>Try to recall details of our feud with Cirno.

>You struggle with great effort to remember details from your past, but something is preventing you. It's not that you don't remember, but that you just can't think about it. Yet you have no doubt that there is bad blood between you and Cirno.

>The footsteps cease. Whoever it is, they're still a comfortable distance away from you.
>"At long last, we meet again, Admiral Yamadamilk.", you hear a somewhat familiar voice coming down from the deck. "Or should I say... Admiral LOSER?"
>The abruptly cooled down surroundings, the voice, the unimaginative insult... You might be lying down and she might be behind you, but you could recognize Cirno even if you were blind.

>Pick ourselves up and face her.
>"What're you doing here?"

>You stand up and face Cirno. Your crew has mysteriously disappeared, Cirno is the only living thing who remains on the deck besides you. And now you understand what that shuffling of greaves was all about - she's wearing a set of samurai armor without a helmet, straight from a picture book! She also has three swords bound by a cloth sash on her left side pointing edge-down in their sheaths. Somehow, you're not all that surprised she's got this gear, considering what's been going on this ship.
>"I've come to challenge you in rock-paper-scissors!", Cirno folds her arms and grins.

> Heaven or Hell! LET'S ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS!

>No doubt you're hyped for some rock paper scissors, but as a professional, you have standards! You'd prefer to first hear the conditions and whatnot from Cirno.

>"What do I get if I win?"

>She extends her right hand toward you, revealing two hairpins resting on the palm of her gauntlets. These aren't your everyday hairpins, though. They're SHINY!  One of them has a little light blue crescent moon on it and it glows with a dim blue light, while the other one has a tiny yellow sun shining with warm light. Neat!
>"You'll get these if you win. I'm not expecting anything from you, since a commoner like you ain't got nothing valuable for me! But, I guess the one who loses has to commit sudoku, to make the stakes more interesting."
>"Oh, and we're gonna play only one match. The first one who wins, well, wins!"
>Cirno clenches her right hand into a fist and folds her arms again. She really likes that pose from what you've noticed.
>"So how about it, huh?", she smugly stares you down and smirks.

>"You are going down so hard. So hard."

>Cirno guffaws. "Bold words for someone who prolly wrecked my house!"
>She walks up to you and takes off both of her gauntlets, dropping them on the ground.
>The armored ice fairy cracks her knuckles before turning to face you with her right shoulder perpendicular to you, as if adopting the correct footing for some kind of a fighting stance.
>She clenches her fist tight and bends her elbow to raise her right hand into the starting position. As soon as she does that, her whole body starts emanating a visible blue aura. Some of the blue aura begins gathering behind Cirno's back, forming a vague silhouette resembling the ice fairy herself, albeit slightly taller. The aural silhouette mimics Cirno's current pose, as if it was her shadow. The air feels a little more colder than it already was due to Cirno's presence...
>"Ready?", Cirno smirks.

>Go through a few stances that might look like kung fu if you had no idea what kung fu looks like.

>You manage to make a lot of whooshes and other intimidating martial arts noises while striking up some stances of questionable legitimacy! Needless to say, you are quite satisfied with your performance, even though Cirno's still keeping a cool head after witnessing that, somehow.
>You settle in place with one final stance, similar to Cirno's, except your left hand is behind your back in a fist, parallel with your other arm. You raise your right hand and start anticipating for the beginning of the game.

>"You're a corpse who hasn't figured it out yet!"

>"Enough talk, cuz it's time to let rocks, papers and scissors talk!", Cirno says.
>"First comes rock!", you recite in sync with Cirno, beginning the ritual of janken.
>"Jan, ken..."

>What move will you throw out?!

>You seem to have wiped the smirk off her face, but you're not really sure if this new expression is any better, since she's got that determined look on her face now. Her aural silhouette seems to have grown a few feet taller since the last time you actively paid attention to it, too...

>Rock, Paper, Scissors
>Cannon, cannon, cannon

>You quickly contemplate the first strat, but to your mind it sounds way too predictable, even in rapid-fire. The other strat would be great, but unfortunately, 'cannon' is an illegal move in this version of the game! Cirno totally deserves to get cannoned for poorly insulting you and calling you a 'commoner', though. But now is not the time to be vindictive, you've got a game to win here!

>Rock, Rock, Rock!

>Yes, that'll do! It may not sound like a very smart strat to someone, but the unpredictability of this sequence comes from its predictability. It's perfect!

>...
>You throw out rock, but Cirno ties with you yet again! Seriously?
>Keeping up with the rapid pace, you go with rock again, but once again, it's a draw! This can't be happening... is she only playing around with you? To tie with you three times in a row... she must see straight through your game plan! Or maybe that's what she wants you to think. Your mind and body feel chilled to the core by Cirno's daring demeanor..
>As you begin to throw out your fourth rock with your now shaky right hand, time appears to slow down, almost coming to a complete halt. Your eyes wander to take a glimpse at Cirno's right hand. Her fingers don't appear to be tightly clutched into a fist, they're not touching her palm.. no no no NO NO! That can only mean she's gonna throw out a paper! You must switch to scissors, or you'll definitely lose!!!

Re: Three Fairies Quest

>Unless this is a trick, too!
>Paper.

>You narrowly manage to not panic and act recklessly. Gathering your thoughts hastily, you realize that Cirno could be trying to bait a rash move out of you. Your mind quivers in the air for a moment, but just then, it all becomes very clear to you. With a serene spirit, you've seen right through hers.
>Paper. You must use paper. She'll either throw out a rock or a paper, you're sure of it! But just how are you supposed to switch to paper in this hopelessly small window of time? You have less time than the fraction of a fraction of a second, if even that much! You'll definitely be too late to throw out your move, and Cirno will call you out for cheating by delaying your move. It's absolutely impossible to switch to paper in time...
>...but who cares if it's impossible. You've completely seen through that smug ice fairy's trick. Did you really get this far only to lose just because you were 'too slow?' No. You can't play rock-paper-scissors halfheartedly like that. You can't give up now! Just like how the Sun never stops shining, you, Sunny Milk, the Shining Sunlight, will never give up! Even if it's absolutely impossible, you've got to make it work out somehow! You WILL be victorious!
>The flow of time decelerates further and further as you focus all your might on spreading your fingers forth. Try as you might, your fingers will not budge. But you do not care even if your body refuses to cooperate with you, you WILL make those fingers straighten out. The world is almost completely silent, you can only hear and feel your steady heartbeat. Your gaze is fixated on your stubborn right hand that refuses to listen to the command of your resolute spirit. An inexplicable warmness begins radiating from deep within your heart, spreading everywhere in your body, in every fingertip and toe. The surrounding air that Cirno's presence cooled down no longer feels cold. Your body has begun emanating a warm, red aura which flickers and dances around on your skin like a flame, and you can sense a newfound strength dwelling deep inside yourself. It is as if your hot emotions are materializing into reality itself.
>This is it. With this newly discovered strength, you can do it. With the strength of your will, you can turn the impossible into possible! With the required motion crystal clear in your mind, you gather all your might once again and concentrate on opening up your fist into a palm. You struggle for a while, but finally, your right hand's fingers begin extending! Yes! However, this is not nearly fast enough. You must push your body to the limit. Concentrating as hard as you can, even the sound of your heart beating fades away, leaving you in perfect silence. Only the thumping sensation inside your chest remains, becoming ever more rapid. The warmth that spread everywhere in your body increases in temperature, turning into a high fever, and the blood coursing through your veins burns. Intent on extending your fingers with utmost speed and perfection, you force every single muscle to act as one in your body, to lend their power to your fingers. Time returns to its original pace...

>You... you did it. Your right hand, engulfed by a partially transparent flaming aura, has its fingers fully extended into a paper. Cirno has a rock. You won!
>"Eh--"
>Suddenly, your right hand emits a bright white flash of light, conjuring a small explosion!
>"Gaahhh!", Cirno cries out and is sent sliding backwards down the deck by the force of the explosion while standing on her greaves! Upon stopping, she attemps to stay on her feet, but her legs give way and she just barely catches herself with her hands to avoid faceplanting the deck.
>Whoops, that definitely wasn't something you meant to do.

>Cirno probably said something just now. She may've also stood up. None of it really matters to you right now, since you can't tell what's going on anymore. Maybe it's because of the ecstasy of achieving an incredible clutch victory. Or perhaps whatever absurdity it was that you just harnessed has taken its toll on you. Either way, your world is spinning, your ears are ringing and your vision is clouding up. With your senses in turmoil, you lose your balance and topple forward.

>Suddenly, your eyes open up, even though you had never closed them in the first place. You're still falling, but the floor doesn't look like a ship's deck. You've seen this floor so many times from this angle, it's definitely the floor of your house!

>You stand up and see Star and Luna sitting across from each other at the dining table. They're both still in their nightgowns. Huh, maybe you did wake up unusually early after all! Star is leaning back on her chair and drinking tea, while Luna is having great difficulty deciding how to read a broadsheet that she's holding in her hands. She sets the newspaper on the table, only to pick it up and hold it in the air again while uttering a noise of mild annoyance.
>"Win what?", Star says.

>"Ah, I get it.", Star takes a sip of her tea and smiles. "Must've been a nice dream."

>Have a seat at the table and grab some breakfast.

>Thankfully, whoever it was that made the breakfast today decided to go for a more traditional menu. Because grilled iwana is a bit too excessive in the morning in your opinion, you help yourself to a heaping bowl of steamed rice instead and crack a raw egg over it. You also pick up a few pieces of Luna's pickled daikon. As for your drink, you pour some tea from the teapot, and it appears to be green tea judging by its greenish-yellow color. This is just enough for you, as you have a poor appetite in the mornings.

>"So, what's in the news today?"

>"Luna?", Star tries to get the attention of the only person with a newspaper here. Luna doesn't seem to be listening, though.
>You can't help but think that Luna has silenced both of you with her power. She must be really concentrated on getting that newspaper in the proper reading position!

>Can we tell what the proper position is?

>You think that folding the paper in half lengthwise and leafing through the pages could be a nifty way of reading a newspaper of such an inconvenient size while still keeping it in your hands. From the looks of it, Luna just can't seem to decide whether she wants to look like a boss by holding the broadsheet in her hands or if she wants to spread it on the table.
