods. And just for that? Never. He has more important things to do. Eat babies and further his plans for world domination for example.

How many ranks of the cat herding skill has managing the library chat given you?  :V

Pfffffff.
What is the max rank for that skill? Take that and multiply it by at least 3. That should be my current rank. I also gained tons of XP for the Art of Routivation and Valentary Social Work :V

I love it. <3
And I still feel dumb that it took me several months to even notice it. (For those that don't know, click my signature. I only noticed that myself when I wanted to change it and suddenly saw a Youtube-link in there)

Quote
If I came to visit you in Germany, what is the number one thing I must see while I'm there?
For you as an IR student and history-nerd, the Brandenburger Tor and remains of the Berlin Wall would be a must-see I suppose. Checking out the city I live in, Dresden, would be mandatory as well, seeing its history during the war. Plus we have lots and lots of nice historical buildings and museums that are worth a visit. If you have an interest in the remains of the ancient Roman culture, Trier and its surroundings are a very good place to go to.
That's  the places I can think of off the top of my head.
If you can bear some depressing stuff, you could also check out the holocaust memorial and museum in Berlin, as well as the former concentration camp Buchenwald, I suppose.

Quote
When you pinned a single quality to me, did you find it difficult to narrow down all of my magnificent character traits to only one?
Yes. Dissecting the general image of "This is a cool and nice person" into specific traits is hard enough already, choosing only one of those traits is even harder. I honestly don't like having to make statements about people's good traits like that, because naming one means neglecting another. I personally think it's almost impossible to describe someone completely through words.

Quote
How good are you at cooking?
A bit above average within my age group, as far as I can tell. Before uni my knowledge of cooking was limited to cooking noodles, at the most. However one of my friends I met at uni is a very good cook and he would often come over and cook stuff. I watched, learned, and tried it out myself when I had the chance. The things I can cook aren't too fancy, but I haven't heard any complaints and haven't caused any deaths so far, so I will assume I'm doing good.
I want to learn much more and get way better still, because cooking is a lot of fun and enables one to eat a lot of food that you couldn't get from the stores easily. For example, getting manjuu in Germany should be close to impossible, but I can just make them myself. I also have to give curry another try sometime. My first experiment with it turned out tasty, but wasn't exactly what I was aiming for.

Is there anything you regret doing, Although you knew you could stop it?
Not really. Sure, there's some stuff that I think "Could have done that differently", but none of it is really "regret". That is because after all positive and negative events alike made me who I am now. If I had done some stuff differently in the past, I wouldn't be here answering those questions right now, I would be doing something completely different. I'd be a completely different person. As such, from *my* perspective there is nothing to regret, because I like how I am now and things happening the way they did was all part of becoming that.  ;)

Quote
Do you still keep in touch with friends from high school?
Not much. I occassionally meet one of them at uni and we talk for a bit, but that's about it. The majority of my friends I met at uni, because only by then had I become more sociable and open.
The big exception is my best friend, whom I have known since the second year of elementary school. We often meet on the weekends to play games, talk and just have fun.

Quote
Have you ever had an idea so smart that you couldn't believe yourself, but then forgot it?
If I did, I also forgot that I had it, because I can't recall I ever had something like that :V

Quote
Do you have a trashcan in your room?
A small one for small stuff like the wrapping from chcolate-bars etc. The big trashcan is in the kitchen.

Quote
Why am I asking you so many questions?
Because I answer them? :V

Assuming you have no ideas at all, yes, I have more. Not all my own, some ideas are from the channel, but still :3

Quote
What do you think of Eurovision? Do you watch it, if nothing else?
I don't care about it at all. I only notice it in passing when it's mentioned in the newspaper, but that's about it. To this day I haven't heard the song that Germany won with last year :V

Quote
If you had the power to change any one event in history to an outcome of your choosing, what would it be?
That moment when the first caveman looked at his club, then at another cavemen and thought "So what happens when I hit him with tha-"*CLONK*"Oh man, he's dead. Now I can take his cave and food! This is awesome, let's do it on a bigger scale!"
Wherever the mentality that hurting others for your own benefit is totally okay started, that's where I would like to change things if I could.
Alternatively, if we are talking more modern history, whichever event caused the most deaths and crimes against humanity directly and  indirectly. No idea what exactly that would be, that would need lots of research.

What do you think the future will be like?
The same as today, just with more and fancier technology :V
It's too unpredictable, really. Noone can say what will happen to nations and people even  in the next 50 years, not even going to speak of beyond that. I know one thing it will be: Interesting.

Quote
Do you think there's life beyond our solar system?
Life? Yes. Intelligent life? No idea, that's got a much more smaller chance after all. But what do small chances mean with something as vast as the universe? It certainly would be interesting to see how other intelligent species would develop in comparison to humanity.

Quote
If an asteroid the size of a small country was about to blow away all life on the planet, would you use your tuna powers to catch it and drop kick it to Mars?
I kinda like Mars, can I dropkick it into Pluto? That's not even a planet anymore, so noone would care  :]

And it took me months to realize Nobu's edit on mine! How stupid is that. :V

I'd hack a boss into a tuna-loli. That would be way more fun. Making the UFOs tunas would mean I would get frustrated at them, and I don't want to get frustrated at tunas :V

Why did you add me on Playstation Network then never log in again? ;-;
I haven't been playing much recently. And when I do, it's often during my mornings  :ohdear:

Quote
Do you think it was so easy for you to learn English because English is based off German? How easy do you think it'd be for a native-English speaker to learn fluent German like you've done with English?
It's possible that this was a reason for why I managed to learn English so well. There's lots of terms that appear in similar ways in  both German and English, and the sentence structures aren't vastly different, for example. Seeing as many Germans struggle a lot with English though, no idea.
As for learning German... I suppose learning it enough to understand things and to converse in a basic way isn't too hard. But if you want to learn it properly, the grammar apparently is annoying, or so I heard. Many claim it's rather hard to learn.
For example our three articles "der, die, das" are a pain in the ass for many learners. Maybe one of the people here who knows German as a second language (hi there TSO) could answer that one better.

Quote
If a Tuna Saber were the only weapon on-hand, how would you fare against the Catfish Whip?
The most important thing against a whip is to get close to the wielder. A whip has most of its power at the tip, where it reaches the highest speed. So the strategy would be to block hits with the saber while advancing quickly. Ideally hope for the whip to coil around the saber so it becomes useless and then rush in. If catfish whip means it can cause earthquakes when used though....er... throw the saber,  hope it hits, if not: RUN :V

Quote
The blood of innocent strawberries stains Ruros hands, how can you work for such a cold-hearted killer?
I just ate a full bowl of nice sugared strawberries with milk. It was delicious. What were you asking again? :3

Granulated sugar. I have never tried chocolate or honey, sounds worth a try  :]

I can't remember ;___;
I know there were some good ones, but they are buried somewhere within thousands of IRC-chatlogs.

Quote
Ever have something come across as more suggestive than intended?
Pretty sure that happens regularly, yes. And it's usually that kind of situation where you don't even know how things could be taken the wrong way until everyone starts either laughing or giving you weird looks. I can't decide which of those two is better, btw.

Quote
What's your favorite season of the year?
Spring, closely followed by summer. (See what I did the*shot*) I'm not a fan of hot weather, warm is enough for me. The ~20-25?C reach is where I feel most comfortable, ideally with a nice breeze. Plus spring has flowers and trees blooming~
As you can probably tell from this, I don't like cold, though I appreciate a nice snowy winter. If it's gonna be cold, it has to at least snow and look pretty.

Spielberg or Tarantino?
Spielberg, though I haven't seen any Tarantino yet to compare. While I don't mind watching movies, I don't do it often, so I haven't seen many of the things that most people consider common knowledge.
As far as Spielberg goes, the old Indiana Jones movies are amongst my favourites~

Thanks for the help, now why did you run your own country into ruins afterwards? :P

Ask them Soviets and those idiots who believed them. :V

If you think that's all of my persona, then you are way off ^^

Wrong, you're just a tunasword with no character. A loveslave to your mistress Ruron for all eternity! MWAHAHAHA and stuff.

Why is it that you changed from tuna, to a wolf?

Momiji's (the Shrine Janitor's) birthday, and accompanying avatar-shenanigans. I like that Momi there, so I'm gonna keep it for a bit :3

Would Momiji be happy if I give her a bone? If not, then what should I give her?

Momiji likes everything that helps her escape from abuse by Aya. No smokebombs though, those hurt a wolves nose. Things like compromising pictures to throw as distractions are the best gift for Momi. I'm not sure if wolf-tengus like bones, but I will go out of my way and say yes. She can probably find some use for it regardless even if she doesn't eat it. Worst case, she can use it to knock out Aya.
(Though I just recall that Momi is actually superior to Aya, isn't she? Then she maybe could use a good leash to keep that pesky crow-tengu in check  :3 )

If our meal comes with a bone, we'll chew on it. If you throw us a bone like we're a dog, you'll get punched in the mouth :3

Ever tried to convince someone you were somebody else?

What's the best costume you've ever worn? Worst?

Who was the last person to try to eat the tuna?

Nope. I should try on IRC someday :3

I don't like costumes too much, and I absolutely can't think of any that qualifies at best, because most stuff was in my early childhood. As for worst though, there's two choices, and both are from a movie-project with friends. I think the one that was supposed to mimic the Asterix outfit was the worse of the two, seeing as it had pants that were way too big for me and a silly helmet made from newspapers :V Go to 8:00 on this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Y_HmCG0S8c) to get an idea of how horrible it was. Though it doesn't even compare to the cardboard armor two of my friends had to wear earlier in that vid XD
We had tons of fun though, so it's all fine~

Typing or speaking? Because I tend to screw up words a lot when I speak too fast. Typing though, not much of a problem.

Do you own any Touhou figures?

If you could have a figure of any Touhou, which would you choose?

Silly Valentinya.

Tunas don't like kittens.

What do you do in your free time, if you have any?

Actually I like grown-up cats more than kittens. They are cute, sure, but that's about it. And I heavily prefer kittens that behave properly and don't cause trouble :P

Have you seen that kitty somewhere before?
That one that asked me a question just now? Yes, I have, and I know her way better than you would think. Those that know me better will know about just how much I have gotten involved with some things there, and how it has affected me at times. Let's just say it wasn't always pretty, far from it.
Thankfully, things have changed and moved forward, and I sure hope that this kitten is gonna grow up into a nice cat now.

Only a small Reimu, though I will probably get at least one other figure, a big one, one day. I also own a (non-NSFW) Touhou-doujin I bought in Akihabara's Tora no Ana.

If you could have a figure of any Touhou, which would you choose?
Oh damn, that's a hard one.... uhmmmm.... Utsuho, Patchouli, or Suika. One of those three. I never have a clear favourite there, they are all my top-charas.

Silly Valentinya.
Tunas don't like kittens.
Tsundere tunas do  :colonveeplusalpha:

I have more than enough of it, because the Sociology Master I am studying is far from what I would call hard :V
Home activities usually include reading (if I have a good book available) and more often playing games. I have a Wii, PS3 and a PSP, so there's no shortage of  things to play. Less often I also watch anime, and even more rarely I may watch a movie.
When I get the chance, I prefer to visit/invite friends and do stuff together, or go out with them. I regularly meet with my best friend from childhood times and we will just play games together, co-op whenever we get the chance (that's why I'm looking forward to Portal 2 now :3). When I go out with people, we often go hiking, or just play some frisbee in the park and sit together to talk. Tomorrow we're gonna visit a zoo, haven't been there in years and they've built a lot of new stuff by now, so really excited for that~

Ludlum or Dan Brown?

You'll probably disappointed because I don't even know Ludlum  :ohdear:
I like the books I've read by Dan Brown, they were good entertainment. It was chance that I read one of them in the first place because a friend of my mother had the book with him and gave it to me to read. I'd probably give Ludlum a try if I knew what he/she has written in the first place.

If you haven't, then what other MMOs have you been known to play?

I've given RO a try on the MotK-server when it was new, due to constant begging from aforementioned kitten. I was underwhelmed to say the least. Maybe that was because I was just getting dragged along, but I only had fun for a few hours and then lost all motivation. MMOs are just not my type of game, end of the issue.
I like multiplayer, mostly with a game where I can co-op through a story (I never beat RE5 singleplayer, only multi; or stuff like the Dynasty Warriors/Basara games) or stuff like Mario Party/Mario Kart. I've also played some Monster Hunter Tri online, which was pretty fun, but not something I'd do much. I've also played Diablo 2 over LAN before, and we've had a few sessions of Battlefield LAN with friends, which was pretty fun.

What kind of youkai would a German turn into?

What's the fastest speed you've ever gone? (any vehicle)

Friends :V
Well, as for entertainment in the sense of media: Despite the large amounts of games I play, I enjoy books more overall.

Youkai of bureaucracy? Youkai of nitpicking and hair-splitting? Youkai of unnecessary forms? Probably something like that.

How fast does an airplane on its way to Japan go? That is the answer.

For the time being Wordsmith is a prize-title, for the WWC or other writing challenges, so with the end of the last WWC te group was cleared. This might chnge in the future, to make it like RA+ permanently, once we have something else as a prize. Yes, this was different a few days ago, but decisions were made. ^^

So, basically, Nue with the personality of an overly conservative, Catholic, 80-year old elementary school teacher?

Could you picture that with a tuna?

Would the tuna spontaneously combust after being around her for any duration of time?

Only if the tuna was the instrument used to whack students that don't behave.

The tuna would burst into flames from the sheer friction with common sense that youkai would create everywhere it goes, so yes.

I take it the debate on the channel resulted in that?  :3
You are watching the best thing that the "No plot humorous slice of life"-anime genre has produced in a while.
