Coin Spire's Art Thread (Project: Specialis Libri)
« on: August 26, 2010, 02:38:09 AM »
Hello there, my name is Coin Spire. I've been drawing for sometime now and since I've noticed a lot of art threads in AAA, I thought that it wouldn't hurt to share my drawings.

I'll admit, I'm a real newbie in drawing, barely boasting a year of drawing experience (I've never picked up a pencil to draw before then--inferiority complex problems). I don't know anything about coloring scanned art (I can't draw with a mouse, and heaven knows when I'll have the money to buy my own tablet), so most of my art are just line art inked with ball pen.

I draw Touhou characters and my OC when I have the time to do so. Most of my OCs come from my fanfic Specialis Libri. If you have the time, it's worth checking out in PSL next door.

Touhou Characters:
Yukari

Youmu

Yuyuko

Marisa

Kana Anaberal

Ellen Fuwafuwaatama Aureus

Original Characters:
Aiki

Emi

Shiku

Kan

En

Kou

Kiyuu Eimi

Alice's Grimoire/Nozomishi

Mushroom Youkai/Kisei Kinoko

Miscellaneous

I might add the profiles of my OCs if I get the time.
Also, check out Anunsew's music thread, he's done me a lot of favor by giving Shiku a theme:
Eye of Pain

Dirty scanned art is not want, will gladly accept tips in cleaning and coloring scanned art. >.<

Because of time constraints, my updates may have big gaps of time between them.

Anyway, I hope somebody likes it.

Whoa shit, you're no newbie. You have a great sense of perspective and depth. And your style is hella cute.

I've gotten it mostly from copying Noizi Ito art, but I guess I deviated from her style and went into my own.

Drawing is an acquired skill through stubbornness, I've been drawing sticks until a year ago.

I know exactly what you mean :3c

Still, it seems I've produced way less than you did.

Another upload, this one is Yuyuko.

I hope I'm getting better though. I'll have to read about coloring with GIMP when I'm not busy.

Your name...is inspiring me to make something.

No she's not going to eat it. >.<

I'm studying coloring at the moment, I've decided that it's better to reduce my drawings first to 1px line art instead of fumbling with contrast levels in GIMP. But it takes too much time.... T_T

Sure, but I'm not often online so I might not be able to make a timely delivery. Still, I'll do my best if you give a request. ^^

Some new works.
I really need my own scanner. I hate it when my drawings get cut at the sides.  :/

Yes, she is a mushroom youkai...

(On another note, muffin's actually created a mushroom youkai already, and they happen to have the same last name :P (http://onewdesign.wordpress.com/information/fanart/%E5%A5%87%E9%87%8E%E5%B0%8F%E3%80%80%E3%81%BE%E3%81%97%E3%82%83)

Hmm, too bad then. And they happen to live in the same place too.

Guess I'll have to ask KimikoMuffin's permission use her last name (although they are written differently):

First off,
your style is hella cute.
then awesome backgrounds & props in a kiddie / simple style,
drawn in traditional line art / outlining or something...
Th-these arts are... amazing! >w<

I really need my own scanner. I hate it when my drawings get cut at the sides.  :/
Someone fund a scanner! >w<

?*cough* You ought to tell the scanning guy to flatten the paper fully and the "flattener" over the paper (all scanners must have that) to avoid those dark and blurry portions.
If they don't care how the scanning will be done, well? you'd best be off to another scanning guy capable of taking customization suggestions from a customer.

Also, if you're going to color your works, a larger scan resolution is a must, say 150dpi as a start. IMO, a larger resolution gives justice to your detailed works, too! >w<

Thanks.

But I don't have my own computer so it's kinda useless even if I have my own scanner. :/

They have the best rates I could ask for.

If converted to dollars, the rate would be 0.25 cents per page.

All my images are in 500dpi, they are just re-sized to manageable file size. I mean, no one wants a 5mb monochrome image link. ^^
