Title: [Music] Music! (Redundant Title Edition!)
Post by: Dizzy H. "Muffin" Muffin on November 28, 2009, 03:54:15 AM
I couldn't find the old thread for this, so I made this for posting your musical creations!

In this case, a Flower Land remix (http://dizzy.pestermom.com/music/Gensokyo%20Past%20and%20Future%20~%20Flower%20of%20the%20Sun.mp3) of Flower of the Sun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg-MGrwqH2Q), which is a remix of Flower Land (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHYGoBNT5hM)!

That's pretty good, actually.

Not one to pass up a Flower Land remix for obvious reasons. It's a good attempt but there a number of notes that strongly feel out of tune, particularly on the main, repeated part of the song, the final two notes always sound particularly bad. Fix those and it'll sound much better.

It's very neat, catchy, the instrumentation is good and there are no compositional errors! One small problem I had with it is that I think it ends too abruptly. May I ask what tools you used to make it?

Here's a bunch of my old remix things z_z
http://kaorin.pestermom.com/forgotten.mp3 (Kogasa's theme)
http://kaorin.pestermom.com/descendant.mp3 (Stage 6 EoSD theme)
http://kaorin.pestermom.com/truth.mp3 (Stage 6 PCB theme)
http://kaorin.pestermom.com/scarlet.mp3 (Remilia's EoSD theme)

I used Noteworthy Composer for the music, and SynthFont + a "Touhou soundfont" (it's a work in progress) for the soundfonts.

a Flower Land remix (http://dizzy.pestermom.com/music/Gensokyo%20Past%20and%20Future%20~%20Flower%20of%20the%20Sun.mp3) Flower Land (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHYGoBNT5hM)!

http://kaorin.pestermom.com/descendant.mp3 (Stage 6 EoSD theme)

http://kaorin.pestermom.com/scarlet.mp3 (Remilia's EoSD theme)
http://kaorin.pestermom.com/insomnia.mp3 (StB Photo theme 3)

All of them stay pretty faithful to the original, theme-wise and chord-wise.

How did you get the piano/guitar solo nearly perfectly the same as the original? Was there some computer trick, or just by ear?

That's really nice. I wasn't too sure about the syncopation, but it grew on me. The only thing I really disagree with is that one trumpet riff about one-third of the way through, it's just completely off-theme with the rest of the piece.

Yeah, I was trying to recreate the guitar solo in "Flower of the Sun," but I guess I see your point. I suppose it's a bit silly to do that when there's no actual electric guitars to speak of.

Since a MIDI was available, I just saved time by copying those parts and editing it a bit. Totally cheating, I know!

I made a piano arrange of Plastic Mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4WV2TQgODc

Some noticeable mistakes in there, but... That was the best I could do =/ I'm not that good at playing the piano yet...

Hmm, a nice faithful recreation. When you're practicing, pay attention to the rhythm most of all, make it nice and steady, it's the main thing that drives a melody forward.

Some stuff I made while I was bored.
Strange Oriantal Discource (http://www.mediafire.com/?jvozlmwq2rm)
Pandora's Box (http://www.mediafire.com/?oimydrnwllj)
Eternal Full Moon (http://www.mediafire.com/?hrnt33mncji)

Not great but it is here.

Can I have a download link?

I'm not sure how "public" the soundfont is supposed to be, I'll let Drake post the link if he wants.

Listened to Muffin's arrange.

Pretty good, but like others, I didn't like the use of trumpets for the guitar solo instead. Sounded really off.

I don't really care all that much anymore. Originally we were supposed to use it for Ijiyatsu, and for that reason I kept it secret, but it really isn't all that similar. The only issue I have is people running around going "lol i maek music zunpet olololol" and posting crap everywhere looking for a positive review.

I recreated Native Faith in FL studio to the best of my ability without midis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQzFQzNxQzw
