Waking up From the Dream - Welcome Home

Now also our Discussion Thread!

<Registration is now closed early due to the overwhelming number of interested players. We apologize if you were unable to sign-up.

Hi all~ Gappy's back with Waking up from the Dream! Big welcome to those of you who've never heard of it before. A warm welcome to the returning players from last season.

What is it?

Waking Up From the Dream is a Forum RPG based on Touhou Project by ZUN. The premise is - you are an outsider from the outside world, the world outside Gensokyo. For one reason or another, you end up in Gensokyo. However, now Gensokyo is collapsing and you are one of the few last hopes for survival for Gensokyo's inhabitants. There is only one answer - a select task force of Gensokyo residents must leave Gensokyo and sally forth into the outside world to investigate the reason for this collapse and somehow rebuild their home. To do that, they must survive and carry away the memories of Gensokyo, with which Gensokyo can be rebuilt in full. There is, however, one issue with this plan - The denizens of Gensokyo are beings who are greatly depend on spiritual power, mana. As such, they cannot subsist for long in the mana-deprived outside-world for long without forming a 'mana sharing contract' with someone from the outside world (i.e. you, you lucky mana batteries you). You will partner up with team of partner characters, Touhou characters, of your choice, and, together with your fellow outsiders and their individual partner teams, journey through the outside world to unveil the mystery and one day restore Gensokyo.

What is a Forum RPG?

It's a forum role playing game. For those of you who have never participated in one, it's more or less a collaborative piece of fanfiction, with each player posting short continuations revolving around their own characters.

Who decides what happens?

The overall story, major conflicts, etc. are determined by the GMs (Game Masters). However, everything else, from your actions and reactions in the story, to day to day life, to interactions with other players, are decided by you, the player. There is a great degree of freedom. However, with freedom comes responsibility - the point is to play together with everyone else, to create a story both you and your fellow players can enjoy together.

What do I need in order to play?

Not much. Just:

1) An internet connection.
2) A MotK account.
3) Decent command of written English. Please.
4) Manners and common sense.
5) Respect for other players.
6) A love for Touhou.

Can I control other players' characters?

To a very limited extent, yes. This must of course be done with their permission. If they disagree with what you've written in for their characters then you may be asked to remove the segment of your post that they disagree with. In order to properly capture other people's characters, you must do your best to keep them in-character, to consider how exactly they would react to this particular situation you're putting them in, etc. This takes considerable study of their character, both in-game, and through reading their character profiles. Remember - they have the same amount of control over your characters - if you write in awesome stuff for them, they'll do the same for you.

Are there rules?

Yes, there are. They are very, very simple, however.

General rules
1) Be courteous and polite - respect your fellow players, and in turn they will respect you.

2) This is a group endeavour, a group project - in order for it to be fun for everyone, you must collaborate and cooperate with other players as much as possible. This means, to put it in plain terms, NOT hogging the spotlight, NOT power-gaming (playing as if you're Songoku from DBZ or god himself), NOT ruining the experience for everyone else.

Posting Rules
3) Please begin each post with a time, date, and location stamp, in this format - Time, Date, Location
For example - 8 AM, Day 1, Remilia's Room, Scarlet Devil Mansion, Gensokyo

4) Please, please break down your post into paragraphs. It makes things so much easier to read.

5) Speaking of paragraphs, try not to keep your posts short. 2-3 novel paragraphs at the most.

Story Rules
6) Try to stick together in groups of at least 2-3 players or more. Solo parts aren't all that interesting for everyone else so try to always involve other players in your posts whenever you can.

7) Collaborate and communicate with other players when you can. We have an IRC channel on PPIRC - #WuftD, where most players come to discuss the game.

8 ) Please do remember that you are just a normal human being from the outside world - you aren't superman or Captain America. There will be opportunities to become oh so much more powerful in the game, and starting low and weak, but taking advantage of these and slowly but steadily growing stronger in-game is so much more satisfying and rewarding than starting off as the Hulk.

In-Game rules
9) You are an average human being of the outside world. The outside world is, let's face it, not very magical. As such, you don't have all that much mana to spare to begin with. When in the outside world, your partner is heavily dependent on you for his/her mana supply. Supplying mana for yourself and for your partner is very, very taxing on you - imagine trying to climb up a mountain while carrying another person on your back - it's THAT tiring. Slowly, over time, your mana reserves will build up as you become used to the burden as well as become stronger in-game.

10) Your partner is capable of utilizing superhuman feats and spellcards, much like he/she could in Gensokyo. However, in the outside world, he/she will be expending mana - your mana. At the beginning of the game, utilizing one spell card would drain both of you to near passing-out. Utilizing any more than that can and will kill you. Flying is heavily mana-draining as well.

11) The further your partner strays away from you, the more the contract link is stretched, and thus the less mana they receive. Venture too far away and they will die.

12) Having multiple partner characters is like carrying that many extra people on your back while climbing a mountain. It's that much more tiring and crippling.

I'm a new player. Do I need to know what happened in Season 1?

No. You don't. You arrive in the story as a new character who doesn't know what happened in Season 1. The returning players will start afresh on the same page as you, so there won't be much need for catching up.

I'm a new player. How many player characters can I make?

At the moment - just one.

I'm a returning player. Is this a reboot/fresh start?

No, this is a continuation, a sequel if you will, of season 1. However, in a way, it is also a fresh start. You will again, for some reason you don't quite know, start in Gensokyo, having lived there for a good 2-4 years now, happily living amongst the other denizens of this fantastic mythical world. You're not quite sure what you were doing before you arrived in Gensokyo, knowing only that you're from the outside world.

I'm a returning player. Can I make a new character?

Yes, you can, if you so wish. Your old character will be removed from the game, however.

I'm a returning player. What's going to happen to the other old players who aren't returning?

There is an in-game reason for why they aren't returning and why their partners were freed from their contracts. You will find out what this is as the story progresses.

I'm a returning player and I had a RAI Force character. What will happen to him/her?

You can choose to keep him/her or have him/her removed from the game. Like everything else, there will be an in-game explanation for his/her removal.

How are partner characters for my team assigned?

It is requested by the player and assigned on a first come, first serve basis. At the moment new players are able to put down up to 6 characters on their wish list in order of priority. Provided you are the first to request (and the character doesn't already belong to a returning player's team), you will receive your first choice. If not, you will receive your second, and so on. You will be guaranteed to receive at least one primary partner character. Provided nobody else requests them as primary partner characters and nobody requests them as a secondary partner characters BEFORE YOU, you will receive up to 3 secondary partner characters as well.

Returning players are allowed to keep their old teams or swap out for new ones.

Is there a character creation system?
Yes, there is. That will be coming soon once registration is mostly done. And yes, there will be a full character profile sheet.

Who's organizing it?

This time around, we've got Nemoma and E-mouse acting as primary GMs. I'll be around to supply the story and whatnot (basically, I'm now advisor/assistant/backstage overlord), but most things will be organized by Nemoma and E-mouse.

How do I sign up?

Okay, sure.

Player Name: Sect
Returning player : No

Planned Character name: Hugh
Planned Character gender: Male
Partner Character Wish List:
1st Choice: Nazrin
2nd Choice: Fujiwaya no Mokou
3rd Choice: Mystia Lorelei

Perfectly willing to work with people on character choices, though.

EDIT: Just making the changes I detailed below. Also, my choice of Nazrin is highly dependant on factors that I need to get with Gappy about, since I have ideas I want to do that are based on the concept of the game, and would actually involve me and Nazrin being away from other players for certain amounts of time, which is probably a no-no.

Three questions, one, how long will this take approx.? Like... 5 threads? Two, can my player name be the same as my characters name? I really dont feel like thinking up a name other then Kips, though I guess I could always use my first name... And the third is that, would more characters mean more "mana" being used up for our character?

Player Name: Kips
Returning player : No

Planned Character name: (undecided)
Planned Character gender:
Partner Character Wish List:
1st Choice: Yuuka.
2nd Choice: Wriggle

Team Name: It'll most likely be called "FlowerxBug" or something. I'm personally fine with just Yuuka and Wriggle though, since I dont exactly want too many people on my team. seems a bit OP and would be annoying for my character.

You probably have at least a few days' time before the event even starts, so no need to rush decisions for all OC information (but try decide quickly on and to stick to partner choices, to speed up the partner assignment process later on); the creators are likely trying to get a general feel for the interest of Neo Waking up from The Dream right now.

Keep in mind also that while most of the returning players from the first WufTD have many Touhou characters listed underneath them, those arrangements are not necessarily final, either.

IIRC the Lunatic endings show them returning to Gensokyo since Yumemi was booted from her university due to her work on Magic not being believed.

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot-0-KyPd0Y)  HAH!  Rin goes into the "not yet got, but got my eyes on" pile!  Mind you, might be nice to see someone else's interpretation, and I already have four characters already even if three of them aren't exactly some people's first choices for reasons I cannot fathom SO WE SHALL SEE!

There's VIVIT-r, yes, but she's a jerk.
Besides Yumemi's top priority for me, dunno of someone has her already. Remember the list is for priorities, we new players only get one character.

>only one character

I just reviewed this with Nemo, and it means you only get to control one original character, not just have only one mana partner (a Touhou). In the first WufTD, there was at least one player who controlled two or more original characters, and each of those characters had more than 1 mana partner. This time, they're limiting the number of original characters per player to 1, possibly to remove issues from the first WufTD.

There are actually several VIVITs, namely Vivit (Erich's Daughter), VIVIT (Shuusou Gyoku's heroine), VIVIT-r (Banshiryuu's heroine), and many others (seen in Banshiryuu's 4B stage, as normal enemies).
First one cant use magic to my knowledge. The rest are, I would assume, game. So I guess that makes it three VIVITS who use magic? But then again... hmmm.

Planned Character name: Kips (same as player name due to omfgirunoriginalbastard)
Planned Character gender: Male
Partner Character Wish List:
1st Choice: Yuuka.
2nd Choice: Wriggle

Team Name: It'll most likely be called "FlowerxBug" or something. I'm personally fine with just Yuuka and Wriggle though, since I dont exactly want too many people on my team. seems a bit OP and would be annoying for my character.

There, my final draft of my character. Wooo.

Using the same player and original character name does not make you unoriginal. I use my real name because I don't like hiding behind an alias.

The "OP" or overpowered issues (choosing Touhou characters that are widely regarded as stronger than other Touhou characters) will be balanced out, don't worry.

Player Name: Erebus
Returning Player: Yes (

Team Name: Badass Freakin' Overlord/Makai (Name change under debate with brain monkeys).
Character Name: "Owlbear" (Name change under debate with brain monkeys)

Team Members
- Shinki

*After some debate with brain monkeys (and a clarification on what to do on irc) I'll let my other two teams go on the bus/stasis for a while. Know that I still have interest in them however as I was in the process of fleshing out their character during the last RP and sorta got...cut off when it died. I don't really like the idea of dropping what I had planned for them just yet when I didn't even have a chance to get anywhere with it so, yeah.

The teams I had before were...

- Tewi
- Yuugi

and

- Yamame

I have decided to drop Tenshi Hinanai; her recruitment was not well thought through at all and her appearance contrived. To be honest, I have no idea why I thought it was a good idea lol
Yeah, um... For similar reasons, I'm considering dropping Nue from my team.  Although for me it's just a "maybe" for now, but still... Hopefully by the end of the day I'll have fully made up my mind about it.

Yeah, it's interesting how that worked since I had that many when the original game started before (Spidercats was the last one I made before the limit was placed on a not!restart earlier).

I'll figure out something to do, because I essentially had something planned for all three, but...:V

I don't blame you, we just went through a big long discussion over how to handle tons of issues with transferring the first WufTD's history over to the second, so there are a lot of loose ends that need tying up.

Post by: E-Nazrin on April 11, 2011, 07:01:17 AM
We aren't nearly as prepared for this as anticipated!

Since we aren't starting from scratch and a lot of people have complained about the canonicity of some parts of the previous incarnation (such as the random genderbending, catgirl possession, flash-in-the-pan OCs that vanished after three posts, and chatted-but-unposted Day 5 shenanigans) we're having some trouble deciding how to deal with previous players that aren't returning - and the effects that this would have on the Touhous they had.

Since the reboot is expected to start with some fashion of putting old characters 'on the bus' (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PutOnABus) in order to allow such drastic reorganization, we're gonna try and find out what to do with the previous players' original characters: a few have expressed acceptance of having theirs killed off, and for a few turning them into 'NPCs' that stay out of the way would be plausible - but would lock those characters from others to use. And in all cases, the inheriting player would have to deal with the touhous' memories of what happened in the old WuftD and whoever was taking care of them before - particularly tricky if their relationship with the old 'master' was close (such as Remilia and Kojiros) or if they played a major part in previous events.

I'm/We're going to try and contact former players to get their preferences about how to deal with their OCs for the reboot, to see what they'd prefer done with them - I'm also inclined to give returning players priority for their previous selections even if they haven't already signed up at the start. Between this uncertainty and the difficulties with established characters, I'd like to give this tl;dr summary: 'Used' Touhous from old!WuftD may be more difficult to get, and could be either locked or subject to conditions about understanding the previous game. We've yet to work out exactly who or how, but you have been warned!

I'll edit in a list of used characters in a bit, hungry and this needs to be posted already. CEREAL FOR THE CEREAL GOD

Unconfirmed characters that have been used in the old WuftD:

Key:
As mentioned, there are a few aspects to the difficulty of inheritance - mainly, previous emotional involvement with their original 'owner' and participation in significant plot events (thus influencing the memories of other characters that are staying). To separate these, "E" and "P" ratings for Emotional and Plot involvement are given, with lowercase being less significant and bolded being very significant. For a rough understanding:

e = Acquaintances together mostly for mana sharing that don't know each other well or especially care.
E = Know each other well for a relatively long time and/or have expressed romantic interest or deeper sympathy.
E = Lovers or best friends for life; major 'breakup' difficulties.

p = Throwaway mentions in a few scenarios and/or only present for a handful of events; MIGHT be easily retconned.
P = Played a significant role in events in the main story.
P = Played a vital role in at least one general event, or hinted as being vital to future events by MTG.

Extras:
? = Not confident this is a good rating (due to memory failure)
* = Unusual circumstances around the point that may make the rating deceptive

Highly Responsive to Prayers:

- Mima (E*, P*)

Story of Eastern Wonderland:

- Rika (E?, P)

Phantasmagoria of Dimensional Dream:

- Ellen (e*, p)
- Kana Anaberal (e*, p)
- Rikako (e?, P)

Perfect Cherry Blossom:

- Merlin (E, p)
- Youmu (E, P)
- Yuyuko (E, P)

Ghostly Field Club:

- Renko (E, P)

Curiosities of Lotus Asia:

- Rinnosuke (e*, P*)

Imperishable Night:

- Satori (E, P)
- Orin (e, p)
- Utsuho (e?, P)
- Koishi (E, P)

Undefined Fantastic Object:

- Kogasa (E, P)
- Byakuren (e?, P?*)
- Nue (e?, P?*)

Miscellaneous Characters:

- Rin Satsuki (e*, P*)

--------

This list is mostly done from memory, so I may have missed a few, but I THINK this covers most of it.

If you really want these characters, you may want to read up on the original (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,90.0.html) story (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,100.0.html) to make sure you have an understanding of the backstory you're inheriting - it's a long read, and a lot more dense than the Z-machines and such, but not bad. (I may or may not be able to add a link to Nemoma's extensive archive of the story, once I can ask about permission for that.)

As another warning, a few parts of the previous story ARE going to get retconned, so there may be some debate over how much to keep of later or unimportant events (especially the genderbending portion, which Nemoma has expressed a strong dislike for, and Pedonymous' claim of Kisume which didn't last long at all).

Wall of text and etc but this shit needs to get done sometimes

EDIT LIKE SEVEN: Revamped rating system at Ken's request.

You didnt have Wriggle in the IN part of your post, btw.
Is it required to read through the whole thing, Or will someone give a summary, Or will some people just not know backstory at all? I'm fine with really either one, but I'm not sure about all the other people here. I honestly doubt that many people want to go through something much "heavier" then Z-machine.

Uhm...

I'm a new player. Do I need to know what happened in Season 1?

No. You don't. You arrive in the story as a new character who doesn't know what happened in Season 1. The returning players will start afresh on the same page as you, so there won't be much need for catching up.
Being able to read is quite a nice thing, ain't it? One would think you read through the OP properly before signing up...

To clarify (with spoiler risks) -

1) again, there is absolutely no need to know what happened in season 1. Everything that new players might need to know they will learn as the game progresses.

2) Relationships with previous partners won't matter too much  for two reasons - at the start of this game, while in Gensokyo, nobody remembers anything beyond 4 years ago for reasons they aren't quite sure about. At the point the game starts, as far as everyone is concerned, the happenings of season 1 never happened......whether or not their memories resurface later is something you'll have to find out in-game. :3 Reason #2 - the 2-4 years befriending the new partner would probably mostly, if not completely, override anything else prior. HOWEVER, if you do wish to make the previous partner's relationships an actual character development issue, there is plenty of potential there for emotional and personal development.

3) Returning players may be asked to give up any secondary characters they had if a new player wishes to have them as a primary character - this will be discussed and negotiated beforehand, of course. I myself am willing to give up Marisa and Alice. To be honest, we all picked up multiple partners in the previous game because there were a lot left over after registrations closed.

4)  Again, all new players are only allowed one OC player character. They will be guaranteed at least one Touhou partner character, maybe more depending on how many are left over at the end of the sorting process.

5) We may have to impose a player limit. This will be discussed soon. But new players who have signed up so far can rest assured of their place in the game.

6) E-mouse....how long did it take you to write that post....? o_O

7) Sakana-niichan is PLAYING?! o_O

You didnt have Wriggle in the IN part of your post, btw.

"That have been used." I omitted characters that never explicitly appeared in the previous incarnation, and I don't remember Wriggle ever showing up at all. It's from memory, so I might be wrong, but there should be nothing special to worry about in her case; there's nothing to review specifically about her situation.

If the girl (or guy) you're looking for isn't on that list, then there should be nothing to worry about.

We'll probably put together a summary sooner or later, or at least give a public summary of the overall events and PM specific details and/or posts to read to people that would need to know the history of their Touhous once we get a better idea of the team setups to move into the reboot with.

I say give it a day or two before PMing me to track it down, if you don't feel up to trying a full review. If you'd rather skim, it was mostly MJP (AJP? I forget, the acronym guy with the sprite avatar) that dealt with Yuuka through one of his alternate characters; check his posts and you'll probably find the detail I'm talking about (though you probably won't understand the context without a summary and/or reading through things; most major events are Gappy/MTG posts, again for skimming ease).

Tbh, I don't really care/bother any more how Taihou is handled, as long as he is not played by anybody for the rest of the game. I rather have him die some lame death than being played lame and non-stylish.

So you can come up with any event you want like:
- He got lost
- Sakuya missfired a knife, he died
- Mokou got carried away, he died
- Keine erased him from history (never existed)
- (ry

:V

Though I will be occasional lurking how you people are doing. So good luck with the restart.

EDIT LIKE SEVEN: Revamped rating system at Ken's request.

The issue with the old "rating system" that I found, was that the previously stated measurement of "importance or significance" regarding the Touhous used in the first WufTD was ambiguous; it could either indicate a Touhou's deep ties to the story, or a Touhou's deep ties with a previous player (e.g., Nitori was first labeled as very important/significant, but I found out that was labeled as such NOT because she had a deep relationship with a player in the first WufTD, but because she had a huge role in the main story of the first WufTD). There is a distinct difference, and figuring out which one it is (could even be both) could significantly impact Touhou partner wish lists, if one is not willing to accept a Touhou partner with potential locks/hindrances due to previous deep relationships with their past partner. Thus, I felt there was a need for the differences to be distinguished (instead of the first system, which merely classified Touhous with a question mark [not as vital to plot/attached to partner in the first WufTD] or without a question mark [essential to plot/very attached to partner in the first WufTD]).

Nevertheless, Mouse is a trooper. I would tip my hat if I had one on.  :D

After reading through part of the first thread, I'm going to drop out. This seems way too complicated and advanced for Kippy.

The following is the character profile. The actual stats system will follow. The stats system will be implemented to act as a guide to what your character can and cannot do realistically in-game. This is done in the hopes of making better, more balanced character, and, hopefully, to make your characters more realistic and believable as well. It will also hopefully prevent powergaming....though I'm sure none of you are powergamers, right?

Character Creation

Rules:
-    All characters must be approved by all 3 GMs.

-    Original Characters must not be related to any Touhou character by blood.

-    Relationships with other characters, canon or original, must be discussed with the
     player beforehand.

-    No godmodding. Please. No godmodding.

-    The GMs may ask you to make changes and modifications to your character if they have any reason to believe your character is in some way unsuitable for the RPG. Please keep an open mind and cooperate with them. This ensures a quality gaming experience for yourself and your fellow players.

-    If theGMs believe you have failed to follow any of the rules above they can choose to not grant their approval.

Steps:
- Read the guide.

- Plan your character. Use the blank character sheet as a guide.

- Complete your character sheet.

- Wait for GM approval. 3 'Seals of approval' from 3 admins/moderators are required before you can start using your character.

- If the admins/mods believe some changes need to be made then please make them as requested.

- Enjoy! Best served cool with a big helping of Awesome!

When completing your character sheet, please keep in mind that other players may refer to it when writing in your character so try and make it easy for them by making things as clear as unambiguous as possible (and hopefully interesting!).

Remember, RPGs are all about having fun with others, not about feeding your ego. Please try and avoid godmodding if at all possible. Remember, we all enjoy watching underdogs climb a steep cliff to victory, falling and getting hurt but gritting his/her teeth and getting up once more, overcoming all the unfair odds, before finally triumphing and coming out of his/her journey a better person?.rather than see uber-superman Mary-Sue save the world yet again?and again?and again. You get the idea. The more humble your beginnings, the sweeter the victory at the end.

The character sheet must include the following:

Descriptions of each field:
Picture
A picture of your character to allow others to visualize your character better. This is entirely optional. You may use a pictures you've drawn yourself, pictures by other artists (credit them if you can. And if you can't, at least don't claim them as your own), or use Create.swf by KirbyM (http://www.walfas.org/flash/create.swf).

Name
What?s in a name? Well, everything, really, especially in a text RPG. This is your assumed identity while roleplaying.  So choose wisely.

Gender
What it says on the tin. If in doubt, consult the nearest biology textbook. Only two possibilities here, male or female, nothing in between, please, for the love of Shinki-sama!

Somebody raised the question regarding crossdressers (Read: TRAPS). Technically that goes under the 'clothing' section. It doesn't matter what they wear, as long as what's underneath is either one or the other, nothing in between.

Age
Again, what it says on the tin.

Also, please remember that your character?s age determines your character?s personality, intelligence, strength, range of experience, etc. 6 year old humans CANNOT be Einstein-level geniuses, neither can they slice through a mountain with a single katana slash, neither can they eat jam donuts without once licking their lips (ok, granted, most people can?t do that at any age, but you get the idea).

If you wish to be cryptic about your character?s age then it?s somewhat acceptable to use approximations or ????.

Visual Description
Here you may describe your character?s visual appearance. Make sure you fill out the following fields. If you like you can add further details.

Hair colour
This is Japan. Anything goes. Your hair colour is part of your identity and defines who you are. They also act as colour imagery, mirroring your character?s powers or personality. Fiery characters tend to have red hair. Calm, collected characters tend to have cool blue or green hair. Off course, as with everything else, there are always exceptions.

 Hairstyle
Again, this also defines your character?s identity. It also mirrors your character?s personality, probably more so than hair colour. For example, messy tousled hair is a good indication of either laziness, a busy lifestyle, or lack of regard for looks in general. Silky, smooth, well-kept hair may indicate the opposite or perhaps a well-off/spoiled sort of lifestyle. Short hair may indicate tomboyishness in terms of girls. Also, twin-tails or small ponytails may be considered childish or cute while long, flowing hair may be considered mature.

Eye colour
?.need I say more?

Clothing

Your clothing, like the rest of your appearance, makes up your identity.

Origin
Everyone has a place of origin. Where?s yours? It should be a place in our world somewhere.

Home in Gensokyo

Home sweet home. Everyone has some sort of place they call home, even if it?s only a small nest, a hole under the roots of a tree, a simple palace, or a measly mansion. A place where one can kick-back after a long day?s work (or lack thereof), enjoy a meal, and rest in a warm bed for the night, feeling safe (Somewhat) and secure (sort-of). Even if you are from a place outside Gensokyo, since we will be starting inside Gensokyo it would be preferable to have a home somewhere within Gensokyo.

Occupation
What were you up to in the outside world before you somehow ended up in Gensokyo?

What are you doing now in Gensokyo?

Most inhabitants of Gensokyo have some sort of occupation?or at the very least, something to pass the time. Some do it for money, some do it because it?s their station in life, their purpose, and some just do it because they have nothing better to do. And some are, well, unemployed, and happy to be so, it seems.

Personality
What it says. Unless you?re a machine, you must have some sort of personality. Personalities differ from people to people, making everyone unique individuals. Like everything else, it makes up who they are, their identity. Also, personalities influence how a person would react to a certain circumstance, be it a disaster, an opportunity, or a simple social interaction.

When writing up your character?s personality, try to answer the following questions: How would your character react to a challenge from a stranger? How would they respond to a request for help? Would they go out of their way to resolve a disaster should they notice one? Or would they be more liable to go cause one or complicate existing ones? Or would they go out in search of personal gain?

Also, personalities change and develop as the person matures, so don?t let what you write here restrict you. Rather, let it be a foundation on which you can develop your character further.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions
What drives your character? What is he/she living for? This can be anything from merely getting the next meal to creating your own corporate empire. It can be more than one thing. It can even be an entire things-to-do-before-I-die list. As with everything else, you can edit this as your character finishes or earns new objectives and goals as they go along.

History/Background
Unless you?re some sort of really strange mythological creature, you probably didn?t just pop into existence yesterday night. Everyone has some sort of history, where they came from, how they came to be, the circumstances that turned them into who they are today, what they are currently doing, what their purpose in life is, their life?s ambitions and goals, what they?re doing to achieve said goals, etc. i.e. everyone has a past, a present, and a possible future. What?s your character?s?

Theme (Optional)
Every character has their own theme song. It?s all the rage these days. So if you want to keep up with the hype you?ve got to have one too! It should reflect your character?s personality and background if possible. Links from youtube or music streaming websites are most preferable.

Fun Facts (Optional)
This is where the fun facts and trivia regarding your character goes. These are essentially simple little anecdotes that don?t quite fit in the other sections. Things like name meanings, likes and dislikes, and such. Read the fun facts section of the character profiles on the touhou wiki to get a better idea of what goes here.

Additional Information/Background/History
Your character isn?t static and inert. He/she is dynamic and evolves in reaction to events or to adapt to new circumstances. The only constant thing is change. This is where you record your character?s development, how his/her personality, experience, history, etc. changes and evolves as they progress through the story.

Relationships

If you're not making any friends, you're not using enough firepower.

No man (or woman) is an island. Your character will make many friends and enemies as they live out their lives in WuftD. Your character?s interactions and relationship with others will define him or her, give depth to his or her character, and ultimately cause him or her to change and develop, for better or worse. Sometimes relationships will take your character down completely unexpected and surprising pathways. As others shape you, you help shape others. Together you will define and shape your own unique community.

Name: Annalessa Delaris (Anna for short)
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Origin: Underground private residence in Northern Japan
Home: A largely plain house just inside the forest
Occupation : Spends the vast majority of her waking hours drawing battle plans and noting ways old wars could have been won much more easily...also, does a lot of archery practice.
 Visual Description:
?   Hair colour: Medium length, shock white hair, with a faint tinge of blue
?   Hairstyle: Straight, and down to her shoulders, covering a single eye
?   Eye colour: Ice cold blue
?   Clothing: Whatever casual clothes she has on hand, usually a loose shirt and a med-length skirt. If she is of the inclination, a Chinese dress altered for ease of movement.

Personality: Emotionally repressed, may seem somewhat cold, calculating, and indifferent.
?   Likes: Strategy and drawing up battle plans
?   Dislikes: Anyone she judges to be an 'idiot' (May lead to severe snarking)

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: At present, she wishes to know her purpose for existing, and to learn more about other humans (Hopefully she will not grow to see them as inferior, or cattle.)
History/Background: Anna was 'born' in a small research facility in a remote section of Japan, her parents having volunteered to experimental procedures for the purpose of raising an intellectually superior child. Her parents, afraid of the influence regular children might have on their precious creation, kept her hidden away in a special, closed off room in their home, where she could focus all her time into study. Several years later, there was an accident, and the wall sealing her in was blown away by the explosion, freeing the girl, completely ignorant of the outside world, to roam, all on her own. Her arrival in Gensokyo is an unknown factor to her, as is the origin of her forest home.

Post by: Jana on April 12, 2011, 12:07:33 AM
Name: Jan Monteiro

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Origin: United States

Home: Scarlet Devil Mansion (Library)

Occupation: Former student; Library assistant

Hair Color: Dark Brown/Black
Hair Style: Somewhat short and wavy, parted over Jan's left eye and combed to the sides.
Eye Color: Dark brown/Black
Clothing: When working in the library, Jan adopts a style of dress similar to his coworkers' with a suit and tie. During leisure time, and before having entered Gensokyo, Jan wore either t-shirts or polo shirts, blue jean pants, and running shoes. One thing he always wears is a pair of metal-rimmed glasses, becoming increasingly more beat-up as time goes on.

Personality: Jan tries to be friendly to strangers, but still seems to be a cold individual to outsiders. However, he can show a good sense of humor and genuine kindness to those that he trusts. Gaining this trust is as easy as being friendly in return, and having the same interests as him (Japanese culture and entertainment, as well as psychology or other intellectual pursuits) helps too.
Likes: Reading books, exercise, challenges.
Dislikes: Bugs, the dark, spicy food.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: Jan simply wants to learn more about the new world he has found himself in. Learning magic is secondary to learning about his new home, but it is also important to him.

History/Background: A college student in America who had been studying psychology, Jan decided to study firsthand how a foreign culture and way of life changed the thought processes of others. He quickly chose Japan, being a bit of a weeaboo fan of anime, manga, and Japanese games, as well as having an interest in their culture and history. Having spent much time in the larger cities, he decided to journey to rural areas and learn about the more traditional Japanese life and how the people there would act differently from those in the somewhat more Westernized city. It was while traveling in the countryside that Jan was caught in an accident.

It was this ?accident? that brought him to Gensokyo. After a brief amount of time in the Human Village, he made his way to the library of the Scarlet Devil, seeking to put his knowledge to use. After managing to prove that he could be more of a benefit than a liability, he began living and working in the library.

Theme: Determination of the Right Eye (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNmn8SeBJao)

Fun Facts/Other: Jan has a high tolerance for pain, and his stamina is very high. Even if he is not particularly strong or fast, he can go on fighting or running far longer than others. And while he is smart in a normal capacity, his ability to analyze and predict the actions of others could be said to be his real strength. He is short and light for a man of his age, standing at a little over five and a half feet tall and weighing about 135 pounds.

His fighting style could be likened to that of a street brawler, as he depends more on his stamina to keep him going than any techniques or special skills. When given the option, he prefers reaching weapons (provided that they are light enough for him to use well). Jan has some limited experience with projectile weapons, including bows and smaller firearms.

Picture:
This (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25711440/RPs/WufTD/ken.png), but without the cigarette, with one brown-colored eye and black-rimmed glasses instead. (Artist: umu)

Name: Ken Shojiki
Name Origin: Ken is the player's real first name; "Shojiki" is based off of "Shoujiki", Japanese for "honesty" or "integrity"

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Origin/Home:
  -Real World: United States
-Gensokyo: The Human Village, Keine's next-door neighbor

Occupation:
-Real World: Student, avid racquetball player
-Gensokyo: Former Student, now Teacher Assistant at Human Village school. Studies swordsmanship and magic; Recently began training to be a Guardian of the Human Village.

Visual Description:
-Hair color: Very dark blue (almost black)
  -Hairstyle: Short, mostly well-kept
-Eye color: One brown, one blue; wears full-rimmed glasses
-Clothing: Dresses more modernly than most in Gensokyo. He has a favorite signature jacket, but usually sticks to simplier attire such as T-shirts and shorts. During training, he wears a more light and loosely-fitting outfit similar to that of Rinnosuke Morichika.

Personality: Willing to give everyone a first and usually second chance, Ken values trust and flexibility in others; he reflects this with his friendly attitude, but getting on his bad side is surprisingly easy. He will not hesitate to say what is on his mind, if at least to come closer to realizing truth. His honest and analytical side can sometimes lock him in on a single subject or issue, and he becomes very determined to resolve it or figure it out.
-Likes: Logic, technology, involvement in discussion, being appreciated, honesty. He is actually very sensitive, and may crack and break down or lash out if ganged up on verbally or otherwise ostracized.
-Dislikes: Being left out, triviality, unfair or unjust treatment and behavior. Can hold a very cynical view of people, due to his upraising and experiences in the real world.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions:
  1) To preserve the happiness of himself and others as best he can.
  2) To preserve fairness and justice for those he befriends, allowing all to be fairly heard.
  3) To further his knowledge and satisfy his intellectual curiosity.

History/Background:
  -Real World:
Ken was a 21-year-old student studying at a university. He was double-majoring in software engineering and psychology, which led him to become very analytical and considerate of others in nature. However, this also led him to believe that his general unpopularity in high school and early college was due to the ignorance and narrow-mindedness of others. His awareness was only heightened by his love of racquetball, as he would play often. He developed moderate cooking skills, taking an interest in cooking since his first year in college. Ken's family was very supportive of him, and he got along with his entire family, including his younger brother. He also enjoyed watching Hokuto no Ken and it is an inspiration for him.

One night, he had a strange nightmare and woke up to find himself outside of his apartment room. Surprised, he looked around and saw trees; he was in a forest. This was not his home, far from it...something had gone horribly wrong, but he felt too exhausted to care. After struggling to find his way out, he collapsed in fatigue.

  -Gensokyo:
Ken would later realize that he was in the outskirts of a forest, just outside Gensokyo's Human Village. A beautiful silver-haired woman had come to his aid, fighting off the youkai about to consume him. He later ended up living in a house next to hers, in the Village. After identifying himself to her, she slowly introduced him to the facilities and lifestyle of the Village. It was completely different from his college life, but he slowly adjusted. He always questioned the chance of returning to his world, and although he missed his family dearly, tried to make the most of his current situation. The woman who had aided him, Keine Kamishirasawa, was impressed with his quick mind and reflexes in and around the classroom and asked him to be her Teaching Assistant. Eager to find a purpose in his new life, Ken obliged, and he became her employee for several years. Keine wondered if he could put his skills to further use outside the classroom, and when he was halfway through his 23rd year, she asked if he could study to become an emergency Guardian of the Village, to defend in the case of attack. Having grown to appreciate the kindness of everyone in the Village regardless of age, gender or race, Ken was more than willing to return the favor to her. To do so, he had to become physically stronger and faster, and he took up the sword. He began to study various magical books that she provided for him, and it soon became apparent that he had much potential as a magician, as well. Now 25, his training had just begun, but he did not know that his big test would come much sooner than expected...

Theme:
The Small Print (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1_Ri9dms8o) by Muse

Fun Facts (optional):
  1) He is inherently nicer to women because he has had much more pleasant friendships with them.
  2) He is good at analyzing situations, but not the best at executing plans. His leadership is still lacking, but he is good at taking initiative and always tries his hardest.
  3) He secretly likes cute things, but will try to justify otherwise.
  4) He becomes very irritated when being pitied or lectured to in a condescending way.
  5) He wears glasses all the time, even during training. He claims that he must become deft enough so that losing his glasses during a crucial battle will not happen. He can actually see well enough without them, though.
  6) While he has much potential in using a sword, as well as casting a variety of elemental and regeneration spells, he is still a novice in both his power with them and putting them to practical use.
  7) He loves working in teams, and does his best to ensure the team's success in any way he can. Secretly likes to be a strong leader when he knows what he's doing and help guide others.

Additional Information/Background/History:
-He found one of his favorite CDs from the real world in his jacket pocket when he first arrived in Gensokyo. This is the only thing aside from his clothes that he still has from his previous life in the real world.
-He has visited Rinnosuke Morichika's shop, Kourindou, with Keine once. He bought a half-working CD player from the shop and occasionally listens to the CD he has.

Relationships:
-Keine Kamishirasawa: The devoted and self-proclaimed guardian of the Human Village, and its school's primary teacher. Having known Keine for several years after she saved him, he idolizes her. He's devoted to working hard for the sake of the Village she strives so hard to maintain and protect. Some may call his relationship with her a "student's devotion". Others may suspect otherwise...
-Reisa: A mostly hard-working fairy of lightning sent from the Scarlet Devil Mansion by Patchouli Knowledge to help Ken with his magic studies. She is playful but serious when necessary. In the start of the story, Ken is starting to see her as a little sister, even though she is childish sometimes. He takes pleasure in having her around, especially to help learn magic.
-Himiko: An enigmatic, quiet young lady with an interest in magic. She became Ken's acquaintance on Day 1. He finds her intriguing, but cannot put a finger on why. He hopes she would contribute more, but he suspects she has her reasons for hanging back.
-Kasen Ibara: A calm, mysterious hermit with a bandaged arm. She became Ken's acquaintance on Day 1. He does not have much information on her as they have hardly interacted.
-Hatate Himekaidou: A spiritual photographer, and Aya Shameimaru's rival. She became Ken's acquaintance on Day 1. He does not have information on her as they have hardly interacted. She did not seem peculiar in any way.
-Fujiwara no Mokou: A hotheaded, eternally youthful woman with powers over fire. Kaguya's rival. Ken became friends with her on Day 1. After meeting her, he sees her as a highly aware woman and a friendly, encouraging rival of sorts. He is somewhat attracted to her harsh, lonely nature and more crude manner of speech and behavior. This is most likely due to how it clashes with her beauty, as well as her forward personality and initiative. He has already been put in close situations with her several times, and the two seem to get along regardless.
-Reisen Udongein Inaba: A collected rabbit from the moon who can manipulate wavelengths. Eirin is her mistress and Kaguya her Princess to protect, although she is usually a doormat and easily taken advantage of. Ken became friends with her on Day 1, although he's seen her in the past selling medicine in the Village. He appreciates her down-to-earth personality and gets along with her rather well. He knows she hides some things and is curious to learn more about her. Secretly finds her personality and appearance very attractive. Fascinated that her ears tend to be mood indicators.
-Hina Kagiyama: A graceful yet detached woman with control over curses. Ken became friends with her on Day 1. He does not currently know much about her, but feels slightly more worried around her for reasons he does not know.
-Nitori Kawashiro: A friendly but initially shy kappa from Youkai Mountain. She is interested in technology and enjoys a swim every so often. Ken became acquaintances with her on Day 1. He thinks she is cute.
-Sakuya Izayoi: The elegant Chief Maid from the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Fiercely loyal to her Mistress, the Scarlet Devil. Ken became friends with her on Day 1. He does not know much about her yet, but does know about her combat prowess firsthand.

Visual Description: Lean build, calm face, doesn't afraid of anything
?   Hair colour: Silver
?   Hairstyle: loose style(kinda bowl-cut)
?   Eye colour: silvery blue
?   Clothing: black t-shirt, blue jeans, brown boots, red duster

Personality: Calm and collected but usually not serious, he watches how things go closely but doesn't intervene often.

He was taught various forms of martial arts in borderline-torture training that allowed him mastery of so many types in little time. When he was 17 his father left to help America in war and his mother fell ill soon after. Vant worked for several years, managing the household and caring for his mother until she died. Vant began wandering for years, disappearing into fantasy(read Gensokyo) where he found his way up to the Moriya Shrine. The goddesses took him in where he began rebuilding the shrine from various danmaku battles. Several months later he finally opened up to the Moriya family and now spends his nights gazing at the stars and drinking sake with the goddesses. He's also gained a close relationship to the gate guard of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and frequently visits in order to train his martial arts, among other things.

Name: Yoh Hirowaza (last name/first name)

Gender: Female for all intents and purposes of this RP. Much prefers to be referred to as a "he" and will be referred to as such during the RP.

Age: 14

Origin: He doesn't remember. Meira says she saw an envelope on Hirowaza's person with a faint address scrawled on it. The astute will note the only readable place written on the address was "Kanagawa."

Home: Outskirts of the Human Village, enroute to the Forest of Magic. He lives with Meira and VIVIT, acting as sort of a caretaker and ghetto engineer for the latter.

Occupation: In the real world, he was a former student-cum-ghost hunter. However, he spent more of his time exorcising rather than studying, and eventually had to fall out of it. Now that he's in Gensokyo, he has an excuse to go out on lighter exorcisms that would make Reimu laugh at him for trying too hard at something he'll never be as good as as he once was in the past. When he's not busy trying to make ghosts explode, he carves good luck charms that he tries to sell at the Human Village. His business is not that great, not too many people seem to believe in the occult acts Hirowaza tends to tout as "lucky" that he casts into the charm. Meira finds the business as (quoted verbatim) "a cute attempt at trying to play Kourindou."

Visual Description:
Hair Colour: Jet-black
Hair Style: Long, straight, clean, hime-cut
Eye Colour: Heterochromia, red left eye due to magical influences, hazel right eye (natural eye colour)
Clothing: Characteristically defined by a white coloured turtleneck along with a long, modest, black skirt for as long as his height allows. Another note is he wears a spiked black choker around his neck.
-
Here's where things start to get a little iffy. Hirowaza is biologically 14 in this case, but his physical appearance is that of an eighteen year old, excepting that his height is actually the normal height for his age. He is aware of the fact such a physical state is "abnormal" to say the least, but he doesn't remember at all about how this happened to him. His hair is shoulder-length, jet-black in color, rather ordinary, indeed, as it is kept straight for the most part. To say he is well-endowed would be a ridiculous understatement, he would make most people with implants annoyed and jealous - that is to say Hirowaza doesn't really enjoy having such huge breasts in the first place... You know what, just go watch Eiken and it'll be clear. Anyway, his body is not really slender, but not chubby, seems to be quite fitting of his large... uh, chest. Very femininely mature, which betrays his actual age. Again, Hirowaza has no knowledge of how he arrived in this form, except the vague memory of being immolated by something. To hide his humongous chest he wears a really tight sarashi, which occasionally restricts his breathing and hurts him something fierce. His face is nothing special, though, his eyes are something to note. He has an awkward case of heterochromia - his magickal nature have rendered his left eye permanently stained red with the colour of his mana trace, whereas his right eye remains hazel, which was his natural eye colour.
In terms of wardrobe, Hirowaza is surprisingly modern. He doesn't like wearing the traditional clothing as he once was forced to in the real world due to his family. He became more modest and has donned a long-sleeved white turtleneck accompanied with an equally simple black, long skirt. He doesn't like to wear jackets, so he wears these in case it gets cold outside. He does not wear ornaments aside from a spiked black choker he does not recall ever getting, but wears it anyway because "VIVIT thought it looked nice."

Personality: Hirowaza is overly serious to a fault. He doesn't like screwing around too much unless he feels too lazy to do something, in which case it turns into apathy rather than outrightly being laidback. He's also got quite the mouth, you would never expect a fourteen year-old to be able to speak the way he does, sometimes unnecessarily vulgar or sardonic. However, he does try to be tactful about things, unless he's provoked too far or he's feeling particularly passionate about something. Unfortunately, Hirowaza gets offended by things easily and can't really handle jokes too well. Despite these glaring flaws in his character, he is, for the most part, a reliable ally to have both in terms of the battlefield and in terms of life, for he seems to be able to know things far beyond his age. Not even he knows why. While he does have a bit of a short fuse, he is for the most part a very dedicated person to most things and also very heartless in the hunt, allowing his inhibitions in normal situations to be thrown aside and easily step toe to toe with a dangerous entity, whether it be to protect someone or for revenge.

As a result Hirowaza isn't the most approachable person in a crowd. It takes more than just being nice to be able to know him really well. Sometimes you can cheat if you know how to press his buttons, but for the most part he tends to be quite intimidating. However, if you do manage to get him to warm up to you, he's not such a bad person. He is simply just bitter from his past experiences and vengeful at the nature of man, thus he greatly enjoys the company of his companions Meira and VIVIT (the latter serving as a reminder of his otherworldly nature). At the end of the day, Hirowaza is just a loner in the world trying to fight for answers to not only his own questions, but eventually for the safety of the greater good. Why else would he have become so zealous to ghost-hunt with his powers?

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions:
1) To find the answer behind his curse
2) To find out more about his past, and why he is the way he is now
3) To survive

History/Background:
Hirowaza was born to a clan of exorcists and ghost hunters, similar in vein to the exorcism abilities of a certain Reimu Hakurei, though of weaker strength. As a result, he was brought into training at a very young age and underwent rigorous regimes, which hardened his resolve and for the most part moulded him into a very serious person. However, unlike his family who developed basic Japanese exorcism abilities, Hirowaza was gifted with a far more advanced ability, which seemed to be unknown at the time. This was the ability to invoke strange enchanted weaponry and trinkets from magical charms he conjured from his mind. Hirowaza would later dub this the art of "Charmcraft." For the most part, his knowledge of the craft helped him eliminate the poltergeists and ghosts he saw, but he was having a difficult time living up to the standards of his parents as he was also studying as a student. Eventually, his abuse of the overpowered nature of "Charmcraft" started to take his toll on him. The infectious magickal energies invoked after every casting started to have visibly negative effects on Hirowaza. For instance, his left eye became stained with a magickal overload, which is now a blood red in color, leaving a trail of magick with every movement of his head. This made him a target of ostracizing by people at school, as they were afraid of abnormality and the "unknown." He also looked very feminine at the time and girly, making him a common target of harassment by males, which has led him to become bitter and vengeful towards them.

Eventually, Hirowaza was asked to stop attending school and continue the ghost hunting business, which he reluctantly agreed to do. As the effects of Charmcraft became more and more dangerous, Hirowaza started falling sick very often. His parents noted this and decided to visit a fellow onmyoudou to see what was up. The onmyoudou could not decipher what the sickness was at the core, all he could predict was that Hirowaza was undergoing a process that many of those that follow "a certain faith," in his words, were striving to achieve. It seemed that after that seemingly useless counsel, that night, there was a loud noise. His parents went to see the source of the noise, and found that it was in Hirowaza's room, and that the original body of Hirowaza had strangely been replaced by that of a little girl with what seemed to be... an unusually healthy chest for her age. What Hirowaza was wearing was also on the girl, but most seemed to be burned. They were clueless for a few moments until they remembered what the onmyoudou had said, and then they sighed in relief. Hirowaza had somehow taken the form of a little girl overnight, and he did not know how it came to be. He tried tapping into his abilities, but for the most part had been severely weakened. He surmised this was a lesson of his overuse of the ability. He shrugged and continued living life for a few months.

One night during the 11th month of the year, there would be a traditional celebration held by his family to commemorate the establishment of the clan, which had been living for several hundreds of years. Hirowaza was not interested with such egregious gatherings, so he opted to spend some time at the local shrine in his area. He donated an unusually large amount of money to the osaisen box and spent some time in contemplation by the shrine's main complex, wondering what had happened. Soon, he sat down and fell asleep sitting down. While he slept, he encountered a strange vision where he swore he could see someone who looked like his long lost sister fighting with... someone who looked a lot like himself. He could hear the words being spoken loudly and clearly. "No matter what you do, you are doomed to the most agonizing death of all - the death of your soul. You are cursed with this gift of yours, your soul is slowly being eaten away." Hirowaza tried to make sense of these words, but another voice spoke. "You are burning, both gloriously, and in lament, for the burning of your soul is like the flame on the candle flickering - it could go out at any time." Hirowaza was shocked to find this out, but when he woke up from his deep sleep and snapped out of his vision, he found himself in front of a small house on a lonely hill somewhere nearby a forest and a small settlement. He had somehow landed into Gensokyo for no discernable reason.

When he woke from his slumber, he heard the battle cry of a woman behind him, he stood and deflected the attack with one of his Charms. The woman seemed like a ronin of sorts, this woman would be known to be Meira, who would become one of Hirowaza's closest companions in this world. She was impressed by his awareness, to which Hirowaza responded "It comes in the job description." Eventually, Meira forced the stranger's story out of him, and learned he was similar to Reimu. This idea scared her at first, but after Hirowaza insisted he definitely had nothing that could hurt or kill anyone in Gensokyo, Meira felt it would be alright to lead him around and show him the ropes. At first, Meira turned Hirowaza into her errand boy, and had him go to the Human Village often to do errands for her, or go to the forest to get firewood. Eventually, Meira felt it was the right time to "promote" him to someone of equal stature, it had been more than a year now. Eventually, the two became sparring partners to hone their skills. Then, Hirowaza brought up his strange vision to Meira, and wondered if he could ask anyone about it. Then she advised to ask "the strange girl in the forest with many books and dolls," to which Hirowaza wondered if she was really the right person to ask as opposed to just conveniently visiting a certain Library.

Meira insisted on Hirowaza's trip to the Forest of Magic and in several moments he was kicked out and forced to go. Sighing and keeping his chin up, he ventured into the forest. During his search for the dollmaster, he found a strange "wreckage" in a clearing in the forest. It seemed to be fresh, as the mess in a crater was still smoking a lot. Hirowaza sighed and just couldn't bring himself to leave it there, for he could sense that this was actually... something more than just a wreckage. Instead of visiting the dollmaster, he took the wreckage back home.

"What the hell is this?" was the response he got.

Hirowaza sighed and wondered if he could get the mess fixed. After several months of repeatedly visiting the shop in the Forest, Kourindou, Hirowaza was finally able to fix the machine with help from his Charms, and reactivated the machine which looked somewhat like a robot maid, but not quite. The robotic entity introduced herself politely to be VIVIT and made herself known to Meira and Hirowaza, who then suddenly felt sick. While he was outside, Meira asked VIVIT what kind of energy she ran on. The response she got was some sort of energy called Saboten. She had no idea what it was and dismissed it as hogwash. When Hirowaza returned, presumably to throw up, he inquired about what he had missed. VIVIT explained how she worked, and that she ran on an energy typed Saboten. Hirowaza tilted his head and asked how Saboten worked. VIVIT said she wasn't sure, but Hirowaza remained suspicious - when VIVIT was activated, some magickal energies within him reacted harshly and made him feel sick. He sighed and knew that VIVIT's presence would hamper him from using Charmcraft effectively, but he couldn't bring himself to leave a machine like that alone, he wanted to have her around. Meira could tell that Hirowaza was actually feeling a little lonely and respected the decision. Soon, the robotic maid became a mainstay in the Meira household.

Things became a lot more exciting and Meira could tell that Hirowaza was truly at his happiest now, and not much could really change that - outside of the shenanigans the three had, Hirowaza was mostly way too serious and cold. That changed when it was the three of them at her house. He became nice and started to collect wood from the forest to try carving, as he was able to be a ghetto engineer in repairing VIVIT. He then started a small business selling the "good luck charms" he crafted. Unfortunately, he hasn't been doing too well. On the side, Hirowaza is now currently allowed by Meira to go around on his own trying to practice his exorcisms.

Fun Facts (optional): Despite Hirowaza's past, he would much rather be referred to as a "he" than a "she." In spite of the body change, he somehow still feels he should be called a male. He hopes nobody will ever see him unclothed. Realistically speaking, VIVIT and his own curse are extremely limiting factors to his fighting ability - should the Saboten influence be absent, Hirowaza is probably able to hold his own against other youkai. He refuses to back down from a fight once he either picks one or gets into one, as well, and it takes protests of more than one person to get him to stop, unless it's from Meira or from VIVIT.

Picture: Coming soon when I feel like drawing one.
Name: "Owlbear", true name is lost due to amnesia.
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Origin: Virginia, USA
 Home: Makai (Lives with Luize)
Occupation: Vassal Servant of Shinki

Visual Description:
•   Hair colour: Black
•   Hairstyle: Short, curly. Can be styled in an Afro if he grows his hair out.
•   Eye colour: Dark Brown (sometimes mistaken as Black)
•   Clothing: Likes to dress loose and casually, having a black, hooded jacket with an old white t-shirt beneath. Trousers usually consisted of a pair of denim jeans but will occasionally change depending on the overall tempreture around him (he'll lose the pants and go with basketball shorts if it's too hot). Servitude with Shinki has changed this attire drastically, in so much that he now wears a suit fitting for his job as a servant; a black colored suit. This seems to be the only thing that bothers him about working for Shinki...he hates getting dressed up. A constant seems to be a pair of glasses, to which he usually needs given he's farsighted. Has a navy blue baseball cap with the words 'Wal☆Mart' located on the front, which everyone seems to dislike him wearing...

Personality: A free spirited individual who likes to live life on his own terms and loves lazing about. Although to himself most of the time, he doesn't mind the company of others, becoming a friend of his isn't that hard either (provided you have one thing that's in common with  then it will be easier to befriend him). Once you have him as a friend he'll show a strong loyalty to the one he sees as his 'bro', doing what he can to defend them if he needs to. Doesn't seem to like the concept of 'leaving others behind' and will try his best to help others even if he is reluctant to do so, this is due to the fact that he seems to feel guilty for the person's suffering as he could have prevented it by helping them. Can be fairly emotional if pushed far enough, usually dropping his quiet demeanor and outbursting in anger towards the one who provoked him. He's not above throwing hands if he has to and will usually see violence as the first option if he's angry enough. One of the largest issues with Owlbear's personality is that he's a "child at heart (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Manchild)", and hasn't fully grown out of many of the things he used to do as a kid. One major problems dealing with this is the fact that he doesn't like accepting responsibility when he needs to and isn't above avoiding situations that require him to do alot of 'growing up'.

Owlbear's childish demeanor is often reflected in the activities he likes to indulge in and in several other instances of his personality. For the most part, Owlbear really enjoy playing video games and forgetting the fact that he's 22 years old and, as a result, has responsibilities as an adult. Owlbear does have the potential to focus and grow the fuck up...he just doesn't want to because he's too lazy to accept many of his duties as an adult.

Thankfully does not throw tantrums.
•   Likes: Vidjya Games, drawing, originality/individuality,
Shinki
.
•   Dislikes: Reading books with no pictures, Working too much, Vinegar, "yuri", conforming to a majority.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions:
- Has an interest in Makai's geography and wants to learn more about it.
- At some point, become a better servant than he is now. He knows he's not the best and wants to change this, but...
- Find out what the fuck happened to his memory. Yeah, there's that...

History/Background: A 22 year old, african american (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TokenMinority), college student from a backwater, country town located somewhere in central Virginia. Attended a community college for general studies and was, apparently, going to aim to become an artist. Of course, he usually has a lack of interest in much of the coursework he needs to do and usually likes indulging in his long time love for video games and computer meddling. For the most part, Owlbear held a fairly average life for his age and was nearing his final year in college, however, this would all grind to a halt thanks to an odd accident that would take place and would change his life forever. Near the community college he attends, there sits a large, rolling field a signpost stating this location to be the town of "Carson", yet nothing remains. No one knew what happened there, no one seemed to care...all except Owlbear. He's held an interest in why "Carson" was the way it was and was fixing to check it out after he forced himself to drive to the location toward the town that never was...

Sometime afterward, Owlbear awoke in a room he...didn't quite recognize, finding the accomadations much different from what his old house was. Owlbear was not alone here within this house of mystery as a young woman by the name of Luize was also present and seemed to have been the owner of said house. Luize came to explain to the college student that she had found him unconcious in the outskirts of Pandemonium and gathered several demons to help carry him to her home. The demon asked if he knew of where he had come from or if he could remember how he got into Makai. Owlbear could recall no such information...not a single trace of where he had come from or from what his life was like before entering this realm. Even his name seemed to have been lost to him...the college student giving himself the name Owlbear as he told Luize he couldn't seem to remember his original.

With nowhere else to go in Makai but the very place he was brought to, Owlbear began staying with Luize although remaining jobless as he himself didn't even know what he was going to do in Makai now that he was here. That said, the former college student, now grade A slacker, proceeded to laze about and draw whenever he could find a pencil and paper to do so. For a time, Luize didn't mind this rather lax lifestyle of his, but after a while...it was clear that even though Owlbear was doing pretty much the same thing all day and that she would have to give him a much needed push if she ever wanted to get his lazyass out of the house. That said, Luize pestered the aimless slacker into becoming a an errand boy for one of the maids within Shinki's Palace; Pandemonium, seeing that the job itself was fairly simple enough, even for him. Even though his laziness made him work slow, Owlbear has proven to be rather useful as far as housework is concearned and would come to remain there. Owlbear has even stated to Luize that one of the reasons he has stayed was that the prescense of Shinki is something he enjoys...even though he only sees her in passing during his work hours...

Relationships

- Luize (Landlord): Luize took Owlbear in when he had no home to go too, as such, Owlbear lives with her as a tenant. Used to be a mooch until she psuedo-forced him into getting a job working for the demon god; Shinki. The two seem to get along well, but Luize will get a bit fed up with Owlbear's laziness and immaturity if he persists with it.

Yuki and Mai (Troll/Disdain): The two have met once or twice in Shinki's palace, Yuki has a penchant for teasing Owlbear while her 'friend' Mai seems to see Owlbear as the 'busted wheel' to the workforce of demon maids and usually labels him as weak. Although Owlbear sees some good in Yuki despite her teasings, Mai seems to be the opposite of this and Owlbear has even come to call her 'an ice queen'...which is also a pun given her affinity in magic.

- Yumeko (Stage 5 Boss): Due to his job as working for Shinki as a servant, Yumeko became Owlbear's superior by default. Yumeko has a rather no nonsense disposition and as a result usually sees Owlbear's laziness as annoying. Owlbear seems to fear Yumeko to a large degree and will easily shape his ass up if she's showing signs of going full on 'pissed off demon maid'.

- Shinki (Supreme Final Boss*): Owlbear works for Shinki and therefore she is his superior, ranking much higher than Yumeko, obviously. Even though Owlbear has only seen Shinki a few times, he feels compelled to try and get to know her. Yumeko intimidations usually do not help in this respect. Shinki herself seems to acknowledge Owlbear's existance and is rather curious of him, if only due to his human background.
*this is probably not a word

Other

- Alice Margatroid (Passing rumors): Has hear of 'Shinki's daughter' through rumors from the other demon servants who work for Shinki. Owlbear often wonders on why this 'Alice' would run away from home...

- Sara (Passing compliments): Much in the same to how he's heard of Alice, Sara is someone the demons of Shinki's palace praise for her job as Makai's gatekeeper (despite her fail during the mystic square incident). Owlbear hold's respect towards her, knowing that guarding an entire dimension from harm is no easy task.

- Reimu Hakurei ("why whould she do this...?"): Was told of how the shrine maiden came to Makai, along with 4 others, and fought with Shinki resulting in it's destruction by the goddess' hands. Although, this is mostly Makai based propaganda to breed disdain towards the outsider who caused chaos in their realm, Shinki seems to see this in a different light as the true problem on the matter was sort of...her fault. Nevertheless, Owlbear does hold the name Reimu in discontent but doesn't outwardly despise her...

Fun Facts (optional)
- Has a tremendous sweet tooth and a cavity to show for it. Said cavity has been filled but will act up on occasions depending on how sweet the food is that he ate.
- Although he's something of an man child, he DOES show moments of higher intellect. Those who knew him back home have praised him for saying that "he's much smarter than he lets on to be". Although this may be because he's playing stupid so people won't ask him to do things, no one can really say.
- Has a knack for fighting, but his laziness and lack of training don't seem to work well with whatever fighting skills he may have. Owlbear favors Wrestling moves.
-
He's a mama's boy.
Although he seems to have forgotten his life and family outside of Makai, the effects of this still remain.

Name: Daimon "Daigo" Gordon
Gender: If I have a gender I prefer it to be multiple choice! Male
Age: 25
Origin: Most recently, the Canadian Wilderness
 Home: Wherever he may roam
Occupation : Kung Fu Fighter
 Visual Description:
?   Hair colour: Brown
?   Hairstyle: Like a matchstick
?   Eye colour: Brown
?   Clothing: A red jogging suit with black trim and sunglasses

Personality: Dai is flamboyant in the extreme and never says anything in fewer words than he needs or has to, or without some kind of inflection, like William Shatner's worst nightmare.  He enjoys testing himself against strong opponents in any field, whether it's debate, fighting or cooking (where "strong" is defined in terms of level of skill) even if he is not particularly good at whatever he is attempting.  It is the challenge that matters more than the actual accomplishment.  He also tends to say exactly what he feels before even thinking about it, causing him to blurt out numerous uncomfortable or embarasssing facts, or point out the obvious in a situation.  He has a strong sense of fairness and always repays favours, and hates few things more than people who go back on their word.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: To find a way to escape from his contract Take over the world WRRRYYYYY

History/Background:

Daimon was born to a family of (faux) Wicca practitioners, the Gordons, who saw the look of a warrior in his eyes from the day he was born.  Unfortunately, the look of a warrior is the look of death and they mistook it for the evil eye so they named him Daimon.  He was pretty evil.  Throughout his childhood, his parents tried to forestall the cruel fate they believed would befall him, a life of killing and death (by killing) that would only end when he was put down like the rabid dog he was, so they drilled good old-fashioned American values into his head.  When he was 10, his parents were contacted by Social Services after a concerned neighbour overheard them talking about their "demon" of a child, and he was sent to foster care, where he was beaten up by the other children for having a stupid sounding name.

His only comfort was kung fu action movies, which he watched with an almost religious awe.  In kung fu movies, the criminals were always caught, good always triumphed over evil, and justice was served with a side helping of badassery.  Over the course of three years he tried everything - being a smartass, insulting his tormentors, ignoring them, trying to compromise with and befriend them (though not necessarily in that order).  He once resorted to trickery, playing harmless pranks in order to get revenge and make them see that he was more than good enough to run with their little gang, but they just beat him again in reprisal.  The adults all meant well, and tried to help him, but they always thought that because he retaliated against them it was he who had the problem.

Dai decided that the only thing the other boys would understand was fear, and that no one in a position of authority could be counted upon for help.  Slowly he began to fight back.  He built up his tolerance for pain, endured the beatings silently, and then reached for whatever weapon was available at the time.  At first it only got worse, and when the adults found him trying to bash another boy's brains out with a brick they put him in solitary confinement for a week and beat him themselves, but he learned and learned quickly.  His first lesson was the golden rule: Don't Get Caught.  What he couldn't accomplish through diplomacy or trickery, he accomplished through fear.  Everyone hated him but nobody touched him, at least not when he was looking.

He continued to study martial arts, watching through the window of the local dojo as the rich kids practiced karate, and copying their moves.  Later he hung out with the workers, the stuntmen, and eventually the lowlifes of the city.  He learned how to brawl with the best of them at night while during the day he recited the Bible and did his times tables.  Eventually he got a job as a stuntman himself and by the time he was 18 he made a living starring in low-budget obscure action flicks that nobody cared about.  Although he had paved his way through hard work and determination, it still wasn't enough for Dai and as he became more successful he became more and more ambitious.  The independent film scene began to die out and it became more and more difficult for aspiring actors to find jobs, the best having moved on to try their luck on Broadway long ago.

There was no outlet left for Dai's strength but the underworld and he descended to the level of a common thug.  His flamboyant, outspoken style did not intimidate people as effectively as it used to when he only dealt with weaklings on the right side of the law and he never got particularly far.  As a smalltime crook, he got virtually no takings and could not muscle in on gang territory without incurring their wrath.  Sadly for him, he got desperate enough that he did just that and was hunted down.  No matter how good he was as a fighter (at the time, not that good), numbers were not on his side and they clubbed him unconscious, drove him to the Canadian border, cut him up and left him to bleed out in the snow.  Far from home and with no evidence that he was a murder victim, Dai was fated to...er...die right there and then.  That was the day Gensokyo died.

Escaping the chaos were a number of magical creatures both spiritual and temporal.  One of them was a spirit of chaos and destruction that caused, according to popular legend, untold destruction through earthquakes and floods.  This spirit, assuming the appearance of a catfish, was drawn to the strongest, most desperate soul at the time and it found Dai.  In his dying delusional dreams, it made him an offer - revenge and an extended lifespan in return for letting it share his body in a symbiotic relationship.  With no other alternative, Dai accepted without thought for the consequences and the catfish spirit possessed him, filling his body with strength and magic.  Sprouting a pair of nightmarish wings, he flew with inhuman speed, pursuing the gangsters back to the hole they called a home and burned them to a crisp with lasers of pure hatred.

After this, his mind finally reasserted control, demanding that the catfish uphold the other part of its bargain - an extended lifespan.  He argued that extending his life implied allowing him to live it as well, and the catfish reluctantly agreed, but warned him that as long as he rejected it he would never be able to access the full potential of their contract.  Dai simply shrugged, and the catfish advised him on where he should wander from then on.  Having nowhere else to go, Dai listened.

Theme: Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sqz5dbs5zmo)

Fun Facts (optional): Dai does not much care for Bruce Lee.  His preferred action movie star is Steven Seagal.

?   Clothing: A white jacket most of the time, black jeans and brown shoes. This is his signature look, there are casual changes in coloring as the days pass.

Personality: Down to earth, but still heavily influenced by his background, Wodan's willing to help a friend with whatever he can do, even if it's something impossible to him. When things are looking grim he will accept this fact, but he'll also reject the idea of retreating or cheesing things up. If it's worth doing it, it's worth doing it the best way possible. He also possesses a very developed sense of justice: Wodan won't let any injustice unpunished if he's capable of doing it. Of course, being a rather common human in Gensokyo means that he's constantly unable to step up to the plate as many times the offenders are Youkai, and even Wodan knows that he has no choice but to let that pass.
?   Likes: Video games, Mechs of all sizes, SCIENCE!, swords, and justice being served.
?   Dislikes: Guns, unfair combat, esoterism, homeopathy and obsessive use of magic.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: Making name for himself on this place. Even if it's only on the human village, being well known is his biggest desires. That is because he believes deeply that the true death of one comes when he's forgotten by everyone.

History/Background: His pre-Gensokyo life wasn't the most exciting one. Son of two old-time otakus that have been delving on the mecha genre, he caught up quickly to said trend, loving everything mecha ever since he was 10. This love of mechas has developed into a love for science overall. The night of his 20th birthday, he went to sleep like always... but the morning after, Wodan woke up with a very annoying pain in the back. What the hell? He wasn't on a bed anymore, but in some plains. Red eyes were wollowing him as he approached what seemed to be a small village... the human village. In here the people taught him about Gensokyo, and all he needed to know. Surprised on how he never met the shrine maiden while everyone else got to meet her when arriving, he thought... maybe he's a special case. Trying to disregard this fact as much as he can, he has started to live a peaceful life in the village, helping everyone with what he can. And thus, several years have passed...

Theme:  Positive Force (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb7iqAq-eFg)

Fun Facts:
-For some reason, his parents managed to give Wodan the same name than a Mech-related character that would be known to the world several years after his birth. He has proceeded to flip out at them several times in the past due to this.
-Apart from SRW Games, he's in love with shmups, to the point that he has cleared some of the hardest games, all of them related to mechs (Like Dodonpachi, Ikaruga, the like). For some reason he goes out of his way to avoid games related to magic like Deathsmiles or Touhou.

Picture: Here's one, just ignore the clothing :V (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/903132/afuro_terumi-androgynous-blonde_hair-inazuma_eleve)

Name: Joey Tolo

Gender: Male

Age: 22

Origin: Michigan, U.S.A

Home:
(Before Gensokyo)Small Cottage on the outskirts of Sawina Town
(In Gensokyo) A small one room shack on the edge of the Scarlet Lake, a good midpoint between just about everything.

Occupation : ~*~Jack of all Trades, Master of None~*~ Proficient in carpentry, minor engineering, odd jobs.

Visual Description: A male 5'5" in height, his body is somewhat toned on the arms and legs. His hair blond and parted down the middle, its length going down to his waist., some times it's tied in the back as a ponytail, a little frizzy and messed up at times.  His eyes a dark, ocean blue, usually having bags under them from late nights and early mornings.  Dress style is usually a t-shirt, varying in color from day to day, stars a common theme, blue jeans with a simple leather belt, watch on the left wrist, and two bracelets on the right, one studded while the other is red with stars, his shoes a simple, somewhat worn down pair of blue chuck taylors.  He usually has a olive green satchel with a few black stars strewn about it, kept shut with two strap and buckle type restraints, what looks like a handle wrapped in leather sticks out from under the flap.

Personality: He's a carefree, easygoing person who enjoys life the simple way.  He cares for his friends and family, or just about anyone he sees and thinks isn't bad, and doesn't like it when anyone messes with them, is willing to scrape and tussle to protect them.  When things get unnecessary complicated he starts to get angry.   His mind tends to drift off from time to time, either from ideas on things to make, or from personal fantasies.  Enjoys rainy, storming, and snowing days, sunny days are nice too but get a tad bit too hot.  He's weak against anything spicy or hot, and generally dislikes the heat.  Being simple, he is also truthful, and would hold a promise till the end.  He dislikes staying still or being stuck in a spot for a lengthy period of time, a natural tendency to move about.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: None really, other than to live a joyful life with that special someone, make a living without stretching the money.

History/Background:  Living a normal life in the Midwest of the U.S., he lived a somewhat academically advanced school life, getting into the occasional accelerated class and such, maybe roughhousing and getting into the occasional fight.  As he graduated High School, he went on to College to become an architect, living life from day to day, dealing with the daily grind of life till one day he stepped out in the wrong place.  It was a late Saturday night when he was walking around to clear his head, taking a wrong turn he stumbled upon a mugger and the muggie, and in a fight or flight response, he tussled with the mugger, knocking him out for a while, running away with the muggie, a young girl with slightly curly brown hair and a slim face.  The two got to know each other, enjoying their time from day to day occasionally.  As life continued on, it soon stumbled into another late night stroll, where instead of taking a wrong turn, the wrong turn took him, took him by bashing him over the head with a nice big rock and dragging him off to some run down motel room.  As he awoke to the rugged, messed up face of the mugger he saw a few weeks ago, he learned that a man knocked out is a ticking time bomb to one's life, as Joey soon found out by getting a few hard whacks across the knees with a metal pipe, busting one of his knees into bits before he was tossed off at the entrance of a hospital.  Eventually he recovered, a bit of limp and drag in his steps, but life moved on none the less, eventually him and that girl split up, if it was that she found someone else or his busted leg due to the dark side of the world dragging at him, he never knew, and never really cared afterward. After finishing up his semester that year, he decided to take a bit of a retreat to foreign countries, starting with a lengthy stay in Japan, living life out of an old shack on the outskirts of a small town, from odd job to odd job, though from there everything gets a little blurry.....

After the fuzzy parts, all there is it that he found himself on the edge of a large lake in the middle of winter, and soon encountered Letty, got to know here while looking over the frozen lake, and things kicked off from there.  Needing a way to live, he works day to day from odd job to odd job from the magical forest, to the human village, and through out the few years he's made himself a small shack of a house on the shore he found himself, went to hell Makai and back, making a friend or two, hanging out at the Hakurei shrine like everyone else, and enjoying some flower petals in another afterlife, or technically an afterlife even though he wasn't dead, just on a small trip to Hakugyokurou.  Day to day he lives his life, a different tale for each day.

Fun Facts: While growing up there were three things he always watched, Hockey, Boxing, and Wrestling, and while living life, he's learned a few things from having to drag knuckles against a few hot heads and thick skulls and the antics he's seen on the tube.  Later on when he was introduced to the internet, another thing graced his watch, that being mecha, which he's become a fan of since, but more for the old school.

During his teens in High school he got his driver's license, and started to learn things about cars, and how to drive them in style to show off, since then knows his ways around engines and how to turn a car on a dime, what happens afterward not included.

He keeps a random assortment of items in his satchel due to his constant traveling about Gensokyo, rope, matches, candles, snacks, and a home made beatstick, about 4 feet in length in total, half of a foot being the handle wrapped in leather, the length of it flattened into being 6 sided, being at most 3 inches wide.

Awaiting approval

Picture: (to be added)

Name: Etch E. Sketch

Gender: Guy

Age: 24 Years

Origin: Nowhere USA

Home: A small shack near the human village

Occupation : Odd jobs (still learning to get along without the Lappy)

Visual Description: A 5'9" light skinned person who is getting a tan, what with all his time in the sun. He has shortish black hair and a goatee
usual clothes= Beige long coat, dark blue shirt with an alien head pattern on the front, black cargo pants. May or may not have shades on him

Personality: A bit headstrong, despite hi attempts to keep a cool head and look at the situation. Doesn't like doing anything he doesn't like. Maybe it's laziness, or is it procrastination.

Likes: Sweet, sour, or salty foods. Kittens and hanging out with the guys.

Dislikes: His current financial situation. Bad things happening just as things are getting kinda ok. (Come on, guys, let a guy relax for one sec)

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions:  1) To live life to satisfaction. 2) To get the lappy recharged.

History/Background:

Born in Nowhere USA, Etch lived a rather normal life. He and his friends messed around a lot up until college. Flunking out, he sought enlightenment of the world through travel, doing odd jobs here and there to earn money to move from country to country. The various misadventures he's had has left him with all sorts of weird and probably useless knowledge. It was during his travel through the Midwest US that he encountered a small little town. It was nice, what with the friendly folks there. You could even say it was paradise for some. It was also where he got a decent job. It was a nice little place, so he thought he'd settle down for once, even getting a job at a small video game company. On his way to get his first paycheck, he was met with angry parents who were opposed to violent games, claiming that it made kids violent. The details after that are pretty fuzzy. All he knows is that one thing leads to another, and Etch left the city before things got too crazy, grabbing a laptop computer (he nicknamed it the Lappy) and a long coat full of various things. It was then that he resumed his knowledge seeking journey...

One particular trip through a Japanese town would prove to be quite the experience. After being chased by the yakuza for something he might or might not have done, he fell into a river and blacked out. The next thing he knew, he was being nursed back to health by a certain Kawashiro Nitori. Apparently, he was pulled out of the water after falling in or something. He had fallen into Gensokyo the way he left the little town in Midwest USA, only wetter and with a dead battery for Lappy. More of the details seem to get fuzzy afterwards. Not long afterwards he met Inubashiri Momiji. During a trip to the human village, he got lost and encountered the Hieda household, where he met and was befriended by Akyuu. During a trip to Myourenji in search of a job, he met Ichirin Kumoi and Unzan. The cloud seemed to take a liking to him, and Ichirin and Etch became familiar with each other, if only in passing.

Theme: Catgroove (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P5fkw10OkE)  By Parov Stelar

Fun Facts: Nowadays he keeps a sketchbook with him. He's also good on his feet, probably from running from various, dangerous things during his journey.

Additional Information/Background/History: (added later)

Relationships:

Hieda no Akyu- Dear friend(?)

Kawashiro Nitori- Dear friend

Inubashiri Momiji- Dear friend

Ichirin- Knows a little bit about her

There's no need to feel ashamed of dropping; this is a pretty damn huge thing as it is, and probably more of a commitment than it's worth for a lot of people. (And more selfishly, it means less work for the GMs in managing it!)

That said... hmm. I'm not sure how to deal with Touhou-character claim conflicts just yet, though looking at it there are a few that will need to be smoothed out sooner or later.

I've PM'd Gappy with a few questions I have in mind, but for now, I'm going to give the tentative suggestion of having your OC meet with the Touhou characters you intend to claim on a fairly regular basis; this may or may not end up being important. For now it may be best to avoid... intimate relationships (with possible exceptions for established pairs from the first game - Gpop is considering returning and has reason to call dibs on Koishi for that), especially so that people with conflicting claims don't get into any spats on the matter. :V
NOTE: This is not a requirement as far as I can tell, so don't panic if your profile doesn't use this, can't be easily modified to include it, or if you just don't want to set things up that way - I'm mostly being a stickler for plot consistency and plausibility, and I think there are ways around it. There's a chance this may change based on Gap's word, but for the most part this is more something to consider than necessarily add.

Furthermore, skimming some of the profiles here so far, I have one concrete issue and one tentative one to address:

Rabbit, I'm pretty sure that all the players are supposed to start out in Gensokyo, so adding to the end of Daigo's backstory to reflect that is likely required. Otherwise, no real issues. (Arguable contrivance about the setup, but tolerable.)

Etch, given the nature of the reboot, I think you're currently (as of midnight Tues 12-13) using too much from the previous 'season' in your backstory; I'll have to double-check with Gap but I think you may have to turn things back further or at least redact immediate memory of the causes for a few things. (Also, consensus is that a solution/cure for the genderswap and age shenanigans was/were found offscreen between the old game and this, so continuing the genderswap is entirely optional.) Don't forget what Gap said in the OP about the reboot setup -

Quote
I'm a returning player. Is this a reboot/fresh start?

No, this is a continuation, a sequel if you will, of season 1. However, in a way, it is also a fresh start. You will again, for some reason you don't quite know, start in Gensokyo, having lived there for a good 2-4 years now, happily living amongst the other denizens of this fantastic mythical world. You're not quite sure what you were doing before you arrived in Gensokyo, knowing only that you're from the outside world.

(granted I'm still asking about the full extent of that "knowing only that you're from the outside world" part but you get the point)

Also, this is her 4th body since she tend to get herself wounded a lot, her superiors prepared numberless clone bodies for her. The same system is applied to all GA-Members after her.
Additional Information/Background/History:
FARGO, thanks to the paradox that NOD had created, successfully invaded Gensokyo and captured a few of the residents including Cirno and Keine for their plan to corrupt every time and place with ?Unseen-Power?. Two Chrono Agents was assigned to solve that matter and they had brought Amarillo with them ? Not together, but 2 month after they had make their come-in.
Unlucky for her, she had landed right in the middle of a battlefield, and was rescued by Koakoma, who is sending a disk containing her master?s memory data to the Shrine to be resurrected using the technologies of ?Norman Hospital? (A organization from another time line which do research on cloning). That?s when her ability started to manifest that allow her to commute with fairies of Gensokyo and fight with them.
Under the help of several fairies she had greatly weakened the enemy?s defense, allowing the incident to be solved with a landslide victory.
After the battle, she was giving a chance by Satori, the master of the Subterrain Palace, to face her original self ? ?YELLOW? from another time-space but sealed in her memory. YELLOW admits that she had locked 50% of Amarillo?s power in order to ?Prevent another tragedy?. Amarillo somehow proves that she don't need a limiter anymore, and unlocked her powers by erasing her original self, by doing that all her connections with YELLOW has been broken. Which indicates that she is officially a Chrono Agent Member.
However, now the border is collapsed and she must find a new way of living and eventually revive Gensokyo ? ALIVE.

It is off-topic, and I suggest you PM the first WufTD players about it.

I hope everyone from here on out will only make posts to this topic that are relevant to its purpose and progress (at this moment: participants' character profiles) to avoid cluttering the thread. Thanks in advance for cooperation.  ;)

Based on a PM with a later timestamp than his post here, I think Tapsa (AKA 34, right?) has actually changed his mind and decided to pass as well. And mean as it sounds, 8lue's dropping does resolve the two-Nazrin-first-choice conflict I noticed.

Claim conflicts are trimming down a bit, which is good, but we'll have to see how it goes in the end.

also I should probably get to work on actually making a profile

Ok, I've asked E-Nazrin about the current situation so I'm here to show my interest in this, based on the response I received.

Player Name: Kanjou.
Returning Player: No.

Planned Character name: Tsunade Gakudan.
Planned Character gender: Female.
Partner Character Wish List:
1st Choice: Yuugi.
2nd Choice: Yamame.
3rd Choice: Yumemi (unlocked as the story un-folds [explanation in profile.])

I've got most of the profile written out, with some bits I need to tweak here and there. I've got a picture of her main attire/appearance so that's handy too. I'll post that & profile up if I'm allowed in.

I think that should do it then. Thanks again E-Nazrin.

Name: Cuan Fitzpatrick
Gender: Male
Age:  26
Origin:  Ireland
Home:  A small cabin just outside the Forest of Magic
Occupation :  Hunter
Visual Description:  Short, but lean and well-muscled, Cuan is obviously the kind of person that enjoys getting a lot of exercise. A scar runs down his face, from above his right eye down to the left side of his chin. Another scar from the same incident, actually a continuation of the first, runs from right by his neck down to the edge of his left thigh. Of course, most people never see this scar. There are also a number of somewhat smaller scars across his body, but most are barely visible underneath his tattoos.

?   Hair colour: Red
?   Hairstyle: Short in back and on the left side, long bangs cover his right eye most of the time
?   Eye colour: Green
?   Clothing: Grass green shirt, brown pants, very dark green duster. Wears a leather wristband on his right hand that bears a representation of the Irish flag, made of the fur of a red fox. The green had to be dyed, of course.
?  Tattoos and Jewelry: Tattoos cover his entire body from the base of the neck down, showing fierce looking dog-like creatures, with the kind of detail that makes them almost seem real.

His left ear is pierced, and a gold loop with countless tiny images of shamrocks engraved in it hangs there.

Personality: Cuan is, really, quite abrasive. He's arrogant, even rather reckless, and often seems to be itching for a fight. He is extremely proud of his Irish heritage, to the degree that he seems rather pretentious about it, as if it automatically makes him better than everyone else and so he should get what he wants.

?   Likes: Being the center of attention, fistfights, archery, hunting, meat, drinking, feeling superior to everyone around him, flirting
?   Dislikes: Being outshined in anything physical, being ordered around, taking time to think, any implication that he's not the toughest person around

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: Become strong enough to beat Yuka in a fistfight
History/Background: Cuan was raised in a rural town in Ireland near a large forest, by a kleptomaniac mother and a poacher father. From an early age, he was taught the tricks of the trade by his father, though he would never get any major field experience until he was in his teens. Despite his parents' disrespect for the law, which he inherited from them as well, they did instill in him a great pride in his heritage, and his mother often told him many Irish legends.

In school, Cuan got average at best grades in most subjects, finding little interest in them and putting out little effort, but shined whenever Irish history or mythology came up. He also excelled in gym class, as he very much liked all the physical activity.

The first thing Cuan remembers of his arrival in Gensokyo is wandering through a large forest, which he now knows to be the Forest of Magic. While he wandered, lost, he came across a youkai, which he somehow thought would be a good idea to try and kill. Nearly all of his scars, including the largest one, are from that incident. He claims to those who he speaks of this to that he killed that youkai, but the truth is, he nearly died. He fell unconscious due to blood loss during the conflict, and he still has no idea how he survived. His memories of shortly after that incident are hazy as well, even if he does remember something of it, he won't say.

Since then, however, he has managed to become something of an accomplished hunter. He knows better than to attack Youkai now, but he often traps or even shoots more normal animals, selling many of the skins to those who will buy, and eating the meat for himself. If he ever sees something humanoid in one of his traps... He simply leaves it there, so as not to have to deal with an angry youkai.

Fun facts: Though he can drink a great deal of alcohol without passing out, Cuan quickly becomes even more shameless than he already is after only a few sips. He's flirtatious to begin with, but he's likely to proposition random people when drunk.

Name: Hugh
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Origin: Mid-West United States
Home: Myouren Temple Crop Fields
Occupation: Former student, currently farmer
Hair Color: Brownish-red
Hair Style: Cropped short, with short beard.
Eye Color: Blue.
Clothing: Wears rugged and worn brown pants, a dingy grey sleeveless shirt that used to be white, mudstained black leather boots, a blue denim jacket, and a faded blue Atlanta Braves baseball cap. Usually has a pair of black leather work gloves in his jacket pocket.

Personality: Hugh is usually quiet and watchful, but always ready to jump into a conversation with a possibly witty, usually mildly insulting, observation. He is usually slow to act, but quick to criticize, preferring to wait for information to make itself known before going on a course of action. That is not to say that he never acts or refuses to risk himself; he is willing to take risks, so long as he's sure the gains and consequences are worth it. It's also difficult to make friends with him: he doesn't isolate himself, but he always keeps people at arms length away. It's very easy to tell when he considers someone a friend, however: usually they're the ones he picks on the most.

Likes: Gardening, puzzles, teasing people.
Dislikes: Ignorance, egotistical people, people who abuse authority, coconut.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: When he first arrived in Gensokyo, he tried to get back to the real world immediately, but, after nearly being eaten, he decided to lay low for a bit. After three years of living in Gensokyo, he's grown to appreciate the environment, but would like to establish a more ready means of transportation between Gensokyo and the real world.

History/Background: Hugh is tight lipped on what he did before he arrived in Gensokyo, or even how he arrived in the place. The most anyone's been able to get out of him is that he's from America, attended college sporadically, and worked occassionally. When he did arrive in Gensokyo, though, the first thing he did was try to find a way out: it didn't end very well for him, and he had to be rescued by various personages from the Human Village and Myouren Temple. Since then he's worked as a laborer on the fields that the Temple overlooks, and helps with various other projects. His organizational skills and analytical mind has been a boon for the Temple.

Theme: Security Off (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybMdzQQO0YI)

Fun Facts/Other:
1. Tends to call people by their last names, if he's not familiar with them.
2. Can be a bit surly about people taller than him, even though his height of 5'8" isn't even short. Ironically (or, more accurately, hypocritically) enough, he tends to treat people smaller than him as though they were younger than him, sometimes seeming condenscending.
3. Despite his quiet and somewhat rude demeanor, he's surprisingly helpful, always providing assistance and advice whether it was asked for or not, and with varying amounts of teasing. Probably due to his dislike of ignorance.
4. Likes children, and will roughhouse with or mentor them. Probably ties into fact number one.
5. Capable hand to hand fighter, who uses his 180 lbs size against opponents. Sadly, not as useful against youkai, who would just blast him, stab him, or bite him. He can easily hold his own against most adequetely trained humans, though.
6. Absolute shit at magic.
7. Surprisingly capable at sewing and stitching. Useful for mending clothes.

Origin: Northern Japan
Home: A small house in the Human Village
Occupation : Before ending up in Gensokyo, she was just an average teenage student.
Within Gensokyo, since she needs to make a living herself, she often plays her violin in the human village for money.
Visual Description: She's relatively short for her age, standing at a little less than 5 feet (1.6 meters). Her hair is a soft and light shade of blue, arranged into two short ponytails that sit beside her head. She keeps it as clean and tidy as possible, though it sometimes tends to be rebellious and refuses to stay where it should. She also sports a light pink ribbon on top and slightly to the right of her head. Her face is young and innocent, with two soft, also light blue eyes.
Her clothing consists simply of a sky blue skirt that reaches down to about her knees. The skirt also has short sleeves for during the summer and so they don't get in the way of her violin-playing. It has a pattern of white dots and a wavy white line on the bottom to give the impression that it's snowing right on her clothes. She enjoys the cold much more than warmth so, when it does get cold out in the winter, she has only a thin (also light blue) jacket to keep from catching a cold, though it usually happens anyways. Her sandals change monthly, and one can notice she cycles through a rainbow of them throughout the year.

Personality: Yuki can be described with several adjectives: hyper, cute, fun-loving, caring, compassionate, and smart. She loves to run around whenever she can, around the village, in the forest. With friends, she can find plenty of ways to have fun, no matter what the situation is. She also likes to be thought of as cute, evidenced by the fact she loves to be called Yuki-chan. She loves to make friends with anyone that's willing to play with her as well. She also cares deeply for her friends and will do whatever she can to help them out. However, this can sometimes lead to her going too far into people's personal problems.
Yuki is smart, but not smart. She is quite skilled at the violin and can pick up new pieces relatively quickly. Also, when presented a situation, she likes to think of creative ways to solve it. But many times she can behave younger than her age (which may or may not be annoying, depending on who you are). She can also be distracted by little things, say, by a butterfly in the air, unless she is involved in something that truly requires her full attention.
Because of her past, she can be depressed for a short time (see background). Same goes for when she's left alone for long periods of time. Fortunately, she recovers quickly with friends that encourage her.
?   Likes: anything cute, colorful, or pretty, music, friendly people, snow, sweets
?   Dislikes: insults, being alone, bees

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: *Get as good as possible at the violin
*Return to her family in the real world
*Make even more friends!

History/Background: Before arriving in Gensokyo, Yuki led a fairly normal life. She has one younger sister with whom she had a healthy relationship with. Both her parents were also very caring. She actually had very few problems with her family.
She always dreaded going to school because she had very few friends there, none who were as close to her as she was to her little sister. Her erratic personality, though it works in anime and in Gensokyo, is what repelled others away from her. She could never sit still and was always looking into others' personal lives. Upon entering high school, the situation worsened as harmful false rumor spread about her. As a result, she was often alone and isolated in school, which led to her fear of being alone now.
Two things kept her from being completely depressed with her life: a love for music and her little sister. She was introduced to music at a young age, and it completely fasenated her. Despite her behavior, she is able to keep full attention to music. At first, she began with piano, but when she was introduced to the violin, she became completely absorbed in it. This skill applies well in Gensokyo, because it's how she supports herself in the foreign land.
Her little sister, Amaya, is one of the few people in Yuki's life she feels she can get along with. The two are always seen playing, goofing off, encouraging each other. They aren't twins, but it sometimes feels like they are. Ayama loves music as well and can play the piano. They often have cute duets with each other.
Her first moments in Gensokyo were alarming and frightening for her. She was on a school trip one day; the bus was driving near a forest. A tire in the middle of the road caused the bus to veer off of the road and into the forest. Yuki lost conciousness in the mess. When she came to, she found herself alone in the forest. The bus, her classmates, and her injuries were all gone. For hours she wandered, trying to find her way out, but it seemed to stretch on endlessly. Finally, she was at the point of giving up when she heard the beautiful sound of a violin in the distance. Filled with hope, she ran towards it, hoping to find someone that knew the way back to the bus.
Instead, she found that the violin belonged to a youkai with the name Lunasa Prismriver. Yuki was frightened by her at first, since she was floating at the time and the violin was playing itself, but she found that Lunasa was more like a normal person than a ghost. They quickly became friends and Lunasa led Yuki to where the human village was. Lunasa gave her some money for a house ("Just don't be like Lyrica and never pay it back") and Yuki moved in comfortably. The house was already pre-furnished with the basic necessities.
The next day, Lunasa visted with a gift: one of her old violins. After being assured it wasn't haunted, Yuki accepted it with an idea. Now five months later, she uses it to play in the middle of the human village for entertainment and so she can support herself. Lunasa also visits frequently with a new song in hand for her to play. Yuki's smart enough that she can sight-read with relative ease.
She hopes to discover what really happened that day the she arrived in Gensokyo. She also misses her family dearly, especially her little sister, and wishes to return to them someday.

Theme:  (If I ever find one)

Fun Facts: *Yuki means "snow" in Japanese. Ayama means "night rain."
*If it hasn't become obvious by now, her favorite season is winter because that's when it snows. Of course, this is reflected in her appearance as well.
*She commonly refers to herself in third person to act cute.
*(and maybe more to come)

OK! After all that time, here you go. I hope this is to your liking.

Name: Tsunade Gakudan
Gender: Female.
Age:  19
Origin:  Unknown (From the UK)
Home:  Ancient City; Former Hell
Occupation :  Barmaid/Singer
 Visual Description:
?   Hair colour: Blonde.
?   Hairstyle: Long.
?   Eye colour: Green.
?   Clothing: Green Kimono.
Other Attires: Black/White School Girl Outfit http://i53.tinypic.com/30mmkjo.png (http://i53.tinypic.com/30mmkjo.png) [Yay for Create once more.]
Baggy trousers and a few ?Persona? and ?Homestuck? shirts; dark brown/black coats included.

Personality: Sometimes quiet, sometimes loud; always bubbly. Whilst she may come off as being a bit of an airhead, she?s smarter than she seems. She?s able to remember quite the list of things and knows what she?s doing... well, most of the time. With the people she knows, she can be friendly and respectful; though that vanishes with just the mention of sake. To those she doesn?t know, she talks slightly less than usual. She isn?t good with new people after previous incidents; especially when they start making bad acquisitions before they even get to know her.
?   Likes: Sake, Music (singing especially), Parties, Watching Fights.
?   Dislikes: Awkward Silence, Messy Rooms, Smoking (especially indoors), ?Acquaintances.?

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: Originally, it was to become a well known singer in the outside world. Now, having considered her new location home, she just wants to take it easy and enjoy the  life she?s currently living. However, she does want to find out the identity of a mysterious girl that keeps running into her from time to time.

History/Background: Known by the friends she has as Tsunade, she has had a fairly weird life. She isn?t sure where exactly she was born, only that she has never been outside of the UK and has been to almost every place there. Having brief stints living in England, Wales, Scotland and even Ireland, she has never been able to befriend people long enough to know them well. Eventually, her parents finally settled near the border of Northen Ireland and Ireland; much to the bewilderment of Tsunade. Having finally had time to settle down and link up with people she had met briefly before, she finally started to have some fun with her life. She made a habit of going back to England however for convention purposes. She has a knack for singing and loves learning about the Japanese Culture. After getting lost in England during a night that had seen her fall out with a couple of her friends, she exited through a tunnel of sorts and found herself in a place that certainly didn?t match her previous location. No sooner had she walked around, a group of youkai notice her and give chase. She flees back into the ?tunnel? and notices the youkai don?t follow her in. As she looks back in relief, however, she trips over a bucket and plummets even deeper into the cave; along with said bucket. After waking up, she finds herself in the arms of an unknown lady; and in quite some pain too. The lady, who has a singular horn on her head and is also carrying the bucket she tripped over, tells her to rest and she does so.

Upon waking up again, the lady talks to her properly; addressing herself as Yuugi, an oni. The bucket had a girl inside, whose name is revealed to be Kisume. Tsunade explains what happened leading up to her being here, after which Yuugi tells her she is now in Gensokyo. Kisume apologises for ?laying around? and, having nowhere else to go, stays with Yuugi for a few days. Yuugi overhears her singing at one point and asks if she has any intention of finding work. Before that, she wants a place to live and, to her surprise, Yuugi points out a recently vacant building across from her. Before long, she has settled into her new home, but not without some issues. Finding work was hard enough; being human and all. But she now works in one of the countless bars, though at first isn?t used to the amount of oni and the noise they make; both there and around her house. Whilst doing bar work, she meets with Yuugi from time to time; normally once a fortnight, even a month at times when Yuugi is really busy... or simply just not there. Her alcohol tolerance, as big as it was before, is even greater; though she still feels nervous drinking with any of the oni round her based on how much they drink in the first place. Kisume has even spoken to her on a few occasions; even if it?s only because she was responsible for her being inside Former Hell. She has heard of Yamame, who is supposed to be close to her, but has never seen her.

Now, Tsunade is well known for her singing; never stopping to practice when possible. She is known at work for it now; going as far as to use it to bring more people in, along with getting free drinks here and there. She also reads outside of everything else, after finding a variety of books ranging from novels to intellectual readings. One name that stands out on a few of these are Okazaki, a person Tsunade wouldn?t mind meeting, despite knowing nothing about them. One thing that is still catching her out though is someone running in to her from time to time. Oddly enough, she?s convinced that it?s the same person each time; though she is unable to make her out clearly enough to identify her to others. Despite that, and even though it has been so long since she has seen the surface, Tsunade is quite happy calling this place known as the Ancient City ?home.?

Theme: 1st Theme:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQqQb40-dTE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQqQb40-dTE)
Think of it like... A stage theme. She's not so good in a fight; in fact, she tends to watch them more than take part in them. She wishes she could be just as strong, but until then, she keeps away from troublesome situations. This theme reflects that.
2nd Theme: A Secret! There will be a 2nd theme for when she is able to hold her own in a fight; but that's for another time.

Fun Facts (optional): Because of her parents constantly moving around the UK, Tsunade has seen and learnt a variety of things. Along with this, she remembers key things about each place. This has come to her favour at random times, but shouldn?t be counted on.
Despite working around groups of oni almost everyday, Tsunade isn?t that strong. She can?t sustain a quick run for long either. She has made it an aim to become more durable, but worries that asking an oni for training might kill her.
As mentioned earlier, Tsunade is not good with talking one-on-one with complete strangers; despite working at such a crowded and lively place. She has been known to shun people completely and even act hostile to those who try asking about her life. It probably doesn?t help that her closest friends aren?t near her anymore; to the point where she can be afraid of the same situation happening if she ends up leaving her new home.

Since I can't guarantee the dedication this will probably need, upon further inspection, I will withdraw. Sorry for the inconveniences ^^

Due to several major factors/rules that I do not agree with, I am possibly dropping out. I will wait to hear more discussion and finalization of additional system(s).

I signed up for an RP, not a giant ball of stress.

I'm sorry, Gappy, Mouse, Nemo. I can't stand watching what's happening right now. I signed up almost on a whim anyway, and... This is not worth it. Even if it's dealt with enough to start up as an actual RP, I don't have faith for it to work out well at this rate.

I'm out.

As it stands I, too, have a rather large chance of withdrawing.

I'm going to see how things turn out in the end. I'll most likely have to draft a new character. :fail:

Guys, I don't want to see this RP dead before it's actually revived, this is ridiculous.
The thing here is people is complaining about limitations and too much limitations. We are currently talking it over and see if we can do something about it.
Personally I don't mind some ESPers floating around in our team......

ALRIGHT YOU PRIMITIVE SCREWHEADS LISTEN UP

Okay, for people that haven't been following the #wuftd chat obsessively, basically there's recently been a spat about a offhand comment from Gappy about regular players not being allowed to learn/use magic, and the trouble that causes with people that have already set up profiles that already use that and/or uh, come from the first 'season' when this is was allowed anyway.

Before anyone else gets upset, this has been redacted for all intents and purposes. Player characters ARE allowed to have magic, though the exact extent hasn't been gone over thoroughly - personally, I'm inclined to at least allow things comparable to the more reasonable characters from Season 1, for fear of painful hypocrisy. (And we certainly owe an apology for not making the idea clear from the start - or thinking the matter through, or even talking about it much.) Fighting with system numbers (whatever we end up using) will probably remain ongoing for some time, but magical abilities/potential will be permitted, if limited.

The real problem - as I see it - is the issue behind why MTG wanted to put that in effect in the first place: The intent of the game and the mana link/partner system to encourage or require interdependence between the 'leader' and members of each team, with the default concept being that the mundane outside-world humans need help protecting themselves from... the various threats that come about, and the Touhous that they provide mana for need to protect their 'master' in order to stay alive.
I think the perception was that having player-characters with magic and/or exceptional ability to defend themselves on their own undermines this format, giving the player-character much more opportunity to be the only one of the group of any relevance and reduce their Touhou partners to window dressing or harem material, rather than useful, competent allies or real characters in their own right.

But as implied there, magic is not the only way to go about this (if I recall right, our main problem figures the last time around didn't heavily rely on it, perhaps as an easy way to get under the radar): Any substantially powerful 'master' character on their own has the opportunity to do this, if they're unscrupulous abut it.

So I'm inclined to handle this less by restricting character creation itself than by having those restrictions imposed once the link system becomes relevant to the game's restart. That event will, conveniently, include ways to arrange for significant power nerfs that should get groups down to roughly the same level.

Yes, this shows very little trust in the players. Sorry, but after some of our problems the first time around, that's the default stance, if only for the time being.

As far as I'm concerned: If your character is significantly more powerful than an average human right now, that's okay. But be prepared to arrange for being knocked back down to more 'normal' levels of competence and magical ability once we start providing for Touhou characters through mana links. If you can't come up with a way to reasonably explain that drop with the characters you get, we will.

---

Less time to investigate but worth talking about: There are some character conflicts even with the... recent drops, and it'd be worth discussing the details of that and plans for what each of them had in mind to try and work it out without getting into a brawl or resorting to first-come-first-serve.

fuck now I need to get to bed I work in the morning

Took a bit to stitch this one together, and I needed a bit of advising to get ideas, but let's see how this turns out!

Name: Roark
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Origin: United States
Home: Palace of the Earth Spirits
Occupation: Former student, errand boy
Visual Description:
    ?   Hair colour: Brown
?   Hairstyle: Short, parts on the right side
    ?   Eye colour: Dark brown
?   Clothing: Normally jeans and a solid-color shirt, with grey tennis shoes; he has more professional clothing for more formal situations. He also wears glasses at all times, as he requires them to correct his nearsightedness.

Personality: Roark is overall quite shy, and generally does not speak to strangers unless spoken to, or if he needs something from them. However, he is quite friendly to those he has met before, and will often listen to his friends' problems and offer what advice he can give. It is very difficult to get him angry; however, one who makes him angry would do well to make amends, as Roark has been known to hold grudges for a long time. This is oddly contradictory to his dislike of hate, however.
?   Likes: Seafood, quiet places, being hugged, helping people
?   Dislikes: Bitter things, constant loud noise, hate

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: All Roark really wants in life is to see the people close to him happy. He aspired to become a programmer when he was younger, but could not muster the required knowledge.

History/Background: Roark's past is relatively dull. He was the eldest of four children, born to a lower-middle-class family. Because of his slight socialization issues, he had few close friends and generally kept to himself, working on his programming aspirations through study of the Java and C++ languages. He was fairly recognized throughout his hometown of Bellevue, however, as his parents would often send him to run errands for them, which usually entailed borrowing from or returning items to neighbors or buying groceries from the local market.

One such errand took him to a dank and dark cave, where he was to look for a neighbor's lost wedding ring -- the man had lost it while spelunking in the cave and could not find it again. When Roark went inside to look for it, he ended up getting lost in one of the twisting passages and could not find his way back. Trying not to panic, and with his energy spent, he decided to sleep on it and find his way back in the morning.

When Roark woke, the cave looked...different, somehow. He resumed his search for the exit and, to his surprise, came across an underground bridge and the city beyond it. The city's *ahem* lively activity was a bit much for him, however, and he quickly passed through it only to come across a majestic palace. Figuring he could ask the residents for directions, he knocked on the door and was greeted by a pink-haired woman, who explained to him that he had found his way to the Palace of the Earth Spirits in Gensokyo's Former Hell, which didn't sound at all like any place Roark had heard of before.

The palace was unlike any building Roark had seen before, with its long hallways and ornate furnishings. The woman, who introduced herself as Satori Komeiji, allowed Roark to stay at the palace, as he did not have a home in Gensokyo to return to. Staying at the palace was...interesting, to say the least; Roark quickly found that Satori would sometimes finish his sentences for him, as if she was reading his mind. There were also a cat and raven, nicknamed Orin and Okuu respectively, living with the woman, and they could take on (mostly) human appearances; seeing these transformations was shocking at first, but as time passed, Roark became accustomed to the residents' oddities and accepted that he was, so to speak, not in Kansas anymore.

Roark offered Satori his services as an errand boy to earn his keep, much as he had back home. While he was still getting used to Gensokyo's oddities, such as Satori's mind-reading and youkai in general, he rather enjoyed this new world. Some of his errands took him outside the cave and into Gensokyo proper, allowing him to see more of the strange land he'd ended up in. This is not to say that activities in Chireiden were uninteresting: one day, the geyser that Okuu used to vent her nuclear power had been plugged, and Satori sent Orin out to investigate. The kassha later returned slightly bruised, but had solved the issue; a celestial named Tenshi Hinanai had decided to stir up trouble to cure her boredom. The next day, Roark answered the door to find that Tenshi and her guardian, Iku Nagae, had come to visit; apparently it was common practice in Gensokyo to have tea with the winners in disputes. Tenshi spent much of her time during that visit teasing Roark for having no powers, much to his chagrin, though Iku assured him that she was only doing so because she found him interesting for being a rare powerless human living among youkai with much power.

Fun Facts:
?   Roark's nearsightedness causes him to be quite clumsy when he's not wearing his glasses; he is prone to tripping over furniture if someone has decided to hide his glasses as a prank.
?   Due to his lack of powers, many of his errands take him to the human village to minimize his risk of running into hostile youkai. Normally, these errands entail buying medicine or food that cannot be made in Chireiden.

Picture: /\/\/\/\  (http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa416/sanakoi/himi.png) \/\/\/\/ (http://filesmelt.com/dl/hirenko2.png)
Name: Himiko
Gender: Female
Age:  16
Origin:  Definitely not Japan.
Home:  Youkai Mountain (lives with Kasen)
Occupation :  Formerly a high school student, currently a freeloader.
 Visual Description:
?   Hair colour: Very dark brown
?   Hairstyle: Longish and straight with bangs, parted down the middle.  Her eyebrows are on the thick side.  No hair accessories to speak of.
?   Eye colour: Dark brown.  Her left eye has turned to a rather suspicious shade of green.
?   Clothing: Dark blue jeans, brown sneakers, a grey-green t-shirt.  Overtop of this she wears a hooded white winter vest with fake brown fur lining the hood.  Her outfits vary, but they generally include some sort of article of clothing worn in the winter, such as a scarf, coat, or hat.  She has both pants and skirts in her possession, but doesn?t really show a preference towards either.

Personality: Himiko is rather shy, clamming up around strangers and people she doesn?t like.  Rather predictably, however, she is more open and talkative around friends.  It is then that one can see that she is imaginative and sensitive?to a fault.  Even then, Himiko tries to come off as more calm and collected.  In reality, she is just keeping careful guard around herself.

Another thing about her is that she would rather not say anything at all than lie, instead avoiding telling the truth all together if necessary.  Thus she is rarely involved in conflict, preferring to watch everything play out and keep to herself as usual.
?   Likes: Drawing, sleeping, computers, video games, and stuffed toys.
?   Dislikes: Spiders, thunderstorms, needles, confrontations, and large crowds.

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions:

~ Learn how to fly, imperative.

History/Background:
Himiko has lived a normal existence.  Her school life?her entire childhood, really?could be summed up as ?trial and error?, making mistakes in elementary school that mucked up relationships and led to her being picked on throughout middle school.  Thus Himiko continued to spend her life normally, keeping to herself.  When she entered high school, however, she started sleeping more frequently and deeply.  Her waking hours were spent recording her dreams almost religiously.  She fell behind in her schoolwork, and it wasn?t long before she fell ill.

After being discharged from the hospital, Himiko was sent off to stay at her friend?s house for a few nights.  While walking there, she took a wrong turn and found herself in a completely different world: Gensokyo.  She had somehow ended up in a mountain range after taking a shortcut through the local park.  Confused out of her mind, Himiko wandered around lost for a few days before being found and taken home by Ibara Kasen, a hermit living in the area.  Himiko had nowhere to go and no way of returning home, so she ended up staying with Kasen.

After about a month of living in Gensokyo, one of Himiko?s brown eyes turned green.  Kasen wasn?t sure of why this was so, but Himiko eventually shrugged it off as something in the air.  Still, she too was worried, and started to wander away from her new home in search of magician or someone who could help her.  In the end, however, she wasn't able to find anything.

Theme:  (Optional)

Fun Facts (optional):
~ Has an extremely high potential for magic, but lacks the capabilities of tapping into it.
zzz
~ Low stamina and pain endurance, not good with hand to hand combat?or any sort of combat.  Unless she?s truly angry, she?s usually too scared to hurt anyone.
~ Her language is noticeably fouler when she?s talking to herself.

Picture: (N/A)
Name: Jeremy Nezu
Gender: Male
Age: Early 20s
Origin: Upstate New York, United States

Home: Yakumo Household
Occupation: Freeloader, ideamonkey, household help, plaything (but mostly freeloader)

Visual Description:
Jeremy is a pale-skinned Caucasian punk of about average height, with a slightly scrawny build and a blue-eyed baby face that makes him look much younger than he really is. He has short, straight, generally unkempt black hair, neglected due to indifference about his appearance. Likewise, his clothing puts comfort and convenience ahead of style: He greatly prefers loose and simple clothing like t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and slacks, usually of flat and typical color. The only real concession he makes in appearance for his clothing is the occasional use of wanna-be-witty images, captions, or sayings on otherwise plain shirts. A recent favorite has been a plain black t-shirt with the phrase "Normal is too boring." For reasons even he's not clear on, he also always wears a vaguely conical rock on a chain around his neck, hidden beneath his shirt. He has a rather irrational obsession with never letting it leave his side, though the origin of the urge is unclear...

Personality:
Jeremy is a cynical and somewhat irritable Touhou fanboy, with a habit of making wisecracks and challenging assumptions. Has a dry sense of humor, usually providing 'witty' one-line quips in response to the situation. Can be sweet-hearted if you get to know him well, but tends to be very slow to trust thanks to moderate paranoia. Loves his otaku references. Strongly believes more in the value of sentience and thought over race, species, or faction, to the point of possible na?vet?. Has a substantial anti-authoritarian streak and tends to be inherently wary of those in powerful or leadership positions; he also gets oddly upset over people acting submissive toward him, and may turn around to use that leverage to instead insist that he be treated normally. Typically tries to give people several chances and sincerely listen to people he disagrees with or dislikes, but can be vicious if his patience is completely lost. Extremely creative, which is his only real point of pride. Has a great appreciation for, and makes extensive use of, 'meta' concepts beyond the obvious layer of events. Romantically and sexually timid, yet surprisingly willing to face more physical fears and throw his life away for justice (http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/6650/throwyourlifeawayforjus.png) risk his life for the proper cause. Usually very practical, serious, and rational, but has a mischievous and mocking streak that surfaces from time to time - including decent tolerance for harmless mischief of others. Impatient, but very capable of wasting waiting time wandering in his own thoughts at the expense of his ability to pay attention. Has little respect for privacy and secrets, preferring open knowledge without a very good reason to keep things secret. Obsessive about and hard-working for his oft-changing current fancies, but lazy about just about everything else. Can be rather foul-mouthed, especially when angered. Is a long-time user of, and virtual citizen of, the internet, including a fairly long-standing interest in Touhou itself. Has fairly good self-restraint about following through on selfish or stupid whims. Somewhat self-deprecating and occasionally depressive. Easy to embarrass, especially by sexual issues.

Likes:
Knowledge, thought, reason, understanding, openness, strawberries, cute things, fluffy/fuzzy animals
especially Rantails
, equality/egalitarianism, honesty, meta, intriguing stories, scheming/planning, being creative, figuring things out, discovery, entertainment, cuddling (occasionally), Touhou,
his long-distance boyfriend in the outside world

Dislikes:
Manipulation, mindlessness, selfishness, spitefulness, deception, casual physical contact, having plans ruined or fail, conflict between friends, idle waiting, having to lie, authoritarian behavior, pride&the proud, being treated formally, small talk, drinking alcohol, doing stuff he doesn't want to, people messing with the rock-chain he wears,
himself (sometimes)

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions:
To enjoy himself, to avoid harming others, to amuse others, to live a simple life, to spread even unwanted truths through the world wherever he can, to break down the illusions of the manipulated - and to reveal Gensokyo to the outer world, so long as it would continue to exist.

History/Background:
In the outer world, Jeremy grew up as essentially your typical asocial geek: socially awkward and unpopular, preferring videogames and online interaction over more 'normal' activities. Aside from irregular depressive episodes and spending far too much time on MMORPGs, he did well for himself for the most part, with good grades and going to a decent college, ultimately settling on a major in psychology while pursuing his geeky hikkikomori ways whenever possible. In particular, he picked up an interest in the Touhou game series, a bunch of vertical-scrolling shumps based in the magical land of Gensokyo...

And that's where his memories get murky. He doesn't remember how he got in Gensokyo (though offhand evidence seems to suggest that Yukari gapped him in for one reason or another - what that would be, he's never gotten a good answer for), but he does remember eking out a meager existence in the human village for a while, preferring to go hungry rather than pawn off the aging laptop that came with him and being very timid about visiting or even speaking with the major figures he knew of from the Touhou series.

A chance meeting with Ran during one of her shopping trips to the village brought an end to that, after a rather bemused kidnapping by Yukari ultimately allowed him to freeload at the Yakumo household in exchange for entertaining the gap youkai. Even after several months of this, Jeremy's still in disbelief about having Yukari's attention like that, and suspects an ulterior motive - but despite politely asking about it once or twice, he's never gotten a satisfactory answer for why she keeps him around.

His best guess is that Yukari somehow sensed his less than benign desire to reveal Gensokyo to the outer world. How he'd manage to do that he isn't sure; perhaps via the internet. (He can't quite remember whether there was access in the human village, and doesn't plan to risk trying to visit to find out, but it would explain his refusal to surrender the laptop.) This would explain why Yukari would bring him over; to keep a close eye on him to make it impossible to get away with while also having him available to taunt and tease in the meantime, if only with the functional, high-speed connection available at the household. Jeremy's been careful never to accuse her of this, but he's getting less hopeful that there will be an opportunity to sneak evidence out within his lifetime.

But in the meantime, he's mostly trying to enjoy himself. He still lurks many of the same sites and chatrooms he was at before coming to Gensokyo, with the cover story of getting an excellent 'job offer' in Japan with a rather secretive group that treats him well enough that he's willing to respect that secrecy. (The part he doesn't say, since Yukari could obviously scan his message logs for anything undesirable: "For now.") He's also taken to playing along with, taking in stride, or even inspiring some of Yukari's mischievous shenanigans, and helping with Ran's housework when it suits him. A peaceful and pleasant, if relatively dull, existence, but lately he's been getting the nagging feeling that something's not quite right...

For the time being, Season 1 events and implications will be left alone.

Fun Facts:
"Nezu" is not Jeremy's original last name; he started using it in Gensokyo after being annoyed at people mispronouncing his real last name. What that name is, he doesn't tend to tell people.

A side effect of Jeremy's runaway attempts at creativity and cleverness is a tendency to come up with odd nicknames for people, often arising from once-removed word association or focus on a particular trait of theirs. These names aren't always very nice, so he tries not to use them publicly. Usually.

Jeremy's knowledge of the Touhou series and surrounding internet treatment gives him rather extensive knowledge of most major figures in Gensokyo, though the numerous conflicting fanmade personalities result in a lot of uncertainty and possible misconceptions about them on his part. That, and a lot of people get creeped out by him knowing so much without having ever met...

Jeremy has little skill in combat or magic, having only taken a year or two of sub-black-belt karate and receiving no formal training with the magic of Gensokyo. Despite this, he recalls figuring out two minor spells on his own - a very limited ability to conjure up food for himself, and turning a blade of grass into a very sloppy decoy of himself that would probably only fool a fairy. He hasn't bothered trying to use them in ages, and he doesn't remember how he picked them up, but he's pretty sure he's done it before...

Additional Information/Background/History:

Relationships:

Yukari:
Yukari generally treats Jeremy as a plaything, source of amusement, and occasionally mischief advisor. When she isn't sleeping the day away, Yukari sometimes drop in on Jeremy while he's at the computer or however else he's occupied and interrupts. At its most benign this tends to turn into asking what he's up to, prying to embarrass him, and exchanging quips with him about stupid internet memes or whatever mischief Yukari's been making recently; other times it's closer to Jeremy grumbling in annoyance as he dances for Yukari's amusement (sometimes literally, but more often by stoically playing along with or putting up with some sort of elaborate prank, ranging from random lake-dunking to brasserie blindfolds to exceptionally elaborate Portal references). On occasion, he'll provide some sort of mischievous prank for Yukari to play around with, or suggest expansions for an existing one (such as hanging undergarments from each of the Scarlet Devil Mansion's residents from the mansion's spires, rather than just one of them).

While this pranking and teasing is generally good-natured and the two get along fairly well, Jeremy's patience is limited, and on a few occasions he's actually worked up the courage (or anger) to actually ask her not to go to certain extremes, particularly in the realm of molestation and other direct sexuality. Amazingly, she actually listens most of the time - something Jeremy finds very strange considering Yukari's personality, but isn't about to question. Odder still is the more recent trend of him successfully managing to gently persuade Yukari to tone down two or three particularly mean pranks, something that surprised everyone in the household...

Ran:
Jeremy is mostly timid around Ran: between repressing unsafe fanboy urges, guilt over relying on her housework with so little given in return, and fear of retaliation for becoming integrated into the Yakumo 'household' without Ran's express approval, he's decided the safest course of action is to tread carefully. He prefers to stay out of Ran's way as much as possible, treating her politely and nervously avoiding confrontation or even proximity with her when feasible. So far, Yukari hasn't abused this fear TOO much.

On occasion, Jeremy will pull himself away from random internet idiocy long enough to quietly handle simple household chores when Ran is otherwise occupied, as a silent and rather feeble apology for his freeloading. And one time, he DID happen to encounter Ran as she was brushing her tails... she accepted a hasty offer to help with the task, leading Jeremy into the rather stressful situation of blissfully fulfilling one of his shallow fanboy dreams while forcing him to desperately resist the temptation to grab an armful of tails, bury his cheeks in it, and end up with his trachea forcefully confiscated. He did manage to make it through without really embarrassing himself, but even with that friendly encounter, Ran remains silent about her own opinions...

Chen:
Jeremy and Chen see each other often enough during her visits the Yakumo home between wanderings through Gensokyo, but the two rarely speak with each other. Since Ran is somewhat protective of Chen, Jeremy has tried to avoid getting involved with the nekomata to avoid her master's wrath... but instead, Chen's shown some curiosity about him. Jeremy's managed to avoid having to answer her for the most part with Ran or Yukari around to annoy him, but she did manage to corner him for a brief interview once while the 'greater' Yakumos were occupied. (With what, Jeremy is reluctant to guess at.)

Jeremy was rather nervous during that main talk with Chen, but it was a friendly exchange: Chen proved to be completely adorable, and Jeremy couldn't resist the temptation to suggest some cute antics for her to try to please Ran-shama. Whether she made use of them, he isn't sure - and hopes that Ran won't attack him for interfering.

Others:
Jeremy does not like to travel (even by gap) and would rather not risk visiting the major players of Gensokyo that he knows of, but as Yukari's plaything any particularly strong whims of hers take precedence. So far she seems to be content with mostly annoying him at home, but she's brought him along to a few other places for her amusement. 'To where' will be left ambiguous for future exploitation!

Okay, things are getting really close to having everything set up well enough to start off, I think. We're just missing two profiles, and I'd like to get confirmation about resolution for a few remaining character claim conflicts:

People that have signed up but have not yet posted a profile:

- Gappy
- Moerin

I know Gap is incredibly busy (and I haven't seen her for a few days honestly) but we're going to need these sooner or later. Moerin, like I've said before, if you want help putting together your profile, just ask me here or in the IRC chat.

Existing character claim conflicts:

VIVIT:
Zengar + Trance

Parsee:
Acidus + Himiko

Iku:
Acidus + rdj

Satori:
rdj + Yono

Rin Satsuki:
Moerin + Zengar

NOTE: These markings are based on what characters are listed without strikethroughs in peoples' original signup posts; if these have been resolved, I would like the 'surrendering' person to strikethrough their previous claim to make it clear what the decision is. (For example, I'm pretty sure Himiko gave up Parsee, but it isn't crossed off in her signup here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg598951.html#msg598951), and has now marked it off as requested, while rdj has very clearly marked (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg599123.html#msg599123) giving up Hina and Nitori.)

Let me know on IRC or here once you've edited those so I can mark off the claim conflicts here!

Potential late returns from Season 1 and resulting character conflicts:

Xan
- Had Yuyuko, Youmu, and Kogasa
Yuyuko claim could conflict with Someome/YuyukoYukari.

Gpop
- Had Satori, Koishi, and Merlin?
Satori could conflict with rdj, but I'm pretty sure she's not a priority for him - shouldn't be an issue.
Koishi would conflict with Acidus.

Madness Chaser
- Had Eirin and... was that it?
Might be signing up too late, gonna talk to Gap about it.

Zei
Has dropped. Flan is open and should no longer be an issue.

Okay I'm a lazy ass but it's about time to do this.

PROFILE APPROVALS HO

I'm probably gonna be fairly lenient about stuff here, but I'm also going to provide warnings about things that I see that could become problematic if not handled well.

Adri, Annalessa (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600075.html#msg600075): OK
An 'empty shell' character will be interesting to work with, especially given the emotional nature of things that will eventually be relevant. No explicit supernatural abilities makes this easy to accept.

Jana, Jan (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600100.html#msg600100): OK
A returning character with little reason to reject. There's a little detail missing, I guess, but nothing too concerning. Just be careful about the extent of magic use in the future - given the option, Patch and Koa are the experts, after all.

Kakyoin, Ken (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600208.html#msg600208): OK
It's... certainly usable, but I'm definitely getting an 'all-around hero' vibe from him that makes me wary. Careful not to go overboard with it; don't forget that this guy was mostly a student and sports player, rather than a fighter.

LordVant, Vant (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600240.html#msg600240): OK
Brute force/martial art specialization is alright, but remember that it has limits, especially as a human in Gensokyo. I can buy being an okay match for Meiling in martial arts, I guess, but not in danmaku as well.

Anathe, Hiroko (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600328.html#msg600328): OK
Interesting. Her... influences are subtle and non-invasive, which is quite acceptable. I suspect they'll come into play more in the future - just be careful to keep their consequences in proportion and/or remain quiet until the scope they'd have is reasonable for current game events.

Trance, Hirowaza (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600538.html#msg600538): OK
Another one to be careful with, but some IRC discussion and using VIVIT for scaling excuses makes me comfortable enough. Keep it synergistic.

Yonowaaru, Umbron (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600596.html#msg600596): OK
A bit bare-bones, but okay. Just keep the swordmaster shenanigans in scope.

Erebus, Owlbear (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600643.html#msg600643): OK
Based on IRC talk, apparently toned down significantly from season 1, possibly for the better (though was he really that strong then?). No real concerns to speak of.

Rabbit, Daimon (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600765.html#msg600765): Needs some modification
As I warned, (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg601511.html#msg601511) while the character and history are appropriate, it needs to lead back to starting off in Gensokyo, though the exact reasons for it can be left unclear. I'm not sure if there should be as many references to Season 1 events as there are, but I'd be willing to let that much slide.

Zengar, Wodan (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg600787.html#msg600787): OK
Nothing to complain about here. Quite good.

Anthony, Joey (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg601343.html#msg601343): OK
Also quite appropriate. A good amount of wandering connections, but nothing to complain about.

Etch, Etch (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg601461.html#msg601461): OK
Nothing to complain about offhand, unless there's some world-changing secret in that laptop. :V Let's just not have a repeat of Ria's antics, shall we?

nemoma, Amarillo (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg601570.html#msg601570): Please revamp
As discussed on IRC a day or two ago, the current version (April 26) is pretty much the Season 1 one without any revisions or updates... and I'll admit powers and such for Amarillo have always concerned me a bit. Let me know if you need any help updating it, but I'm not confident with it as it is.

Sectimonious, Hugh (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg603470.html#msg603470): OK
Pretty interesting. Sure thing.

YuyukoYukari, Yuki (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg606852.html#msg606852): OK
Very cute. :P No complaints to speak of.

Kanjou, Tsunade (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg606857.html#msg606857): OK
I like it. I suppose... don't go overboard with whatever that "mysterious girl" she runs into is? That's the only real concern I can try for.

rdj, Roark (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg610484.html#msg610484) OK
Fine. No concerns to speak of; hopefully, if I helped out with it. :[

Himiko, Himiko (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg610527.html#msg610527): OK
I like the character, and it sounds like a good setup. Just be careful how far "great potential for magic" ends up going in the near future, I guess?

E-mouse, Jeremy (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg610576.html#msg610576): Bullshit
what the fuck is this shit i asked for a profile not a novel SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP

---

A rough plan/outline is in mind for the restart scenario and post that I may end up writing some stuff for soon, but again, I'd like to get a final few things sorted out. I still need to get final answers from Xan and Gpop, and there are still two profiles unwritten so far.

Thanks for the patience, everybody @_@

>It's... certainly usable, but I'm definitely getting an 'all-around hero' vibe from him that makes me wary. Careful not to go overboard with it; don't forget that this guy was mostly a student and sports player, rather than a fighter.

I have mechanisms in place (read: plans) to prevent this from happening. One example: my character does not have much actual combat experience with ANY of his skills, and it will show. He was training to become a well-rounded, capable fighter, but his training was cut very short by the Neo WufTD events.

I like it. I suppose... don't go overboard with whatever that "mysterious girl" she runs into is? That's the only real concern I can try for.

Don't worry about it. The mysterious girl is just a... how do I describe it... someone who won't make an appearance in the game bar Tsunade thinking she saw her. Like a 'do I keep seeing her out of the corner of my eye' thing. I know the rules, so I won't break them; it might give me room to make a side-story out of it in PSL though once the game has gone on for a while. (Has too many ideas.)

Thank you either way; I look forward to getting started with this. XD

Name : 林 希莹 / Amarillo Viridian
Picture: Art By BorisX (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15526315/AmV.jpg)
Gender : Female
Age : looks 12.
Actual Age : 16

Background Story:
She was created by NOD (Yes, that NOD) using a gene template from another deminsion to figure out how her template's ability (which is telepathy and healing animals in that deminsion) works and how it can be turned into militiry use. She was never awakened and goes by the codename "HEALER". However, before the experiment even started, the Chrono Agents, who are a group of humans with abilities related to time control broke into the lab as a step of "fixing history" and bring her back to their time-frame.
Upen discover the truth behind her and NOD's experiment, the leader of Chrono Agents, GA-01 林仙凤, decided that the best way of stopping her from their enemy's hands (and possibly cruel experiments) is to make her one of them instead. Thus, her DNA is once again modifyed by the Chrono Agents, and GA-01 put part of her own personality in it to finish the thought system. Thus awakened her.
She was giving the name 林希莹 and the Number 4 in their ranks, and is giving a chance to Serve as a Chrono Agent for her ability of Telepathy, or being protected and live a normal life. She choose the later.
Thus, she was sent to Gensokyo instead.
However, it seems luck is never on her. She was dropped into Gensokyo in the exact moments when NOD and FARGO(A cult whose goal is to use people with abilities for unlimited power) invaded Gensokyo for the Youkais. The only lucky thing about it, is that she falls on Koakuma, who acts as the cover in the retreating of SDM. At that point her new power awakened that enable her to talk telepathly with the fairies in Gensokyo and eventually the two fend off the pursuits and retreated to Hakurei Shrine.
After the threat of NOD and FARGO are all clear. She lives in a hut that's on the edge of Forest Of Magic.
Short before the incident which destroys Gensokyo, she learned the existence of Satsuki Rin, who perferres to be far from other's. After learning the exact nature of Gensokyo Fairies, she developed the ability to synchorize their thoughts and merge with them.
Amarillo is the name she chooses around that date, to remind her of her abilities' origin.
Amarillo is alarmed of the collapse of Gensokyo by her collagues in the Chrono Agent Team, that gives her planty of time to call upon Lily White, A fairy she trusts the most and get out of there before anything bad happens. Luckily, all of her fairy friends made it out. She first get help by a minor Chrono Agent member and even has a home of herself in the Town Shop Tourist Helpers. She is proved to be a reliable, caring and gentle girl in other's eyes.
She fought with her friends and companions....
She enlisted other's help....
And she is back in Gensokyo for now.....
But Is her fight ended?
The Story Continues On.

Visual:
Amarillo looks like a Grade 7 Girl with long blonde hair tied into a single ponytail. There is no other special visual qualities about her - she can perfectly merge and hide into a large crowd of people. She has a Chrono Agent Uniform but never wears it, instead she keep her own emblem - A Four Leaf Clover and pin it on a large straw hat that she wears. Her usual jacket and jeans also has that clover motif. Her eye color is blue, however the colors of her hair and eyes will change when she merges with a Fairy.

Personality:
Amarillo perferred to sort thing out with talks and brains, She dislikes violence, but will resort to them when things gets tough. Overall she is kind and easy-going, perhaps too easy-going that others may think that she is really 12 year old. She took that as an advantage. Under that cover she is actually very calm and concreated.

Not-So-Fun Facts - How her ability works:

(no, you can totally ignore the detailed parts, just know that when she merges with the fairy the fairy's own ability is amplified and she gain's Amarillo's stats.)

Amarillo Viridian's ability is officially named Fairy Synchro. This ability enables her to telepathically commute with all fairies from Gensokyo within a 2km radius. However, the most important trait of this ability is that by clear her mind she can merge with one of them. The merge or a fusion results in the fairy temporary gains Amarillo's memory, knowledge and mindset, with the fairy's elemental properies and wings intact. Also, even without a mana source like Gensokyo itself. Amarillo's energy will be enough to keep the fairies alive and their ability working. The radius of this energy sharing is 700m, outside of that range, the fairies begin to lose their fairy traits until they become as weak as normal humans.
Some of Amarillo's stronger forms (or rather, some of the strong fairies when they ampifyed themselves via Amarillo's powers) include:

Amarillo GALE
Hair Color: Green
Eye Color: Green
Element : Rain/Restore
Amarillo with Daiyousei AKA Gale, in this form she controls the element Rain, and she can extend the life energy sharing from fairies into other species, too bad this won't actually heal them like the fairies did. She can stay longer in this form without exhause her self that much thanks to the Restore Element she gains.

Amarillo SUNNY
Hair Color: light yellow
Eye Color: Brown
Element : Light/Mirror
Amarillo with Sunny Milk, nothing special is enabled or disabled besides Sunny's ability to manulupite the reflection of Light.

Amarillo STAR
Hair Color: Blue
Eye Color: Blue
Element : Light/Eternal
Amarillo with Star Sapphire, nothing special is enabled or disabled besides the better sense she gains via Star's ability.

Amarillo MOON
Hair Color: Light Yellow
Eye Color: Brown
Element: Light/Sound
Amarillo with Luna Child, in this form she can alter people closely surrounds her so they hear things projected from her. It could be a music piece, or Amarillo's thoughts.

Amarillo LW
Hair Color: Unchanged
Eye Color: Red
Element: Spring/Birth
Amarillo with Lily White, this is the form she had taken most, since this form enables her to telepathly commute with anyone in a 100m radius thanks to Lily White's Spring Element, however it's limited to sending only, if she wants to read people's thoughts or perform anything that involves using Telepathy to change one's thoughts, she will be drained fast and can only perform for 5 minutes before needing to rest.

Amarillo LB
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Red
Element: Judgement/Rebirth
Amarillo with Lily Black, this form enables her use her energy to release lightening-like energy waves. However it's driven on Telepathy and is very exhausting. Plus, she is really not with Lily Black for most of the time since Lily Black thinks that her gentle nature makes her "too soft".

If Amarillo merges with Cirno, Cirno will completely burn her down when using her original Ice Powers, in fact, last time she did so it killed Amarillo outright. Luckily being from a different Time-Frame, her death can be averted by simply construct another body and bind it with her "soul" again. However it's assumed that this form can freeze everything in a certain radius.

Fun? Facts:
When Amarillo sleeps, there is absolutely nothing that can awake her. She can be killed by simply stab her when she's sleeping. That's why one of the fairies will ask to act as her guard whenever she's asleep. It's not like that fairies need that much sleep anyway.
All of Amarillo's life skills is entered as Modules and can be easily added when she's in her old timeframe. However she don't need all of the skills and took only cooking instead.
Even though Amarillo's created, that don't count her as an android or robot, she is 100% human.

Relationships:
Daiyousei, Cirno, Lily White : +++
Lily Black, Three fairies of light : ++
SDM crew, Subterrain crew: + Due to her 1st encounter in Gensokyo, and similiar ability to Satori.
Everything else in Gensokyo : Neutral
She don't really hate anyone currently.

Well, I won't class it is 'lengthy' but I'll probably post in here a fair bit.

Side note: YAY! It's finally up! And such a good starting post too. A couple of things to ask though...

1) Our fluffy Kirby look-alike. By the sounds of what you said, we can say what it does to us. However, does this mean that we decide what it drops or does that decision come down to you? This I want to make certain of before I type anything.

2) With our Kirby look-alike heading into the skies, I some how don't think it'll reach me on my first write-up (well, in my head anyway.) He/she doesn't have to be in the opening part of our write-up does it? If not, I can do a more feasible explanation (or wait for someone to progress it enough for me to make a better connection to me) of how it makes its way to me. This way, it actually gives me a nice chance to set up everything before the next post in the timeline.

These are my questions for the time being. Thank you for getting this up, by the way. I have been looking forward to this so much! <3

Thanks. :3

In answer to your questions -

1) You can decide what it drops. Nothing that grants superpowers, please. Simple, mundane treasures and food. Maybe it shoots them as danmaku? Hmm, there's a thought.

2) The god of plenty doesn't have to feature in your first post, no. Still, it's a good starting point and a way to join the rest of the crowd. Also, it might not necessarily stay up in the sky. It might drop and bounce about along the ground or something. Just use your imagination. Nothing about Kirby the god of plenty is set in stone. :3

Wait, we're supposed to follow the Kirby thing to the shrine? I kinda just let it bounce away.

The Kirby thing is bouncing around erratically, dropping food and invitations wherever it goes. Hitting it would probably produce more, but isn't necessary to find some of them dropped along the way.

Also, Yono, there's some relatively minor issues with your current post (and regrettably the backstory set up for Murasa that I didn't notice earlier but is easy to remedy):

1. Timestamps/timeline: Pinky puffball didn't eat and run at the Hakurei Shrine until at least 6 AM, realistically significantly later: It wouldn't have left invitations there until a while later. Move at least that timestamp up at least half an hour (preferably more), and/or cover it more as Aya reporting on her latest scoop after a quick investigation of the puffball without trying to stop it for whatever reason.

2. Somehow I didn't notice/point out the part about the Holy Palanquin ending up on Youkai Mountain in your profile. Unfortunately this is directly contradictory to canon (it was used as a base for the main Myouren Temple in the human village), so hopefully it won't be a problem to rework that a little. A branch shrine in the tengu village would make sense, and hopefully having it be generic instead of the Palanquin itself won't cause any trouble for your plans. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier. orz

I'll also hopefully have a list of minor curiosities going on (mostly Nemo's ideas) that I should have pointed out earlier available later on for consideration; just a couple of odd things going on in Gensokyo that aren't quite normal, but aren't Incident-worthy. Possibly just fairy antics, but...~

Don't worry, I have an idea of sorts. In fact, with how many people are planting the inclusion of our lovely fluffy friend, I've got a decent time that should work out for me (and hopefully everyone else.) Fluff-ball will be included in my 2nd part (still writing) when a couple more chirp in.

Also, yes, that was me posting just now in my character profile. Don't be confused.  :3 I did say I had a lot of ideas.

And Nazrin... I hope mine is ok. I had to have a character with a journal of sorts.  :derp: [Hides away for thinking too much.]

The first thing has been fixed, gotta have some continuity, right? Sorry about not seeing that...

The second part... In my backstory thing, I kinda wrote that the palanquin had moved to the mountain. If that is too barring or something, I'll try to remove it and think of something else.

Unfortunately, I didn't notice it then and think about it enough to properly point it out. But it WAS used as the main foundation for the temple in the human village, and I don't think revising it into a branch shrine (that Murasa handles solo for some reason, probably personality traits that help her get along better with the tengu than with humans) would cause much trouble. Sorry for the hassle, but I think this would be for the better and shouldn't be TOO much trouble.

All righty! I don't mind at all, just so you know. A branch shrine would do fine. I'll change it somewhere in the near future.

Sorry that this is so late.  Sorry sorry sorry sorry. >.<

But, uh, here goes nothing...

Picture: (Obviously not mine, but I can't seem to find the original link.  Oh well.) (http://i52.tinypic.com/2qci5ww.jpg)
Name: Nathanial Theodore Wrist (Nate for short)
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Origin: Ambiguously British.  Was born in Edinburgh, but moved around the country a lot whilst he was growing up.
Home: An apartment above his bookstore.
Occupation: Nate owns a small bookstore in the Human Village that specialises in texts from the outside world, more specifically books published after the border went up (so works of the 20th-21st centuries).  It doesn't get that much business, but enough people shop there to allow Nate to survive.
Visual Description: Tall, but very thin and pale.  Nate's body structure and soft facial features tend to give him a somewhat effeminate appearance.
?   Hair colour: Brownish-blond
?   Hairstyle: Messy and wild, mostly because Nate never bothers actually doing anything with it.  When he first entered Gensokyo it was pretty long, reaching halfway down his back, but for unknown reasons he recently had it cut to just above shoulder length.
?   Eye colour: Dark blue
?   Clothing: Nate doesn't put much thought into what he wears, and generally belongs to the "jeans and t-shirt" contingent.  Most of the clothes he bought himself are black.  More recently, however, Reisen has taken it upon herself to make him more presentable and has bought him a new wardrobe, which is noticably brighter than his old one.  Nate is shortsighted, and thus wears a pair of glasses with small, rectangular lenses.

Personality: Cheerful and polite to everyone he meets.  Unless he's behind the counter, Nate is very shy and reserved, and usually rather quiet, but once he gets started talking it's very difficult to get him to stop.  He's also somewhat eccentric, and has a reputation for harbouring some rather strange ideas (even for someone living in Gensokyo).  A pacifist by nature, Nate will only ever fight out of self-defence, or if something or someone he cares about is being threatened and/or in danger.  Although he is usually rather cheerful, he is prone to the occasional bout of severe melancholy, although this has become a less common occurance since he met Reisen and the Watatsuki sisters.  Whilst Nate is generally a somewhat silly, bumbling and kind of lazy character, when he gets serious he really gets serious, to the point that he is almost frighteningly hyper-efficient.

?   Likes: Books (especially old and/or rare volumes have been known to make him act like a squeeing schoolgirl), figuring out "the truth" (what Nate actually means by this is unknown, but at least he's pretty fervant about it), cute things, super robot anime, aliens, time travellers, espers, sliders, and
that one cute blonde girl with the weird musical instrument that he keeps seeing around town but can never work up the guts to talk to.
?   Dislikes: Obvious solutions (nothing is ever so simple!), the single cabal of powerful individuals (dating back to ancient Egypt) directing the course of human history that the common man prefers to believe don't exist, Japanese food, people who mishandle books, and that nagging feeling that somehow he's getting everything wrong and there is no conspiracy (complete nonsense, I know, but you have to keep an open mind to every possibility).

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions: To unravel the conspiracy he just knows is all around him, to get to the truth no matter what, to somehow keep his book store running even whilst doing this, and finally,
to somehow always be surrounded by cute girls~ ^_^V
History/Background: Nate was always kind of weird, to be fair.  Most people tend to have some strange ideas whilst they're children, but he's never really let go of them even after reaching adulthood.  Whilst he was growing up, his parents kept moving from job to job, and so he spent a lot of time moving about the country.  As such, he was never really able to make any deep friendships, and mostly spent his time reading.  He's... Not entirely sure why, but at some point in his late teens he ended up in Gensokyo, a land of myth and magic hidden away in secret from the outside world ("Called it.") and, with nothing really better to do, he set up his book store in the Human Village.

About a year after entering Gensokyo, Nate somehow came into contact with the Watatsuki sisters, Yorihime and Toyohime, and their servant Reisen.  The three were seeking lodgings, as they were on a diplomatic mission for the Moon Kingdom to Gensokyo, and Nate, not being one to pass up the opportunity to help out some beautiful alien princesses and their cute bunnygirl, gleefully offered to let them stay at his place for as long as they needed.  A few years have passed since then, and Nate is starting to regret being so charitable, as they still haven't left.  But as long as they're not causing too much trouble, he puts up with his Lunarian guests (besides, in Nate's eyes the downfalls of the arrangement are more than made up for by the fact that his lodgers are, y'know, really hot alien women.)

Recently, Nate has started noticing a strange girl hanging around the Human Village, possessed of an ethereal, somewhat melancholic beauty.  He'd really like to get to know her, but he can never seem to work up the nerve to approach her, and anytime he thinks he has she always seems to have disappeared before he can approach her.  Asking about her around the village tends to get baffled looks from everyone, as no girl matching the description Nate gives of her has been seen anywhere near the village.

Ooops, how can the GM play without her own profile? :P

Picture: http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/5598/teamfubar2.jpg
Name: Mitaka
Gender: Male
Age:  18
Origin:  London, UK
 Home:  Hakurei Shrine
Occupation :  Live-in shrine caretaker
 Visual Description:
?   Hair colour : Black
?   Hairstyle    : Messy bed-hair
?   Eye colour : Hazelnut
?   Clothing     : Just a rather worn hakama and gi at the moment

Personality:
He's a rather laidback, easygoing person who enjoys good jokes, good friends, and a good life. He can be a bit sarcastic sometimes but he's a compassionate person at heart. He is simple, naive, lacks personal ambition. Fiercely passionate about helping others. Couldn't stand still when people are suffering before him. Has something that can pass for intelligence under casual observation, but not exactly good with reading situations and reading between the lines. Can make up plans on the fly, however. He values his friends and family more than anything.

?   Likes          : Laughter, jokes, witty people, good food, good friends, music, Gensokyo
?   Dislikes      : Lame jokes, people who take jokes too seriously, spicy food, darkness, heights

Goals/Objectives/Ambitions:
- Live a nice, simple, peaceful life.
- Learn more about the Gensokyo that Reimu protects.
- Help Reimu protect Gensokyo.
- Keep those he cherishes safe from harm.
- One day show his friends in Gensokyo the beauty of the world outside, particularly London.
- One day actually defeat Suika in a drinking game.
- Learn to fly properly to avoid having to ride Genji around all the time.
- Somehow get more people to donate more to the Hakurei shrine.

History/Background:
A former Japanese expatriate who was raised in Britain. He had returned to Japan for what he thought was going to be a brief holiday during his gap-year. For reasons unknown, he somehow ended up in Gensokyo, finding himself lost and alone in the forest of Magic. He stumbled around for 2 weeks, narrowly escaping becoming youkai food a good few times. He was finally rescued by Reimu when he was on the verge of becoming spider food alongside Cirno and Rumia. Reimu offered him shelter for a while and they quickly became good friends.

Theme:  (Optional)

Fun Facts:
- Is nicknamed 'Taka-kun' by Reimu.
- Is nicknamed 'Deodorant' by Jeremy Nezu. Probably a play on the Armpit joke.
- Reimu is nicknamed 'Armpits' by the very same Jeremy. Probably good to note.

Additional Information/Background/History: (added later)

Relationships
- Reimu (Benefactor, Boss, Close Friend) - Reimu is a saviour to whom Mitaka owes his life. When he first met her, she was shut in, isolated and struggling with poverty. Mitaka has since worked hard to help her open up, interact more with those around her, as well as help her with earning money in and around the human village. For some strange reason, they didn't quite feel like strangers when they first met. It's as if they had always known one another. Now a few years have gone by and they've become, at the very least, close friends.

- Marisa (Friend, Fellow Prankster)

- Alice (friend? Mostly target of teasing. She seems to loathe him.) -

- Suika (Close friend, Adopted Little Sister, Fellow Prankster)

- Ruukoto (Friend, Family?)

- Byakuren (A bit more than an acquaintance, something of a friend)

- Jeremy Nezu (Friend, fellow outsider) - Mitaka first met Jeremy through a certain Yukari Yakumo, frequent visitor and tea-moocher at the shrine. At first glance Mitaka thought 'gap's boy toy'. For some reason, he seemed quite familiar. Either way, they became friends of sorts. It was inevitable, considering how often Yukari crashes the shrine.

- Vant (Acquaintance, rival?, Fellow Outsider) - Mitaka considers Vant his 'counterpart' at the Moriya shrine, though he kind of envies the fact that he's treated more like an honoured guest there.

- Yuki (Acquaintance, Customer, Fellow Outsider) - Mitaka met Yuki on one of his visits to the human village while pedaling fortunes and charms on behalf of the shrine. He particularly enjoys her violin playing - something not too common in Gensokyo, and decided to frequent her performances whenever he passes through the village.

- Ken (Acquaintance, fellow outsider) - Mitaka's aware of Ken, an outsider living in the human village. Being the caretaker of the Hakurei Shrine, Mitaka also takes care of the human village register, keeping tabs on births, deaths, new arrivals and departures. Keine came along and reported Ken's arrival at one point and since then Mitaka has made a point of visiting him and making his acquaintance one day.

- Hugh (Acquaintance, customer, fellow outsider) - Mitaka had been taken by surprise when he found a fellow outsider selling produce at the farmer's market. He has since developed great respect for Hugh and his great knowledge of agriculture and how easily and quickly he had integrated himself into the farming community of the human village.

- Hiroko (Friend, Fellow Outsider) - A rather strange friend who's always friendly yet mysterious. Mitaka could not quite understand her fully. He understands even less how she manages to survive in the perilous darkness of the underground around the Ancient City. She seemed strangely familiar, even on their first meeting, and, her being so forward and friendly, they quickly became, at the very least, friends. Mitaka relies on her for help getting in and out of the Ancient City, particularly past her friend, the rather jealous bridge princess, who seems to hold a grudge against him for some reason.

- Hirowaza (Friend? Fellow Outsider) - Mitaka doesn't quite understand Hirowaza. He knows quite well that Hirowaza's close friend, Meira, has something against the Hakurei, thus the distance she keeps. Hirowaza on the other hand has, on occasion, chatted with Mitaka. He still seems quite distant after all this time though. Mitaka feels he's met Hirowaza before somewhere, but couldn't quite place it....

- Tsunade (Acquaintance, Fellow Outsider) - Mitaka has bumped into her several times, mainly when he comes down to the Ancient City, either to extract Suika out of the drunken company of her oni friends, or on errands to the city that somehow always inevitably end with trouble with Yuugi, who just can never get enough of challenging newcomers (for some reason she could never commit Mitaka to memory and thus as far as she's concerned he's always fresh meat). He's quite fascinated by her singing and thinks quite highly of it.

- Himiko (Acquaintance, Fellow Outsider) - As far as Mitaka is concerned, Ibara Kasen is an enigma, and so is everything that has anything to do with her. Himiko is one of them. Mitaka is under the impression that Himiko is a fellow hermit and he feels great respect for that. He knows he himself would never be able to make that dedication.

- Umbron (Acquaintance, fellow outsider) - Mitaka's aware of Umbron, him being a fellow outsider. He hasn't met him much though, seeing as he lives in a secluded area up in the mountains.

re; my first post
I HOPE YOU LIKE WORDS

-----

Gappy, Mitaka: OK?
It looks good, though established relationships with most of the existing cast may throw a wrench into a few plans (like most of my stuff with Jer not knowing him, and overcoming the reclusiveness of some of the others). If anyone gets thrown off by that too much, it might be worth trying to smooth over sometime. (Though I'd rather do that in chat with you if we get the chance.)

-----

The thorough readers may have noticed something about a list of mini-incidents late in the fucking 20 pages of reading thrown in your general direction. If you noticed without reading this, congratulations!

While the details of these aren't intended to be widely public knowledge and should be of little relevance during the Great FOEKirby Chase, there are several locations that, if happened upon, have extra details to consider adding if you want a little extra spice and continuity:

1. Korindou (especially talking to Rinnosuke)
2. Youkai Mountain's waterfall
3. Sky above Misty Lake (SDM lake)
4. Far end of the Forest of Magic
5. Hakurei Shrine backyard (caution: currently guarded by a Yukari)
6. Lake Suwa on Youkai Mountain

It's worth noting that virtually all of the items here can be easily written off as fairy pranks, so there's no need to get too worked up over them, whether it's noticed or not.

A few of these player-characters and Touhous would normally have noticed, even if it wasn't considered a big deal; hopefully tomorrow I'll send PMs about that to people who should have background knowledge of the relevant detail. And work out a little bit of the details with Gap and Nemo. For now, I desperately need sleep.

A few points I want to add here.

1. The first rule of WUFTD is: you do not talk about WUFTD

1. I would have preferred it if Gappy hadn't established a connection with me already, as that forces my involvement with the majority of the participants (seeing as Gappy's character, Mitaka, knows everyone else and seems to be drawing many others to him). I have a lot of other obligations in life that deal with graduate school and staying healthy, so my free time is short, and it will be even shorter come summer in a few more weeks. I don't feel comfortable allocating a lot of time to making sure I do a good job including others and their partners in my own posts often, because if I'm included in a large group by someone else, that probably means I'm expected to include everyone else (or most others) in that group in my posts at that time, as well. Which leads into my next point...

2. I do feel comfortable pairing up with one other group for a while, though. Focusing on one other group for a bit is much less complex and time-consuming for me than having to keep tabs on everyone. Just let me know via PM here or in the IRC chat and we can work something out.

I hope everyone understands where I'm coming from with these two points. And lastly...

3. Just a general thing: Write as much as you want in a post in the RP thread. You can even post multiple times if you want, per situation. Don't worry about how much others post in relation to you, just work at a pace you are comfortable at. You don't have to write the next Touhou novella, just have fun!

I'll need a bit of time to think on how I'm going to jump in on this. Being essentially a dimension away from the main event does prove to be a bit of...a hindrance, but I can think of something, if given time, I suppose.

Quick note on the current situation - I believe it would be most logical for Our Kirby to try and attack the SDM next, after being driven away from the Human Village. It would be rather easily chased off by the residents there (though I suspect it could get past Meiling), but it does give Jana an excuse/reason to post!

Gappy has graciously allowed me to trade Nitori Kawashiro to her in exchange for Alice Margatroid. So, my current partner list is now:

Hina Kagiyama
Medicine Melancholy
Alice Margatroid

Thus, I now (or rather, I will) have the Doll Team! (I'll come up with a better title for it at some point)

I won't get most if not all of my final partners until later on (right now on Day 1, I have Keine and Reisa accompanying my character), so anyone who has Hina, Medicine or Alice right now can feel free to continue including them on their teams up until the "serious" WUFTD events come around.

Er, Yonowaaru, quick problem to bring up: The festival is actually tomorrow in the game, not today; Day 1 is the day before Reitaisai, not the day of it. This has tripped up several people, so it's not that unusual, but it should probably be corrected... hopefully that won't be too difficult.

Not many have actually headed to the shrine; there's a group that showed up to help out and Yukari is inscrutable, but most people are involved with the rampaging God of Plenty rather than seeking the festival itself, for the moment.

So because I'm so indecisive, I'm changing up my team again.

*Booed off stage*

I know, I know! But I'm not with any of my actual partners yet in the story, so I have some freedom (Currently traveling with Keine and Reisa). Here's the new lineup (a team of relatively unappreciated/unpopular Touhous):

Medicine Melancholy
Shizuha Aki
Kisume. Yes, Kisume. Bucket girl ftfw. I get to be with this (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/613469). Be jealous of her awesomeness.

Title: Re: Waking up from the Dream - Discussion Thread (Previously Registration Thread)
Post by: Kakyoin on June 01, 2011, 10:04:06 PM
Double-posting since my previous post has nothing to do with this one.

Based on what I've seen so far, some of the Neo WUFTD participants (namely, the ones who have yet to post) are having trouble catching up with the current story and/or injecting themselves into the current story. Given the number of participants this time around, this is a good indicator that keeping track of everyone's locations at any given time will be no easy task. I think we should we do something to help make it easier for others to get the lowdown on the story at any given time. So what should we do?

It's simple, we kill the batman

What I think would work well is if everyone who has posted creates a short summary (1-5 sentences, or however much you feel comfortable writing) describing what happened in each post. If everyone is okay doing this then any future posts will also need a corresponding summary to go along with them. However, it would be counter-intuitive to include these summaries in our posts (takes too long to search through pages of posts just to find the summaries). So, how would we display the summaries in a way that easily allows anyone to see what's happening at any time in the WUFTD story?

Several options that I could think of at the time:

1) Place the summaries (including the date, time and location of the post each summary is describing) in an open document (like a Google document) where anyone can view and add new summaries.

2) Same as #1, but in a new MotK thread.

3) Same as #1, but in a Google Calendar (this makes it easier to see when and where events occur, but requires additional maintenance on behalf of the primary calendar editors).

What does everyone else think about this summary idea?

I'll admit to being one of the ones that can't follow the story. I think a short summary might be a good idea, though I still hope people will read the posts rather than go tl;dr and read the summaries. But it'd be a good quick reference thing.

Gotta agree with Yuki here, (and by part you Ken) summary is great for those who need a quick catch up but it is nice to have people actually read the posts(of course, IF possible).

For some odd reason, google chrome absolutely refuses to open the story thread for me. Apparently it's due to content from tokiwa.cc. Anyone know anything about this?

As for summaries, if E-mouse is agreeable, he can convert one of his earlier posts into a summary reference post and everyone can simply contribute summaries for him to post there.

Alternatively, a wiki would be easier to maintain than a google doc.

I've just checked and got a warning page instantly; malware apparently. Very weird indeed.

I've checked using IE and it's fine there. I'm not too sure what it means, but it could just be a flare up for the day; unless you've seen it happen before.

A quick check of the page's source code shows that the content is Nemoma's broken signature image.

Team change: Trading out Shizuha Aki for Hatate Himekaidou since Shizuha was partnered with someone in the previous WUFTD, and I don't want to worry about stepping on backstories etc. Now I have Medicine, Hatate and Kisume. Updating previous posts.

Hey guys, it has been a while since anything got discussed, mentioned, and while I'm at it, written up. Ok, I may not have helped since I've been away too, but we need to be writing more. We need spirit and optimism! Or something along those lines. XD

Any how, Nazrin, if you're reading this, your Yukari flavoured post of mine will be coming up in my next post instead of the one just posted. Figured I'd do this one in two parts since this way...

A) I've actually got something to post up saying 'I'm still here, don't worry.'
and
B) I want a full post for this one. Simply because I know I'll have fun writing a
Yukari vs Yuugi
thing.

In other words, if you're going to do anything with Yukari before 11:10, do it now. She is 'your' responsibility after all.  :derp:

Yes, finally someone posted! Thanks, Kanjou. I had a post queued up and finally put it down, so I got Hatate on board now.

I don't know what's happening, but Neo-WUFTD seemed to be dying off. I hope others contribute more often (even if it's not a lot). Perhaps we need some sort of interest catching mechanism...perhaps a shift in activity or a something inspiring to write about, such as advancing the events of the day or possibly going on to the next day soon.

A shift in activity, you say? Well, a certain oni and an innocent gap youkai can easily provide your 'shift' in activity...

I may need to speak to Nazrin a bit more about it... And possibly Gappy; since whatever is left of the shrine may or may not be involved.  :derp:

Likely just Yukari.

My only excuse is that work has meant a lot less free time to dick around with, also leading to getting less sleep. And admittedly, the forum Quests being less time/thought intensive to follow.

If I'm lucky I'll finish the post I had in mind for a while now, and maybe start on the next main-story post with Nemoma, which will hopefully publicize a few significant things for people to include.

All right, so people are gonna hate me for this, but...TEAM SWITCH (approved by E-Peromyscus maniculatus (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=49) and Nemoe~ (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15))

OLD TEAM
Medicine Melancholy
Hatate Himekaidou
Kisume

NEW TEAM
Keine Kamishirasawa
Fujiwara no Mokou

Eirin Yagokoro
Kaguya Houraisan

Rationale/Explanations: Moerin has only ReisenII and the Watatsukis, of the Lunarians. Keine was originally property of Annalessa (Adriel's character), but he dropped. Keine was very fitting to become my Touhou partner anyway, based on the posts so far. Eirin Keine and Mokou were with Helepolis in the first WUFTD and he is not participating in this one; they were not too developed character-wise. Kaguya will be sought out by Eirin anyway, and I will most likely not acquire her and Eirin (likely Eirin before Kaguya) until much later in the story. I feel more comfortable having these four than throwing myself into relatively unknown territory with Medicine, Hatate and Kisume.

This means my new team is Team All-IN (all from Imperishable Night). Updating everything, blah blah blah, etc. If I try to change it even one more time, Nemo Ma has every right to inflict some form of punishment on me.

EDIT: Helepolis (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=65) hath spoken, Eirin was either used by someone else, or unused.

Keine was all lined up to be my Touhou partner anyway, based on the posts so far. Eirin and Mokou were with Helepolis in the first WUFTD and he is not participating in this one; they were not too developed character-wise but played relatively major parts in the plot of the first WUFTD.
:V just for clearance, I never had Eirin in my previous story. It was Keine , Mokou, Sakuya and later Mima.

I HOPE YOU LIKE WORDS!

If you don't, then
the Hakurei Shrine has been levelled.
The

what's left of it.

No need for spoilers, but a story is a story. And the spoilers stand if you were going to read it after this any how.

For those of you waiting for stuff to happen, now is your chance. And Himiko, here's the follow up you needed. XD

Eugh, what is this low-quality thing I just posted.

I'm kind of unsure about this post in general, especially concerning times and what was going on at the SDM and Hakurei Shrine at that point, so if there's something wrong or there are any inconsistencies, please tell me so I can go back and fix it.

Well, for me, only one thing is wrong with your post... The donation box isn't in front of the shrine any more.  :3

E-Nazrin knows where it is, being in control of Yukari and all; and Gappy will probably be informed of it too because Reimu. But that's it; it's a little joint secret.

You're right in that it's still in one piece though; it's just not at the shrine right now. XD

After mulling this over for about one and a half week's time, and as was approved by Nemo Ma (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=15) (without punishment, fortunately), I will be picking up Reisen Udongein Inaba as well as Kaguya Houraisan (Kaguya will be picked up later on in the story, relatively speaking).

See newest team posting (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8886.msg599092.html#msg599092) for details.

Mima possessed Owlbear before they left Makai..

So yeah, anyone who wants'er, you can hit me up and we can work somethin' out.

I need help.

That I've been unmotivated to write and working for like weeks is bad enough, but wanting to have at least a throwaway line for everyone present in the scene is one hell of a daunting task - especially when I'm not sure what all of them would do in a given situation.

So given that the current scenario is Reimu vs. Amarillo in the human village at 9:15 AM, I'd like to know what sorts of things the people that are there at the time would be doing during the fight. So far I have Mitaka hosting a picnic in town on top of his flag, but more might be a good idea.

From what I'm aware of, the list of people present for the fight would be:

Note: The *s mean that I have a line or involvement for them in mind already and should need less/no help with things
... and maybe Anathe's characters, if I forgot about them; or were they going to arrive later/went elsewhere? I don't remember @_@

If people could PM me and/or post here about what the listed characters they're responsible for would be inclined to do during/in response to the fight

From what I can gather from one of Nemoma's posts, when Reimu vs. Amarillo started, everyone else *left*. So...I'm not sure.

I recall a suggestion about Roark/Tenshi/Orin ending up near a destroyed building after Mitaka vs. Amarillo, but I can't remember what was said beyond that. As for reactions to the fight, Roark would probably be trying to stay away from it, having no defensive capabilities of his own; Orin would likely take Roark back to re-gather the things that Mitaka and Suika apparently stole; and Tenshi would watch the fight with rapt interest and immediately attack the winner and rejoin the other two once things get boring.

This... has been a very, VERY hard task. As such, I would appreciate it if everyone would take some time to look at this.

http://www.quicktopic.com/46/H/KTS3axd5688rH (http://www.quicktopic.com/46/H/KTS3axd5688rH)

It is a current, and up-to-date, timeline of all the events that have happened thus far.

There is a message above the timeline with a little bit more of an explanation, but all you need to know (pretty much) is in that link. Please, please, read this!

And with that... I need sleep. [Has spent 6 hours doing this; and it's 3:30am.]

Following up on Kanjou's post and EXCELLENT organizational efforts, I have taken the timeline Quick Topic idea one step further and converted it into (what I believe is) an easier way to edit aforementioned timeline: a Google Document. Here is the link to it: http://bit.ly/wuftdtimeline (http://bit.ly/wuftdtimeline)

Please take time to check it out for the sake of everyone else, and correct some issues that still remain. Anyone with the link may edit. I trust you all are mature enough to add to and edit the document as necessary with each post. I have updated it as of my last post on October 9th, 2011.

OK let's do this.
Anyone want to advance the plot and jump into action as fast as possible, say Aye.

/me say "Aye"

Advance the plot: Something will happen that, well, advance the plot, who knows, comes with one or more action scenes.

Anyone who want to quit, you can do so.

Also, Ken above me did a very good job on...... building a timeline, so resort to that to know what pplz are doing at where in when.

Fujiwara no Mokou (unchanged)
Reisen Udongein Inaba (unchanged)
Sakuya Izayoi (replacing Keine Kamishirasawa)
Hina Kagiyama (replacing Eirin Yagokoro)
Maribel Hearn Sanae Kochiya (replacing Kaguya Houraisan)

Updating previous posts appropriately.

Great news!

Now that the plot has been advanced (see Nemo's latest post (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,9486.msg741224.html#msg741224)), Reimu has discovered what Amarillo is up to. It is now up to you all to decide how your team finds out about what Reimu overheard in the cave (for example, Aya could have heard it from Reimu and will swoop in and tell your team, or Reimu herself will tell your team, etc.). NOTE: Please end your next post by heading out to the Hakurei Shrine a little bit before midnight on Day 1 (00:00:00 on Day 2), that way the continuation makes sense chronologically.

If you're worried about conflicts (e.g., one team wants to hear from Reimu at 5:00PM and another also wants to hear from Reimu at 5:00PM), either flex your creativity and think of another reason, or work out details via PM here at MotK or in the IRC channel (irc.ppirc.net, room #wuftd).

Edit: E-Nazrin has made me a GM for Neo WUFTD, and Nemo Ma and I will be working to advance things as quickly and appropriately as we can.

Edit 2: This is VERY important: If you have plans between your last post and midnight on Day 1, you still have time to make them happen as long as it ends in time to gather at the Hakurei Shrine at 12:00am Day 2. In other words, you are not forced to post about finding out what Reimu heard, you can post about other things as well.

ok, enough jokesXD

As of now, the truth that Amarillo is talking until now is finally revealed, and honestly it somehow tied into Season 1 for that matter..
But it's all right! even though you didn't seen Season 1 before, Amarillo perfectly tell you what's going on.
Touhous, being Touhous, won't let the final fight slip thought Amarillo really don't want to, not like she cannot versus all of them (with a price, of course)!

Good luck posting!
