Title: I wish to change my nickname
Post by: AnonymousPondScum on September 05, 2012, 10:37:39 PM: As I've grown fond of switching my main name between various alliterative titles but wish for people to be able to recognize me through a single string.

Any chance I can get it adjusted?

I don't even see a nickname option? I mean I know it's a newer thing so did I somehow miss out on that option or something? I'd like to have it so that I can change my display name without worries and stuff but...

It won't show up if your nickname and display name are the same (like mine), but it should pop up like normal if you change your display name.

Post by: triangles on September 09, 2012, 01:24:19 PM: Nickname VS Username VS display name seems like it's the issue. To me it's pretty counter intuitive what is called what.

What's called user name is what I'd call log-in name (since that's what you log in with, and what you only see)
What's nick name is what I'd call user name (it's the name I therefore use as my main identification throughout silly name/avatar antics)
And display name is what I'd call nick name (because until I'm fully recovered you know me as upsidedown wobbleangles)

I think switching the definitions at registration time around would help - I see a lot of forum users who look like they mixed them up too, and just checked and it's not really explained on the registration page.
