(Shiki)Eiki Quest the 1st - Text Adventure of the Demonic Eye
« on: August 15, 2010, 11:59:20 PM »
>You are Shikieiki Yamaxanadu, and it's been an awful past week.
>Lately you've been having these strange nightmares that consist of what is basically a multi-part The Reason You Suck Speech and Hannibal Lecture delivered by a mysterious, shadowy figure that looked like an Eldritch Abomination. Because of those nightmares, you've been doubting yourself, your position as the Yama, and how moral you really are. You haven't lectured anyone for the past week, which shows just how effective these nightmares are.
>And that's not the only problem. After the first nightmare, you woke up to find your Cleansed Crystal Mirror broken into little pieces. You don't even know if those can be normally destroyed. The day after that, your Rod of Remorse (see above link) was found destroyed as well. And the day after that, your ability to see deeds in black and white stopped working normally, only seeing shades of grey (figuratively). All of this came with a gradual reducing of your power. You're probably only as strong as Yukari Yakumo right about now, and it has no signs of stopping.
>You've been unable to carry out your job for the past week, so you've been hanging out with Komachi. That didn't help you relax at all.
>You have finished your daily routine, and are outside of your...dwelling. What would you like to do now?

>"the 1st" meaning it's the first part of this text adventure. "Demonic Eye" is a Shout Out to something, figure out what it's a Shout Out to yourself. It does not have any other significance. Seriously. Ironically, that makes the title somewhat of a Word Salad Title, where the previous title was "(Shiki)Eiki Quest - Insert World Salad Title Here".

> Head-wall due to stress.
>You head-wall. Those were some terrible nightmares.

> Examine surroundings.
>You are currently in Higan, an endless flower garden. You see dead people wandering about. Normally you would judge if they would go to heaven, hell, or the netherworld and become Prinnies, but since you've been unable to carry out your duties, they linger.

>Have arrangements been made to handle things during our week of absence?
>No. A voice rumbles in your head that there is somebody is behind your nightmares and the replacement would just be subjected to the same thing. Or be killed. Or something.

>Consider relationships to other people.
>You've been befriending Komachi (not by beating the crap out of her) ever since you've been having these nightmares. Originally you just thought of her as a subordinate.

>You are the boss of several lesser judges and other people that shall remain nameless. You had no friends, but that's because you were solely concentrated on your job.

>Consider if we have any leads on who or what is doing this, and/or where they might be.
>You have no leads and no idea where they might be. You can only speculate. And you speculate that this being is not of Gensokyo. Or this world, for that matter.

>Check inventory
>Records
>Records of sins of people in Gensokyo, and what can be done to fix them. Because those nightmares made you unsure if you were right about anything while you were Yama, you've crossed out. This was probably stupid in hindsight.

>Clothes (currently equipped)
>Exactly What It Says On The Tin. You are currently wearing the same clothes as you were during the flower incident, maybe becuase you have no other clothes. Huh.

>If the replacement were to have the same problems as us, could this possibly be an attack focused towards the judging system itself?
>Possibly. Or somebody hates you for some reason. But you think that this would be more likely.

>Of course not. However, this...being probably didn't come from those places either. Especially not Higan, you haven't seen anything suspicious around here.

>Consider the possibility of other people having similar, demoralizing nightmares.
>If this is really an attack on the judging system, you can guess that Yamas elsewhere are being hannibalized by this being. There is the possibility of this being only being powerful enough to concentrate on you.

>Where can we go from here?
>You could go to the Sanzu River from here by going forward. Since Higan is endless, you would gain nothing by going any other way.

>Judgment "Bar of the Ten Kings"
>Shoots large danmaku everywhere not in front of you, and shoots some small danmaku at the opponent, along with some long oval danmaku.
>Judgment "Guilty or Not Guilty"
>Shoots 3 blue lasers to your right side and 3 red lasers to your right, along with a larger purple laser right ahead of you. Also shoots a large amount of red and blue bubble danmaku.
>Judgment "Cleansed Crystal Judgment -insertnamehere-"
>The form of this spellcard depends on your opponent.

> Is there a Superior we could tell about our problem to?
>Unfortunately, no.

>You head over to the river!
>Komachi sees you coming, and says "Hey, Eiki. Are you still having those nightmares?"
>She's been more relaxed about calling you by your full title since you've been having these nightmares.
