I like how score carries over if you use a continue. You can check for continues because it adds a 1 on the end for every credit you use. :P
So basically, the lower your score, the better you did.
Also the Hard mode scores still have something strange going on with them up there.

PoDD sure is fun.Truer words have never been spoken.
I think at this rate, I'll 1cc the game on Normal with all characters.Go for it. If you're interested in scoring, it may help to know that repeatedly using level 2 spells is a good idea, in case you weren't doing that already. Also, if Normal is so easy for you, you could probably beat Hard as well, at least with Yumemi or Rikako.
LunaticIt's much easier to read that way. I'd be willing to keep track of the code for this thread (or even PoFV as well) like Karisa has with the other PC-98 games, if that would make things easier.

Find: "1. Zil - "Ah, thanks. Should be easy to keep it updated. And good idea about checking the early submissions. After a quick glance at the first page, I see that the very first score is actually missing.
Replace with: " 1. Zil - "
There, that's about half the reformatting done. I've finished off the rest manually. Here (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/39195749/High%20Score%20Entry/3.txt) you go. Zil, can you keep a copy of it updated?
Out of curiosity, who was your stage 1 opponent that you got 5mil from, Karisa? I'm guessing Mima. That's correct. Mima somehow managed to get a boss attack (rare on stage 1 Easy), which was reflected, filling up the gauge entirely. With Rikako's slow charge speed I wasn't even able to fire enough level 2s before the stage ended.
Why can't Zil just be a janitor already?I wish I could tell you, but I don't know. It's amazing how hard it is to just get a clear answer about it.
My scores are under attack!
Hard - Chiyuri
Zil - 82,125,270 - ALL - Replay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ONNmlZCCVQ) - Screenshot (http://i.imgur.com/2tKOprO.png)
I might upload the recording later. Edit: Uploaded, link added.
I also tried playing with Reimu and accidentally no-missed the game for the fucktillionth time.
Lunatic - ChiyuriWhy does this say "Sakurei"? Are you saying this score, which has a video on your channel, should be credited to him?
Sakurei - 99,348,530 - ALL - Replay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgpDIZkT0PM)
The final showdown between chum and Sakurei! Who will win the race to 100m? Find out in next week's episode of Dragon Ball Z!
(But maybe I still have the fire in my heart to play PoDD every once in a while~)hmm
Easy - Kana

Lunatic - RikakoPrinny's Normal mode scores are missing as well. And my Kana Lunatic score is in the Hard section.
Zil - 95,298,150 - ALL - Image (http://i.imgur.com/YZkNXCH.jpg)
None of my scores used autofire, either (I don't even think there's such an option in Neko Project 21 (the emulator I'm using)).
Some emulators do offer it, though! So I just checked in Neko Project 21, and it has a "Joy rapid" option in the menu, so I guess it does offer an autofire option. Rest assured, though, I never used autofire.
My scores weren't added for some reason? I can dig up screenshots for the lower scores, if that was the issue...
And apparently I'm not allowed to beat Zil in any category at all, considering I get a first place that lasts for only 6 hours :(That's been entirely normal in this game's scoreboard for years, don't worry.
That's been entirely normal in this game's scoreboard for years, don't worry.I noticed! :derp:
Every time I finish a run like these I'm still baffled by how Zil's scores are so high though. Is he getting that lucky with scores (after grinding runs for a very long time) or is there some score-strategy I'm missing? Both, to a degree, but much more the later. The Ellen score for instance required some good luck to get, but still only around 5 tries, and most of my non Lunatic scores took even fewer than that. What's important to realize is that the first round against Yumemi can last forever, so your ability to prolong it has a huge impact on your score. There's also a lot more subtlety to using spells than just spamming them and hoping they come back at a good time, like watching the opponent's screen to help make predictions, knowing where to stand to guide things where you want (your x-coordinate effects how long it takes fireballs to reach you, for instance, which I don't think a lot of people take into consideration) etc.

In the runs I did so far I tried to stay slightly ahead of the enemy patterns. So if a really good enemy pattern shows up (such as the upside-down pyramid of enemies that come from the top) I try to use a Level 2 Spell to hope the spell triggers as that enemy pattern shows up at the opponent's screen. But it still ends up being a thing of whether the CPU cooperates and whether the enemy pattern I want actually shows up, so I think even if you try to do stuff like that, it still stays luck-based (even if the odds of success are a little higher).
I think it's better to be behind the enemy patterns rather than ahead of them. Spells can be reflected at least decently with just about any pattern, since the bullets tend to go everywhere, and you're not concerned with the enemy getting massive combos. You just want them to be big enough to send you some fireballs. Furthermore, knowing what kind of pattern you will get and (even more importantly) where it will appear from is extremely useful.I know that if I'm behind enemy patterns it's easier for me to predict at what time enemies appear where. I know being behind makes it a little easier to get a 51,200 combo for a Boss Attack.
I wouldn't suicide for extra rounds against Yumemi on Easy, regardless of character. Your clear bonus on the second round will likely be much lower than it would have been for the first.
About fireballs, when they're generated on the opponents screen, they have to fly to their destination at the top of yours before they start falling. So assuming the fireballs were aimed at you, as they often are, the further you are to the left, the longer it will take them to appear.
Look at this for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoibq3J2uFY
All the stuff that was reflected from my spell had chosen a spot to appear from at the top of my screen. The things sent to the right appeared earlier than the things sent to the left. That's why the wall of fire was diagonal instead of straight across. The bullets are also aimed in your general direction.
Also I don't recommend playing this game on Easy mode. It's extremely luck heavy. It's true that there's luck on every mode, but the higher you go, the less important it is.
Well, good luck in your future runs. It's always nice having some company in this thread.I wish I could do runs now, except that 2 days ago, while I was doing Chiyuri (Easy) attempts, my right arrow key decided to die. So I have to wait until Saturday when it's repaired so I can do runs again... :ohdear:
How sneaky of you! I didn't even notice these. I'll have to plan my vengeance.
Also, I've written a thing which my fellow (and hopefully future) poddophiles can perhaps learn something from.
http://pastebin.com/PAMXUkBS
It's just an explanation of various things I've learned about boss attacks and spell points over the years, ranging from the stupidly obvious to the relatively obscure. I may attempt to write about other things if I can find the motivation.

another edit: I look back on times like this (https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,12670.msg875057.html#msg875057), and it's kind of amazing to me how much of what once mystified me is now explained. Surreal.
KirbyComment, you might want to make a new post instead of editing an old post, if the thread is dropping so far back-- this thread and the SoEW thread were so far down that they were off-screen when I loaded the forum, so I wasn't seeing the "new" on the threads.
On an unrelated note, I've noticed this thread uses "ALL" for clears instead of "C", unlike the other games' threads-- any thoughts on changing it?
Switching to C would probably make sense, yes.Yes! That was my plan all along :D
I can't get the emulator to work so I'm afraid my vengeance is postponed indefinitely.
That's unbelievable. Don't expect me to beat it anytime soon.
Normal - KotohimeWhy not link the video?

Why not link the video?I decided to make this a highlight after I posted the score, so it's fixed now.
Normal - Mima

VideoThat doesn't seem like a video to me.

Zil - 45,658,290 - C - AutofireOff - Video (http://www.twitch.tv/okina_flying_fantastica/c/6014632)
Also, I've been measuring the (Lunatic) timers again. I'll post my guesstimations when I think I've learned something.Let me do this now, for the ones I (think I) know.
Stage 9Now that just sounds lovely! :ohdear:
round 1 - nonexistent
Easy - ReimuDang! I hoped you wouldn't notice. Because I knew you'd destroy my record, even if my record already felt godly. :V
Zil - 38,297,210 - C - AutofireOff - Video (http://www.hitbox.tv/video/480272)
I could improve the Chiyuri score, certainly, but I probably won't do that anytime soon, since I'm not a big fan of Easy mode (or any mode other than Lunatic tbh).
I'm not really sure about the stalling. That was an experiment more than anything, and I don't think I can conclude anything from it at the moment.
The suicides where just to get better rounds as usual.
Normal - YumemiI don't even know what to say about that Mima run...

Can my previous submission be added to the leaderboard?I seem to have missed it. Sorry about that. It's added now.
Oh, I'd assumed the broken Twitch links were past broadcasts from before they started expiring them; didn't know that highlight links changed. I've updated the highlights you linked now.Maybe a bad suggestion, but reading this has made me think a little about such a policy, what about saving pictures of the scores; then putting them into folders which're playerspecific? That way there's always a back-up ready to be uploaded in case the other pictures disappear, for videos I guess you could make a screenshot of the end of the video where it displays the score.
I don't think there's actually a policy yet for broken replay/screenshot links in already added scores (new first place submissions won't be added), as long as it's not being done intentionally. I've considered bumping up the highest confirmed score to first place, but that could be confusing. The strikethrough method actually dates back to my Dropbox-based updates from 2013, when I wouldn't have been able to change the policy if I wanted to.
(The puu.sh in your signature is broken too, by the way.)
This was for DRC and it completely overflowed the DRC score systemDo you mind explaining what that means?
