And now I'm just recalling that the water's all salty. That's gonna be fun for our open wounds and Alice's wet clothes.

> Let's go buzz that clock tower.

> You keep flying until the woods part and you're over another body of water.  It takes you a few minutes to realize that this is, in fact, a lake that has just been flooded over.  Only a bit of the path that leads to the large, red mansion is visible.  There's the familiar clock tower and iron-wrought gates, outside of which two figures are standing.  The left half of the mansion, curiously enough, appears to be overgrown with greenery and flowers.  Around the clock tower and outside the gates, you see that candles have been lit.
> Although you are certain the flash of light came from here, you don't see other sources of light but the candles.  You do, however, see what appears to be a gathering of faeries--they are too small to be humans, and some of them are flying--over the lake.  The only people you see close to the mansion are the aforementioned two outside the gate itself.

> The mansion's residents--especially the gatekeeper--prefer people using the gate, but you have been guilty of not following that etiquette in the past.

> There's enough going on without you causing another commotion.
> You land and float over to the dry path leading to the gates.  The two people standing there are no longer just the people-shaped blurs you saw from a bird's eye view.  There is a tall woman with long red hair and green qipao, standing in front of a stool with her hands behind her back.  She's fidgeting in a way that looks like she'll take off like fireworks at any moment.
> On the other end of the gate is another woman you don't recognize, one with curly blonde hair.  She leans against the gate and holds a scythe against her shoulder, staring out at the lake.  The slight tears and burns in both their clothes suggest a recent danmaku battle.

> You thank Meiling and fly over the gate, Alice close behind.
> "Be good," she calls after you.
> As the two of you walk across the well-kept courtyard, the realization dawns on you that all of the books Marisa stole from Patchouli are probably ruined by now.  You shudder to think of how she's going to react to that.
> Alice beats you to the front door and pulls on the handle.  When it doesn't give, she takes hold of the brass knocker and bangs it against the door a few times.

> "All right, let's go." If we remember how to get there, then let's get there. If not, then we let Alice lead while totally pretending like we know where we're going.

> You really haven't been to the library in a while.  The faerie maid closes the door behind you as you follow Alice into the mansion.  Almost at once, Alice takes off down a hallway, and you are content to keep following her.
> The mansion is as tasteful and well-decorated as ever.  Just as with the outside, the theme here seems to be "red".  The walls are a dark red paint and the floors are polished cherrywood.  Side tables with potted flowers decorate the halls at almost every turn.  Every now and then you see a painting or a portrait of vampires you don't recognize.  Alice practically leads you through a labyrinth of doors and rooms.  This small journey ends with the two of you standing in a wide room.  The floors are marble and there is a chandelier hanging from the painted domed ceiling.  To your left is a great pair of stairs leading down, lit with lanterns.  To the right is a paned glass wall, with a single door in the center.  On the other side it looks like some sort of flowery forest has grown there.  Will-o-wisps, most likely the work of some magic spell, float in the air.  These and the lanterns on the stairwell are the only light sources in the room.  On the other end of the room, there's another grand staircase winding up and ending on some other hallway.
> Here and there, some faerie maids putter around with brooms and mops.  One of them approaches you and starts scrubbing up the floor around you.  Alice is already making a beeline for the staircase that leads downward.
