>Do that thing.
> You proceed to follow the kappa through along the riverbank, upstream. You eventually take a turn away from the river and start going down a hill. Creeks babble on all sides like cicadas, and grow louder as you see more water. At the base of the ravine, half-submerged in water, is a mess of metal houses. What isn't covered in rust is caked in algae and moss, with strings of lights going from tree to tree to light the village. Kappa of all shapes and sizes splash around in the water going about their nightly business, some in rafts or canoes like your companion, and others just swimming in the water. A few small buildings are above water level, but those are far and few between.
> Nearby, a kappa with unusual pink hair dives into the water and doesn't come back up. This lake must be deeper than it looks. It's being fed by an offshoot of the river, and there's another small one on the far side of the lake leading away from it.
> The kappa hikes up her skirt and ties it around her waist before wading into the water.
> "Welp, we can swim over to that place," the kappa says to you, pointing to a non-submerged building on the south end of the lake. As she speaks, you notice that nearby kappa are stopping or doing double-takes to give you confused and frightened looks. Some even retreat into the water at the sight of you.
