I've been wondering what a preferred recording program would be for SA, because Fraps slows down my FPS rate immensely.
Help is greatly appreciated.
-
Camtasia's my method whenever I can't use Fraps. It can still record lossless, so.
-
I use FastCapPro. It's pretty much the only program that works for me.. Fraps, Gamecam etc all slowed down my fps rate.
-
Growler GunCam is my back-up if FRAPS is unwilling to co-operate.
-
FastCapPro minimizes SA.
Camtasia still slows things down.
Should I customize SA settings or not?
-
If you haven't already, you should try using the custom menu in your SA directory to change the colors from 32-bit to 16-bit. That's the major switch I always have to make when I'm trying to record any Touhou game.

You make XP sound bad, which it isn't. At all. Rather, we are interested in the usual specs like CPU, RAM, GPU, etc.
There is no program that will record something flawlessly. The only way you can improve performance is with a faster computer. Now, I'm not saying FRAPS is as good as you're going to get, but don't be saddened if that's the case.
(I've used both Camtasia and ZD Recorder in the past for Touhou, both of which underperformed versus FRAPS. I still find Camtasia useful for occasions where FRAPS falls short though, like emulators and stuff like StarCraft.)
Let me just ask one favor of you. If worst comes to worst, do not, do not get that damn Unregistered HyperCam 2 shit. I will stab you.
