An Applocale Related Question
« on: March 13, 2013, 10:18:58 PM »
I have a question related to Applocale and Fangames.

I want to play a demo of a certain Fangame, Touhou Rhythm Carnival. Do I have to use Applocale to set my language to Japanese to play it? I don't want to do this all over again, so if the answer is yes, then I will avoid downloading the demo.

(I have had several difficulties with Applocale before, so I'm trying to be cautious.)

(Oh, by the way, I'm using a Lenovo Laptop with Windows 8.)

Default solution with Japanese games with bugs: AppLocale.

I don't know for this specific game though.

System locale is not system language, all it does is mean you can display Japanese characters in file paths (and turns your backslash into a yen sign).

Just setting your system locale to Japan is much easier than using Applocale. Applocale is for when you can't do this i.e your system language is not English, and you have other non-latin (and arabic, lets not forget about the numbers) characters in file paths.

Applocale is not a solution for installers, only for running a program post installation. Installers will often (if they include any kind of compressed archive) still need you to switch system locale. That's the bit most people fail with.
