Hey Touhou players! I've started modding Touhou these past few days and a boss practice patch is something I've always wanted to make. After studying how Touhou Toolkit works and what goes where, I've managed to make my goals a reality and create something for myself! I'm aware there's already various patches out there, but I really wanted my own hand at making these. So, without further ado, here are my creations.

General Description and Changes

  • All stage portions are removed. Only midbosses and bosses remain. I consider Nueballs in UFO as midbosses. The Orin at the beginning of Stage 4 I excluded however; I only kept in the second apperance.
  • All stages have power and resource dumps at the very beginning. MoF gives power, point and faith; SA gives power; UFO gives power, life and bomb; TD gives power with bosses dropping more resources; DDC gives power and items for 2.0 bonuses; LoLK gives power.
  • Simply rename "thxxbossrush.dat" to "thxx.dat" for usage. Make sure to backup your original thxx.dat first!
  • Replays work with these; however, you must be using the boss rush dat files to use them.
  • Scorefiles also work with these. Feel free to use a fully unlocked scorefile for practice.

Big thanks to Xirno and Kazatski for helping me figure out how to decipher the ecl files, as well as their very own boss rush patches (found on Xirno's page).
Also thanks to Riri for the ecl data on the Chinese wiki (full info here, everything is in Chinese).

BOSS-ONLY BOSS RUSH

Usage is exactly the same as the regular versions. All midbosses are removed.

Also, I added fully unlocked scorefiles for usage with boss rush in case you do not have all practice stages unlocked.

Maybe that's because GFW doesn't use the "normal" power and rather uses 100% to represent 1 power level.

Indeed, but perhaps I could try to find a way to assign the following values:

Large power: Gain 500% ice area (or some similar value).
Full power: Gain 3000% ice area.
1up: Gain 100% motivation.
Bomb: Gain 100% perfect freeze.

If I could find out how, I would definitely try it...

Updated DDC Bossrush slightly

2.0 bonuses on every spell card is too op, so I nerfed that.

PDH Practice (P3 start)

If you hate waiting for the first two phases each time, say no more. This one is just like the one before but starts right at the difficult phase.

Practice skips directly to these bosses' respective spell cards. These cards start automatically at their timeout phase rather than the usual. Good luck capturing these!

EDIT: Fixed some unintended behavior regarding Grudge Bow, and gave you 8 lives to start because the spell is brutal enough that you'll need them.

Subterranean Sun + Subterranean Rose Timeout

Since Sub Rose does not have a timeout phase, my rendition of it is simply the fourth phase, except it's around 1.5x faster. Should make it more interesting to dodge.

EDIT: Fixed it so that Sub Rose does not keep canceling bullets. Oversight, woops.

I've cleared every touhou game on Lunatic, and beaten every extra except SoEW.

Glad you liked these.  :3 I enjoy making them myself.

I've still got a long list of things I plan to do, working on more spell related mods right now actually.

EDIT: Just made another one: Mishaguji-sama + Virtue of Wind God

Since I have no plans to modify Virtue of Wind God (this spell is absolutely horrendous to code), it'll just remain as is. I'm pretty sure Virtue of Wind God has no timeout phase anyway.
Actually, nevermind. I did manage to modify a little. The delay between waves is now the same as the fastest form.

Launch the spells in practice mode and/or extra stage mode, not spell practice. Messing with the ecl files broke spell practice completely.

Updated - no more big fairy at the start of stages, and delays between midboss/boss are shortened.

HSiFS boss rush is done, for v1.00a.

You will get a power item and level 6 release at the start of every stage.

Edit: regular practice mode, max season at the start of stages 2-6. intended for no release practice
