One thing i've been meaning to ask Formless God, but is the pseudo-lack of pupils intentional? Not complaining, but it sorta gives her the whole "not quite there" impression.

Intentional, as she was based on the official Marisa

(I even ~~stole~~ used some of her colors)

Now ... the lineart tutorial. Definitely not the best one, but it gets the job done :V

#1. Crop the picture (it's Renko x Maribel, by the way xD)
#2. Go to Image -> Mode -> Grayscale. This turns the image into black & white. THEN switch back to RGB Color.
#3. Image -> Adjustments -> Brightness & Contrast. Raise Brightness until the image becomes clearer.
#4. Create layers. This is entirely up to you, though I recommend doing so for every "part" of the character (hat, hair, clothes, EVEN the collar).
#5. Zoom in and use the brush to, uhh, wrap the entire character (remember, 2px 85~100% Fill for alphes stuff. I used 1px 100% here because this is a different style). Use the eraser to sharpen the tips of the hair.
#6. Now duplicate the layer and name it "Silhouette", if you plan to make some covers :V. Even if you don't, I recommend doing so anyway. Then toggle the layer's visibility off.
#7. Use a lighter brush to draw the thinner strokes. Preferrably 1px 75% Fill.
#8. Use a thicker brush AND the eraser for the face.
EDIT: I missed a step here ... For the folds on her clothes and uhh ... hair, draw them with the 25% brush on a different layer.
#9 + #10.. Eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth should be drawn on a different layer. Use the Polygonal Lasso to fill stuff (as I did here to make her eyes look less sadistic), and make sure they are always placed under your brush strokes (see the layer order on the right-hand side)
#11. Add these to your character's eyes and hair.
#12. Create a layer above your Background, and fill it entirely with White.
#13 + #14. Sharpen the layers by duplicating them (this can also be done after you've finished coloring). Filter -> Sharpen -> Sharpen Edges if they STILL don't look sharp enough :V

Anyways, I'm somewhat proud of this one~ Personally, I think it's my best one yet.

I actually have plans involving Sara which kind of hinge on me learning to draw her right, so hopefully it came out well~ I'm thinking of picking up some coloured pencils tomorrow and really finishing her, so let's just hope I don't screw up the colouring process.

And yes, I know her boots look weird. I need to work on my footwear, it seems...

Formless God: Amazing, I can't wait to try out this tutorial on some of my stuff. I haven't really tried more than basic clone brush/eraser to clean up images a bit, so yeah, i'm excited. :3 Also, if A-F gets to be your personal groupie, can I drive the bus?

Onee-chan: I think so too! \o/ Though, if I may offer a reccomendation, I think the hips could be a little bit wider and more defined, to bring them into proportion with the chest.

You're getting the hang of it :V. Try to make the strokes more ... equal and sharp. They looked a bit blurry there

Well, I decided to trace the original so I could make her look slightly less anorexic... And she's supposed to look like she's walking forwards, hence why the legs look somewhat shorter than they should...

The faint strokes are not pointy enough. Though you can just lower their Opacity even more :V

Can actually someone give me some ideas how to draw shilouette-typish appearance like a char covered in darkness but from the shilouette you can still spot some of the shape / hairstyle / attributes. Maybe some glowing eyes and a visible smile.

Because I want to improve my art below here. I sketched this quickly to see if I can capture what I imagined in my head. Though I am going to have a hard time capturing the motions or somewhat faces correctly.
